just saw a post complaining about AUs having storybeats reminiscent of canon?? and characters experiencing struggles mirroring that of canon??? are you new here??? do you not know what fic is??
#like. if you wanna write ooc shit that doesnt have regard to the meat of the original characters then go ahead but ❓❓❓ ofc good fic is going#to write the characters in a way that resembles canon???? especially aus?? thats like the whole point?? an investigstion of circumstantial#effect on (largely) the same person???#'why cant alicent have some happiness for once🙄��' plenty of the fics where shes got mirrored struggles from canon do have happy moments#but shes not a happy woman you want a different guy#like ofc the modern aus make nyra more free to do what she wants. thats literally the dynamic in canon. thats their inherent tension#like outside of all the circumstance the tension between them comes down to the facr that for the most part nyra can do what she wants#and alicent cant???#anyway. why cant the characters just be happy and have fun is boring as hell to me but its also just difficult to base a story off#so if youd like to write pure fluff aus do it yourselffff
