anyways i cried last night bc i only had to do one 10-part and i got him
i remember 3 years ago when doss came out and i was like gbf give us that baal skin i will throw money at it. we never got it BUT THIS IS LIKE 100x BETTER. I’m JUST SO HAPPY I GOT IT ON THE FIRST 10-PART. I CAN SAVE MY CRYSTALS FOR SUMMER (i mean i have barely any saved bc i spent last gala bc i was dumb but)
#sammy liveblogs about granblue#gbf is trying to make me bring back fire harp memeing#i tested him yesterday and his dmg output was good just bc we can like IMMEDIATELY READ 4 HYPE#SO HE JUST TRIGGERS HIS 8-HIT DMG NUKE AFTER EVERY NORMAL ATTACK AS WELL AS HIS OTHER DMG SKILL AT THE END OF EVERY TURN#the fire set up with the harp memeing just feels super lacking in c.a. dmg i need to do some tweaking#need to see how much the cosmic harp is actually doing and if replacing it with c.a. boosing fire weapon might be more beneficial#the grid does have 6 harps in it (including the cosmic harp)#if i drew sylph that would probably be beneficial but i think the real reality is is that there aren't really that many great flb fire harps#what i have now is#ullikuumi (my fire mainhand for all my fire teams) | ultima harp | draconic harp | kerak | zhuque lyrewings | cosmic harp#funny that if i ever got sylph harp bc it sup c.a. dmg based on enmity and my ultima harp has stam on it lol#ithe last time i pulled my harp memeing team out i switched back to rising force too#so there's a little less hp regeneration#like only heals on my ougi#no more from chain bursts and dappled sunlight#bc i play lumberjack on all my other fire teams#bc lumberjack ullikuumi is so fucking busted#(i have one manadiver set up but i dont have a good mainhand for it)#(i was trying to farm al-abad for it at some point)#(but i still need to more copies to drop)#(and atum hates me and just keeps dropping benbenet instead)#sammy be quiet#sammy no#ok i shut up now

evoker uncap opinions
so far caim is the UNQUESTIONED king of evoker uncaps. crazy valuable in HL. nobody else can do what he can.
the greater issue is, the devs declared before the uncaps even came out that they would ONLY focus on passives. stream declared that the uncaps would buff backline passive, frontline passive, add new passive, and buff ougi. that means that evokers with decent skills are in a VERY good spot and evokers with shit skills are in a VERY bad spot.
caim and maria theresa demonstrate this most handily; caim's skills were already decent in concept, they just didn't work properly with one another (being unable to copy). maria theresa, by contrast, has GARBAGE fucking skills and her uncap did NOT fix her extremely gimmicky design; she's still only really designed to do the uguale/fedelta combo and then waste space. she got very little practical day-to-day use out of her uncap in spite of the 4 costing a fuckin sunstone. the passive echoes from switching to front are nice and all but you know what? water zeta does half of that with 0 frontline swapping shenanigans AS WELL AS being generally useful outside of that. so does summer cag! meanwhile, MT's healing is still super, super limited. so her uncap did very little for her, overall. it didn't fix her biggest issues.
IMO the most recent batch--nier and estarriola--got uncaps of the "good if you're already using these units but not gonna persuade you if you're not" nature.
nier's flb giving her a passive that exists solely to buff her first skill tells me that the devs lowkey regret their mission statement of "buff passives." they bent over backwards to make a passive that buffed a skill! c'mon, man.
estarriola's flb made him a better backline slut for kengo, but all his frontline buffs equal out to "ok well he can ougi now." which...i do think that needs a bit more testing before we give the final verdict on him, given the team assassin buff he gets on ougi. it gave him a new niche--his 4 means he can ALWAYS activate his ougi--but it didn't fix his more practical issues. imo, what estarriola REALLY needed was a buff to hostility and defense. i use him frequently on the frontline and i've found that 1) his frontline swap skill is so forgettable you can freely start him on frontline and 2) for a dude who needs to be hit to activate 1/3 of his skills (technically 2/3 of his skills considering the special attack one) he sure doesn't take hits all that well. a 4th skill with mitigation would have been real nice, or maybe revitalize? idk. i think there were some holes in his flb, is all.
ramblings on future predictions for the evokers i am most personally concerned with for the sake of figuring how i'll spend my sand:
they seem very interested in buffing frontline viability
i worry a bit about what alanaan will get. ferry flb is a hint since they share the same most important skill
but alanaan plays so differently when he comes from the backline vs when he starts frontline. frontline is faceroll burst, but if you're bringing him from the backline it's for HL because you need def/heal buffs/pseudohealer
somewhat similar to caim in that frontline caim is mostly for copycat memes and backline caim is completely different in playstyle
so maybe alanaan COULD get some really good passives that give him the kinda HL boost caim got? well, i'm on the hopium, but it's doubtful…
given his defensive/pseudoheal niche i expect alanaan to get a 4 with death's grace or mitigation or something else in the survivability spectrum, like unchallenged or guts or reflect. a nuke 4 would be COMPLETELY wasted
meanwhile, borger…
borger is outdated on both front and backline. multihits invalidate his backline passive and his frontline passive… (lol
everyone and thieir mother has guaranteed TA nowadays, QA is not worth the setup
borger…imo what borger NEEDS is either a buff to his offense (autonuke? yuisis/gawain echo/triple/seraphic passive?) or
a buff to his tank meme. I noticed they gave nier the very odd passive that extends her field this round; maybe borger could get a 4 (field?) that gives him single-target sub with counter like rein or baotorda? the devs clearly [and rightfully] don't consider single-target sub all that powerful
once the evoker uncaps finish up, i'm expecting one or two of them to get a rebal right after. nier's 'field fix' passive seems to show that cygames regrets not making space for skill buffs in the flb

Okay oomfie posting tym

It took me a little bit to decide on formatting and I just decided to post this screenshot from the team overlay then post each member and write a silly little blurb about what they do and how I feel about them then end it off with a small explanation about how the team functions, I haven't decided whether I wanna post grid and est damage and stuff since that's kinda boring for everyone who isn't as enthusiastic about spreadsheets about anime images, and everyone who is probably thinks these teams suck and that I should kill myself
Oomfie one: Cereal

Cereal is the beating heart of my entire light team and it's safe to say that it would take a lot for me to be willing to make a team without him, my goal for most of my light teams is always ougi spam and this guy let's you build meter so fast it's crazy, combined with kengo and my main weapon also building meter and I can ougi like every other turn give or take (which will only go up once I finally make my light kaneshige), he's got a pretty decent artifact as you can see (or can't artifacts are confusing and on average bad and or do nothing but this one does a little), only male character I'm not deeply upset about being integral to my build 10/10 would recommend
Oomfie 2: Grea forma de homosexualé

If cereal is my teams beating heart grea is the brains of the operation, she's got three pretty awesome buffs that give extra stuff based on which one you pop first (usually ends up being the first one as it also builds meter and is part of the reason this team can ougi so frequently, but if it happens to come on a turn where everyone's CB is full she can pull out a pretty spicy TA buff), she's in there with one of the reasons all of my teams are so ougi heavy because she's my little mipy even outside how good she is (her fire version was one of my first real hard carries so I have a soft spot for her) 12/10 my silly little dragon oomfie I will pray for your gay marriage to your friend (this may or may not be canon I didn't actually read her fate episode I am just making wild assumptions about her sexuality because I'm evil :3) almost forgor to mention the artifact sitch (she doesn't have one because the only light melee artifact I've ever received is like comically bad like really just awful)
Oomfie 3: lu wOwO

One of the newer additions to the party who I'm VERY ANGRY AT BECAUSE I COULD HAVE GRAND CAGI IN THIS TEAMBUT UNFORTUNATELY THIS FUCKING DRAGONTWINK IS INCREDIBLY GOOD FOR MY TEAM, he sports a very nice field buff, a damage skill that procs every time he normal attacks and a *clenches jaw* really really good buff that makes everyone hit very hard and heal a good amount of health every turn, he also won the artifact lottery by a very substantial margin, another thing I seethe about at night because his personal damage is just okay so I've gone out of my way to try and make him a pseudoattacker of sorts 9/10 but in a dark woke way because I can't make myself give him a good grade even though he's objectively great
I won't post a portrait or do a full paragraph for the last two as they aren't even real anchors they're just my favorite little bench warmers, goblin mage is a debuffer on coke and winner of the "most likely to be in there if I didn't have that stupid little dragontwink" award, and utsusemers is just my silly little oomfie as I'm as you'll come to learn over the next several days a pretty big fan of draph and long time fans will know I'm also a very big fan of ancient Japan so you know she's my silly little bestie
The method:
I'm gonna keep this bit short because I doubt many if any made it this far and I'm sure only I really care about the interactions in detail but basically the plan goes like this- first pop my call for hall and mall (I'm dubious about how important this step actually is but Def down is always good and I'm highly superstitious), hit all three of lu's skills, pop all three of greas skills left to right, you can do all three of cereals skills next but only the first two are important if the battle is gonna be short, then all of djeetas skills left to right, which ends up with everyone getting their ougi first turn as djeeters has three attacks and usually has 100% bar at this point but even if she didn't there isn't a single chance in hell she doesn't get one, cereal hits two because his second buff gives him CA reactivation and of course at this point everyone else has gotten like 56% charge bar because of the first two (note to self look into cereal last spot as a battery for everyone to get a second turn of ougi) everyone does at least five milly an ougi thanks to the copious amount of steroids this comp has pumped into them and we all go for ice cream a turn and a half later unless I'm doing like a really hard raid
#granbloor faynetasy#let me know if theres any other information youd like I only really posted what i thought the person and a half who would read this would#enjoy

Hoo boy, it took some attempts, but I managed to solo Bubz. Probably the greatest achievement in GBF I’ll ever have for a while. I’ll go into detail under the break
This is the team I used. I used Robin Hood because it fit best for what I was going for, Cow is to provide heals as well as damage, S!Korwa needs no explanation, and Enyo is for her auto 10-hit nuke every time she’s hit after the fifth time. I don’t have Katzelia (not that he’s gated off to me persay, but I’m prioritizing other Evokers for now) so I put Sevastien in the backline for the small bit of healing he provides, and Narmaya’s there to cheer me on.
(o, btw I pulled Enyo on her debut banner before gw started. She helped a lot with that)
As for my grid, it’s a bit of a mess, but it gets the job done. Metera’s bow was used for the chance of delay on ougi (though it’s not consistent enough for my liking, so I only relied on it when Bubz had 1/2 diamonds filled,) the Garrison bows should be self-explanatory, Astral because obviously, and the two beaks are responsible for most of the damage done. See, the thing about Robin Hood, Cow, and Enyo is that their skills have a ton of hits on them, and Ewiyar’s beak adds 100k damage to each hit of those, and can stack to 200k. And given that Enyo does 10 hits of skill damage almost every turn, that really starts to add up, not to mention the eventual 40k supplemental damage Cow’s debuff provides and the 20k from Evanescence. Also, and this is probably a weird choice, but Seraphic is there for HP. That’s all.
And yeah, in case the grid didn’t make it obvious now, I’m a wind lord now (I pulled a dupe G!Narmaya while rolling Enyo, so that released the floodgates, so to speak.) Which worked out for me, since it meant I already had 2 sources of dispel for 50%! Enyo has another dispel, and Michael provides the 4th one I need (using a Zeph when the debuffs pop up erased the mirror image before dispelling, so that’s killing two birds with one stone there). Olivia’s there for the extra source of delay, and Justice is so that Cow’s heal can be distributed to S!Korwa and Enyo. Don’t think I need to explain Qilin. Don’t have Temperance, but I did have Owlcat, so he’s there for the extra bit of HP. Raph is...basically useless, since I don’t think I hit cap at all.
As for how I dealt with omens, I basically just...canceled when I can. In a previous attempt, I made the mistake of letting Bubz get up to Trance level 3, which pretty much ended me even with all that defense I had. Pretty sure I got him down to around 8% as well, which sucked. Heck, even level 2 is risky, since that means even more multiattacks, and those still freaking hurt! Thankfully, between Cow’s s1 essentially giving me a full chain and having a relatively low cooldown (hey, her ougi reduces cooldown by 3, it gives her ca reactivation soon enough, and she can normally ougi again before long) and everyone having high multiattack rate thanks to S!Korwa’s s1, not to mention both Zeph’s providing 25% ca charge each. building up charge for fated chains is pretty quick. Also, in a previous run, I confirmed that S!Korwa’s debuff resistance prevented Black Spear from inflicting its debuffs, so that wasn’t an issue in case I needed to eat one.
Anyways, that’s probably the only 9* impossible raid I’ll solo for a long time. Faahl I don’t have an answer for with regards to 10%/3% Paradise Lost, Belial needs a large burst after 5% (not to mention I can’t rely on delays from summons or skills as much) and Super Ultimate Bahamut...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA no

my comprehensive opinion on shinobu (unit):
1. DOESN'T have guaranteed da/ta, at least at first, but her multiattack rate is really high to the point single attacks are rarer than triple attacks with her.
2. exceptionally well paced character in battle. for the first few turns she'll be building stacks, but once she's fired up she goes from "hit me one more time. hit me ONE more time" to snapping and absolutely taking control of the fight. she'd be complete even without the two turn paralyze but every time i remember that she has that it's like holy shit she's perfect. one thing a lot of stacking units suffer from is taking forever to build stacks, but what with her s2 having a short cooldown, her having hostility up, and earth bosses generally having aoe ougis, she builds up stacks super fast. it's awesome. So much better than if it was stack-on-damage.
2. her second skill is fine to use on turn one to try and boost her stacks faster because the cooldown is so short. and i can confidently say that, both because her multiattack rate is so high (boosting the value of echoes) and because her natural CA damage is very low, you will do fine to smash it on cooldown because it's valuable on any sort of attack for her.
3. third skill good. charge bar boost and heal. straightforward
4. i am not particularly impressed with her charge attack gimmick, it's definitely based on skills like grand ferry's or ricky rat's, but JUST plain damage in response to a foe using a special attack falls off in higher end content. i also feel that her charge attack damage in itself is notably unimpressive even with the boost against poisoned foes. if you just want raw damage, shinobu is not quite your girl.
5. i personally find that she works very well with tiamat 100, because they can work together to heal and boost charge bars. considering tiamat's delay+mirror image+veil and shinobu's paralyze, they cover a lot of general survivability together. using those two and chrysaor and meteon i was able to significantly damage an alexiel (40% before anyone died) and stay alive without too much trouble, with a very mediocre grid (15k hp) which goes to show how good they are at on the go support.
6. related, shinobu on her own is not an exceptional support, though with literally any other source of support she really does shine. generally if you want REAL heals you bring monkey, but if you do shinobu is still relevant - monkey grants hostility up and echoes, and again, shinobu has charge bar boost and paralyze.
overall: is she the best unit ever? no. she's actually one of the few characters with a very readily apparent weak point (her charge attack damage) and for anything she does there's a character or summon that for the most part does it better. i won't say she's a must have on your team. however, she's REALLY good for a free unit. if this kit was on a gacha only character i wouldn't bat an eye. i am very impressed by the fact that she's not only a reliable unit for newer players, but she's also still competitive for a spot in my team when i have units like christmas meteon and monkey. i know i'm gonna ring her, and it's not gonna be wasted. i'm super excited for how she scales even as my wind grid gets better.

The Top 10 Anime of 2017
The end of the year is nigh, so we here at RABUJOI thought we’d give you some “Best of” lists, starting with the 10 best anime we watched in 2017. Mind you, these aren’t simply the ten shows that gained the highest scores, though that is part of the equation. Rather, these are the ten shows we enjoyed the most and would/will likely watch again, and highly recommend to all.
10. Sagrada Reset
Despite its conventional, non-flashy visuals and the uneven strength of its arcs, Sagrada Reset earns a place on this list for being so damned ambitious, memorable, and weird. It starred a couple of characters who always hid their emotions behind wooden exteriors, and yet it worked. The idea of an entire town of ability users, full of mysteries as to how a peaceful balance was struck, the attempts by some parties to destroy the magical place, and an increasingly fascinating web of world rules and creative use of ability combos kept be tuning in.
9. Inuyashiki
Nobody ever expected or even thought much of Inuyashiki Ichirou. But when he and Shishigami Hiro are crushed by aliens and given new robotic bodies capable of flight, miraculous healing, and terrifying destruction, Ichirou not only becomes a hero, but the only hero who can save his family, Japan, and the world Hiro’s adolescense-fueled rampages. Often dark, brutal, and cruel, Inuyashiki is balanced by some welcome moments of comedy as Ichirou discovers and tries out his numerous powers, as well as the emotional impact of Hiro’s tortured, conflicted soul, as well as Ichirou’s restored bond with his daughter Mari.
8. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou
Two girls in a ruined world. It doesn’t get much simpler than that, and the audience is along for the ride as those girls trundle through a seemingly endless three-dimensional labyrinth of roads, tracks, ramps, stairs, underground passages, platforms, elevators, and structures, each time discovering something new. Chito and Yuuri couldn’t be more different in personality, but there’s no doubt they’re both glad the other is by their side for their adventures. Moments of friendship, comfort, and life cut through the gloom.
7. ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu Ka
Like Sagrada Reset, ACCA marched to the beat of its own drum, and was unlike nothing else that aired this year. Focusing on a mid-level bureaucrat with a pretty cushy life who has a mysterious past that plunges him and his sister into the heart of a royal coup attempt, ACCA had both a compelling narrative, likable, rootable characters, a wonderfully-realized world composed of countries with very specific themes, plenty of intrigue, and a surprisingly understated yet effective finale. And the food…the loving depiction of food and drink gave even Food Wars a run for its money.
6. 3-gatsu no Lion 2
I didn’t know I wanted to return to the world of Spring Comes In Like a Lion until I found myself there. Rei is a little older and lot more confident and less self-hating in the second season, and it’s a good thing too, because the person enduring the most conflict this time is Hina, enduring a bullying campaign simply for doing what was right defending her friend. Hina saved Rei last season, now it’s his turn, and it’s never not a delight to behold.
5. Houseki no Kuni
Continuing the theme of “Weird but Good”, Land of the Lustrous may be the best example of the year. Androgynous anthropomorphic gems fighting aliens from the moon with designs drawn heavily from Hindu iconography seeking to use them for “decoration”? Weird. But more than the awesome 3DCGI execution of those battles and their shimmering participants is the character development of the show’s protagonist Phos, who has grown into one of my favorite characters of the year.
4. Tsuki ga Kirei
I haven’t seen a school romance as good as Tsuki ga Kirei in a good long time. When it came along and told the slow-burn story of Akane and Kotarou became an item, it was a crisp breath of fresh air. It keeps things simple, keeps things real, and doesn’t skimp on all the resonant little non-verbal gestures and expressions that really bring the characters to life. The show also makes good use of the LINE app that’s apparently become the go-to communication tool for kids of this age.
3. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu:Â Sukeroku Futatabi-hen
The first season of SGRS was truly great anime, but as it took place mostly in the past, we can almost look at it as a prologue for the second season, which is outstanding. Put together, it’s a sprawling, epic tale of several generations of storytellers fighting against a world increasingly indifferent to their craft, while wrestling with their own various personal demons. It’s about women’s empowerment in what had been an all-men’s world for centuries. It’s about brotherhood, familial love, romantic love, lust, and one spellbinding rakugo performance after another, usually accompanied by a top-notch jazzy soundtrack.
2. Owarimonogatari Second Season
“Endstory” is pretty self-explanatory; in another epic chronicle that started with Araragi Koyomi’s eventful Spring Break in late March of 2006 (covered in the excellent film trilogy Kizumonogatari), it’s hard to believe Owarimonogatari wraps the whole thing up just a year later, in March of 2007 (the Kanbaru Suruga-centric Hanamonogatari takes place a month later). But enough about the timeline; Owari 2 is a fantastic conclusion to the mega-arc that takes Araragi literally to Hell and back, ascends Hachikuji Mayoi to godlike status, filling a longtime hole in the city’s spiritual tapestry, and finally reveals the mystery of who/what the Loki-like “Oshino Ougi” is. Araragi and Hitagi even get to spend time together as lovers. It has pretty much anything a Monogatari junkie like myself could ask for, and leads me to hope this isn’t really the end, since there’s a lot more Nisio Isin material to work with.
1. Made in Abyss
Made in Abyss came out of nowhere to become one of the best animes of this century. That sounds like hyperbole, the century ain’t that old, and it really is that damn good. Imagine a Ghibli movie spread over nearly five hours with unique character designs that, while cutesy, avoid being annoyingly so; a intricately-detailed and truly awesome setting, ominous mysteries, terrifying monsters, ample mortal peril, tremendous music and sound design, and some really top-notch performances from the two leads. Abyss will pull you in, grab your heartstrings, kick your adrenaline gland, and blow your mind. And it’s not over yet; though a date has not been set, a second season is on the way. Even if it had ended at one, however, the twelve episodes we got unquestionably comprised the very best of 2017.

#sammy liveblogs about granblue#to be fair ITS THE FACT I DID NEARLY 75 MIL DMG IN SUMMONS AND CHAIN BURTST#the only other things we come close to is c.a. dmg but thats bc he's hitting hard cap like immediately and im not that far off from it#if the hard cap wasnt 6.6mil the difference would be larger#i mean also fediel did more c.a. dmg than him#bc she also got 12 ougi's compared to his 8#she's nearly at the hard 6.6 she's usually around 6.5 but she's gets to double ougi every time so lol#when ur heal class and u do almost as much dmg as the elements arguably best dps unit#im glad i went and spent the valor badges on the sunlightstone so i could get yatima to 4*#i got 3 copies of her during her release banner so i only needed one and then i 4*'d her#and being able to summon two summons a turn is so nice and i dont need to have sr lyria as an ally to do it#god tho imagine if i had death in my summons and not the sub aura summon section#using yatima would be like playing russian roulette

cries, finally i got qinglong proud beat. the other three were pretty easy, but qinglong was an ordeal bc despite how strong my regular fire set up is, god does that dragon do so much fucking damage. had to switch to doctor and use yuel, gahandagoza, and agielba as a front line, shove rose queen and the dragon knights summon into my summon grid for their armor effect, use michael as support for the delay, and time agielba’s skills just perfectly right to substitute on the bosses special attack when the full party wasn’t armored, BUT ONLY WHEN HE HAD HIS OUGI READY BECAUSE GOD THAT 100% to reduce damage by 80% for that turn is soooo important to be able to tank the entirety of those 30/24 hit damage special attacks. the extra green potions and heals from doctor, and being blessed with vane’s cooking actually having rng in my favor, like giving me shield when i need it, not giving me charge bar when i don’t need it, and even got blessed with the insta skill cooldown. i didn’t even lose a single party member on the run i finally won, ; w ;
#sammy liveblogs about granblue#sammy be quiet#imafuckingidiot#sammy no#sammy rambles#that one rebalancing update from ages ago really made agielba a good fucking tank if you time his skills right#like that .5 turn armor is fucking clutch#i had to drop percy bc petrify only lands at below 50% hp and i needed party members with heals good def and counter and shit
