Happy 10th birthday to my second oldest OC, Lydia. I have an unfinished WIP thats like 8 years old, and then I never actually used her for anything ever again.
Anyway to celebrate Deadpool & Wolverine, I've finally revived her for her intended purpose; bad X-Men OC fanfic <3

me: I should see if I have anymore ideas for a bridgewater fic before the new season starts bc that trailer is getting me excited
also me: what if we wrote out an entire x-men au (bc we're still on that apparently) that's super self indulgent and you'll never get around to finishing???

X-Men 97 Thoughts
My personal opinions
Okay. So I grew up with X-men The Animated Series. It was one of my fave shows. It always came on late at night on Toon Disney (at times i shouldnt have been awake LMAO) so it has a special place in my heart. I was very surprised that of all things they decided to "continue" it. So, when I heard about it, I did a full rewatch (even that ungodly last season where quality took a nosedive OOF) Anywhoo! Started and finished 97. Those who know me best know at heart I am a big OG fan of my fandoms and am trepidacious of reboots/even continuation reboots, bc lets be honest most of them are all about stomping on the source material, SO I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Xmen 97.
You could really see how much they tried to capture the feel of the old show and the characters. The voice replacements were surprisingly well done. (i mean, Wolverine is a little off, but i'll give the guy a break its been like...28 yrs XD ) The animation looks amazing. Even if i'm taking some points off for the hair hfgjhdf haha
Now the storyline.... The elephant in the room. We all know the one. I have been a Romy fan since I was a kid and yes, when I was a young girl in Borders, I did come across the comic that showed the RoguexMagneto storyline. I hated it then and I hate it now. Its just...weird. (Again, my opinions. If you like it, power to you. Enjoy, but its not for me and this post isn't for you) but its even weirder in the show, and ill tell you why. As a Marvel comic reader, I'm well acquainted with the fact that everyone gets with everyone. That is just a trope of Marvel comics. All ships of imaginable and unimaginable proportions happen. BUT I think when doing this, they really should have thought it through a bit more in context of the show's universe alone . Bc I'll be real, if you're coming in from TAS, this kinda hits you out of nowhere. She had no form of connection with Magneto in the past show. Like....they had a makeshift funeral for him and she didn't even care. She was just worried about Gambit being stuck in space. So, their "secret" just seems so random and out of place. I do like that it was used for her to understand fully her feelings for Gambit, but man was it frustrating to see him just killed off when he was one of the best characters.(even if it was really well done and the animation, again, was amazing)
There's talk of him coming back as "Death" which is a storyline I'm not familiar with but I also heard talk of the original showrunner idealizing a timeline where Rogue and Magneto have kids....so... IDK It all just left me a bit frustrated and disheartened bc Romy was like one of my earliest ships before i knew ships were a thing. To see what happened to it made me sad, even if it could be part of a long game to get them to their HEA. (and thats always an if bc we don't know, even if the original guy isn't in charge anymore)
Other things that bugged me a little but not too much. Gonna bring up Morph. I love Morph. They were always a fave and they went through so much to finally be back on the team again. I really don't understand why they changed their character design tho? I read it was to make Morph look more like the character changeling from the comics but this is again something that doesnt make sense coming out of TAS bc Morph always had that other appearance throughout the entire show. I mean...it could have at least been explained... Also, as far as the feelings for Wolverine, i kinda found it funny XD bc in TAS, it always seemed like it was the other way around jkhfgjkdfh Wolverine was so attached to Morph and wouldn't let 'em go. That being said, I kinda wish they didn't go this route if its only meant to be unrequited and sad. AGAIN. I know. Marvel is all about unrequited drama jfhdkjfdh but hasn't Morph been through enough??? That being said, I love the ship even though I know its doomed. Wolverine is the worst person to be down bad for tho. Mans falls in love at the drop of a hat fhghdfjhsd
Other than these couple things, I really loved the show. Some people said "why are they shoving so much story into such a short amount of time" XD The storyteller in me would like to agree but i will be honest, there is nothing more like Xmen TAS than smooshed storylines jkdfhfkjds with random one-off eps in between. XD So, I was fine with it.
I liked the conclusion with Scott and Jean, as messy as it was. The family fun time was a pleasure to watch.
Xavier and Magneto. They really highlighted their messy, but still devoted relationship from the original series, so that was nice to see. I was glad to see him back in the red suit LMAO bc the one he was wearing all season was weird for me.
I loved Jubilee's journey, and it was cool that they brought Alyson Court back for that one episode.
I was very pleased overall that they didn't tone things down and since censors are different these days, they could show more stuff they couldn't in the 90s. So, I am looking forward to more seasons (and pleeeeease for the love of god give Romy back to me i am begging)

DEADPOOL 3:
deadpool and wolverine: 11/10 the plot is a lil weak as disney always is but the cameos...
spoilers under cut:
Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. I thought that the whole Fantastic Four cameo was fake news but NOOOOOOO HE'S THERE. (Though very unfortunately no Reed or Sue or Ben.
Cavillrine! Henry Cavill with that hair and that cigar and that beard and the motorcycle gets me. Every time.
Elektra, Gambit, Blade, X-23. Especially Gambit. Channing Tatum has a gift of whipping the roles he play into a full comedy XD
Lady-pool was played by Blake Lively. I wasn't so sure when she appeared but the credits said so.
a few others like Red Devil, Pyro are also in the movie. The toad guy and psylock too, but I'm not sure if they changed the casting
Happy Hogan! In the first few minutes when dp applied for the avengers. The photo of Tony and Peter, the half-made shield, a couple of iron man helmets, and that moving thingy in Ironman 2 where Tony finds it obnoxious on Pepper's desk were there in Happy's office.
It was a great surprise in general that they were able to be there and it felt like a revisit of my 2000s movie collection which I watched as a kid. The easter egg at the ending credits was a very touching moment, it was a video put together with blooper scenes from the X men films and fantastic four.
I think this movie is one of the best marvel movies after Endgame. The script writers really paid attention to the earlier movies and a lot of Xmen jokes were put into the lines. And I'm def planning to watch it again sometime next week<3

Mad Max fuels me lmao no pun intended but when I saw the trailer for wrecked I was immediately getting MM feels and then I saw Don in game and it was all over for me! Im so happy you're also a marvel fan?!! wow you're honestly so cool rat. -reaches hand to shake- my favourite avenger is hawkeye -gets shot- I unironically like him and I have no shame. but Im also very much an iron man enjoyer. for x-men I gotta go with my boys magneto, cyclops, gambit aaaaand also a huge fan of cable! others favs are definitely ultron [my all time fav], andrew forson [super obscure character but looove him], star-lord, agent venom, crossbones, winter soldier, mysterio! oh also, kait and i started watching xmen97 last night ;u; we're not far in, but so far so good.
something to note is that there has to be sOMEONE on the writing team who either 1: is a scott summers fan and thus knows™, or 2: is a new scott summers fan but is extremely insecure about it, because boy howdy those first two episodes really do scream at the audience
"Hey, HEY FUCKERS. YOU'RE WRONG. HE CAN DO ALL SORTS OF SHIT. LOOKIT HIM GO. HE'S COOL YOU GUYS, SHADDUP."
and like... sure. Throw my favourite superhero a bone, yeah. (he's not cool, that's like the entire point and we love him for it, but your heart is in the right place). I remember seeing comments online (when this all first came out) about certain action moments being like 'whaddafuk he can DO that?' like YES. YES HE CAN. When all you have is a hammer, you get really creative with that hammer.
Also any time we paused and cyclops just so happened to be on screen: kait: oh wow. that's a REALLY nice shot of him. me: yeah ^u^ kait: they made him pretty. me: yeah kait: they did it for you xD
Scott Summers enjoyers watching the first few episodes of this show must be thriving. The writing treats him as a character, all that summers-brand self-destructive-perfectionism is there and starts to be touched on. Ray gaddamn-most-soothing-calming-yet-also-dadvoice Chase voices him. His writing with Jean is wonderfully shmoopy. His idiosyncracies adaptations love to gloss over/forget which you only start to delve into if you look at comics are THERE and called out (his extreme reliance on jean & her powers/opinion/self as the only thing in his life he can trust and THAT can of worms. his trauma surrounding his father corsair and abandonment. his relationship to the xmen and unwillingness to see himself as anything apart from it.) Like, yeah none of it goes into depth, obviously, but it's all mentioned here and there, which is a hell of a lot more than the nothing i was expecting. It's actually impressive for a series that picks up from the 90s cartoon, considering how that one handled him.

reblog and put in the tags if this Halloween season you’re more “murder-y ghost boyfriend Evan Peters in AHS: Murder House” or “wacky prankster/kind-of zombie Evan Peters in the Halloween episode of Wandavision”

some of my opinions are:
sometimes it works better to adapt a comic storyline as it is
post endgame marvel is a completely different chapter and people should stop expecting it to feel like before, just like i believe everything will be different post sw
phase 4 did the best worldbuilding in the mcu
phases 1-3 are not as flawless as ppl claim
they need to start putting more emphasis on darker characters
they need to commit to the colorful suits (especially when the xmen come)
more projects need to be stylized like wandavision, loki, ms marvel, mom, mk etc.
special presentations should still be a thing maybe once a year
as much as i love and would prefer practical effects, i also dont mind cgi as long as the artists have been given the time needed to make it look good
i dont think the new avengers team, no matter how good, will ever hit the same like the original did
the limited series are much better than people think even if they had flaws in pacing
and so many more i cant think of right now XD
Interesting!
It won't be the same and I think people need to embrace change.
The limited series are awesome outside of pacing. The older shows were flawed as well.
CGI can't be completely replaced.

Bonjour! In the spirit of curiosity, I'm going around asking people things about their experiences in fandom. So, here's the first question: have you ever joined an exchange or fan-run event before (can be as a writer, beta reader, or artist)? If the answer is yes, what did you like about it? Can you share the piece you made for it? Cheers! 🪶 anon
oláa :DD oh mann this is so interesting!
the first event i joined was almost 10 years ago for xmen first class Christmas exchange (if i'm not mistaken). the art i did for it has long since been orphaned lol but i do look back on it fondly! xmfc was such a creative fandom and to this day i still keep up with some of it.
as for stuff that's still currently up, i have the following fics:
a mighty ocean or a gente kiss >> corpsekkuno spring fling
lucky I'm in love with my best friend >> dnf Halloween exchange that sadly got cancelled
heart of the sea >> dreblr valentines day exchange
to find fortune that's smiling on you >> fairytales from the smp vol. I
fine line >> dtblr summer exchange
I might also be part of some other exchanges going on right now xD I just love the feeling of community these kinds of events bring, especially with how it can help you meet and get to know other fandom peeps a little better. no matter the theme, it's always super fun to see what people come up with and it's always such a rush to see a new collab drop with amazing new work :))

I'm bored But I don't concentrate either. so:
Magical Girl Ask Game!
✨ - Favorite magical girl series? Sailor Moon, Winx
💫 - Least favorite magical girl series? Utena but because the first time I saw it I she was very small. Like, she knew there was deep meaning she wasn't able to grasp it, hated it.
💖 - Favorite magical girl? Gasp! HOW-YOU-DARE! It would be enough to choose one per show, please, what questions!
💔 - Least favorite magical girl? Cure Heart, hands down
🌟 - Favorite magical girl transformation? Cure White and Cure Black I love the detail like metal not metal. And Chibiusa to Black Lady if that counts.
🌠 - Favorite magical girl attack? Mercury Aqua Rapshody (90's original)
🪄 - Favorite magical girl weapon/magical item? Sakura Card Captor Anime Sword, Andromeda Shun and Venus manga Chains.
🦄 - Favorite magical girl mascot? Kero and Spinel from CCS
🔮 - Favorite magical girl villain? uHM... Diamande from Sailor Moon 90's, Joker from Smile!PreCure, Eagle Vision in MKR (I have/had a thing with villains having something with the protags)
⭐ - Any magical girl OCs? YES!
🎀 - If you were a magical girl, what would your theme be (color, gimmick, element, etc)? Silver colors and a teal accent (and maybe purple). Power of healing and teleportation like Elixir and Blink from XMEN but to beyond dimensions. Weapon would be a chain in Andromeda and Venus kusarigama fashion style, aurora colored. My symbol would be two chain links forming the sign of infinity, aurora colored.
🐹 - If you were a mascot, what would you be? A cute and tiny and soft and I said cute? magical flying mouse with the ability to transform into a human
💐- If you could be part of one magical girl team, what would it be? The Senshi or the Winx
🍄 - If you could pick one character from non-magical girl media to turn into a magical girl, who would it be? The truth is that I either read magical girls, or I read superheroes or sentai or Fate/GO... right now I can't think of anyone that applies and needs. IDK someone from Supernatural XD?
🩰 - Any magical girl tropes you dislike? Blondes being the default (pink) leader. Be extroverted or become extroverted, otherwise, get nothing.
💕 - Any magical girl tropes you do like? Everyone can get friends. Friendship is magic.
🦹‍♀️ - Are you a fan of grimdark magical girls? If so, which ones? If you don't count PMMMadoka, Fate Illya and the latest version of Rayearth... and a lot of fan adaptations... I love the adaptations that fans make... the fact is that I can't comment either but I like the ones I've seen. Oh, but if we're talking about Dark Magical Girl within a franchise, Darkcury.
♡ - Are you a fan of magical girl parodies? If so, which ones? I haven't seen any so I can't comment!
💚 - What do you think of magical boys? Shazam! (deny me!!) Okay, it's one of the winx fandom things that I like the most. As long as they are not Tuxedo Kamen utilities (I know, that's the subversion of the princess in distress but I don't like it neither male or female!), they are cool.
💙 - If you were to write a magical girl story, what theme would it have? Magical Woman with acceptance issues. You were the friend of the magical girl on duty. You saw her save the world. You lost your friendship but you thought the world was worth it. She never knew that you knew, that you were never enough (for her to tell you, to help her or at least listen her). In any case, years have passed, many years (you are an ADULT with all the letters), everything is forgotten, it feels like a dream, an urban legend, maybe it was all your imagination. And everything comes back suddenly. AND NOW, they ask you for help. You're bitter, hurt, and have an adult life to deal with, with a steady job/family you've worked so hard to get, thank you.

At last I caved and am watching new!Xmen 97. Two eps in so far.
The animation is good, it really is... They leaned into the retro style but cleaned up and it looks great. But so far there's next to no atmosphere (except for Storm's bits lol). Even in the middle of the night everyone's lit up bright as day lol. Pet peeve of mine.
Also I really wish western animators would learn a little about dynamic storyboarding from anime. Especially since the faces can be so unemotional, it's important to let body language, lighting, and framing convey what they won't use faces for so they won't look "unmanly"
When the voice actors are talking about normal stuff, they sound awesome. When they're talking about X-men stuff, they sound like they stepped out of the 90s yesterday. Lol. Makes me batty. That one scene where Jean's like "I remember when all of existence was on the brink of destruction and there was Scott" and then segues into some nice female support group with Ororo is a good example.
The jokes are funny. Like they are actually funny you guys x'D Wolvie vs Scott has me in stitches. Beast of course has the best lines. Gambit's pretty good too.
Scott makes a really good show these first couple episodes. I'm enjoying him. He's a lot like X-men Evo Scott. Animated Scotts are always so chipper compared to comics Scott, but at least he's not all burnt out like WatXM Scott or all one note like movie Scott.
They let Jean fight while pregnant! I mean... she was just sitting there using her psychic powers... but still. She fought while pregnant! lol.
When she went into labor I thought it was a missed opportunity for some peak humor. Like they got a good start with Wolvie being her only option for getting her to the hospital, and then the chaos on the ride over was funny. But they ruined it by making half the team just quit fighting and go to the hospital. Of course it's important for Scott to be there, but... Honestly I think it would've been funnier if Jean had no one but Logan. Also Rogue saying "what if I touch the baby by accident" kinda baffled me because no one should be touching a newborn, let alone the mother, without gloves...
Morph upsets me xD In a nice way, I guess. Like they're clearly a stand in for Deadpool. Yes, comics Morph is also like that, but still... they're here to be this universe's Wolverine's Deadpool. And they haven't even had that many good lines yet! I'm sure there'll be more as the season goes on but. Then they even cheer up Logan with not only a six pack of beer but a good old bout of wrestling? CMON THAT'S LOGAN AND KURT'S THING. lol. I'm so offended. No not really. But kinda. Anyway. Morph is sweet even though they've stolen Crawler's role with the beer and the friendly fisticuffs and the insecurity etc etc.
For a less extremely personal and subjective opinion on Morph... I actually am slightly bugged that they're here only because their power is morphing. So the X-men have got Rogue, who can imitate anyone's power once she absorbs it, and Morph, who can just imitate anyones power by morphing. If they have limits in this show it's not clear as of yet. So that is too much power on the X-men if you ask me. Can they not just morph into Juggernaut or something? It is really challenging to balance all X-men powers and use them logically. I feel like you shoot yourself in the foot by tossing in too many of the overpowered types.
I LIKE MORPH OKAY I DO. DON'T COME FOR ME. I'M JUST A DEPRIVED X-FAN FROM YER MOM'S GENERATION OKAY
On a very positive note, I'm thrilled that it's only two episodes in and almost everyone on the cast has stuff to do! Scott and Jean obvs - Magneto and Xavier - Jubilee and (potentially) Roberto - Rogue and Gambit (to be fair Gambit's not really happened yet but the seeds are planted with his crush on Rogue and her involvement with Magneto) - and of course Storm. I'm kinda nervous right now because 97!Storm is one of the best Storms ever, and if she's depowered and gone from the team for long the show will really miss her... But that was a great story arc for her in the comics and I'm really hoping it pans out well in this season too.
notice I didn't mention Wolverine. Well Wolverine's always involved in stuff. I don't have to worry about him lol. I'm happy to let someone else be more relevant to the story for a while.
So the hits keep coming and they don't stop coming, which is great, because everyone has something to do, but is also nuts, because boy the show moves fast. Take a breather ffs. It's EPISODE TWO lmao.
Overall I guess it's what I would have expected from a sequel to the old TAS series, but also rather better than what I would have expected. So that's pretty great.

That sweet innocent anon had probably never witnessed the insane crime community on this website XD. I personally don't find it interesting for Sabretooth to be Wolverine's dad and like someone else said, xmen is all about daddy issues so more bro issues pretty please. On a funnier note, Sabretooth being Wolverine's father would mean Mystique did father and son
Elementals would be fantastic. So what kind of new mutant group would be cool and help world building for X-Men...
Reactors, like energy reactors. People who can generate and/or use energy, any and all types of energy. You can put Bishop and Gambit here.
Vampirics, life energy drainers.
Reality-benders are already a thing so maybe stretch the definition to include those who alter the perception people have of reality without relying on mind powers
Amphibians, those whose powers makes them able to live on both land and water.
Extra-S, short for extra sensory. You can put all the mutants here who only had their senses and the organs tied to them altered. A mutant with more eyes? Enhanced sight and layered vision (infra red, ultraviolet, ...). A mutant with an unusual skin pigmentation (purple, green, orange) ? Different touch receptors, higher sensitivity to changes in the environment and different vitamin production.
Just a few ideas thrown in there that wouldn't make a mutant feel less important because they don't even have a worthy power level or find any use to their less impossible mutation
Its suprising because the weirdo criminal fandom circles have infiltrated almost all of social media so it wouldn't be hard to see them but also on the news we hear of copycat killers and such so idk, I mean if being a killer was something that would turn people away from Supervillains then like wouldn't all the Supervillains in Marvel be unable to find partners? lmao. I think Reactors is a good name or like Generators.
Vampirics is a good term for Rogue and characters similar to her but then I feel like some people are gonna be like youcantuseamythologicaltermbecauseI'LLMISINTERPRETIT
Are there that many reality benders? honestly I think this is such a bad power for characters to have so if I ever have to make a character thats inspired by one I'm gonna be dropping that aspect of them so hard. Mostly because its such an unbalanced and broken power that its hard to have these characters on any team and write them without running into "why dont they just use their power to warp reality?"
Amphibians is good.
I feel like maybe Sixth Sensors? idk. Thats a tricky one to name.
