no that's exactly what i was thinking about it! like, personally i have three godmothers, back ups for the back ups, so say Jiraiya declined bc his lifestyle does not equate raising a child, Kakashi would be the back up and so he'd take it bc of a sense of duty and respect and longing for family. ideally he wouldn't be 16 and depressed, but like, 26-28 and depressed when they die
