when will horror films learn that it's ALWAYS scarier when u dont get a good look at the monster and/or the spooky shit isn't properly explained??
like a shadow in the corner of the room that looks kinda like a person is miles scarier than when u try and create some kind of supernatural creature in cgi or whatever lol...
but fsr the final act of most horror films i've seen are generally the least scary parts of the film, even when you can tell the director is trying to go out of their way to make it really terrifying...
#idk is this just me lol??#personal#like i think the only horror ive seen that does the reveal actually pretty well is the haunting of hell house...#like the revelation of what (and who) the bent neck lady is... plus just generally the jumpscares in that are terrifying and tragic...#but most other horror just kinda falls flat for me...#anyway i just watched hereditary and it was absolutely fantastic up until the last half an hour or so lol...#like i LOVE horror as a way to show generational trauma/ptsd/grief/etcetc#and most of the film does that so brilliantly#and then it just kinda.. falls of the deep end at the end and it was a lil disappointing lol...#& like comparing it to ari aster's other film i've seen (midsommer) it just feels a lil disjointed?#idkidk lol
