Okay, but one of the things that annoyed me about s2 of Locke & Key was that Jackie’s death seemed entirely bc of Tyler’s short-sightedness. The other thing that annoyed me was how the show treated Eden, which I am remarkably less forgiving towards. (Look, the entire show kinda has the Lockes as dumbasses, but there isn’t an in-universe excuse for the second one.) So alternate suggestion:

When Kinsey and Scot use the Head Key on Eden, we see that she’s still in there. Eden, our Eden, the human Eden, the Eden who had enough of a heart of gold to risk her life to help the people she bullied who in turn magically controlled and manipulated her body, she’s still there. The darkness and the mannequins are slowly overrunning her head, but it’s still Eden’s head.

So consider instead if Kinsey and Scot escape and tell the others about their realization. The Savinis and the others are like :/ well that tracks but Scot asks how they’re going to save her and the others are kind of just like 😬😬 Eden? Eden who is like a total raging bitch that one? Jackie, as Eden’s best friend, insists that they have to do something and they’re still kinda like ehhh but Kinsey finally speaks up. This is our fault. Eden wouldn’t have been involved at all if it wasn’t for us, we have to help her.

And so the thing is that there isn’t. really a way to save someone from demonic possession. Erin points out don’t you think we’d have done that if there was a way? Maybe something about a journal from Ellie or one of the Keepers of the Keys researching ways, a note about how they wish they could have saved Lucas. And so they realize that they have to create a way now.

Blah blah, Dodge creates the Demon Key and Tyler realizes that he can create a key and they trap Eden at some point. (Look this isn’t a full season rewrite, I’m not doing all that rn.) But anyways, Tyler, with Erin dead trying to reach Lucas and Jackie confused and worried about Eden with the loss of her memories, creates the Alpha Key. 

Meanwhile, Jackie confronts Kinsey and Bode and demands to know what the hell is going on and they restore her memories and she catches up to speed and has the realization that her best friend is a demon and possessed Eden is spitting all these things at her about how you didn’t even notice, too wrapped up in your new magical life and boyfriend and friends and so much for being best friends, right Jackie? just full on demonic tormenting with Eden’s body and voice.

Tyler comes back and reveals that he has the key, but they’re worried about using it on Eden bc what if it goes wrong? And they’re arguing over it while Eden laughs at them and then Dodge attacks and everyone is scrambling and Jackie goes missing in the midst of it all and then it’s over and Tyler is yelling for her, fear and panic in his voice, when she reappears, quiet and solemn. Tyler desperately hugs her and she just leans against him and says softly Eden was one of my first friends y’know. One of my only friends and she tearfully laughs and Tyler is starting to get worried and Jackie just looks up at him and her expression goes vaguely demonic for a second and he tries to draw back in horror at what happened but she grabs his arms and demands use the key on me. If it works, then we can save Eden. If it doesn’t... I don’t want to end up like her, Tyler.

And without really any other options bc Eden is significantly farther along the corruption process that they really can’t say what Eden would want, Jackie is here and okay for at least a minute and like the show, they think it works and they celebrate and even demon Eden is quiet for a minute before the tears start and Jackie dies in Tyler’s arms and in between Tyler’s breakdown about her, Eden, the real Eden, comes through for half a second to call out for her, breaking down in tears before the demon regains control.

And maybe they still can’t save Eden, but at the very least, they can take the literal demonic parasite off of her soul before she dies and she also doesn’t fucking die by getting thrown down a well!!!

Again, I don’t know why, but I feel like her being non voyant could have a greater meaning. Lucas never leaves Max’s side. He and El are the ones that try helping Max navigate her new life.

Erika and Dustin leading Hellfire together, Eddie saw potential in both these little weirdos I think.

Steve to have a black girlfriend. I know people might say, oh but why bring race into this? Well because I myself am black and I’d see it as a sort of cannon self insert fanfic and there’s nothing better than that.

Also in regards to Stevo in a relationship, if what the Duffer brothers want is for Stancy (🤮) to come back, why not make Ms. Wheeler a little jealous for once.

Robin’s gonna get the girl. Purrr. This is more of a it HAS to happen. It’s kind of a way to force the Duffer brothers to pay reparations for the lack of Fruity Will content.

Will also needs to explore his sexuality beyond Mike Wheeler. I don’t know. I just feel like if he’s always going to have Mike as his “heart” then he’s just destined to see it break.

Jonathan and Nancy move in together but they can’t make it work because their communication skills suck so that forces them to finally be honest with each other about things. I’m a Jancy shipper, and I was disappointed in the ending they got because even after everything Jonathan would still rather lie to benefit Nancy than stand up for himself. Like please you’re the only hope for the Wheeler x Byers pair and you’re ruining it.

For Steve to bring Dustin to visit Eddie’s grave, if he even gets one.

For 8 to come to Hawkins and help El defeat the upside down for good. There’s no way she just disappeared after season 2 and no one’s mentioned her.

Susie (and Eden Ofc 😏) meet the entire gang and we see Susie and Dustin actually interact in person.

Hello!! Thank you they are soft and I love them all :’) tbh If The Plot ever wants to reveal itself to me then I’ll post updates rip I only have bits and pieces of it atm so I’ll share some of what I have figured out ! this still might get a bit long though so I’ll put it under the cut ^^

disclaimer first of all the world they’re in is fantasy-based but the way I draw them is more modern-esque because my lazy ass doesn’t want to design their canon outfits! also they look a lot happier when I draw them anyway moving on!

there are two major kingdoms, one of humans and one of dragons, that have been on-and-off at war with each other for as long as anyone can remember. the human kingdom eventually manages to wipe out the dragons by striking a deal with (insert villain here), but once they’ve won (villain) turns against the humans and kills the royal family to claim power for themselves. So now there’s no dragons save for Shiro (blue) and maaaybe some others(?) and also the human kingdom is under (villain)’s control and it’s all a big mess

Luca (orange) is the second prince of the human kingdom and he somehow manages to not get killed like the rest of his family and instead escapes and goes into hiding in a small little fishing village where he meets Lee (red) and proceeds to befriend him and also heal Lee’s sick mother back to heath. Lee then decides to devote his life to Luca in order to repay the debt and Luca’s like ok I guess I have a self-proclaimed bodyguard now

Plot Happens and the two of them come across a travelling circus group where a certain pair of twins are currently employed. Long story short something happens with an attack and the circus tents and caravans all catch fire and Maia (pink) and Ronan (green) are like welp we’re out of a job our parents are halfway across the world where the fuck do we go,, and Luca is like hey you two seem pretty cool and know a thing or two about fighting come with us if you help me take back the throne I can arrange for you two to go back home to your parents so Maia and Ronan are like. ok ! 

(More plot..more plot….) the four of them are in a larger city probably and there’s a scuffle happening in an alleyway or smth idk. Anyway they decide to see what’s going on but as they’re making their way over Yanmei (purple) darts out in front of them, nearly takes out Ronan’s eye when he tries to check if she’s okay, and proceeds to run away farther into the city. They lose her but find her again later on so that’s cool. She’s a bit battered but most of the blood isn’t hers anyway. She refuses to talk to them for a good few hours but after realizing that they’re not leaving anytime soon she tells them that she escaped from the pleasure house where she had been forcibly employed from a young age by killing one of her clients. She agrees to come along with them on the condition that they not turn her in and promise to keep her as far away from her old boss as possible. (Luca also thinks she’s pretty but pieces together very quickly that its Not Happening, ever)

Cut to Shiro and Eden’s (grey) side of things, they’ve known each other for a very long time. They met when Eden tried to break into the palace garden and Shiro tried to kill him for it. So to speak, Eden did not die that day and instead kept coming back until Shiro eventually came to enjoy his company. That’s all in the past now though, things got much much worse! When the dragon kingdom fell Eden and two of his siblings tried to escape together, but were met by a group of dragon hunters who killed Eden’s siblings since he’s never been very powerful and wasn’t strong enough to fight them off. In a fit of desperate rage he decides to give up his name and become a demon in exchange for power to kill the hunters,, it works and they’re dead but Eden’s mind is being eaten by darkness and his personality is all over the place great job. So when he meets up with Shiro again things are very Not The Same and it’s tbh a really manipulative and emotionally abusive relationship on Eden’s part.

As for how Eden and Shiro meet up with the rest of the group….idk yet r i p. I’m thinking that they’ll recognize Luca because he’s the prince of the kingdom that destroyed theirs and who wouldn’t recognize that tbh,, so they plot to kill him and instead are convinced to join him somewhere along the way ?? Eden definitely has ulterior motives in doing so, I just haven’t figured them out yet

18. Things you said when you were scared

The thing about traveling across a demon-infested desert with a target on your back is that you run across a lot of, you know, demons. Many of them were corrupted versions of otherwise harmless animals, like the hound that almost killed Clara when she and Hanniel first met. They were low level, so the angel always made quick work of them.

This one was a bit different.

A scorpion three times Hanniel’s size sprung up from the earth not far from where they’d just broken down camp. It was a mottled black and brown, with heavy claws and a wicked-looking stinger. It swung at Hanniel, who met the attack with their sword, barely denting its skin. Hanniel brought their sword down, attempting to cut the appendage off but getting scooped up by the other claw. The scorpion began to tighten its grip and the angel cried out.

Jon grabbed Clara by the waist to keep her from running towards them.

“You can’t help them,” he said. “You’ll end up dead.”

Clara tried to pry him off but Lucas was stronger than her. “We have to do something, we can’t- I couldn’t stand it if they-”

A loud boom caught both their attentions. Through her tears, Clara saw Hanniel, splashed in black blood, lying in the sand. The angel’s hands were glowing, and the scorpion’s claw was gone, a mangled mess. The scorpion made a screeching noise, quickly crawling towards Clara and Jon, who simultaneously cursed.

Wailing, the demon reared back, readying its stinger. Clara shrieked. She and Jon dove in different directions as the tail came down.

But it never did.

Clara opened her eyes, and Hanniel had grabbed onto the stinger, their hands slowly losing that glow. The angel pulled, throwing the scorpion a good distance away, the end of its tail coming off in their hands.

“Holy shit,” Jon said, mouth agape. Hanniel ignored him, walking towards the scorpion, picking up their sword on the way.

The demon had landed on its back, rocking side to side, trying to flip over. It shrieked as the angel came near, rocking faster. Hanniel didn’t waste any time in the killing blow, stabbing the thing in the head. And the desert was quiet.

The angel sheathed the sword, walking back to the prophets, where Jon was losing his mind over how cool that was, and Clara’s hands were still shaking.

“Hanniel,” Jon started, “has anyone ever told you you’re a badass?”

They gave him a blank look, opening their mouth to say something and suddenly falling to their knees. The prophets ran towards them, Clara getting on her knees to grab Hanniel’s shoulders. The sticky black blood burned her hands, but Clara didn’t care. Hanniel’s eyes wouldn’t open.

“No,” she said. “Hanniel wake up, you can’t let a shitty scorpion kill you. Jon, help me, maybe- maybe it’s the blood. Do you have a towel?”

Jon threw down his bag and started rummaging through it, and Clara cradled Hanniel in her arms.

“Please, please don’t go. We can’t make it without you.” The prophet looked up, briefly thinking of praying before glancing at Jon. He’d found a piece of cloth and doused it with water, kneeling down to clean Hanniels skin and armor.

“How do you even give first aid to an angel?” He asked.

“I-I don’t know, you think I’ve ever tried? This is so shitty, I’ve never really had anyone to care about like this and now a giant ass scorpion might have killed them, I hate this. I hate this desert.”

“God,” Jon said, sitting back and running his hands over his head. “I know- wait. Someone you-”

Hanniel coughed, turning away from Clara before going into a coughing fit, black blood leaving their mouth. Where their hands touched the sand it turned into glass, the glow emanating from their palms again.

“Are you okay?” Clara asked, scared to touch them. Hanniel wiped their mouth, giving the prophet a strange look before nodding.

“Fine… I’m fine.” They said, voice thick. Hanniel started to cough.

Lucas fished out a canteen of water, and the angel took it graciously, flushing out their mouth before taking a drink. Jon went to put stuff back in his bag, saying “Clara help me out.”

She did, handing him crumpled clothes and other random bits.

“So are we… going to talk about that?” he started, and Clara shook her head.

“There’s nothing to talk about, I was just… scared.”

“Yeah, but that doesn’t make it any less true.”

Clara looked at the angel, whose eyes were closed again, breathing deeply. Their armor was still smudged with blood.

“Can we drop it? I’m not pouring out my angst to you.”

“Alright, but just know if there was an angel I liked, I’d tell you about it.”

“Oh shut up.”

20. Things you said that I wasn’t meant to hear

They found a small, abandoned chapel a bit before dawn. It was the only building they’d seen with some semblance of a roof, so they all decided it’d be the best place to rest during the day. Jon and Clara made a couple of cots in front of what was left of the pews, and Hanniel went to stand at the altar. They ran their fingers along the pulpit, wiping away the dust.

Jon gave an exaggerated yawn, curling up the floor. “I don’t know about y’all, but I’m so sleepy.”

Clara yawned too, and Hanniel set their sword on one of the pews.

“Sleep,” they said. “I’ll be here.”

“You’re just going to sit down and watch us for eight hours?” Clara asked. She knew Hanniel didn’t need to sleep and thought this part of what was essentially babysitting the two prophets must be painfully boring.

“It’s my job,” they said with finality, indicating the end of the conversation. Sometimes the prophet didn’t know why she tried.

Jon was already snoring softly by the time she settled down to sleep, the sloth. Early morning rays began to shine through the gaps in the ceiling. It took a little while, but eventually, Clara managed to fall into a fitful rest.

There really wasn’t a lot to do when you were a Guardian whose main job was to protect two people, even during their sleep. Hanniel had made it through a lot of idle hours, but this was their first time having anyone to watch over since the Second War. It was a lot more stressful than they remembered, thanks to the demons that were bent on killing them.

Still, they liked this part of the job best. They didn’t have to talk to either of the prophets. Jon usually had some story to tell or an observation to mull over, and Clara… Clara made Hanniel flustered. She didn’t talk nearly as much as Jon, but she saw everything, and when she looked at the angel they felt that maybe she could see right through them, to parts of the angel that Hanniel had forgotten were there.

Maybe they had too much time to brood after all.

The angel looked at her now, sleeping with a peacefulness that wouldn’t last. It never did, Clara always slept with nightmares. Hanniel knew because they could hear her heartbeat spike up and slow down again. Sometimes Clara wouldn’t go to sleep again for almost an hour. The angel had been wanting to say something to her about it, but what?

Hanniel didn’t know how to talk to people, least of all Clara. They always came off as cold, which wasn’t necessarily what they were going for. The angel wasn’t used to conversations where the other person didn’t want something, as pathetic as that sounded. Hanniel shook their head, dispelling that thought process. It helped no one if they let themselves dwell on that. Still…

“I wish we could have one conversation where I didn’t run you off.”

It felt nice to say it aloud if only to get it out of Hanniel’s head. Not that it would ever happen. Which was fine, because the angel still didn’t know which of them was truly needed in Eden. It was best not to get attached to a girl who might be dead soon.

“Who are you talking to?”

Hanniel froze, looking to see Clara awake, head propped up on her fist. Her short hair stuck up at odd ends, and she still looked half-asleep.

“I- no one, go back to sleep.”

The prophet blinked, stifling a yawn. “Not sure if I can, it’s too bright in here. But you said-”

“Why, because it makes you seem human?” Clara was getting up now, taking the blanket with her as she made to sit near the angel on the pew. “You don’t always have to be so guarded Hanniel. Jon and I don’t bite.”

The angel glanced at Jon, who was still asleep. He was a heavier sleeper than Clara. “It’s- I’ve never really-”

“Talked to people? We have that in common then.” Clara chuckled, absentmindedly patting her hair down. “I think it works like a Q&A, every question gets an answer. You can go first.”

She gave the angel a small, nervous smile, and Hanniel sighed. This wouldn’t be happening if they had decided to internalize this morning’s thoughts, but maybe this was a good thing? They thought for a moment, before starting off with a simple one.

“How’d you find yourself with that friend of yours, Adam?”
