like i know some criticisms can be real out of pocket and everything but people in the notes saying "its like someone baking a cake and saying the icing is bad" like uhhhhh

no its not

its more like hey i like the cake you baked but i cant see it properly unless im wearing 3d glasses so i keep missing it with the fork can we work on that maybe

#like again do you not want to improve #i get its random and unsolicited but its not like theyre saying you write like shit i dont like how you did this #like thats a core tenet of writing to keep tenses consistent #and if the writer commonly changes tenses for story reasons it seems very important they use them consistently #i say this as someone who sometimes mixes tenses heehee oops #why do i feel like the specific communities who feel this strongly about this have some real contradictory opinions #i also say all of this as someone who rarely reads fanfiction and never comments positively or critically
