it is genuinely weird to me that diabetes (both type 1 and 2) rarely comes up in people's concept of disabilities, both as a visible and invisible one. Especially given that type 2 is relatively common, and that type 1 is imo very distinctively visible and often quickly physically disabling. Lots of medical equipment and lots of room for error with immediate physical consequences.

#like lmfao let me tell you. youve either got a pump or cgm physically hooked up to you that beeps LOUDLY #or youre doing injections with relative frequency #but ive actually never seen diabetes mentioned in broader discussions of disabilities #which is only specifically weird to me because its NOT deeply uncommon #most people know a diabetic!#type 1 is admittedly way less common than i tend to think #like when i realized being trans was more common that type 1 my mind was blown a bit ngl #disability
