i dont wanna go back to 2017 stephen galaxy discourse bc i spent TOOOOOO much time in my late teens arguing abt that show w mutuals but i rly just think its a shame that so much of the potential of steven universe kinda went down the drain bc some of the writers clearly preferred certain ships/dynamics rather than just telling a good story. theres so much to say abt su critically and this def isnt the biggest issue in the show (by farrr) but i just personally always felt like lapidot felt more self-indulgent as a romantic ship and like it hindered a lot of lapis + peridots character development. i think it works better for the characters platonically rather than a romantic ship but. alas.

i havent thought abt steven universe in awhile but tbh i remember how much i love amethyst/peridot as a romantic concept. i rly always thought it was infinitely more interesting than lapis/peridot as a romantic ship....idk even just that one ep they had dedicated to amedot felt like there was so much more potential and chemistry there for development but. alas.
