sometimes i read negative reviews of books i enjoyed, just for fun, and i can't get over this one person who read The Stone Sky and said it was confusing because.......... second person is used for multiple characters. like??? no???? it's still just essun

#tre reads #broken earth #the stone sky #nk jemisin #essun #like i understand that this series does some odd things with POV and it can take some time to get used to it #but this particular comment is just. literally incorrect lmao #also the review right under this one says that they only recommend TSS to “people who liked twilight or harry potter” which like......#i've read neither of those and don't particularly want to #but i loved broken earth so fuck you i guess dhfjskdf...#imagine comparing sci-fantasy that realistically addresses abuse and oppression to... sparkly vampire romance and wizard school #but you do you i guess #like obviously not everybody is gonna enjoy every book and that's fine #and hell even “i don't understand x” is valid. i've dnf'd books for reasons like that before #and sometimes negative reviews genuinely do have good insights that get me to think more deeply about stuff and that's cool #but a lot of the time i feel like people have just. fundamentally misunderstood what the book is going for. and that's frustrating ahaha #i started reading another review and this person is calling nassun a narcissist #like that is an abused oppressed child my guy she 100000% has valid reasons for acting the way she does and “narcissism” isn't part of it #but it's getting me really worked up so i think i'm gonna stop now and go do something else shfjkdsf
