“i wish this established trait of deviants applied to the main cast” is a consistent trait of this game, i’d say... first rA9, now this >_>
though to be honest, i always interpreted connor’s “deviants also have a tendency to self-destruct when they’re in stressful situations” a bit differently. i always saw it as him framing it as something compulsory that Just Happens because he can’t comprehend that they’re people with feelings being driven to suicide. it’s dehumanization, for lack of a better term. (think someone complaining that their severely neglected dog chews up the furniture when it’s left alone in the house- treated as an irrational behavior that just happens for some reason instead of something with a reasonable emotional cause.)
connor sees it as “when high stress, self-destruct” when the truth of the matter is “these people are being put in inhumane situations so horrible that they, very commonly, decide suicide is the only way out”.
It is stated that androids self-destruct when they feel stressed enough. I wish it was something that could also happen to main protagonists. I mean, all of them are terribly stressed, it's a miracle they keep it together without a need to find ways to calm themselves down.
#like tbh the ortiz android was going to die no matter what#i don't think his suicide was any more compulsory or illogical that it would've been if it were a human in his shoes#not necessarily anyway. it's all up to interpretation#honestly the fact that he can shoot connor depending on whether he tries to intervene means he's still thinking as he does it imo#connor rk800#hk400#reload#thiriumhowls#and the other suicides don't really seem to have anything to do with a 'stress level'#the traci is in despair at losing the only thing in her life she lived for#the station android is. well he doesn't have much character but likely the same as simon#whose motive is obvious in which he doesn't want his memory probed to give away jericho#and like u said alice wasn't a suicide attempt so much as just being. terrified#connor's the only one close and like u said he had reasoning behind it (even if panicked illogical reasoning) not just compulsion#sooo yeah i always saw the 'androids just kinda self destruct when theyre stressed for some reason' to be dehumanizing framing not fact#but tbh the idea of it being compulsory is way too fun to play with so don't be surprised if i jump on the bandwagon lolll
