Enchanted Christmas as an AITA Post

My tenant (19F) has decided to organize a Christmas party on my property, even though I (20M) strictly forbid the celebration. My reasons would take a long time to get into, but let’s just say IT RUINED MY LIFE TEN YEARS AGO AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE. Today, I discovered she’d left the grounds to pick out a Christmas tree (breaking another part of our landlord-tenant agreement), and nearly drowned in the process. I rescued her, brought her back to my property, and locked her in a dungeon to rot for breaking her word. My organist friend (51M) says I made the right call, but now I see she left a gift in my room, so I’m starting to have my doubts. AITA?

TL;DR: let’s be friends y’all

This event was organized by @firawren for largely selfish reasons. For one thing, I wanted to have more BatB fic, art, and other goodies to eat up, and now I do!

But secondly, I wanted to foster more community amongst this fandom. I think this event has shown that there are actually a lot more people who are into Disney’s Beauty and the Beast than you might have thought (than I thought at least!), yet we’re not at all united as a fandom community. There are a few little pockets of friends, but I don’t know most of you. Most people only know a handful of others, if any. And I think that’s sad.

Would you join me in making an effort to be more connected to one another? To show ongoing interest in each other’s works, to lift each other up and motivate each other to keep creating, to just chat and laugh and share joy over our shared obsession with this beautiful story?

I know of three Discord communities for BatB fans that we can try using!

Beauty and the Beast Lovers is the most inclusive server, in my experience. However, there are several minors there, which some adults aren’t comfortable with, just as a heads up.

The Enchanted Rose is a smaller, closer-knit group, but also allows all folks to join, including minors.

The most creation-focused server is Frozen Hearts Worth Melting. It’s 18+ and specifically for BatB (and Frozen) fanfic writers and artists, with a very supportive, inclusive, fanwork-positive vibe. DM moderator @loonysama on Discord or Tumblr if you want to join us there.

Beyond Discord, let’s continue to connect and support each other here on Tumblr! I for one am always happy to chat about BatB and/or my work on my main account @firawren.

And if anyone has any other suggestions of how we can be more united and supportive in this fandom, add your thoughts to this post!
