today is just not the day to be engaging with carnists. I keep making myself upset by looking at bullshit. People have already decided that we’re incapable of making arguments worth listening to, and have already decided that our perspectives belong in the trash, have already decided that any attempt to reach out to people is “forcing our beliefs onto them” and have already decided that that is fascism. It’s fucking exhausting.

Not to mention the fact that “trying to convince me to do something I don’t like is a slippery slope into fascism” is literally the *mainsteam* western perspective on what fascism is and is a huge part of why fascism has been successful in recent cuture wars, because no one sees the actual threat it poses and only can “identify” fascism by when they personally are being “forced to do something they don’t want to do”

there’s just nothing you can do to defend yourself against carnists a lot of the time. It’s fucking exhausting

#mine #personal #and before anyone says it I'm not saying that's their ONLY argument for why veganism is an entry into fascism #but it's definitely a core argument #I do also see them conflating vegans with the people who say we need to depopulate #which honestly I don't even feel like entertaining #where do you even connect the dots between us and the people who say that #I get based on vibes why you might mistakenly see a similarity #but where is the actual causal throughline #where do you see people falling down that rabbithole *from veganism*#I'm not saying that vegans never end up in that kind of ideology #but can we actually see a specific trend of veganism specifically pushing people into that brainrot?#like let's have an exposee on vegan spaces if that's the case no?#hell we have so much evidence of fascists specifically organizing within various spaces with the sole intent to recruit people #and usually we can even find records of fascists organizing these things like when they organize to use (t)radfem shit to recruit #so where are the signs that anything like that is happening with veganism
