How about you finally stop acting like Christianity was "concept" and ignore the fact that it does abide by a specific BOOK expliciting a bunch of commandments, rules and behavior followers of Christ are expected to uphold? because if you did, you'd realize not a single verse states that "wives are the property of their husbands".

The only verse that would come close to that statement is 1 Corinthians 7:4

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

but even there, it establishes a reciprocity between the spouse ownership of each other's body, so since it doesn't confirm your bias you just ignore it.

Opinion: Failed Logic, Starved for Attention, Racial Undertones

How was your Tuesday? If you are a fan of the Oakland Raiders, yours exploded via social media. Miko Grimes, wife of Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ cornerback guested on the Breakfast Club. Among the topics discussed was the kneeling during the National Anthem. Grimes took the opportunity to make the following comments, via the NY Daily News.

““[Carr] was against [the offensive line] protesting. And they had a fight in the locker room before that Monday night game with [Washington]. They were fighting in the locker room, and that’s the only all-black offensive line in the NFL is the Raiders,”

“Derek Carr is a bible-thumper to the fullest. And so he was basically trying to force the players to read the bible before the game, and do all this stuff and they were like, ‘No, that’s you.’ And so he was so upset about it, when the whole offensive line said they were going to kneel, he was like, ‘No, you’re not kneeling. This is America; you’re going to stand for the flag.’ And they got in a fight in the locker room, so when they came out to play, they basically had a plan.” 

Additionally, Grimes said the Washington is where Derek Carr broke bones in his back, due to being hit. We’ll address that later. First, let’s deconstruct the situation.

  The Comments

Whether Oakland Raiders quarterback is for or against kneeling is irrelevant. Plus, does anyone truly believe that a quarterback would fight with the men specifically hired to protect him? Plus, does Kelechi Osemele or Donald Penn strike anyone as the type of players to be bosses around by a player? Especially, one they throw their bodies in front of, snap after snap? The only thing Grimes truthfully stated in the first comment was that the Raiders starting offensive line is Black. Other than that, the first comment falls apart like wet toilet paper.

To her credit, Grimes did correctly assert that Derek Carr is deeply religious. Yet again, the truth takes a holiday when she said Carr basically tried to force religion on his teammates. Why haven’t any former Raiders ever said this? Also, another mention of the fictitious fight. Who fought? If Grimes is going to spill the full kettle of tea, name names. There would be no need for reticence or shyness now. Boldness fizzles when truth walks in.

Grimes goes on to mention that Carr sustained his injury in Washington. Anyone with a vague grasp of reading comprehension or the ability to use YouTube can see that Derek Carr fractured his back the following week in Denver. By Carr’s own admission, he held the ball too long and the offensive line did its job. Per ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Carr takes the blame for his injury, not the line. In this buffet of wrong, Grimes serves herself ample portions of failed logic.

On her podcast, Grimes interviews former Raiders fan @RaiderBounty about the injury. To anyone with a pulse, anyone savvy with #RaidersTwitter knows of RaiderBounty. He is same person that believes Terrelle Pryor being better suited to helm the Raiders than Derek Carr. Believe it or not, he believes that Matt McGloin would lead the Raiders better than Carr. So, there is an anti-Carr bias built in. Plus, if you look at his Twitter handle, FORMER FAN. If someone is a former fan, why keep talking about the team.

During his visit to the Grimes podcast, Bounty compared General Manager Reggie McKenzie to Adolf Hitler. That should automatically disqualify anyone from rational conversations.

Someone wiser than I once said “consider the sources”. Miko Grimes thought airing out this fallacy would generate buzz. Well, she was right. However, what she managed to do was anger an entire fanbase and football fans by fanning the flames of racial discord by passing off unsubstantiated rumor. Everyone knows that the relationship between a quarterback and his line remains close. Derek Carr enjoyed a $125 million dollar contract based on his ability to stay upright, due to great blocking. The line also reaped those rewards as the Raiders offensive line is the highest paid in the NFL. There is a symbiotic relationship there.

      Originally, this was going to wait for tomorrow, but since I was at the store, I decided to buy Miko and Bounty each a watch and a case of Gatorade. The watch is to remind them that their 15 minutes of fame are up and the Gatorade to quench their pathetically pathological thirst. Miko will counter than most aren’t as famous. She’s right. I’ve never been arrested at an NFL stadium, spouted racist rhetoric against my spouse’s employer, or tell a reporter to commit an incapable act. So, if that is fame, give me the startling cold of the shadows, devoid of sunlight.

America is divided in 2017 enough, real division, not desperate attempts to secure relevance by trying to foster dissension. Enjoy your time in the sun. Lastly, if you are a rational Raiders fan and buy into this nonsense, root for someone else. RaiderNation will carry on without you.
