I normally don't buy this but I couldn't resist. Look how cute all this is!!

The only thing that sucks is that if I want to use the hello kitty background for my homepage, I have to pick a character without their art illustration which is really hard because they're gorgeous to look at.. (Ｔ▽Ｔ)

This cost me $8.79 (profile icons, background, and furniture). And I also bought the $14.99 double originium deal to get the rest of the sanrio outfits so in total of everything bring me to..

For me, it's 50/50.

The outfits are definitely worth it because the cool attack animations and illustrations. Especially Goldenglow. Her attacks are really pretty to look at! I tried to use Lee and U-Official outfits but their levels are low so I'm currently trying to level them up so they can survive longer on the battlefield for me to see their attacks. They kept dying whenever I try to play them.. (╯︵╰,)

The background and furniture are meh for me but I really, really love the profile icons as I enjoy switching up my looks every so often. I was expecting a bit more on the furniture and background though. Like some kind of mini animation but there was none to my disappointment.

For the price, it's okay if your into sanrio. I'm not a huge fan like I use to be but I grew up with hello kitty so it has a special place in my heart so I bought this out of nostalgia. 'Till this day, I still have the collectable hello kitty dolls from McDonalds from when I was a kid so seeing this be part of arknights brought so much warmth and joy that I couldn't wait to get them after this was announced. (⁄ ⁄^⁄ᗨ⁄^⁄ ⁄)

Hello!

I am a person who is writing his own Interactive Fiction game. I currently have about 50k words written for it and will probably be making a forum thread soon. But I really need some advice from you as your game is one of my favourite.

The thing I am struggling with is my plot seems a bit bland to me and I just don't know what to do about it. Like I at the start only decided my game is going to be very reactive to choices and I have loads of meaningful choices and lots of variables remembering lots of things. But when I read through what I have written so far it feels a bit meh. Like your game is soooo intriguing as a reade. So my question was how do I make the plot more intriguing?? Sorry for the long ass post

I'm probably not the best person to ask about this; I go through cycles of self-doubt at least a few times a month 😞

But I'll do my best to help!

First of all, 50k words for an initial demo is impressive! HM had around 28k words when I first uploaded a public demo (which was just the first version of the prologue), so you're doing very well!

I think it would help tremendously for you to sit down and figure out what themes you wish to put focus on. It doesn't mean that you can't tackle a few others as you write, but it's always good to set goals like this to maintain consistency and make their presence strong in the story. It doesn't have to be something "grand"; it just needs to be clear in your head.

It's cool to aim for your choices to be meaningful, but watch out for scope creep. Not that I can talk; I have way too many variables tracking the MC's actions/dialogue choices as well as routes that not many will ever know about. And they can be fun! Just remember that fun doesn't always remove the stress attached to those boosts of excitement. I'd say try to focus on choices/variables you're sure you can deal with, particularly those that can enhance the quality of your plot, and you can decide to add more once you're certain you can handle them.

I have no way of knowing you're not already doing this, but well-developed characters help the impact of the plot grow stronger. Their fears, motivations, what they need to see vs what they have currently. Humans are complex beings, and for me, it's always interesting to try and explore that complexity. I love exploring it.

Try to talk to a friend about what you have at the moment! It helps to have some who'd never mince their words and are willing to give honest feedback while being helpful at the same time. In a way, it can be encouraging to know you have someone to depend to, and I hope you can find them if you haven't met such a person yet.

It's a first draft!! This is something I also keep telling myself, though it doesn't necessarily help me clear out all doubts all the time. But you should at least be aware of it. This is the first time I'm creating an IF, but I did a lot of film screenplays before, and my first drafts always sucked. It's why rewrites are not a foreign concept to me, and why I know HM might go through a lot of changes before I settle on its final version. But I do think both readers and writers should be aware of the fact that first drafts aren't supposed to be perfect; and WIPs, no matter how long they are, shouldn't be expected to have no flaws at all.

I cannot stress this out more, but taking walks outside or even doing the most mundane of errands can help to clear your mind! Try to take some rest; it might even give you some perspectives you haven't thought of before :))

I think that's all I can give for now, and I hope you're having a great time writing so far! I do want to remind you that you'll have to find methods that personally work for you as well, whether you're a plotter, a pantser, or something in between. It's why I haven't been too specific with the things I said; it's best for you to try and see what actually works for you as a writer. Best of luck <3

SPOILERS FOR ACT 1 AND 2 OF NATLAN ARCHON QUEST

So i just finished the first two acts of Natlan and im planning on continuing it tommorow. I hope you dont mind me talking about my thoughts about the first two acts of Natlan’s archon quest.

Personally i think it’s great. Not the best like Sumeru and Fontaine did but still good nonetheless. I can see why you see the first two acts as meh but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For me, it did a great job at introducing and setting up the stage for the later acts. I like how the writers FINALLY remembered the traveler’s purification powers and how they can use other elements as well despite the different nation. Kachina was adorable and i love her. Same goes for Mualani, and if she ever get a rerun i might consider pulling her but eh, we’ll see. The OSTs were AMAZING though! When hoyoverse uploaded the live performance for some of their OSTs for Natlan, i was hooked and i love it. The music just has so much story and nostalgia that it just makes me feel.. inspired in a way.

And really.. that’s the kind of feel i get from it. Inspired, nostalgia, and passion. Natlan is all about stories and legends that has been passed down to generation to generation and i think that’s beautiful. The sacrifices that our ancestors made is something that should always be remembered and honored, these two acts did a great job at showing that. When Mavuika walked through her memories about the people of the past, it made me feel happy in a way? Like they’re contributing and being honored for Natlan, for their descendants, for the future. I really cant explain it but it was shown really beatifully. Im excited what act 3 and 4 will have but for now, i need sleep.

they have fucked up luck 👍 it fluctuates between extremely good and extremely bad when they least expect it

aha saw this and went "oh this is gonna be hilarious" and made them immortal. in my file abt them i describe it as "kenny mccormick style" lol as in when they die they just wake up fine the next day (but here ppl don't forget abt their death. bc it allows them to pull better pranks). they do retain scars from their deaths, but these fade away with time. they're a relatively new immortal, maybe like 100-200ish years old atp

they're a masked fool and thus are ofc silly and goofy. however also very sad. it's kind of unclear if they actually worship aha or if they're just Coping with their inescapable reality. as you do

story wise i'm. not sure where to put them. ik they live in penacony rn bc no pain 🙌 bc otherwise they literally always are in pain (retaining scars also means retaining the pain of what caused them!). they're genenrally a traveler tho :3 also since i literally originally made them for the purpose of self shipping they LOVE to annoy veritas. i think they found him there while he was on his mission and kinda latched onto him (also following the hc/theory that he's an emanator of elation against his will bc it's funny and sexy and cool. and chance is as well. so.) i do terribly want to make up a story abt these two, maybe getting into a Situation bc of a burst of chance's bad luck and having to make it out of there together and bonding in the process idk.

gameplay wise, they're a destruction unit, and are a mix of their Things aka luck and being unable to die (they CAN die but they might come back with 1 hp. with a limit of how often/how many times it can happen too ofc). their skill can do one of 6 effects i will not get into, 3 or 4 of them are solid (that 4th one depends on your playstyle and teammates ig), 1 or 2 are kinda meh (again. the second one depends. first one has a lower chance [ha] tho dw), and one is REALLY good but only has a 1% chance to trigger

originally i planned for them to be a physical character bc bleed 👍 but i started analyzing what each element means recently and came to the conclusion that they don't fit the bill so i'm considering fire, or possibly lightning bc eh idk i like hsr's lightning characters (and other elements don't fit either bc of their own meanings or just bc of vibes). fire does fit their aesthetic more tho :P open for your own takes if you have any btw 🫡

AND TY TY!! my girl has a strong aesthetic and this piece kind of went a liiiiittle against some of that (its a lot of hard angles vs i normally give her a lot of ovals and rounded edges) but for the setting its appropriate bc im trying to give her a bit more of a """"harsh"""" or """"severe"""" vibe (like as harsh and severe as she can possibly look which isnt very). i LOVE to use texture brushes they are such an easy way to get out of drawing details myself because i am SO lazy!!

OKAY THE DRAW IN QUESTION i kind of cheated on bc i literally just traced over one of my older draws i did for a very obscure au i made of who made me a princess (i am always doing such ridiculously niche shit i love to sit in my little sandbox and have no one else understand my barbie rps) BUT the process is the same as basically every draw i do like this. it is very simple so dont worry (or do, maybe)

i use 1-3 layers at a time and then immediately merge when i feel like im done and LIVE W MY MISTAKES if not!! anyway prepare to be massively underwhelmed heh

this is so funny i cant believe i literally traced my own drawing im a fuckin FRAUD im the laziest bitch i know. anyway. my sketches are way messier than this but it always starts out either scratch ass lines or color blocking w this bright ass magenta bc thats what feels right!!!!!!

HERES THE LAYERS I USED LOL i do all textures n shit as a clipping mask so actually i used 4 layers for this bc id set down one texture or pattern that was gonna overlap on a diff layer so i wouldnt have to work harder to erase and then BLINDLY MERGED to make things more difficult if actually i fucked up before that!!! work smarter not harder except when it is absolutely braindead to do otherwise is my motto

IF IM DOIN SMTH NICER like this then i usually make sure all my lines connect (this is also why i do a lot of angles and simple clear shapes when i draw) so i can set that layer as reference and USE THE FUCKING FILL TOOL BAYBEEEEE!!!!! this also makes it easier to fuck around with COLOR imho bc you can just rapidly swatch with zero efforts. i Love to take shortcuts. i Love to be lazy. i HIGHLY rec this, if i have colored smth that stays in the lines then its bc i connected the lineart and used the bucket fill underneath. if my lines dont connect sometimes ill make a temp line and erase after i filled. im dedicated. ALSO u can see here that my patterns layer is all overlapping and fucked up bc i didnt check and erase fully but i use p limited palettes in general so... IT DIDNT MATTER THIS TIME!!!!!!!!. 

anyway after all that i lock the lineart layer if i havent already and color some of the lines for some PIZAZZ. easy way to immediately fake effort i do love to do that

HERES AN ACTUALLY MESSY SKETCH:

 i do all of my fucking draws on the same canvas bc im a horrible little beast, so the only reason i didnt erase the sketch and use it for the colors layer was bc there were others on that layer already and i didnt wanna scoot them so i could cap the finished draw. i did NOT connect my lines for this one i colored like a toddler. who gives a shit we all die in the end anyway!!! 

YOU DIDNT ASK FOR THIS BUT LINELESS MY LOVE... i just color blocked for this one alas i do not have process caps, i will do that next time i draw i guess if anyone wants that!!? i typically only use a single layer for lineless- block out the shape, alpha lock, then color and carve from there. EASY PEASY!! ive shown it before but i spent all my formative draw years on v limited feature programs (mspaint, oekaki, TEGAKI MOST OF ALL) so i dont explore tools much and do what seems easiest and most intuitive to me... im sorry i dont have any sick tricks or real process i am but a feral little clown drawing in the DIRT. also here is the tegaki overlay i use whenever i am Blocked or fatigued w procreate layout. it makes me feel NOSTALGIC and INSPIRED so i do this instead of like, actually getting on tegs2

I lowkey forgot he was meant to enlist so when the news came out I went through so many emotions. Its why the latest comeback feels a bit bittersweet to me. Onto legends exo, fantastic comeback. I cannot stop listening to the album, its just bops full of bops to me. They broke so many records and I'm over here sipping my tea because fudge yes. It isn't a full member comeback, 2 of the members featured in the comeback are off playing call of duty and they still did THAT. While having lay properly in the comeback!? (Or at least some form, better than tempo era!) Kyungsoo my beloved, the man that can swoon you off your feet, his proper solo album. Omg I am just in love? The album feels like a Playlist that you hear while taking a walk or on a raodtrip? I love it, I just love everything about this with how much thought was given. Onto svt! That is perfectly fine to not vibe with a comeback! I will admit, I didn't fully vibe with this comeback and it shocked me because every comeback was a hit to me. Even fear, left and right or homerun where I know many fans were split on, I liked but RTL was a grower. For me, listening to it without watching the mv, helped it alot and it is a song I like. Is it their best? No I don't think so but it is alright to say "hey I didn't bop to this, not my cup of tea" (imo I blame the mv? The mv REALLY didn't do the song justice at all, I am sorry if I sound like a fake fan but this mv Just is bad in all aspects. Sure we have some pretty shots but like it just doesn't fit at all?) So if anything listening to the song or wishing the live performances does it better. Seeing the choreography amps the song up more, cannot go wrong with their dancing. As for the rest of the songs, I admit game boy is my top favorite? Idk if it is because I am a gaming nerd and found all the production of the song so creative but yeah. our shownu is at war *looks into the distance* *wipes away tear* *sighs* by now I got used to enlistment news (see what happens when you stan 2nd and 3rd gen groups) but STILL [[IT HURT]] when they uploaded the monchannel videos of his goodbye day like ????? what kind of twisted mind diuhdfuihdifuhs but the boys were all so cute and soft but they seemed so sad they didn't want to let go of their super leader :(( I hope he's learning lots and making new friends (and also we've got our international super spy yoo kihyun giving us small updates on him every now and then so everything's fine!). Yeah I totally get you it felt empty without him this comeback and at first it didn't really clicked with me but when the enlistment news came out i understood he had to take care of his health and thoroughly check on his eye sight in order to be 100% ready for the military so it made sense he had to be absent :( everything was so close (the comeback and enlistment) that I'm sure there was no other way for doing it I'm pretty sure he couldn't maybe postpone the enlistment day any further

onto exo! my ksoo my soft boi my romantic boi 🥺 his album is so him SO HIM i can't explain it bur it's just HIM you know it's the type of album you'd play on loop on a summer afternoon when you've taken your papers and paints outside in the garden to paint a bit with the warm soft breeze moving the trees lightly 🤧 and he signs in English and SPANISH (he did it for me) my multilingual king he's a native. Also I've been watching Honeymoon Tavern with Jongin these days and OMG i could d word for him really (if you haven's watched it go do it when you have time) he's SO SOFT and SO CUTE and he works as a waiter and a wedding planner and helps with the room preparations and is also a tour guide and he's just so cute so happy al the time the way he interacts with everyone is so 🥺🤧😭 onto more serious stuff now: yeah i was so worried about minseok catching covid omg but i'm glad he went through it with our any major complication and the rest of the boys are safe too! I guess the industry doesn't stop bc that would mean a huge loss of thousands and thousands of dollars/won/etc so as long as the gov doesn't prohibit going out or gathering like at the beginning of the pandemic, they'll keep on going with the idols' schedules otherwise the industry would just shut down having no way of earning money to sustain all the companies and idols.

as for seventeen! yeah i like the songs too! the mv sure ruined rtl and listening to it without watching it has really helped it grow on me more but still it feels kind of meh to me idk i really like anyone i think it's my favourite from the album.
