Tfw I learned that grey eyes are like. An actual thing 2 days ago. Like I've always just said I have blue-grey eyes, bc I always thought they were blue that looked grey. But apparently it's common for grey eyes to be seen as blue bc of the red tones of the skin around it & something about color theory. It makes the grey look blue. So it was a light bulb that went off in my head. Maybe my eyes Aren't "grey-blue", and maybe they really are just *grey*.
(Put the rest under a cut bc I rambled a bit And Also there be pictures of eyes under here lol)
So I've been looking at my eyes a lot. And I'm like. Almost certain now. Those things are grey. I left it as blue on my license info today bc Functionally, when u just glance at them they do look blue. But the distinction matters to me. Bc apparently it's the 2nd most uncommon eye color after green?? Smth like only 3% of the world's population has it. And it makes me feel less. Idk. Self conscious about my eyes?? Like they're NOT a boring color, actually. They're actually kind of cool.
And in examining my eyes, I've realized that I might have central heterochromia??? Not 100% certain of this, but there's definitely some brown-toned something at the center there. Kinda yellow kinda gold. Idk. There's a bit more of it in my right eye than my left tho. And it. Showed up on pictures. Which I Was indeed taking pictures just a bit ago. And I wonder if it'd be weird to just post pictures of my eyes on the internet. But I also really wanna talk about them bc central heterochromia grey eyes with a golden center sounds MUCH more cool than just Blue. I ALSO have a prominent limbal ring (the dark ring around the outside of the iris), which is not as uncommon but it's smth that often goes away by ur 20s so the fact that I still have mine is cool!!!
So Woe. Eye pictures be upon ye
So here's my left eye. A few pictures to show the slightly different lightings + pupil dilations (it was very hard to get good pictures that showed off what I was actually seeing)
And then my right eye. Which u can see towards the bottom right of it, there's like. A flare out of the golden color that isn't in my left eye. Also it just looks like it has more of the gold in general. A subtle difference, but it's there.
And it's still hard to not see color in it from the surrounding stuff. Especially with the golden stuff so visible (it's harder to see when my pupils r big so I was looking in the lamp before taking these pics lol, it's not always this visible). Honestly if I hold my phone a bit away from me, my right eye even kinda looks a bit green bc of that gold. Which is WILD, bc I always just thought of my eyes as blue.
But here's the post I found online that put it into perspective for me.
So it's like. Wow, Yeah, when you put it like that...
So, focusing back on my eyes' color. The golden stuff is obviously colored, but the rest of it?? If u look at Just that??? Yeah, that looks grey. Kind of a steely grey, even. It's kind of cool.
Always hated my eye color. Always wanted smth cool like green or hazel. And I'll always love those colors I think, but. I think grey and gold is pretty cool, actually. Maybe I can actually feel less self conscious over them lol
#speculation nation#look its me#steel grey eyes with possible central heterochromia for that golden ring AND also a limbal ring#honestly? yeah i really do like that. it's Mine...#honestly wild what really Looking will do for u with ur eyes. i never looked all that close at them.#never really noticed the gold until like. honestly just recently?? it's hard to see if youre not really Looking.#so what i thought were just dull blue eyes are actually pretty interesting and Also *rare* eyes. which is cool!!!#if this is actually central heterochromia... well it's less rare than the one in each eye type#but still kinda rare. and it LOOKS cool too!!!!#it's too bad u cant really see it unless ur really Looking. but at least i know it's there.#and at least it did show up on pictures hfkshfkd i didnt know What id do if it didnt show up.#but im not imagining it!!!! it's THERE!!!! a solidly different color from the rest of the eye!!!!!#like that's gotta be central heterochromia right?? im not imagining that???#idk if anyone has thoughts or input id love to hear it. im just kinda nerding out about my own eyes by this point hfkshdks
