How I feel about this character:

honestly i really was rockin with this guy for a long time bc of ralbert 2018 renaissance, then i lost my vibe with him! i didn’t like a fair share of interpretations of him, he was getting almost like too goofy and his relationship with jack i think was sort of. exaggerated in a way that tried to confuse canon with fanon and i wasn’t big on 92sies at the time so i was like. they speak like. 5 times to each other. but NOW? i have figured out a racetrack in my head that i rly like, also uksies happened and i LOVE josh barnett’s sort of return to 92sies race- more hardcore, bruiser type, actually smokes. he’s very cool. if anyones “the blowhard”, it’s him- jack serves this warm parental role, crutchie is this older brother type, and race is very on-the-ground rallying the troops at all times. i like it

My unpopular opinion about this character:

honestly i wish the peppy jokester perception of him would chill. 92sies was snarky and laid back, livesies was. kind of… bubbly nervous?? and uksies is again the blowhard abrasive type. like for me 92sies and uksies appeals much more to me guys idk i think the fandom just wanted a comic relief character that the show itself doesn’t contextually provide. (because it’s the ensemble. it is the newsies as a whole. that’s. that’s the point they can FILL ANY ROLE-)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

oh wow idk. i wish crutchie had called for him when the delanceys were dragging his ass to jail, like… idk why he’s calling for elmer yk. that would’ve been a good nod for race’s positionality within the group. OR TBH i wish king of new york was more obviously a ploy for race and like dave to raise the boys’ spirits with katherine!!! like if she was asking dave and race abt where jack was, gave her a quick update on the vibes, she like…shows them the paper before the rest of the boys’ rq and then KONY plays out.

Favorite friendship for this character:

i do like the older boy friendship of the trio (race al and finch). like if i was “missing out” on anything with uksies it’s race and albert not being in sync anymore

Literally, Tadashi is one of the most honest and open people. If he says something about you behind your back, it’s probably to talk about how cute your smile is or about something funny you’d said the other day. He’s really a bundle of positivity when it comes to you! 

Will learn to play tennis! I could see him catching onto how to get topspin and side spin serves because of his immense understanding of serving in volleyball. He’s a tricky player to go against, once he’s good enough to start rallying!

 Study dates!!! He takes his grades seriously as well so he’s basically always studying with you whether at the library or at home after school. If he starts to notice that you’re procrastinating, he’ll poke you lightly with a pen with a cheeky grin on his face and tell you to get focused. (He’s a pro at getting good snacks.)

Or honestly he’ll just start relaxing with you. I could see you two putting on a show and inevitably getting distracted by it!

He gets that you need to be in charge of things, and he’s pretty vocal about letting you decide things and helping you keep things in control. You’re at the zoo and want to go through it a certain way? Sure! You need to get through a tough assignment and it’s starting to feel overwhelming? He’ll try and help you understand it better. 

Since you have leadership experience I could see you being the class rep in your class with him and every time you make an announcement he’s always staring at you with a proud smile from his desk. (Even if it’s just a standard, daily info)

He’s not excessively clingy but he really does love holding your hand wherever you guys go. When inevitably you have to part ways, he’ll hold onto your hand as he’s walking away as far as his arm can reach, until it’s just one finger brushing up against yours. He’s really soft when it comes to you, and it’s so obvious.

Alright, so I went to a production of Newsies last night at the local civic theatre, and I’ve seen a lot of people do these, and I can’t really hold all my feels in rn, so I’m gonna have a go at it.

Okay, so I haven’t been to that many, like, local productions and stuff, so my expectations were pretty low.

But holy fuck that was FUCKING INCREDIBLE

I swear, most of them were like, eighteen, and every single one of them could be on Broadway right now, okay?

Jack did amazing, like... WOW

I still can’t wrap my head around the last note in Santa Fe (you know the one) because he HIT IT and he FUCKING HELD IT for the FULL TIME and it was FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

And Something to Believe In was a blessing to my ears, I didn’t even mind how cheesy it was because he was so good (she was also incredible, but more on that later)

And then in uhhhh, Seize the Day, I think? they were all dancing and stuff (tHe ChOReOgrApHY) and Jack comes to the front and does these beautiful pirouettes, and this is the moment I lose my shit

Also, you know that line, when Jack repeats the thing Pulitzer said? The ‘it’s a compromise we can all live with’ line? He said it SO GOOD. Like it wasn’t overdone, but it was given JUST enough emphasis to make it important and I just asdjklfgh

And, I mean, not to objectify a person with honest to goodness GOD TIER talent, but damn son

Now let me just tell you about Davey because it was beautiful and breathtaking and could I maybe keep him

So Seize the Day??? was incredible. I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful this kid’s voice was (remember I said they’re all like eighteen)

And the ‘Behold the great battalion that stand side by side/Too few in number but too proud to hide/Then say to the others who did not follow through/You’re still our brothers and we will fight for you’ was literally the most breathtaking thing

I felt my soul ascend to heaven

And it’s just that actually hearing the line ‘go and look it up the poor GUY’S head is spinning’ in person was 100% as fulfilling as I always hoped it would be

He did it so well, it was fucking PERFECT

And yes, he did put the emphasis on GUY’S and I almost cried

He said tarantulas, I REPEAT HE SAID TARANTULAS

And ‘Oh yes... above. the fold’ has now become a defining moment of my life

Also, his small tap solo on the table in King of New York was spot on

Did I mention they really did tap dance and everything all over tables and stuff in King of New York? Because they did and I was in heaven.

She added one little flourish in and I swear it kinda made the song

But the rest of the song she did so good on? She never stuttered or stumbled or anything, and she hit everything spot on like WOW

And she did amazing in Something to Believe In and hearing that Katherine and that Jack sing harmonies together was apparently the only thing I needed in my life

also she def gave him her best shot and WHAT A SHOT

So, like, Crutchie was kind of the weak point of the show, I thought, but he didn’t do awful, he was just a little sharp sometimes, you know?

And I still came dang near crying when they dragged him away AND during Letter From the Refuge

he pulled a lot of weight in this show, lemme tell you

he was kind of the rallying point for all of the cast that wasn’t you know, like, the main characters and everything

and HE DANCED and HE SANG and HE SOLD HIS MOTHER FOR A BOX OF CORONAS and it was GLORIOUS

and Albert, okay? was like??? 13 or smth? but he did so goood?

All his lines were perfectly delivered, he sang good, he danced good, he just DID GOOD
