So I know you’ve covered age before, but in “Act Your Age” the boys are 18 (heading to college) 10 years from the show’s canon summer, but in “P&F Quantum Boogaloo” they’re 30, 20 years from the show’s canon summer. Are they eight years old or ten? Has either show creator ever mentioned this? Love your blog!!!

I’m glad you like the blog! Dwampy stated in the opener of “Act Your Age” that Phineas and Ferb were teenagers (they never specify 18 years old) in this episode set 10 years in the future, but, yeah, the math completely doesn’t add up on that considering how Dwampy have said they’re 10-ish years old (Phineas has a summer birthday as we saw in “Phineas’ Birthday Clip-O-Rama!” and Ferb supposedly has a February birthday), which, yes, does align with them being 30 years old in “Phineas and Ferb’s Quantum Boogaloo!” Basically, it seems like Dwampy were so focused on having a nice, round number of years to skip forward to that they forgot they’d already established both of the boys as being 10 years old by the time PnF’s summer ended.

Personally, when I think about AYA I just either ignore the first or second part of that opener, meaning I either consider the episode to take place at whatever still-a-teenager-age Phineas and Ferb/their friend group are when choosing to go to college (which depends on what age they were when they started school in the first place--for example, I myself was a college freshman at age 17 since I started school at age 4--or if they took a gap year) or I consider it to take place actually 10 years in the future when they’d be 20 (with similar gap year considerations as above, or I pretend they’re transferring from community college to a four year college).
