you were never really one to believe in love, just the mere thought of falling so hard for someone making you cringe.
but despite your many efforts to block out all those confusing emotions, there was one person who just might’ve been your hardest catch yet,
song mingi
you remember the first time you walked into the small and cozy coffee shop, the smell of hot chocolate welcoming you as soon as you stepped inside. it was a quiet place that people went to either catch up with a new friend or work on things that they should’ve had done by now.
and more than often, you found yourself in the tucked-in corner next to the tinted windows, fingers grazing over the keyboard of your computer while you sipped on your coffee. which to you, meant nothing more than a late afternoon study session that had you on edge due to your professor’s late assignments that he’d sprung out of nowhere.
you found this little shop to put you at ease, which is exactly why you spent most of your free time here alone, taking in just how good it felt to let go every once and a while.
of course, you did bring a friend along with you sometimes, but they never seemed to appreciate all the little things you did.
the different kinds of people that would come and go, the way a chalkboard ran across a whole wall and people had an opportunity to write down how they were feeling that day. and one of the things you found most attractive about it here would have to be the selection of cakes and cookies they had on display at all times.
it made you feel like a kid all over again, and it didn’t help the fact that they let you taste test some of their newest additions. but that might’ve been since you’d visited them so often, which came to no one’s surprise.
but one thing you had never truly came to see, was the pair of eyes that lingered over you whenever the bell on the door would jingle at around four pm. or the small smile that painted their face when you sat down at your usual spot.
mingi had come to know you since you’d moved into the area, only ever making small talk when you ordered your usual coffee with three sugars and only a dash of creamer. it was like you made this job ten times better, but he wasn’t sure if he’d ever tell you that.
and as if you were reading his mind, the sound of a bell ran through the shop as you smiled warmly at him. he tried not to seem too happy about your presence, looking at you from the corner of his eyes to make sure you didn’t catch him checking you out.
his arm nudged san’s, nodding his head over to you so he knew to take your order. “dude, are you kidding me right now?” san said, his voice laced with amusement. “you need to talk to her, not me.”
mingi scoffed, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” but they both knew exactly what was going on, and mingi’s pride would never give in. he didn’t know what was wrong with him, he was usually the one to make the first move when it came to dating.
but there was something about you that made him shy, and he was starting to get confused about all his emotions. you were too pretty to him, and he was scared that if he said one thing to you, you would call him out and not want anything to do with him.
so he decided to do the one thing he knew he’d have a chance with; beg san to find out more information about you. though now that he thinks about it he made it easier for san to find a way to flirt with you, and that made him want to punch his best friend for even suggesting anything.
san looked at him, sighing when he saw mingi was trying to cover up how panicked he was inside. “fine, but I swear to god this is the last time.”
and so it was. mingi still remembers the way san asked you question after question, and he couldn't lie and say he didn't feel bad for bombarding you with them.
but it was worth all the cringey and awkward conversations because that night, about an hour past the whole in the wall shop closed down for the day, mingi sat across san with stars in his eyes as the older one talked to him about every he'd found out about you.
your favorite color, what you're going to college for, your hobbies, and just about everything he could fit in before heading home for the night.
it made a shy smile spread across mingi's face, and it didn't seem to leave. well, that is until he fell asleep.
but as much as he felt like he could talk about you all day, just going off of the things san said, it would make him feel even better if he'd actually be able to talk to you.
and not just from taking your order
"it's not that hard, man." he said to himself, a horrible attempt to use the small amount of courage he'd been saving up. "you've done this before, it'll be just like a walk in the park."
and now that he thinks back on the whole mess of a situation, he laughs at how shot his nerves were that day. considering where you both are today, it's like he'd been worrying over nothing.
as soon as you saw a glimpse of his red hair moving towards your direction, you felt a jolt of happiness in your body while you moved a piece of your hair out of your face.
you heard him cough, and you took that as him making you aware of his presence. "uh, it's y/n— right?" he said, his words coming out rushed even though hed told himself to be calm.
you turned your head to the side, hands playing with a napkin on the table. "yes, I am. can I help you?" you saw him shift uncomfortably onto his other leg, and he shoved his hands in his pockets while his eyes fixed on your lips.
"do you think we could hang out sometime? there's this really good italian place down that street that opened not too long ago.."
little did you know, that restaurant would end up being one of your favorites.
—
mingi's eyes fluttered open, taking in the light that was peeking through the curtains. he'd be freezing if it wasn't for the heavy blanket pulled over both of you, but he only really cared if you were warm enough.
it's been almost a year since you both had started dating, and if you were honest it's felt like much longer than that.
you were at the happiest point you think you'd ever been, and never in your life did you think someone like mingi would love you endlessly. it was a perfect match, and never in did it truly occur that people this perfect actually exist.
he felt your body dip into his touch, your back against his chest as he smiled warmly at you. "are you awake, baby?"
you groaned at him, not wanting to wake up just yet. his fingers traced shapes on your thighs, soon making their way up to your stomach and running over the stretch marks that lay on your skin.
"mm, mingi." your voice was low as you spoke to him, and you couldn't help the soft moan that slipped past your lips when his hand played with the hem of your underwear, teasing you.
you felt him smile against your neck, his lips soon attaching themselves to the skin below your ear and he kissed the area softly. "yes?"
without any more words, you grabbed the hand that was teasing you and pulled it up your body, slowly guiding it up your shirt and making his large hand squeeze your already hard nipple.
he caught on to what you wanted quickly, grinding into your ass while his lips and hand worked on your body slowly.
you'd always loved how his lips felt on you. whether it be on your own, your neck, or any other part you couldn't help but want more when he'd pull away.
and he knew what they did to you, which is why he always made sure to take his time kissing your body before anything else. "mingi, I need more."
a sharp gasp left you when he pushed the covers off of you both, moving to lay between your legs as he caught notice of what you were wearing.
it was one of his striped black and white shirts, only one button holding him back from adoring your body. "I don't remember saying you could use my clothes," he kissed up your stomach, "do you think I could have it back?"
you giggled, doing him a favor and slowly taking off the shirt all while keeping eye contact. he felt his cock grow harder when he saw the wet patch on your panties, and he couldn't help but spread your legs open as he layed down on his stomach.
"lay back," you did, but couldn't help and look down at him while he did what he does best.
his hands slid up and down your inner thighs, stopping once they reached the top of your underwear and pulling them down painfully slow. he'd always loved how sensitive you were, and it always made him so impatient with how wet you got when he's barely even done anything.
maybe it was because of how hard it was starting to get for him to control himself that he let himself go, or it could've been because he's always wanted to taste you, but without any warning his mouth connected with your core and he moaned into you.
"ah, fuck!" you moaned, throwing your head back as your back arched. at this point you didn't even care that your neighbors might hear you, and that thought left as soon as it came when he wrapped his arms around your legs, pushing you even harder onto his tongue.
your mouth was wide open, eyebrows furrowing when he slipped a finger in you as his lips closed around your clit, sucking on it harshly.
"so good, you taste so fucking good." his breath was hot against you, and a silent cry left your mouth when his finger curled up inside you.
you were close, and the more his movements sped up the harder it was getting for you to hold on. "mingi— I'm gonna cum-"
as soon as those words came out you regretted it, and you watched him pull away fast before leaning back on his legs.
but it's was impossible for you to get frustrated, because the view in front of you was more than enough to push you over the edge. his hand moved over the bulge in his shorts, slowly moving up and down as his head fell back.
"god, I can't wait to fuck you." his eyes roamed your body, taking in the way your hair stuck to your forehead. "hold your arms above your head, doll."
trying your hardest to ignore the slick that lined your inner thighs, your arms raised and you gripped the pillow covers while you watched him pull his shorts down.
no matter how many times you've had sex with him, his cock never fails to make your core throb with anticipation. the tip was bright red, and a vein ran from underside the base all the way to the tip. just the thought of tasting him had drool pooling in your mouth.
he took one of your legs and placed it on his shoulder, gripping your calf as he ground down into you. "you're always so good for me, and you never fail to make me weak,"
"my valentine."
he pushed in slowly, watching your every movement to make sure that you weren't in any pain. your eyes screwed shut, taking in the way he filled you up perfectly. it was like you two were made for eachother, a perfect fit.
his hips soon found a rhythm that had you both seeing stars, the only thing being heard throughout your shared apartment being your moans and his grunts along with the sound of skin on skin.
his skin was warm against yours, beads of sweat trickling down his chest and onto his abs the flexed with every thrust he gave you. "mingi, right there!"
he payed attention to the way you squeezed around him, not wanting to cum just yet and trying his hardest to feel you cum first. "you close, sweetheart?"
you nodded your head, unable to form proper words with the way his cock kept hitting your sweet spot. "f-fuck,"
your lower half felt numb except where you both met, and he dropped the leg that was on his shoulder so he could lean down and reach deeper inside you.
it was the way the tip of his cock hit your cervix multiple times that made your legs twitch, your body going numb as you came with a loud moan. it was too much for mingi to handle, and he could feel himself slip over the edge when you screamed his name.
his hips slowed down, pulling out of you and rolling on his back beside you. you were both exhausted, but as much as you wanted to snuggle into his chest and let sleep take over you, you both really needed to get cleaned up.
"I'll go turn the shower on," he said, kissing your lips and sitting up. you couldn't help but laugh at him, it was like he knew what you were thinking.
"thank you, mingi."
he could feel your eyes on him when he stood up and made his way to the bathroom, and some part of him made him feel all shy like he hadn't just ruined you five minutes earlier.
"if you keep staring at me like that, I might have to go back in for round two." he laughed out.
you giggled, pulling the blanket over your body, "happy valentine's day, baby."

Going in blind: Watching season 4 for the first time. Random thoughts.
I never said anything about it before but I love Shadow Weaver's DCAU Batman eyes. They're so expressive.
Episode 1: Okay...I wasn't expecting Catra to do that. I mean, it makes sense. If she has leverage over Hordak then she's basically in charge of the Horde and that's what she's wanted (or at least believes she wants) since episode 1. It's an aspect that made her a good antagonist, that she's not blind to the evil of the Horde, she just doesn't care as long as she herself is secure. Which naturally begs the question, when the rebellion and the princesses are crushed, when the Horde is on top, when Adora is dead, when Catra finally has everything she's ever wanted...will she actually finally be happy? Somehow, I have my doubts.
I definitely feel for Glimmer in this. When you go through as big a loss as she did you need to be able to feel and vent if you're ever going to get through it. It doesn't have to be right away but everyone doing everything in their power to avoid the topic entirely can make you feel like you're going crazy. It'a especially bad for her since it unintentionally makes it feel like everyone is acting like it doesn't matter that Angela is gone when it clearly means everything to Glimmer.
Episode 2: I actually had a potted cactus plant once. Accidentally forgot about it and left it outside for an entire winter. Once the snow was gone the cactus looked like it had melted.
I kind of want to see what an interaction between Double Trouble and Clayface from the Harley Quinn animated series would look like. I'm guess Catra was just testing how good Double Trouble was as a doppelganger because it doesn't seem like she did anything while Adora was being distracted, though I suppose that could be a reveal in a later episode.
Not much to say except that I love how buff Huntara is while still clearly being a woman. Like, women can have a variety of different body types, as this series and Steven Universe show, and Huntara's build isn't just, like, Bow's body with lipstick and ponytail and the animators calling it a day. No, she looks like a freakin' jacked adult woman.
Episode 3: I didn't figure out the Flutterina = Double Trouble twist until a minute before it was revealed, so good job there. Before that I was wondering if Flutterina was some fan's original character where they won some contest where their OC got to be in the show for an episode. She was giving off some weird self-insert vibes. That twist made it all work though. It's honestly not a bad plan. Shapeshifters haven't really been a thing in the series before now so there's no reason to suspect it. Even if they did they'd probably be expecting it by way of magic or technology, while Double Trouble's seems to be a natural ability.
I like that even though Bow is definitely the goofier one of the trio he is still consistently shown as competent. That's never in question. He was very heroic and reassuring to the villagers this episode. I get why those kids idolize him so much.
Catra's having guilt over what she did with the portal and to Entrapta and her response is basically to just double-down. She doesn't know any other way to be. Not going to lie, I am kind of hoping we get another moment in the show where Adora just completely overwhelms Catra with the sheer power of She-Ra. I'm not saying like brutalize her or anything but just something where Catra is made to realize just how powerful Adora is and that she could just destroy Catra if she had a mind to do so.
Episode 4: Well, I was saying I wanted Adora to do it but I guess I don't mind Glimmer being the one to get some good shots in on Catra. Like I predicted, Shadow Weaver's moving in to become her teacher like she was with her father. Honestly I like that that was more Adora's problem than Glimmer using her as bait, which she seemed to get over pretty quick. Yeah, it was kind of a heartless thing to do but it was an understandable tactic and she clearly outright told Adora that she did it and why afterwards, which at least means she's still being honest.
It occurs to me that Glimmer and Catra may be the ones running parallel right now. Both are basically leading their respective sides of the war. They both have lost someone very important to them. And both are trusting someone they probably shouldn't. Both even have outfits that've been updated in the intro. The difference is Glimmer's just trying to deal with a bad situation while Catra's is entirely self-inflicted.
Minor thing but I like Glimmer's new outfit this season. I'm sure this is the intention but it makes her look older and more mature. A little more muscular in some shots too.
Episode 5: Heart of Etheria project. No idea what that is but assumedly whoever's a part of it doesn't like Light Hope and Mara being friends. Sounds like it's very much interested in She-Ra being just a warrior, and perhaps a tool, for the greater good. It does make me wonder though how much Light Hope remember from when she was rebooting. Even if she deleted the Mara memory she could potentially still have the memory of her and Adora watching the Mara memory, as well as Adora asking to be her friend.
Episode 6: Yep. Scorpia; definitely favorite supporting character. There is something kind of funny about her whole "Scorpions are loyal" line when you remember the story about the Frog and the Scorpion, where it stings the frog despite it meaning death for itself as well simply because that is its nature. But finally we're having someone go save Entrapta, and I can only assume at some point Scorpia's going to access the power of the Black Garnet.
The parallels between Catra and Hordak are definitely at their max here with that speech of hers to him. She's basically trying to convince herself that she doesn't need anyone, the timing of which is appropriate since she just drove away Scorpia and now truly doesn't have anyone. Not that I blame Scorpia, obviously. Like Adora before her, however good you believe someone can be and that you can help them, at some point you just have to cut the toxic people out of your life. You have the right to be happy too.
And man, Bow is just the best. He saw something was wrong between Adora and Glimmer and defused the situation like (snap) that, pushing them to talk like any sane person would.
Episode 7: I'm sure it is just because I've seen way too many TV shows and movies (both animated and live action) that don't do it but it is just such a relief to have a show where the characters just TALK and LISTEN to each other. It doesn't solve all their issues but they're at least not being stupid and freakin' petty. It helps the drama feel a lot less forced and contrived.
Episode 8: A little bit of amusement in Bow thinking at first that Glimmer and Adora didn't even notice he was gone despite them coming to his rescue very shortly afterwards, given Catra is only now realizing Scorpia has left and assumedly she did so a while ago. Bow and Sea Hawk hadn't been gone for that long so it's not unreasonable Glimmer and Adora wouldn't be worried about their absence (Bow was literally talking about "me time" when they last saw him), while Catra is only noticing Scorpia's absence now and it was because she wanted something. Like Scorpia said, she's a bad friend.
Kind of ironic given that a lot of Catra's issues are the direct result of Shadow Weaver giving her very little love growing up but it does seem this tough love is probably what'll get through to Catra the best. She might finally stop making bad decisions and lashing out if she's forced to live with the consequences of them, like Adora told her last season.
Glimmer gets a bit of slack from me since she suffered through a huge loss, that being her mother, and then was immediately thrown into being queen right after. It'd be hard for anyone to be 100% on their game and well-adjusted in a situation like that, and I buy that she was on some level resentful of Adora for coming back instead of her mother, even if unintentionally so. What definitely helps is that Glimmer very clearly and immediately regretted what she said to Adora. Like Catra she's lashing out but unlike Catra Glimmer recognizes some of the damage she's doing and knows, at least in this case, that she went too far.
Episode 9: Now that I can see the design in color I definitely prefer Mara's She-Ra with pants to Adora's She-Ra with shorts. Honestly, while the differences are pretty minor, I do think Mara's She-Ra design is overall a lot better than Adora's. Sharper shoulder guards. Bigger cape (especially the cape, I love capes). I don't know, there's just a lot that clicks with it and I wouldn't mind Adora getting a similar outfit later.
Madam Razz definitely had a Yoda feel this episode. I was very much expecting her to start wacking Mara with a stick over the sugar like Yoda did with R2. Though while that was Yoda acting crazy, for Razz it's because she experiences time out of order, and I don't think I've ever seen that concept taken to this extent, or at least done this way before. There are characters like River Song from Doctor Who, Professor Paradox from Ben 10, or even the Reverse-Flash who interact with other characters in time out of order but those characters are still on a linear path from their own perspective, even when travelling through time. Razz is just bouncing around her own timeline, seemingly not even any real reason or cause to it like Subaru from Re:Zero. Clearly she's not just remembering things oddly because her talk about things of the present are heard by people in the past and have an effect. I wonder if maybe the reason why is because Razz was at ground zero of Mara's actions and this is a side-effect of pulling Etheria away from the rest of the universe.
Bringing more Star Wars into this, it basically sounds like the Heart of Etheria project has turned Etheria into a magic Starkiller Base; storing power that'll be unleashed to destroy whole planets. And jeez, I think this was the first time I really felt creeped out by Light Hope when she was talking to Mara.
I'm looking forward to seeing what it means that the First Ones only made the sword and that Etheria made She-Ra. If that's the case, why is only the sword able to bring out the She-Ra form? Is it like MCU Thor's hammer and the weapon was just meant to help him control the power he already had? Or is what we think is She-Ra not actually She-Ra and that form that Adora and Mara take is just a stand-in for the real thing?
Episode 10: It didn't even occur to me until now but Double Trouble's capture is another blow to Catra's circle of "friends" too. They were at least able to make her laugh. One less person for her to talk to and just...really just distract her from her thoughts.
It's a good dilemma this episode presents about what to do with the Heart of Etheria. The safest and probably best option is to just dismantle it, like Adora and Bow want, since it could easily lead to the destruction of the entire planet if it goes off. Not the mention there's so little they know about it and what it was intended for and the one person who can potentially tell them, Light Hope, they were warned not to trust. But it's not hard to understand where Glimmer is coming from in wanting to use that power to fight the Horde. They're already losing the war and now she knows Hordak Prime and his FAR more powerful forces are on the way. Tapping into the Heart is a huge risk but she's not seeing any other paths for the rebels to win. It's a really good dilemma, with good arguments presented from both sides, and I buy this widening the schism between Adora and Glimmer.
Episode 11: I have mixed feelings on King Micah still being alive. On the one hand there's a lot of good potential interactions we can now have with him, primarily between Glimmer and Shadow Weaver, and he is a fun character. But on the other I can't help but wonder if this kind of lessens the impact of what Angela gave up to overcome the false reality. Part of what made it so emotional was that she had to accept the person she loved was dead and not coming back...except now we see that he wasn't dead and now he is coming back. Yeah, their family lost out on years together and that does still carry some emotional weight but I was already also half-expecting Angela to come back later in the series because she's stuck between dimensions, meaning there's a chance she could still be alive. If both Glimmer's parents come back then that really feels like it takes a lot of weight out of her story. But I guess we'll see what happens.
Also, why did the Horde exile him to Beast Island? Why not just kill him?!
Episode 12: So the Horde exiles Micah to Beast Island instead of killing him. The First Ones protect their secrets by sending their bad tech to Beast Island. Does no one know how to just destroy things in this world?
Ohhh, I am so looking forward to next episode. While it's debatable whether Glimmer should be going through with her plan she is at least being smart with how she's going about it. Double Trouble was being paid by Catra to work for the Horde, not out of any sense of loyalty. Glimmer has the resources of Bright Moon at her disposal so it's reasonable she could pay them more to switch sides. Double Trouble was very good at sabotaging even a group as tight-nit as the heroes, so Hordak and Catra are probably easy pickings with all their issues.
Episode 13: ....WELL THAT AIN'T GOOD!
I'll admit, I had a little bit of an unintended laugh. After all we've heard about Horde Prime, like this shadowy all-powerful monster, I wasn't expecting the fabulous flowing dreadlocks and smoothness. Credit where it's due, man has charisma and charm, which goes a long way in helping your big evil world conqueror not be a very flat character, because it's doubtful he's going to have the same kind of sympathetic motivation as Hordak or complexity as Catra to keep him elevated.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Double Trouble kicking at Catra while she's down. Adora and Scorpia were honest but they never wanted to hurt Catra. Not so much with Double Trouble and they just shove reality into her face. Everyone leaves Catra because of Catra. She's the common factor. It's her fault and no one else's. Again, I don't know for certain if Adora and Catra get together at the end (Catra would have a LOT to make amends for regardless) but Double Trouble was definitely implying Catra had feelings for her with the way they put Catra's hand on "Adora's" cheek while talking about how she left her.
I like that we see Glimmer's plan actually working at first. The princesses get a massive power boost and decimate the Horde forces. But the minute it starts going wrong she immediately admits Adora was right and she tries to stop the energy flow. I imagine having her there with Catra was intentional by the writers. Despite some parallels, Glimmer can actually accept her failures and work to try and fix things. Unlike Catra, she didn't blame Adora for things going wrong.
So the sword allows the First Ones to control She-Ra and the energy she'd be absorbing from the planet. Assumedly that means there are at least some parts to She-Ra that have nothing to do with the First Ones and thus maybe Adora can still use some of those powers without the sword.
Season 4 verdict: Yeah, the show keeps getting better, though I will admit last season's finale had me more emotional, but that's a bit of an unfair comparison given everything that happened in that finale vs. this one. This is definitely the series hitting its darkest hour, where it feels like EVERYONE lost. Not just the rebels but the Horde as well. The sword and Light Hope are gone and She-Ra (for now) along with them. Glimmer and Catra are basically prisoners. Hordak's probably going to have his personality stripped away. The Fright Zone is in ruins. The only one who's gained anything is Prime.
Really looking forward to what the final season has in store, especially since there seems to be the implication that Catra just saved Glimmer's life.

Gorillaz: Humanz
SHere it is, the comeback tour! I was so excited for this album, I sucked all the singles that came out before I could download the album. This album basically reminded me of the reasons I love Gorillaz. All of them. One particular reason a little too well...
Okay, let's get the elephant out of the room. This album is a bit controversial among the community for playing a little too hard to one of Gorillaz' strengths: showcasing cool artists. There are more than a few tracks where Damon doesn't even show up. Hell, my favorite track doesn't even have it on him. Me, I honestly don't care about that as long as I get to hear good music but for the rest of you die hard Gorillaz fans? Just think of this as a compilation album like NOW That's What I Call Alternative/Indie Hip-Hop/R&B/Electronica/Pop.
See? Rolls off the tongue. Now let's get started.
1. Intro: I Switched My Robot Off
Nice. Real ominous. Gorillaz really know how to build up a presentation. Feels like you're walking through the doors of the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Anybody remember Legends of the Hidden Temple? Were there doors on that stage? Anyway, awesome.
10/10
2. Ascension
Holy hell, Vince really knocks it out of the park on this one. Different beat, nice flow, social commentary...He was not fucking around on this track. Damon's barely on the track but Vince makes up for it with his existential rhymes and chorus back-up. Man, Gorillaz has gotta take advantage of gospel more often.
9/10
3. Strobelite
That didn't take long, did it? Anyway, this is my favorite song on the album. Peven has an incredible voice, the music psychically compels you to dance and...that's it. Sometimes, well usually with me, you just need to go with Simple Yet Awesome. Have a good voice and a good beat. This song has both and I'm pretty sure that one day, a scientist will hear this song and will be inspired by it to cure diabetes.
100/10
4. Saturn Barz
Ah, the lead single from the album. Remember the 360 house, everyone? Yeah, you remember. Glad to have Gorillaz welcome back Reggae into their line-up with Popcaan manning the helms. He and Damon tag-team the eardrums with the power of dread as the instrumentation makes you feel like you're in a haunted house. Welcome back, guys.
25/10
5. Momentz
WELCOME BACK, GUYS! De La Soul returns to say some real shit about time and how you should, respect and stuff. Seriously, awesome track. Kicks so much ass and you can even dance to it as you wonder if this MOMENT will be one of the last times when you feel really happy. Nice...
9/10
6. Interlude: The Non-Conformist Oath
Hey, Steve Martin! I like to imagine a bunch of assholes listening to this and...just not getting it. Not us though. We get it. We're smart. Smarter than those guys...
10/10
7. Submission
This song had to grow on me but years after I got the album and after I learned to appreciate Danny Brown a little more like all humans should, this song became one of my favorites off the album. Don't worry Kelela, he doesn't carry the whole song. Her voice is so beautiful that it can calm a charging rhino or a coked-up Connor McGregor. These make the song a lot classier than it had any right being.
90/10
8. Charger
She's beauty, she's Grace...she's also Jones. Man, I haven't heard from this woman since Corporate Cannibal and she has clearly been keeping up practice. God, how can a woman's laughter both scare and arouse me? Damon's no slouch on this track either, singing about the monster that keeps us all tethered: the charger. I kid, I kid. Hey, did Damon really get a boner on stage when he sung this or are you guys messing with me? Message me if you know.
9/10
9. Interlude: Elevator Going Up
On a recent trip, I tried to go up the elevator but it was card-activated so a desk lady had to help me. That's it.
8/10
10. Andromeda
Damon has to do the heavy lifting here and his muscles have not completely wasted away from lack of use. He tells us to take in our heart and you know what? I did. I took this song directly in my heart...and my playlist.
50/10
11. Busted And Blue
Yeah, this song is a bummer. A good bummer. It's Broken's younger brother who joined the army to make his parents proud after he couldn't get into university like his older brother who managed to form a separate family with his squad and began to think that maybe he was good enough after all before his squad gets bombed and, as he lies legless dying painfully on the ground, a blue butterfly land directly on his outstretched busted hand...
Directed by Mervyn LeRoy
10/10
12. Interlude: Talk Radio
You ever wonder how we get voices in machines? I know you think it's a complicated process but I know a dude who picked up the radio in his electric fan once. Think about it.
8/10
13. Carnival
Again, this song had to grow on me but one day, while I was thinking about Gamzee for a godforsaken reason, I thought "Geez, he talks about the Dark Carnival and the Dark Carnival isn't even some of ICP's best days. What's a good song about a carnival?" Anyway, Anthony can spin a person's mind and mind around just by singing. He's wild.
80/10
14. Let Me Out
Hey, wouldn't it be funny if Mavis was Vince's mother? She's not but that would be funny as well as cool. Her and Pusha T bang on the walls of this track as they rant about the politics at the time of this song. Yeah, they're talking about Trump. That car horn can't protect you forever, you orange bastard.
9/10
15. Interlude: Penthouse
Dear Penthouse: Hi. Does anyone check in on you, just you? I'm here to say I think you're important and you provide a necessary outlet for men to brag about being perverts. At least before the Youtube comment section existed.
Thanks for everything,
mytastessuck
8/10
16. Sex Murder Party
Ooooo, this track puts me in a funky mood. Like, there's a part but there's sex there...and MURDER. So you know it's an awesome party. Kick-ass, right? I know it's kick-ass. Keep dancing, people.
11/10
17. She's My Collar
Pretty sexy song. Gotta love people vauging about being used in a song. That's why we love Offspring, that's why we love Damon on his knees onstage. Hey, there was a post that said Noodle wrote this song about her girlfriend. That was an excellent post. Well done.
9/10
18. Interlude: The Elephant
I SAID GET OUT OF HERE, YOU BASTARD!
8/10
19. Hallelujah Money
Ah, the technical first single. Remember when they said that they weren't going to put this song on the album? Anyway, this is exactly the song we needed after The Incident occurred. Benjamin manages to calm down an entire populace while Damon just fearfully wonders what our future will be like...and he's in the UK. This song is one long terrifying lullaby to an entire country...until the end, anyway.
75/10
20. We Got The Power
A great way to remind listeners that no matter what's happening, no matter who's in charge, we have the power change everything. An excellent message for people who were still recovering from The Incident.
10/10
21. Interlude: New World
Okay, the bonus tracks. Should be nothing special here, right? Just some B-sides and I've never shown favoritism towards B-sides, right?
8/10
22. The Apprentice
A nice song from the same Rag n' Bone Man who brought us "Human". Zebra manages to lay down some nice rhymes as Ray BLK backs them both up with the force of her voice. These guys should form a team with how well they work together. Oh, they should make a virtual band! All they need to do is find an artist...
9/10
23. Halfway To The Halfway House
A very nice song if a bit overshadowed by the others on the album. Still, Peven can't be beat when it comes to crooning and he raises a song from a solid C to a B.
8/10
24. Out of Body
This song had to grow on me also but when it did...lord, this song is weird. Hypnotic suggestions, telephone tones, the song starts then Zebra jumps in to help then who is this person?! Why are people applauding?! Who are you people?! Why are there so many crows gathering outside my house?!
60/10
25. Ticker Tape
Well well well, look who's back. Damon returns with his old friend Kali to join the accuser of the vain Carly Simon to beg us to stay on the album. Sorry Damon, but I got places to do and people to go. There's nothing you can do to convince me to stick around after how long this album already is.
9/10
26. Circle of Friendz
Huh. Seems like a riot is going on. Weird for Gorillaz to get this real. What, this guy is just going to keep saying Circle of Friendz again and again? Is this supposed to affect me? Get real. It'll take a lot more than a nice voice and implications to...
To...
...
...Maybe I should listen to the album again.
11/10
Album score: 25/10
Damn, that took a while. Shouldn't be the case next week when we cover The Now Now. See you then!

- Y. L. Perspective
I wasn't sure what to think when I had read the message aloud. "I want to talk." What could that possibly mean?
"Y/n, I'm sure you're just being dramatic. Maybe he just wangs to check up on how you've been doing, " Toruku suggests, sipping from his box of apple juice. The two of us sat against the brick wall on the outside of the cafeteria, discussing my issue. Giki and Hikishi couldn't join us for lunch because of school work that they had to finish up, and Suga had to meet his friends.
Ever since the party, the only thing that stuck to my mind was my situation with Koushi. But other than that, I had forgotten about certain things that happened. As an example, bumping into Oikawa. And as crazy as it was, the moment completely left my mind for a good five days. Until I got a message from him, saying, "I want to talk."
Oikawa, Toruku, Iwaizumi, and I have known each other ever since the beginning of junior high. The only reason we had separated was because of Moku's tragic death, and our schools. Toruku and I had decided to stick together and go to Karasuno, while Oikawa and Iwa felt their volleyball was more important than staying friends. But honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal. The older we grew, then we realized that we wouldn't stick with our middle school friends.
But what Oikawa had caused between the four of us is what made things awkward.
Around the summer of my first year of high school, we all subtly kept in touch with each other. But then after he had thrown a party around July a fight had broken out between him and Toruku because of me.
Oikawa was telling others cruel things in a group of people that were discussing school, lying about how I acted around him. That I had messed around with him, or how I was jealous of Moku for being with Toruku and took it out on Oikawa. But truth was that Oikawa was the one who liked me, and I never paid too much attention to him because of how guilty I felt for liking my best friend's boyfriend.
Iwaizumi, Oikawa, Toruku, and I all knew what Toru said were false claims that he only told for attention from other girls that he would talk to. Oikawa let his popularity get ahead of him, causing a ruckus to occur that day. The further he would go with these stories, the angrier Toruku and I had grown. Eventually, his mouth ran far enough to drive Toruku to punch him more than I had expected. Oikawa was all bark and no bite, therefore, he didn't fight back. That night is when Toruku and I had realized that we needed to move in from our past and find lives of our own. Ones that wouldn't have to ever run into the two obnoxious duo Oikawa and Iwaizumi.
So you could imagine my anger when seeing him at a party that didn't involve him.
"Uhm.." Toruku takes a bite out of his egg sandwich, munching while talking. "Just text him back! Say 'about what?' I bet that would get you answers."
I groan at his stupidity. Today wasn't the best day to have lunch with Toruku, but who else could relate to me as much as him? So, I do as I am suggested, texting back a simple reply and hoping it would lead me to the best possible outcome.
—
Oikawa
I want to talk
About what?
...
—
"Oh my god, he's typing," I say quickly, dropping any items in my hand to hold the phone in front of Toruku and me. He finishes his egg sandwich and crumbles the wrapper to throw into a bin not too far away from where we sat before crossing his arms in concentration.
It wasn't that I was excited to talk to Oikawa. I was nervous as to what he wanted to discuss with me. Other than school, there wasn't much to talk about with him. All I knew was that he turned into a jackass with an ego.
'What does he even wanna say?'
When my phone vibrated in my hands, I had thought my questions were answered. But only a simple reply was given to me.
—
Oikawa
I want to talk
About what?
I just want to see how you've been doing. How about lunch on Saturday?
—
Toruku frowns at the message. "Why would he want to have lunch after what happened?" He asks me. "Say you're busy." A protective tone overtakes him.
"Ok, ok."
—
Oikawa
I want to talk
About what?
I just want to see how you've been doing. How about lunch on Saturday?
I have a tight schedule, so I don't think I'm free that day.
Hmm
Sunday?
What would we talk about, Toru?
Honestly
I just wanted to see you again
You know, talk?
Mhm
But why? Soon it won't matter
Cause after I saw you on Saturday I realized I had some things to say
Please?
Okay
We'll figure something out
—
"Do you think he still likes you?" Toruku pops in.
"No, I don't think so. But I also haven't been able to see his development, so I wouldn't know," I reply to him. I could either ruin or glorify my relationship with him. That was a bet I wasn't sure I wanted to take. And not only that, but he also had beef with Toruku. Why didn't he ask him to lunch as well? Was it because he didn't run into him during the party?
Now I had yet again another thing to worry about. Right now, my current concern was my first volleyball practice this afternoon. Kiyoko had informed me that this weekend they were to have a practice game with one of the competitive teams. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it or not, but I mine as well have given it a shot.
To be honest, I was a little bit excited. Not only would I be able to see Suga more than in the afternoon, but I could get to know the underclassman more. That was if they even liked me.
"Whatever. I don't need to be worrying about this right now," I tell Toruku as I get up from the wall to throw my trash away. He nods, tossing his trash in the basket as well, before picking up my bag and bento, handing it to me. "Thanks for having lunch with me."
"It's no issue. Just tell me how things go with texting Oikawa and have fun at practice."
"Sure thing."
-
I waited at the front of her classroom. By her, I mean the beauty herself: Kiyoko. She told me earlier that she would run through the rooms the volleyball club uses so that I could get familiar with where I'd be going every day I attended practice. I was in good hands when it came to Kiyoko, one of my very close friends.
Finally, her classroom door opens, followed by the many students held inside to flood the hallways, including Kiyoko. "Hey there!" She throws a hand over my shoulder as we begin walking to the exit of the hall. "You excited?"
"I guess. I'm more nervous than excited," I reply.
"Don't be. The boys are very sweet. If you'd like, I can try giving you a summary of what to expect!" She exclaims, her excitement practically glowing off of her skin.
Once I nod, Kiyoko begins her full explanation of the players. "Well, we have the three third years. Me, Sugawara, and Daichi! And you already know about us. And there are only four second years. There's Tanaka, Ennoshita, Kinoshita, and Narita. Tanaka is a loud person, but he's super hard working and nice to me, so I guess he's okay. As for Ennoshita, he doesn't talk very much, but I wouldn't be rough with him. He seems like the insecure type. And Narita and Kenoshita are like him, except a little more wild! They usually stay in the back of the crowd, though. Then there are the first years— man are they talented. We have this amazing pair of first years, Kageyama and Hinata. Hinata is so good at jumping, probably the best I've ever seen, and a very rowdy boy. Kageyama is usually a prick to everybody, but he's learning to be a team player. Then there is Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. They're pretty simple to predict. Tsuki just bosses around Yamaguchi all the time and they both talk crap about everybody, but they're good friends and good players."
I can't help but widen my eyes at how fast Kiyoko had explained the players. It was as if she had a lite notebook in the back of her mind where she stored every detail about them, knowing every word she wrote like the back of her hand. "...wow, so there's some personality in the team! That's good to hear," I say, taking a deep breath before we both leave the school building and make our way behind it. "I think I know about Kageyama, though. I went to middle school with him and my old friends that were on the team with him weren't very fond of him— but that's all I know. Sugawara just tells me that he's a very talented person, which doesn't say much about his persona."
"Oh yeah! How're things with Sugawara going?" Kiyoko has no hesitation to jump towards the subject. I couldn't blame her, though. It had been a while since we had a girl-on-girl chat.
Embarrassed, I chuckle, staring at the ground as we discuss. "Nothing much. I mean— he did ask me to be his girlfriend, and we made out a couple of times, but that's it!" I act as if the actions weren't such a huge thing.
Kiyoko gasped. "Y/n! You didn't tell me that you were so close to him, I would have teased you way more than I already do! You kissed him?! How many times? When—where?!"
"Shimizu, stop talking so loud!" I exclaimed, raising my brows as the girl pipes down. Kiyoko wasn't ever the type to get so rowdy about things, that is if it didn't have to do with romance. As for that, she was a downer. And if her friend was involved with it then she wouldn't stop with the blabber. "Anyway, after the party, we both spent the night in his car. We didn't do anything but make out. Still, it was so nice," I whine. "He was so gentle and confident at the same time, and I'd never had somebody want to kiss me so badly— y'know? After that, he took me home, and we both slept in my bed for a couple of hours. Once I woke up, he wasn't anywhere to be found. Only my cat and a letter were left on the pillow next to me."
"A letter?" She questions.
"Yeah, explaining his feelings—his feelings,
Shimizu! Isn't that so sweet?! He told me that he was in love with me and never felt so passionate about anybody the way he does with me. But the thing is, I'm not even sure I wanna be in a relationship. And it's hurting both of us. I think I'm just so confused about everything that I can't even make up a decision."
"Hm, that's understandable. It's a big surprise two of my friends are getting together without telling me! Especially since they're so in love with each other. But now you're saying you don't know what to say?" Kiyoko hums. "Well, from the way you talk about him, are you sure that you're not just scared? You seem like you're head over heels, Y/n. What's stopping you?"
Suddenly, a tall shadow stops us in our tracks, interrupting our conversation. "Yeah, what's stopping you?!" A deep voice says as Kiyoko nudges him.
"Daichi, you don't even know what we're talking about!" She says. It was no other than Sawamura, acting silly again.
He wore a black jumpsuit that I assumed was his volleyball uniform and white tennis shoes, topped off with his grin. "Hey, Y/n! You excited for practice?" He asks in enthusiasm, crossing his arms. If I was being honest, Daichi always scared me when confronting me, but I knew he had my back. Therefore, the goosebumps that crawled up my spine had disappeared once I settled into his smile.
"I mean... I'm a bit nervous. But yeah, I'm excited."
Daichi claps his large hands, then points towards a grey building that was only a few meters away from where we stood under the school roof. "Great! Kiyoko can lead you to the locker rooms and the team will meet you in the gym!"
I look to Kiyoko, who's nodding. "Sure thing. Let's go, Y/n." Her hand lightly pushes me towards the direction of the changing rooms.
Once we arrived at a certain locker room, Kiyoko showed me around the place. There were sixteen lockers on each side of the wall and two benches in the middle. Lots of different sports instruments were piled up in a corner, while a few bags were tossed in another. Overall, it seemed like a regular changing room.
"Here, you can use this locker here. No one ever does." Kiyoko points to an empty silver cubby. The others that surrounded it had posters and locker decor on them, telling me they were already claimed by other girls.
I open the locker, placing a few of my things in it like my bag, school vest and tie, and my shoes. After, I turn to Kiyoko, who's standing right behind me with a black bag in her hands. "Here, this is your new uniform. The team will take you more seriously if you have it on."
Taking the baggy, I pull open the zipper, revealing folded clothing inside. It was the same that Daichi had on earlier, except it didn't come with shorts and tennis shoes. Kiyoko told me that I would only need to bring some sport shoes and a white tee to wear under my sweater. "Thanks! Are you gonna be wearing one too?"
"Not today. My uniform is dirty, so I'll be using one from him. Don't worry, once the team is used to you, you'll be able to bend the rules a bit as I do. They don't care very much." She says as she makes her way towards her locker, pulling out a light lavender jumpsuit.
'Crap, does this mean I'm going to have to undress in front of other girls? That's gonna be awkward.' I tell myself, as I hid behind the door of my locker to pull down my skirt and quickly put on the black pants. I exchange my button-up for a comfortable white tee and black sweater, before taking off a few accessories that I had on and slip them into a pocket of my bag. After, I sat on the bench to trade my black long socks for some normal ones and tie on my shoes.
"Ready?" Kiyoko turns to me, fully dressed in her uniform.
"You bet."
-
I hadn't realized how awkward interrupting a practice was until the deed was done. It was sickening, embarrassing, and terrifying.
"Hi everybody," Kiyoko says in a soft tone, setting our bags down near the door while I avoided eye contact with anybody. That didn't help the fact that every one of the players was staring at us, sitting in a circle on the ground.
A loud, raspy voice echoed through the gym, interrupting the bitter silence that ate me up. "Hi, Kiyoko! How was your day today?" I glance up at the person who jogged towards us. He had a huge smile and short buzz cut, already telling me that he was a rowdy one. "And as for you, welcome! You must be the new manager! I'm Ryonosuke Tanaka, one of the best players on this team!" He holds out a hand for me to shake.
'So this must be the second year Kiyoko told me about. Great, I like him already.' I think, bowing before shaking his hand. "I'm Y/n L/n, nice to meet you."
"Tanaka! Show some respect for your upperclassman, will you!" Daichi comments, coming up from behind him. "I'm sorry about him. He's a wild one."
"Oh, that's alright."
When Daichi realizes I'm comfortable enough to glance at the teammates, he quickly moves out of the way. "Oh—let me introduce you properly. Everybody, this is our new manager that Takeda Sensei told us about: Y/n! She's a third-year and is here to help out Kiyoko. She's friends with us third years too, so no funny business!" He looks towards Tanaka. "That means you, Tanaka!"
He yells out, "I—I was just being friendly!"
Daichi simply playfully rolls his eyes. "Why don't you first years come to introduce yourselves, hm?" He suggests as a few boys shuffle through the small crowd to get a better view of me.
"Hey! It's good to see you again, L/n! I'm Shoyo Hinata." He bows. I recognized him immediately when he approached me. The player was short for somebody on a volleyball team and had bright ginger hair that was rough and fluffy, and he practically radiated energy when I was near him. "I hope you have a great time on the team!"
After giving him a brief smile, I shift my eyes towards a pair of first-years that seemed suspicious of my presence in the club. But one of them stepped up to shake my hand and grin. He had brown yet green-tinted hair that appeared soft, and many freckles on his face. "Hi, I'm Tadashi Yamaguchi. A pleasure to meet you!" He cautiously nudges the tall boy next to him.
He rolls his eyes at the slightest, tossing the volleyball in his hands to the ground. "Hi, I'm Tsukishima." He says in a proud tone, bowing.
Then, I fixate my eyes on the boy who stood behind Hinata, staring intently at me. Once he notices that I had caught him, he began stuttering. "I—Uh...I'm Kageyama! Tobio Kageyama." The ravenette puffs up his chest, bowing towards me.
"Ah, yes! I know about you. Did you happen to go to Kitagawa Daiichi during middle school?" I ask, tilting my head to take a mental picture of him.
"Uh..yes. How did you know?"
"I used to hang around the volleyball club a lot and knew a bit about you. But I never would have thought you would go here!" I quickly realize how rude my response appeared. "Oh, crap! I didn't mean it like that."
He shakes his head violently, shutting down my apology. "It's no issue, Y/n! It's great that you know me— I mean— thank you for recognizing me," he says loudly, bowing once more. It became obvious that Kags was a bit nervous to meet me, but it wasn't anything threatening. His bright pink cheeks were more warming than scary.
"Well, Kageyama, it's great to see you again," I giggle. Then, three boys are seen in the corner of my eye, seeming eager to say their hellos. Taking initiative, I greet them. "Uh, hi guys."
"Hey!" They say, maneuvering towards me. The black-haired one shakes my hand first, squeezing it gently. "I'm Ennoshita. Pleased to meet you." Then comes the other two: one with a buzz cut, and the other with dirty blonde hair. "I—I'm Kenoshita! And this is Narita!" He points to the buzz cut boy. "We're all second years, by the way!"
Surprised by so many greetings, I can't help but hold my hands out in front of my face. "Oh— okay! Nice to meet you, too."
Somebody abruptly suggests, "Why don't you guys give her some space?" Knowing the voice too well to forget it, I grew excited. Sugawara had arrived, finally. I was looking forward to seeing him more than anybody else. "Hey, Y/n. Glad to have you," He says, secretly winking at me.
"Thank you."
-
"Let's talk positions for the practice game," Daichi commands, lifting a dry erase board to face everybody."Here's the plan I came up with."
The club was sat in a big circle on the court facing Daichi and Takeda. I accompanied them as well, pretending I knew what they were talking about.
"I'd like to have you two working as a pair." Daichi points to Kageyama and Hinata, who gave each other low growls. "And since Tsukishima is our tallest player, I think that would give us a benefit against Seijoh."
'Seijoh? Isn't that short for Aoba Johsai?' I think, raising my hand slightly. "Uh, so you guys are playing against Seijoh?"
Daichi nods. "Yes, Aoba Johsai. We have a practice game with them this week. They're a very strong team, so we need to be in our top game. Are you gonna be joining us..or?"
"Yeah, I will. I'm asking because I know a bit about the players on that team. If you'd like, I can give you guys some advice on their style."
"Wait! Why is Hinata in the one position that needs a tall guy?" Tanaka blurts, as he points towards Shoyos name that was written on the board. It stood in front of the net doodle, telling us he'd be playing as a blocker.
Hinata takes notice of this and grows annoyed. "You're saying Tsukishima and I are playing middle blockers?!" It seemed that he wasn't very fond of Tsuki.
"Timeout!" Takeda strikes the air with his hands, before reaching to his side to unfold a small handy book. "I think I need an overview of the positions.. let's start with the setter. That's the basic control tower— the ones who set people up for attacks. Then there are the wing spikers. They're the rounder that sort of.. maintains the balance between offense and defense. And middle blockers block the other teams' attacks and score points using quick attacks. They also act as a decoy to lead away from the opponent blockers! Is that right?" He asks, looking up to the team captain for reassurance.
He nods his head, putting his palms together. "There is a position that specializes in defense, but we don't need to worry about that right now. So far, that's the positions!"
"Well, Hinata should be the 'number one decoy'!" Kageyama quickly rises, looking towards the redhead. I look towards Kiyoko who is just as confused as me about what he blabbered. "Why don't we use you as a distraction to get points? We'll be using quick attacks, that way the other spikers can do some damage! You'll take down guys like Tsukishima and take them right down the garden path like the idiots they are." Kageyama spoke in a determined manner.
Yamaguchi defended the boy, saying, "Hey! Don't imply Tsuki's an idiot!" But is quickly shut down by Tsukishima, being told to shut up. "Oh.. sorry."
'These first years sure are interesting..and rude, if I'm being honest. Why is it that they're so bossy and demanding?' I say to myself, bringing my knees up and resting my head on them. Although we hadn't done anything physical, I was beginning to grow tired.
"Hinata, when we play, you better be on your best level! If you mess up even one bit, all of our attacks are gonna start to fall apart, got it?" Kageyama strikes Hinata, making him feel frightened and cornered.
"Come on, Kageyama. Hinata is already under a lot of pressure, why say things that make him feel bad?" I whisper to him, as he began to feel concerned for Shoyo.
Tanaka pats Hinatas back, attempting to calm him. "Yeah but- blocking is the most important thing here! No matter how high he can jump, he's still a shorty pants."
What he had told everybody started a riot between the players. Each of them argued about whether or not Hinata should be one of the middle blockers. As for the third years, we rubbed our foreheads in frustration. But it wasn't as if I could expect anything different from these boys.
"Don't you worry, Hinata. As long as you do your best, the team will be proud-"
"R-right! I promise I won't mess up!" Hinata perks up while his face turned a crimson color out of stress. "I'll block as much as you want me to and be the best decoy! I'll serve, I'll do attacks, I'll block! I'll do whatever you say, captain!"
Because of how anxious he grew, he dropped onto the gym floor not long after his rant, breathing heavily. Hinata had made it clear to me that volleyball was a very serious thing for him, and other players' opinions on him meant almost everything. But thank goodness, our third years reassured him that he would be just fine for the practice game.
From how much I'd seen, I thought that the club wasn't too much of an issue to attend to. That was if I wasn't helping first years get back up onto their feet after short-circuiting. Kiyoko had even told me that I did a great job on my first day at practice. So I was sure that I'd be a benefit to the team.
Now, my biggest concern was seeing Oikawa.

Liv: I was just looking back in my camera roll and found a picture of us in the dungeon :sweat smile emoji: :sweat smile emoji:
Quinn: oh God
Liv: We looked so rough LOL
Quinn: I'm sure we did
Liv: How are you?
Liv: Did I see somewhere your tour ended?
Liv: You going back to California?
Quinn: m'fine
Quinn: That it did.
Quinn: Nah. Headed back to Boston.
Liv: Oh! So I’ll get to see you then??
Liv: When will you be around?
Liv: It’s been ages
Quinn: Yup
Quinn: Got plans Monday, presumably I'll be required to make an appearance at Fran's on Tuesday, but I could probably do sometime on Tuesday?
Quinn: That it has.
Liv: That’s so far
Quinn: It's Tuesday or you wait even more.
Liv: Ugh the worst
Liv: why can’t you be around nowwwwwww
Quinn: Because I'm not
Liv: I’ll wait
Liv: Since I have to
Quinn: believe me, I'd prefer to be around
Liv: Are you close enough for me to drive to you?
Liv: The pictures were so hot!
Quinn: I'm busy.
Liv: Oh, okay. No worries
Quinn: Post tour shit is a bitch
Liv: I mean, I imagine so. So much physical and emotional work. When I was on tour it felt like we never went to bed.
Quinn: I love being on tour. I hate coming off it.
Liv: Sounds like you ate too many edibles
Quinn: I wish.
Liv: Do you want some?
Quinn: God no. Fran would kill me.
Liv: So? Edibles are basically good for you
Liv: Plus they just help you sleep
Quinn: You convince miss high and mighty of that.
Liv: Maybe she just cares about you?
Liv: Well, if you decide you want some lemme know.
Quinn: She does, but she's also anti-everything fun
Liv: Fun is relative. Different for everyone.
Liv: sounds like you need fun, grumpy
Quinn: But weed is nearly always fun, and Frannie turns up her nose at it.
Quinn: I need a fucking break is what I need.
Liv: plus how do you know Frannie hasn’t made edibles before? She definitely has.
Liv: You’re literally on break
Quinn: Is my withdrawal brain reading shit wrong or did you just say that Frannie, Francine Grace Fabray MADE edibles?!
Liv: She did! On Sunday.
Quinn: The fuck?
Liv: It’s why I have them
Quinn: You made edibles with my sister?
Quinn: god this feels like a hallucination
Liv: I did!
Liv: They’re so yummy too
Quinn: What fucking world did I faze into that my sister is making edibles?
Liv: Why does it matter?
Liv: It just means she doesn’t care if you let me bring you some
Quinn: She'll still fuckin kill me
Liv: I just wanna chill with you Fabray
Quinn: I'm probably the last fucker in Boston you really wanna hang out with.
Liv: Hey now, don’t put words in my mouth :frowning emoji:
Quinn: I'm not good company right now.
Liv: That’s okay. I can just drop cookies off?
Quinn: No. It'd be a bad idea. I don't know what adding that onto everything else would do. Would like to at least give Fran the chance to kill me.
Liv: Okay. I’ll bring some Tuesday then. How’s that?
Quinn: Sounds great. And tell whichever of the women in that house you're talking to that I know what I'm doing.
Liv: You sure about that?
Quinn: Yeah, this isn't my first rodeo.
Liv: Well they love you
Quinn: Doesn't always feel like like it. Fucking snitch.
Liv: Rather be a snitch then lose you
Quinn: I was talking about Bea. Though you're not much better.
Liv: What did she do?
Quinn: Tattled to Frannie
Liv: she is the baby
Quinn: And I told her I was fine.
Liv: Yeah, I mean drugs usually don’t equate to fine. But it’s fine.
Liv: What do you have going on Monday?
Quinn: I'm detoxing. It's fine.
Quinn: high school reunion of the horny variety, apparently
Liv: But why stop if you wanna do them so bad?
Liv: Ooooooh
Liv: Gross
Quinn: Frannie. And I only trust one guy to supply me, though after this my trust is wavering.
Quinn: Pretty little brat that I'm inclined to believe is as good with her mouth as she says.
Liv: So you stopped enough to trick her?
Liv: Hopefully she’s not lying
Quinn: If she thought I wasn't using she didn't worry.
Quinn: Pretty little song bird who also doesn't know how to shut up. So if that woman doesn't know how to put that mouth of hers to good use, well, she knows what I'll do to her.
Liv: Looks like you’re spots been blown up unfortunately
Liv: What now?
Liv: Hopefully she shuts up enough to use her mouth
Quinn: Fuck if I know.
Quinn: She likes being put in her place, I'm sure I can that mouth to do what I want it to.
Liv: Cool
Liv: sounds funnnn
Quinn: I should ask if she's gotten rid of her reindeer sweater...
Liv: LOL u joking?
Quinn: This girl wore short fucking skirts, knee high socks, and sweaters so fucking often. And no matter how much teasing and bullying occurred she wouldn't change. Even her so-called friends tried to get her to toss the fucking reindeer sweater and she just wouldn't.
Liv: Well, stubborn can be fun. I think.
Liv: My brother always wears funny bow ties. People don’t appreciate them but he does it anyways.
Quinn: Bowties I can appreciate. Unflattering sweaters with reindeer I cannot
Liv: They were unflattering even with the knee socks?
Quinn: From ankle to waist she was perfect. Great legs, an amazing ass. And then BOOM reindeer
Liv: LOL you’ll have to let me know what she wears cause I’m big curious
Quinn: Hopefully not much. But yeah, I'll let you know
Liv: She shows up naked. Could you imagine :laughing cat emoji:
Quinn: If she wasn't meeting in public first I am not entirely sure I'd complain.
Liv: Why public if you know each other?
Quinn: Because it's been 11 years since high school and I'm not stupid enough to give someone I barely know my address?
Liv: Did she know your address back then? :winking emoji:
Quinn: No. My father would have had a conniption if I even entertained the idea of being acquainted with her.
Liv: Ohhhhhh
Liv: Romeo and Juliet vibes :laughing cat emoji: :laughing cat emoji: laughing cat emoji:
Quinn: I wanted nothing to do with her back then. Except when I could get her angry enough to storm off so I could watch her go.
Liv: So you kinda wanted something to do with her
Quinn: I wanted less to do with her than she wanted to do with me.
Liv: Omg was she in love with you
Quinn: She wanted me to fuck her in the locker room. Apparently on multiple occasions.
Liv: Jesus
Liv: that’s hot
Quinn: Spanking included
Liv: Well then
Quinn: Mmhmm
Liv: Well hopefully she’s just horny for you and not obsessed with you
Quinn: I've had worse people obsessed with me
Liv: Fair enough.
Liv: So what are you going to make her do?
Quinn: Haven't decided yet.
Liv: No fair
Quinn: I mean, she's given me so many ideas. Definitely like the idea of spanking her, getting her on her knees, not letting her up until I'm satisfied."
Liv: you could kill her between your legs and she probably wouldn’t care
Quinn: Probably
Liv: That’s a sacrifice I’d probably take too
Quinn: Is that so?
Liv: For sure
Quinn: Interesting.
Quinn: So, you and Frannie?
Liv: We’re friends because of Arin! Love that woman
Quinn: Okay, but like how are you two JUST NOW connecting? I mean, you and the queen of darkness have known each other for a while, right?
Liv: It just sort of happened, idk
Liv: the same way you spent your summers with my Blaine
Quinn: Excuse me what?
Liv: Blaine Anderson | Liv Anderson
Quinn: Bruh.
Liv: Tell me about it. I could have gotten into so many pants way sooner.
Quinn: So like, why weren't you?
Liv: You know, dads suck!
Quinn: Mood
Liv: I punched him in the face and he shipped me off to boarding school :sunglasses emoji:
Quinn: Damn, I wish
Quinn: I just write songs about mine
Liv: Mine doesn’t exist to me anymore so no songs need to be written
Liv: At least they are good!!!
Quinn: I'm sure I don't exist to him but that doesn't make the trauma and shit nonexistent
Liv: Neither does the drugs
Quinn: The drugs have very little to do with THAT bastard
Liv: Okay. My apologies.
Liv: They still don’t help trauma
Quinn: They stop the memories way more than you'd think
Liv: Doesn’t make it the way
Quinn: Yeah, well they work.
Liv: I know
Quinn: and that's the part that matters.
Quinn: so like how did you get her to make edibles?
Liv: I asked her
Quinn: What the ever loving fuck have I missed the last 9 months?
Liv: I don’t know LOL
Quinn: Neither do I.
Liv: The world just got smaller mostly.
Liv: and everyone is horny and kinky
Liv: Or both
Quinn: Both, definitely both.
Liv: Specially them Fabray girls
Quinn: Not all of us.
Liv: All of you dude
Quinn: Last a checked my not-so-closeted older sister is still in fact a sex free bitch. And as much as even I know kink isn't always sexual, Frannie might have an interested, but that definitely doesn't result in actually being willing.
Liv: An interest is enough for me to label you all kinky. That’s all.
Quinn: Okay then
Liv: And you are horny I’m sure
Quinn: nah, withdrawal sucks that shit right outta ya. Hoping I don't have to cancel Monday, honestly
Liv: omg that’d break her heart probably
Quinn: Probably
Liv: such power
Quinn: Mmhmm
Liv: if you cancel on her let’s hang out
Quinn: If I cancel on her it will be because I still feel like death
Liv: and I can’t take care of you?
Quinn: Why would you want to?
Liv: Friends take care of friends
Liv: I messaged you because I was hoping you’d let me come over to help you. It just also meant I could let Frannie know you are okay
Quinn: I'm fine, Liv, really. Just some extra shit I wasn't expecting to deal with.
Liv: You guys are so fucking frustrating holy shit
Liv: Okay. I get it. But I want to help. And I’m here for you. That’s all. You can believe it and I hope you would but I won’t force you.
Quinn: I know I am. Bea, if you know her is too. But what's frustrating about Frannie? Like, from a you perspective?
Quinn: I just don't need the help right now, okay? Go be a brat to someone who can handle it
Liv: She doesn’t take a single compliment.
Liv: I’m not being a brat I’m trying to be a friend
Quinn: Is there a reason you're trying that hard to compliment my sister?
Quinn: You're being a bratty friend.
Liv: It’s easy to?
Quinn: ... You like her don't you
Liv: We’re friends. Obviously I like her.
Quinn: Bitch, you know what I mean
Liv: I haven’t thought about it like that tbh
Liv: Maybe I do
Liv: That’s fun
Quinn: Does she know? Does she like you back? I need details bitch
Liv: You think she knows when I didn’t know?
Quinn: I don't know. Maybe? Like does she like you?
Liv: I mean she likes hanging out with me and made edibles with me
Quinn: Mmhm. And?
Liv: What do you mean and? We just chill a lot
Liv: And laugh a lot lol
Quinn: Okay. That's something. But also you're terrible at this. I'm gonna have to ask Arin. Arin knows these things.
Liv: Arin knows everything
Liv: I also don’t know anything right now outside the fact that I’m seconds from exploding
Quinn: Except how to fall in love with someone who WON'T cheat on her.
Quinn: Getting relief, I hope?
Liv: low blow
Liv: Maybe she can date Bea. Bea doesn’t know anyone but us.
Liv: Yes sooooon
Quinn: But the truth.
Quinn: Don't know how I feel about that. Though, pretty sure she had a crush on Arin when we were younger.
Quinn: oooh
Liv: I mean who didn’t have a crush on Arin? LOL
Liv: oooooh
Quinn: Frannie. And presumably Blaine.
Quinn: Who???
Liv: Wonder if Sugar did. She’s worse than anyone I know when it comes to realizing feelings LOL
Liv: Arin
Quinn: Sugar had it BAD. Like, literally got her ass beat multiple times with a book cos she refused to leave Arin alone. Now she just pretends to hate her for it.
Quinn: enjoy the queen of darkness, you both probbaly need it though like... does Frannie know?
Liv: LOLOLOLOLOLOl
Liv: Yeah, I think she knows. I mean I don’t know how she wouldn’t know.
Quinn: uh huh. and do you know if she reacted to this?
Liv: What do you mean?
Liv: I don’t know.
Liv: she said she didn’t need Arin
Quinn: I mean how did she react. Was it normal. Was it short. Did it take longer or faster than it should have.
Liv: She gets short a lot. I didn’t really note it as different
Liv: This is so much
Quinn: Well, when you have a chance, compare what everytime she's gotten short with you has in common and met me know
Liv: Quinn, I really like sex and she doesn’t
Liv: I don’t think we could ever work
Liv: it’s not that serious
Quinn: Look, I can't say why she's repulsed lord knows that's her story to tell, but she's on that site for a reason. A reason that I pray means what I think it does. Don't count her out because of her history.
Liv: I’m not counting her out. I just think you’ve got it all wrong.
Quinn: I don't think I do. But Arin will know more and I will get my answer. Just think over why she gets short with you.
Liv: Stubborn :sweat emoji:
Quinn: Fabray genetics. Running away, being attractive, a desire to be right.
Liv: can you like wait to bug arin until I’m done with her?
Quinn: You mean til she's done with you, but yeah, I'm gonna go pass out
Liv: goodnight Quinn :winking emoji:
Quinn: enjoy the queen of darkness

prompt if you're able: Sledge finds a Japanese child no older than five in the jungle and argues with Snafu on whether they should keep the child
AN: inspired by this picture.
This isn’t a situation he thought he’d ever find himself in.
It’s not as if Eugene dislikes children. Actually, he has no real opinion on them whatsoever — save for mild annoyance when they scream, but that’s natural. From what limited experience he has with kids, they tend to be sticky, loud, and helpless. He is not a fan of any of these qualities, so he tends to avoid children as much as possible.
It’s a tactic that’s worked for him so far. It doesn’t mean he hates kids. He doesn’t.
He just doesn’t know what to do with them.
“What do we do?” he asks; and, when he gets no reply, says it louder. “What do we do, Snaf?”
“Why're you asking me?” His companion demands, sounding just as harassed as Eugene feels. “I look like I know?”
“Well, I’ve got no clue! So if you’re just as lost as I am...” Eugene trails off, swallowing hard. He’s doing his best not to look at it.
Not it, his traitorous brain reminds him. Her.
The child in front of them doesn’t make much of an impression. Chances are, neither of them would have noticed her at all, if she hadn’t wandered out of the trees and scares them both half to death. She seemed frightened at first; until they both lowered their guns at the realization of just what they were looking at. Then they were just left staring, like the girl is a creature from another planet. Of all the things they expected to find on a scouting mission, a kid isn’t one of them.
Now, she seems rather disillusioned with them. She sits in a pile of leaves, gathering them up in her tiny fists, and glancing up at them before letting them flutter in the air around her. If Sledge didn’t know better, he’d say she’s showing off — trying to put on a show for the silly American soldiers who’ve never seen a child before, apparently.
He feels more hysterical than she looks. That makes him feel sort of pathetic.
“Do we keep her?” he demands, voice jumping in pitch. He must sound ridiculous, but he’s at a genuine loss. They didn’t teach this in basic.
Snafu turns his head slowly to look at him. “I ain’t ready to be a father, Sledgehammer.”
The worst part is, it takes Sledge a minute to realize he’s joking. Snafu’s eyes are so wide and earnest that the moment it clicks he feels like he’s been smacked. He returns the favor by smacking Snafu right back. His palm connects with his ribs, but Snafu doesn’t even flinch. “You think this is funny? Huh? What're we supposed to do with her?”
“I dunno.” Snafu takes a step out of Sledge’s range and squints at the child. “Scrawny lil’ bit, ain’t she?”
It’s true; the little girl has got less meat on her bones than Snafu himself. Her arms are like twigs, marred with scratches and bug bites. Her cheeks are hollow, and even the worn dress she’s wearing looks two sizes too big for her. Sledge wonders when the last time she ate was, and feels a flash of instinctual concern. She can’t be more than two or three. This little kid out here in the jungle, all alone...
The war has not been kind to Okinawa’s civilians. In the constant chaos of battle, it’s hard to make out who’s the enemy and who isn’t. Sledge doesn’t think he’s killed a civilian himself, but if he did he probably wouldn’t know it. He’s seen houses be fired on indiscriminately, come across the dead bodies of women and children. The memory of the woman with her baby in her arms, sobbing over the dynamite strapped to her chest, still makes him dizzy with horror. He knows how innocent people get caught up in the atrocities of war. It happens too often. Just looking at this wide eyed child makes his stomach turn.
“We can’t just leave her,” he emphasizes, stating the obvious. “We’ve got to do something.”
“You got an idea what that somethin’ is?”
Sledge thinks for a moment, though he really doesn’t have to. “No.”
Snafu considers the child, like he’s examining apples at the supermarket. After a few seconds he drops down in a crouch, eyes narrowed at the child. Sledge wonders if he’s going to do that creepy intimidation shtick again, before he holds out one arm.
“See if she’ll come to us,” he declares, then begins to beckon the girl. “Come here. Come here, petit chou, come closer. We ain’t gon’ hurt ya. Come here, you.”
The child blinks at him with black, unimpressed eyes. She doesn’t move.
“For God’s sake,” Sledge says.
“Hush,” Snafu retorts, shuffling a step closer to her. “C’mon, baby. How old’re you, anyway?”
“She doesn’t know what you’re saying.”
“Come on now.” Snafu reaches the girl. Since he’s apparently elected to ignore his companion, Sledge sees no reason to warn him about the look in the child’s eye as he reaches out. He doubts that Snafu, the apparent baby expert, hasn’t noticed himself.
Snafu’s hand settles on her arm, and she screams.
Not just screaming. Full on wailing. It’s like the screech of a shell tearing through the night, an air raid siren going off, fire trucks racing to the scene of a disaster. Snafu stumbles back like he’s been burned, while the girl...
Well, the girl doesn’t go anywhere. She just curls into a ball and keeps screaming.
“Dammit!” Snafu hisses. “Shit! Damn! How do we shut her up, Sledge?”
“You’re asking me?”
“Sledge!”
“Fine!”
He really has no idea, so Sledge does the first thing he can think of: he empties his pockets. He’s got a tiny pencil in there, and a few bent playing cards, among other things. His most interesting possession is his worn Bible — the same one he’s studiously filled with notes since they landed. He promptly throws his Bible at the child.
(His ancient grandmother used to employ a similar method to get Sledge and his brother to shut up when they were children. This doesn’t occur to him until later.)Whether out of shock, confusion, or just plain outrage, the girl cuts herself off. Her gaze swerves from the book lying at her side, to Eugene, then back again. Slowly, she picks up the pocket Bible. Snafu, still on his haunches, blinks at her.“I can’t believe you just did that,” he says. Eugene stays quiet. “What’s wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me? Huh? She’s stopped crying, hasn’t she?”
The child promptly flings the book right back. It bounces off of Sledge’s helmet, nearly knocking him over.
“You know, I think I like her,” Snafu says.
They wind up taking the little girl back, because there’s nothing else for them to do.
“Next town we find, we leave her there,” Burgie tells them. “We can’t have a kid hanging around and giving away our position. ‘Til then, just try to keep her quiet, alright?”
“Got it,” Sledge replies. He’s carefully not looking over his shoulder, where he knows Snafu will be bouncing the little girl in his arms. She seems to have taken a gradual liking to Snafu. He’s the only one she’ll let pick her up, and he takes advantage of this by bouncing her on his hip at every opportunity, holding her and muttering little ditties in a mixture of English and French. When Sledge pointed out that she couldn’t understand a word of it, he just smirked.
She don’t gotta understand. She’s a kid. They like songs.” When he looked at the little girl again, there was a shade of humanity in his eyes — one Sledge had never seen before. (It only occurred to him later that perhaps he was not seeing Snafu at all, but the Merriell Shelton that existed before the war. The one who would bounce hypothetical little sisters on his knee and sing them songs; who’d play peek-a-boo; who maybe dreamed of a family of his own one day. No wonder he seemed so unfamiliar. Sledge does not know that Shelton at all.)
That night, when Snafu curls up in their foxhole, the little girl is with him. He’s made her a nest out of some old t-shirts and blankets. She curls up in it like a small dog, drawing herself into a ball and snuggling down. Even Sledge has to admit that it’s kind of cute.
He and Snafu both watch over her for a few minutes, neither sure what to say. It seems wrong, somehow, to pretend this is a normal night. This is not normal. This little girl’s life is changed forever, torn up by a war she’s too young to even understand. She is innocent of all the bloodshed; yet here she is, rescued from the woods, washed and fed, by the people her father would call enemies.
“I ain’t gonna give her a name,” Snafu says after a while. “She has one already. Ain’t fair.”
“She’ll be alright,” Sledge says, and hopes it’s true. He has to believe that God will provide for this child — the way he has not seen fit to do for anyone else on this cursed island.
Maybe, maybe. Maybe she will live a good life. A life of peace.
“Yeah,” Snafu mutters. “She will be.”
When he looks up, Sledge sees the echoes of Merriell Shelton in Snafu’s eyes, and he cannot help but wonder if the two are not one and the same.
#idk if theyd be the best or worst parents#but i love the hc of snafu having little sisters at home and having a knack for dealing with kids#my writing#sledgefu#Anonymous

The Ghost Of You
11 - Volleyball Practice
This chapters songs:
Beach Bummer; No Vacation
Goodie Bag; Still Woozy
Sports; Beach Bunny
