ML Counsellor AU Introducation
Every journey begins with a single step, a single decision, a single person.
[[MORE]]
When the Stoneheart incident was rectified not even 3 hours after it happened, Mr. Damocles had an emergency staff meeting with all school staff to discuss what was the best course of action when dealing with the new magical terrorist. (The fact that that was exactly what the email title was when he sent it out to staff made him feel ridiculous, but that was exactly what the meeting was about.)
Some staff members, such as Mlle. Mendeleiev, suggested keeping the students busy and well disiplined. Make it so that cellphones and other distractions were not allowed out during class (to help discourage social media drama), and some additional course work to keep their minds busy. She made a point to state that it wouldn’t be to the point where they had no free time, yet busy minds were less likely to fall to negative feelings.
Well some agreed with the statement, it would be harder to do with certain classes such as art, drama and gym class, where they found emotions were to run the highest. The did however put down the choice to have additional optional courses, and be stricter with cellphones.
The gym teacher, Mr. D'Argencourt, suggested that maybe the students should take a mandatory self defence class. He understood that the students stood little chance against an akuma, but self defence had been proven to help with confidence, and perhaps a boost in confidence would allow the students to feel safer. He would offer his fencing club, however they were already over the amount of members they could take on unless they hired another fencing couch, which was unlikely to happen because of the fact that he was the ONLY teacher within the board who knew how to fence.
The teachers did agree that self defence would help, however making it mandatory would be difficult to do with the more over protective parents, and with the mayors daughter who would no doubt kick up a fuss, so decided instead to make it another optional course once they found a suitable teacher who would be willing to donate their time.
Mlle Bustier suggested a meditation period, as well as saying kind words to one another at the start of the day. Some teachers rolled their eyes at the comment, but Caline insisted that it had been proved to help improve ones mood, and bring inner peace.
She also suggested a new guidance Counsellor, as theirs had decided to retire just before the beginning of the school year. All the teachers agreed with this idea, and insisted that it should be someone who dealt with trauma victims or at the very least someone with a psychology degree.
And it just so happen that someone had called earlier in the day and asked if the student who had been Akumatized needed a psychiatrist to talk to....
~~~~~~~
The next morning, each homeroom took aside 10 minutes of their morning to give out handouts as well as discuss the new policies the school would have now in regarding akumas.
- in the event of an akuma, students are to evacuate to the designated safety spot. If a student can’t make it to the spot for whatever reason, they are to text their teacher their location and give updates.
- Once the akuma had been dealt with, provided it was still during the school day, they were to report back to class (unless they were the akuma victim, in which case they were given the rest of the day off)
- The next day before returning to class, the akuma victims was to see the new schools guidance Counsellor for a check in, to see if they were feeling 100% ready to return to class and if the reason behind the Akumatization had been dealt with. Once they got a note from the Counsellor. They were to return to class.
- Anything discussed while with the guidance Counsellor is strictly confidential, nothing that is said to the Counsellor will be repeated outside of their office. The only reason information would be released would be if the victim shows to be a danger to themselves or others, and even than it would be discussed with the principal and parents first.
This had caused a bit of confusion with the students, especially in Mlle Bustier’s class were a discussion was being had...
“I thought Mr. Pole retired?” Rose asked, looking up from the handout they had all been given. There was murmurs of confirmation, as the Mlle Bustier had told them on the first day they were looking for a new Counsellor, but it would take time.
Mylene looked towards Ivan’s empty seat, frowning slightly. He had told texted her this morning that he was seeing the new Counsellor, and might not be in homeroom until later.
Mlle Bustier only nodded “Yes, Mr. Pole retired to spend more time with his family, and honestly it’s a stroke of luck that we got of ahold of someone qualified for the position on such short notice.” Bustier said smiling “However don’t think that the only reason you can talk to Dr. Regal is only IF you become Akumatized. The role of the guidance Counsellor is to help students with any sort of trouble they had, whether it is emotional, psychological, or even if you just need someone to talk too.”
Chloe let out a scoff, carelessly tossing the paper handout on her desk, rolling her eyes “As if someone would want to WILLINGLY spend time talking to some old fart.” She stated. To her, hearing ‘someone as qualified’ generally meant they had years of experience, so whoever they hired was most likely going to be some little old man who was older than Mr. Pole, who didn’t actually care about the students and was only there for the pay check.
“Oh come now, I’m not that old.” Came a feminine voice from the door way. Everyone’s head looked towards the door in surprise, not having hear it open at all, to look at the owner of the voice, who was leaning against the door frame, looking at the class as Ivan walked in, handing a note to Mlle Bustier.
The woman was tall, perhaps a tad taller than Mlle Bustier, and had an hourglass figure. She had lightly tanned skin, with red orange hair that was done up in a messy bun, with a fringe that framed her face. She was wearing full rimmed glasses that were similar to Sabrina’s, behind which she had piercing hazel green eyes, however as her eyes scanned the room, as if by trick of the light or the glare of her sunglasses they seemed to shift to a soft amber colour.
She wore a white V neck shirt underneath a long, open front beige cardigan that went all the way down to her knees. Her jeans were a nice dark blue colour, the bottoms of which were tucked into brown leather ankle boots, which had no visible heel on them.
The woman walked into the classroom, sipping the large mug of tea she had in her hand as she across each student, only stopping when she was standing front and center in the room.
“Hello, my name is Carmine Regal, you may call me Dr. Regal or Mlle Regal, I have no preference. I’m your new guidance Counsellor.”
~~~~~~
After Carmine finished her rounds of introducing herself to every single classroom, she returned to her office, locking the door behind her.
The newly made Counsellor let out a long breath as she looked around the office, boxes still filled with books, papers, and odds and ends, making the office look more cramp and disorganized than any office should appear.
Carmine glanced down at her tea cup, noting the utter lack of tea in it, causing her to frown to displeasure. Walking to the desk, she picked up a water bottle, pouring it into the cup, and placing a tea bag inside. Carmine’s eyes flashed a soft ember colour as her hand waved over the cup, the water suddenly becoming steaming hot.
The woman smiled, taking a small sip of her tea as she sighed, looking around the room. Magic would make this job go by faster, but if it can be done by hand, she would do it by hand.
She looked over the room once more, deep in thought. If she was going to make this room suited for her students, as well as trying to figure out who Hawkmoth was, it would need to be as organized and pristine as it could be.
