Macaque slipped back into the theatre after his little chat with the Monkey Kid.

Boy howdy, that kid had some explaining to do, to his companions. If only he could stick around and watch that mess unfold. But he had to retrieve his lamp.

Honestly, that was easier than he thought it would be.

Wich was concerning.

As Macaque walked over to the stage he paused for a moment, where was (y/n) is all this?

The Monkey King was off doing his own thing for a while, and he'd assumed his kid would be hanging around Mk and his friends, yet the amber-furred monkey wasn't with them when they had entered the theatre.

Did Mk literally forget one of his friends? damn, he was starting to become like the Hero...

despite everything that's happened between them since the whole 'I stole the Monkey Kings powers from Mk and broke his trust leaving him emotionally distressed' thing, he actually wanted to get to know his kid(and maybe convince them to join him)the week of stalking wasn't enough for him to say the least.

Disregarding the thought (though not entirely) he make is way back to the remains of the lap.

And with a little magic it was good an new!

As he admirered his handy work for s little longer and sound of clapping caught is attention. Wiping his head around he saw the wired guy in a pin strip suit form the play, if Macaque remembered correctly this was the guy that game my the *Skeleton Key.

"My my, that was such a magnificent performance!"

"Ha, ya well it's over, t-this was the last show actually"

Oh he did not like this for a single second. His fur was standing on there ends screaming for him to just leave.

Just as Macaque was about to use the shadows to escape, in a flash of icy blue light the guy was now behind him, and the next thing he know he was being picked up by the neck and for some reason couldn't, fucking move.

What the actual hell is happening???

"Lady Bone Demon would like a word with you~"

In the blink of an eye, the scenery changed form the damaged auditorium he'd rented out to and underground cave with mechanical parts and machines everywhere.

Just one wif of the musty roten air and he knew he was in the Spider Queens lair. But it looked different then it had been that last time he was there.

Then again it's been centuries since he was last there.

He was shortly let go by the insane suite wareing guy and rubbed his neck where it had been grabbed. And just like that the guy disappeared, leaving the Lady Bone Demon in his stead.

"Why greetings Macaque, its beet long since we last spoke"

" not long enough if you ask me"

The white haired lady let out a hum of acknowledgement as she circled the monkey.

"Soo any particular reason why you got one of your brain dead servents to get me?" Macaque questioned, pulling back a bit not wanting to be in her immediate range.

Up purely tactical.

"Ah, well it's come to my attention that you poses something of grate use to me" her icy gaze fixed on the lamp.

"Ya not happening" Macaque said flatly, he went though a lot to get his hands on this thing and he wasn't going to part with it so easily. Besides what ever the Lady Bone Demon was planning, would spell doom for the world as they know it.

Macaque my be a bad guy in some sense, maby even be considered an antihero-that was just more of an ass on a good day- but he wasn't one for wold domination.

In the past he just wanted to wreck heaven with his dear beloved friend befor his change of heart, not enslave mankind. They just wanted to prove there worth nothing more. But this bitch, na she was jack shit crazy. It took the combined forces of Demons and celestials alike to seal her away, himself being one of said demons.

"Ohh what a shame, looks like I'll be keeping this little one then"

In a puff of smoke (y/n) collapses on the foor to her, there fur slightly matted with blood and a visible gash on the left eye.

Similar to where his was-

It wasn't deep and wouldn't cause damage, but it still needed treatment.

Holy hell is this where (y/n) was all this time?

Macaques mind was going a mile a minute but he kept his poker face.

"And I sould care about some random kid because?"

"Oh~ Don't play dumb with me, Six Eared Macaque. You know exactly who this little one is" she started using her powers for lift the amber-furred monkey off the ground there one good (color) eye glosed over and hazy.

"After all this is your child"

"Hate to brake it to ya, but I don't have a kid"

"My sources say other wise"

Several screens descended for the walls and around them, all flicked to like to reveal footage of Macaque during his little stalking mission when he first planed to steal the Monkey Kings powers and found out about his long lost kid, and then some other footage of his watching them from the shadows.

Oh, oh no.

"I had my suspension on the Luner New Years, but your reaction solidify's my assumption"

Wha- shit his poker face slipped! Shiiiit

"So I'll ask again, the lamp or your child- they won't die persay, but I think the underground market would pay a hefty sum for one of such unique lineage"

His heart was beating faster than he thought possible, wait why would it be doing that! He shouldn't care! Should he?

Glancing between the lamp and (y/n)'s beaten form Macaque made a decision he might soon come to regret.

(Y/n) was having a good evening, well that was until the Spider Queens minions jumped them while on there way to the theater to meet up with the others(minus Sandy, what he had cats to take care of!)

When the first woke up it was in a dingy cell. And the next thing they knew the Spider Queen tried to get information about the Monkey Kings whereabouts.

"Ya right like the peach loving old man tells me anything! So if you could kindly let me on my marry way that would be fantastic"

You realy needed to know when to such your mouth or just give total bullshit information because Queeni had gotten pissed, and tried to beat the information out of you.

The Lady Bone Demon had to pry the spider off you. Saying you still had a use befor you blacking out.

When they woke for a second time everything was hazy, and there was muffled talking almost like they where under water.

Water was nice, you should learn to swim! It seems like fun! Maby you could get Mk or Mai to teach you.

After all the Monkey King was a shitty swimmer- wait no he was crap as under water fights, but wouldn't that require swimming as well-

Uh oh, was you being moved? Nooo das no gooood stop!

The third and final time (y/n) woke, they weren't in a cell, or had a hazy mindset. Areas not that hazy, but this time it was more so due to medicine than pain.

In fact they lay on a plush mattress, with equally soft pillows and nice heavy blankets tossed other them.

As (y/n) sat up they winced in pain slightly.

Looking down they take notice of the bandages, and a slitting head- and there are bandages on your eye as well fucking perfect.

"Good to see your up" a voice greated. Wiping their head to the side, there stood Macaques with a slight concerned look on his face.

Probably shouldn't be moving so fast as (y/n) winced in pain again.

As (y/n) tried to steady themselves again and think of a retort, and side of the bed diped and a hand was placed oh your forehead, whilst the other heaped your arm.

"What are you-" "checking to see if you're fever spiked " "I has a heaver?" "Fever, and yes it set is last night after a particularly nasty infection" "oh"

"Wait, why are you-"

"The Bone bitch had you, i-i couldn't just let her harm you any more than she already had"

"That's dumb, you're dumb"

Sigh

"Okay back to sleep with you"

"Where am I?" "One of my safe houses, now sleep"

Sleep but what if...

"I-its okay, it'll be okay I'll be here when you wake again"

(y/n) blinked at him.

"I promise" he said softly as he guided you back down to the pillow, he retucked you in and was about to leave when (y/n) caught his hand.

Well fuck

Uhhh, you know what he's had a long fucking day himself he needs some sleep too.

So discarding his scarf to the side, as well as some armor plating and his shoes, Macaque got into the bed himself and just used himself. As he made himself comfortable, back tuned away for his pup a single thought echoed in his head.

'Im a fucking dad now, geat'

Chapter Five ~ Left Behind

The group rushed out of the hideout carrying half of the guns they came with, Glenn and Addie trailing behind. Glenn looked around at their faces confused about where Rick was. 

"Hey, hey slow down," Glenn shouted over to Shane. 

Shane looked at the pair, "what?" 

"Where the hell is Rick?" Glenn pressed him. 

"Went back to camp," Shane shared, confused with the urgency of the question. 

"What? Why? We need him here," He stated looking over to the younger girl her face consumed with worry as well. 

"And why the hell is that?" He snapped sick of the questions. 

"It's Jacey!" Shane face turned to stone at that name. 

"How the hell do you know that name?!" The man yelled in his face. 

"She's alive," Glenn nervously told him. 

"What?" 

"Jacey, she's alive. She's in Addie's group." Shane looked at the boy shocked and stepped away, a little. 

"She's here in Atlanta. That girl that was with Addie, that was her," Glenn smiled at him happy to partake in this reunion and happy for his new friend to get his daughter back. 

"Who the hell is Jacey?" Daryl asked slinging his crossbow over his shoulder. 

"R-Rick's other kid," Shane muttered the realisation finally setting in. Daryl mumbled an 'oh' and distracted himself from the situation he didn't feel the need to be involved in, by shooting any nearby walkers  

"She can't be. She died, I saw her die," He insisted to which Addie shook her head. 

"She told me that she fell with a biter - it pushed her right?" Shane nodded, "She hit her head and the biter that was on her was about to kill her until you killed it. She tried to call out to you. I guess you didn't hear her. You left her behind that night but she's alive. I swear to you she is." The older man looked at Addie completely frozen. How could he have left her behind? He really thought she died. 

"Rick needs to see her, Shane," Glenn declared snapping Shane out of his daze. 

"Y-yeah he does." Shane ran his hand through his hair, subconsciously, "But how do you suppose we do that? I'm sure you understand how big Atlanta is and s-shes just a kid. She could be lost o-or..." He trailed off.

"I assure she is not just a kid officer. She's saved my life more times then you could imagine," Shane smiled softly to the girl, "and as for finding her, I know exactly where she'll be."

Jacey rounded the corner struggling against the rancid odour of the walkers that were closer then she liked. She still hadn't found Addie and minute by minute she was losing hope that she actually would. The girl sighed, hatching a new plan, which she thought would be best, to go to their meeting point and just hope that she shows up eventually.

Hours go by and Addie still hasn't shown up. Jacey sat down on the curb burying her head in her hands, whimpering softly. She couldn't believe that she had lost her, the person that means the most to her in the world. One of the only people she had left.

 Hope returned however when the illuminating lights of a torch got nearer to her. "Addie?" She susurrated looking into the glowing lights. Footsteps echoed into the area, putting her on edge, her hand flinching to her side, grasping her gun. "Who's there?" the girl shouted to whoever was zoning in on her.

"Jacey?" A masculine voice called out. Her head snapped into the direction it came from and a tall buff man emerged from the bright lights. 

"S-Shane," She spoke, her voice barely coming to a whisper. Shane looked at the girl he once thought to be dead and could feel a smile reach across his face. She's alive.

Shane came closer looking at her face closely as if he hadn't seen it for years when it had only come to a few months.

"I thought you were dead," He almost cried.

"Not dead, just left behind," Coldly she spoke the anger bubbled inside of her - he left me behind. The older man stepped forward causing her to take a step back.

"Jacey please..." He trailed off his voice cracking. 

"Please, what? Forgive you? Let you hug me like everything's okay? Like you didn't leave me in the middle of the woods with no weapon and nowhere to go?"

"I-I thought you were dead... I thought the walker got you," He attempted to justify still looking stunned by the girl in front of him.

"Well should've looked harder. I called out to you. I called out to mom a-and Carl and none of you stopped," Her voice trembled with every word as she failed miserably to stop the tears. 

"I didn't hear you, I'm sor-"

"Bullshit!" Jacey shouted to him, "If you really fucking cared you would've come back to me. You would've saved me but you didn't! You didn't because I think you wanted me out of the way - you all did."

"W-what? Jacey, no."

"Don't tell me I'm lying because I know it's true. I looked for you. I looked for you everywhere but I could never find you because you were never looking for me!" She snapped.

"I did, Jacey! Carl made me. He thought... he knew you were alive somehow, and he told me to go look for you. A-and I tried, believe me, I did but you were gone. You were dead," He almost begged.

Jacey stopped for a moment looking at the man in front of her, the man she had known since she was a child, someone she looked up to and scoffed, "Fuck you."

"Jacey please," He spoke sterner than before.

"What are you even doing here? How did you know I was here?" The younger girl spoke suspiciously her hand rushing to her gun once again, aiming it towards him.

"Addie... Addie told me okay? Put the gun down," Shane told the distressed girl.

"Addie," She whispered, "She's alive. Where is she? What did you do to her?" Jacey shouted getting closer and closer to the man.

"Nothing... I did nothing okay? Put it down you know me I wouldn't hurt her. So put your gun down." Jacey looked at the man she once knew and sighed but refused to lower her weapon.

"Jacey calm down I'm okay," Another voice called to her, "Put your gun down dumbass."

"Addie!" She screamed to her friend dropping her arm and engulfing her in a hug, "I thought... God, I thought you were dead."

"Shh, it's okay. I'm fine," She chuckled at the child who was clinging to her, "I'm okay you can let go now." 

Jacey sheepishly let go and looked over to Shane, "You're with him?"

"He saved me, Jacey," Addie informed her, "He's not the villain here. He really thought you had died." The girl looked at Addie and then at Shane, she wasn't ready to believe that just yet. To her, the pain of being left behind wasn't something she could just get over in a second. 

"Look Jacey I'm so sorry okay? I truly am. I understand if you can't believe or forgive me," He croaked, "But you've got to come with me okay?"

"Why?" She pondered. 

"It's your dad," Jacey felt her heart quicken as she waited for him to continue, "he's alive." The younger girl looked to him as if expecting him to say he was joking but he remained silent - it was true. 

"N-no he's not. You told me he died."

"I know I did, I'm sorry but he wasn't moving a-and-" He started but was interrupted, "Save it. Seems like it's a habit for you to do that, leaving people behind."

"And what about Mom and Carl, did they get left behind as well?" She whimpered.

"No, Jacey, God no. They're alive, back at camp - safe," He corrected looking at the girl with pained eyes, "And you're gonna see them again, you have to come back with us."

Jacey remained motionless - was she going to come back with them? The way Shane said it made her think that she didn't have a choice. 

"No," She sternly put, "No I'm not."

"Jacey-" Addie began. 

"No, I won't. I can't," Jacey snapped at her.

"Not even for your dad?" She shook her head slowly, "But you lost him and now he's back and you're going to throw that away."

"I have a family with you and Mitchell and everyone else. I don't need them. They left me," Addie looked to the girl and let a heavy breath out.

"I'd kill to have the chance you are getting right now," She admitted dejectedly, "How can you not go back to them?"

"Addie-"

"No don't! For months you cried over them - over losing your father - and I was there for you. You told me about the pain it brought you to even think about him. So what the hell happened to that? What changed between then and now?"

"I don't need them. I don't need any of them, not even my father," Addie glared at the girl knowing how much she wanted to just go with them, but her pride got in the way of that. She knew that Jacey didn't mean what she said no matter how much she attempted to convince herself she did.

"You'll regret it."

"I doubt that," She muttered, "I made my decision, Addie, respect that."

Jacey looked over to Shane and spoke sharply, "You too, Shane." 

He nodded in response and looked away sorrowfully, "What do I tell them?" She glared at the man not wanting to answer the question, "Nothing." 

"Nothing?" 

She nodded, "As far as they know, I'm still dead." 

"Jacey as much as I respect your decision not to go back. T-this... this is cruel. Rick... he's, I don't know, he's broken. I had to tell him to leave today because he couldn't keep his emotions in check," He told her, "They deserve to know. Carl deserves to know that his sister is out there, so does your parents." 

"It's easier if they think I'm dead, Shane," he gazed at her, shock evident. 

"How could you think that, Jacey?" 

"Because it's true." 

"No, it's not," Someone said from behind her. 

She spun around quickly coming face to face with the man that tried to save her earlier, "I know its none of my business but uh Ric- your dad when he found out he broke down. A-and that night, when Lori was explaining what happened to him, I was walking by, and all I could hear was his sobbing. It lasted all night." 

Jacey looked at him, trying to console her tears, "I've made my decision." 

"I think you've made the wrong one," He shot back, "Names Glenn by the way." 

Jacey smiled at the man, "Jacey, but I'm not going to change my mind no matter what you tell me. My dads a strong man he'll get over it." 

"He won't," Shane apprised, "I know him and he won't. Neither will Carl nor will your mom. They still haven't and its been months. I still hear Carl having nightmares about it." 

"Shut up Shane." 

"No, I won't because you mean so god damn much to that kid! He can barely sleep at night because you're not with him. And your mom constantly worries about him because she thinks the same thing will happen to him. Glenn already said what your dads like, but I guess you don't care right?" 

"Shut up." 

"You don't have to watch it or hear it, so it doesn't bother you. You can live happily while they are forced to live without you." 

"Shut your fucking mouth!" She screamed at him, stopping him from continuing, "I'm not coming back with you." 

"I have to tell them, kid. It's what's right," He told her. 

"How will it make it better?" Shane just looked at the girl, "You know that Dad won't stop looking for me and will probably get killed doing it. Mom will continue worrying not only for Carl but for me as well. Carl will still have nightmares, and he'd have to live knowing he left his sister behind. How could any of that be possibly better?!" Shane studied the girls cold and unbreaking face.

"Face it Walsh grieving is easier than any of that."

Glenn sighed, looking at the scene unravelling. "If you change your mind this is where our camp is," he tells her taking his map out of his bag and giving it to her. 

She mutters a thank you and looks back at Shane, "I'm sorry Shane, but things are different now. The world has changed and so have I. If you do end up telling them um... just tell them that I love them. Shane saw the tears form in her eyes and nodded, "It's getting late. We should head back." Jacey hummed a small 'yeah' and waved them off as they left. Shane turned around last minute and told her, "Your dad would be so proud of the woman you've become. If only he could see how strong you became." Shane walked away after finishing causing her to finally breathe. 

She looked over to her friend, who was still angry that she just brushed them off, "I can't believe you." 

Jacey sighed, picking up her bag and walking closer, "Can we stop talking about this? All that matters is that I've got you back, okay?" Addie reluctantly nodded and set off back to camp.

“That’s what you’re wearing?”

Feyre blinked, looking down at her outfit. She was wearing ripped jeans, laced boots, and a short-sleeved cropped top. She didn’t see what the big deal was. The hem of her shirt almost touched the high-waisted band of her jeans. A small, pale sliver of skin was all that showed.

“Yes,” she said, going to step past her father. 

He moved in the way of her path. “I think you should go change.”

Feyre rolled her eyes. “Elain is waiting for me in the car. Let me through before I’m late for my first day.”

“I will,” he said, crossing his arms, looking so much like Nesta that Feyre felt the need to cringe, “when you put on another shirt.”

Feyre didn’t move. “I’m almost eighteen years old. I’m almost an adult. You can’t tell me what I can and cannot wear. I’m not a child.”

“You’re not eighteen yet,” he said. “My house, my rules.”

Feyre took a deep breath. “And what? When I’m eighteen, it’ll all magically change overnight?”

Isaac began to rub his temples. “I’m not going to argue with you. Go change.”

Feyre turned around and stomped through the house. Instead of going upstairs, though, she went through the backdoor. It was a beautiful, warm, early-September morning. The sun was already fairly high in the sky as Feyre rounded the front of their house in the city of Velaris and found Elain sitting in her running, bright yellow convertible.

She smiled. “It’s about time.”

“Dad decided he wanted a last minute argument,” she mumbled, falling into the passenger side. “Alright, take me to hell.”

Elain laughed, putting her car in reverse. “Now that we don’t live near Nesta, are you the cynical one?” 

Feyre grinned. “Someone has to be, right? Besides, dad pisses me off. Nothing I ever do is good enough when I literally spend all my time working my ass off. I worked two jobs this summer, and he never once told me good job Feyre, you’re doing great. No, instead he has to get onto me about something. It’s like he looks for something to get on to me about.”

Elain glanced over at her sister as they sped down the road. “He loves you. You know that.”

Feyre nodded, but she didn’t know that.

The only one their father had ever shown much affection toward was Elain after the death of their mother. Perhaps it was because, out of the three of them, she looked the least like their mother.

Neither of them said anything more as they rode to school, the warm breeze flowing through their hair. Feyre wasn’t sure what to expect. She had liked her old school just fine, but she had heard good things about Velaris High. As they pulled into the parking lot, though, she had never realized just how big it was. Her last school had been tiny in comparison.

Students were everywhere, all in groups laughing and talking amongst one another.

Feyre’s nerves began to set in.

“I’ll be going to cheer tryouts after school,” Elain said, “so, if you want a ride home it won’t be until four-thirty.”

Feyre nodded, but she could hardly hear her sister’s words. Her eye had caught on the boy Elain had parked next to.

He was sitting in the bed of what Feyre assumed was his truck, downing a soda as he caught her eye.

And grinned.

His violet eyes sparked to life.

Under her breath, Feyre cursed. “Seriously?”

He hopped down from the truck bed as Feyre got out of Elain’s car. He was wearing all black, a short sleeved shirt and jeans, and Feyre imagined that he had to be burning up.

But, he wasn’t sweating, wasn’t even glistening. 

“Good morning. Enjoy your pizza last night? Made it myself.”

One of his friends, still sitting in the truck bed, with nearly white hair, scoffed. “No he didn’t.”

The boy rolled his eyes. “This is Kallias. Beside him is his girlfriend, Viv, and that’s Helion.”

They all waved. Feyre, not wanting to be completely rude, waved back.“

And this is…” he paused, waiting for a name.

“Feyre,” Elain said, coming up behind her, when her sister said nothing. “I’m Elain. We just moved here at the beginning of the summer.”

He grinned, not taking his eyes, those damn, beautiful eyes, from Feyre’s. “I’m Rhys. It’s such a pleasure to meet you.”

“What the fuck did you do to your hair?”

Nesta had gone to his apartment and he hadn’t said as much as a hello before the scolding began.

“Making a statement,” she said, shrugging, as if his question hadn’t been a slap in the face.

“You look ridiculous,” he said, closing the door behind her.

She didn’t bother to correct him. 

“What have you been doing today?” she asked, sitting on his couch. “Good day at work?”

He shrugged. “Yeah, I guess.”

The moment his ass hit the couch his hand was working its way up her thigh. 

“Didn’t you start classes today?”

Nesta nodded. “I just had one. This morning.”

She almost hadn’t gotten out of bed to go, but she didn’t bother to tell him that. He would just scold her about that, too.

His fingers reached between her thighs and he rubbed, gently. Before she knew it, his mouth was on her neck and he was pushing her back, lying over her.

“Tomas,” she began, pushing on his chest.

He didn’t take the hint.

His mouth pressed against hers and she cringed.

He was too heavy for her to push off. She was already small, and she hadn’t been eating much lately or sleeping well.

Weak.

She was weak.

“Tomas,” she said again, panic beginning to set in. “Stop.”

He didn’t. His hand slid beneath her shirt, his hips against her own, pinning her body in place.

“I’m not in the mood,” she said into his mouth.

He cupped her breast, thrusting his hips into hers, reaching for the band of her leggings with his free hand.

“Stop!” she yelled, beginning to slap at his back. “I’ve asked you to stop!”

He pulled back, slightly. His eyes were lit with anger as he said, “You’re an idiot.”

“It’s okay for me to say no sometimes,” she hissed.

He shook his head. “Do you realize how stupid you sound?”

Stupid. Idiot. No personality.

“I’m not in the mood,” she repeated, shoving at his chest again.

“Then I’ll get you in the mood,” he snapped back.

Stupid.

Idiot.

Worthless, pathetic, useless.

Nesta said nothing more as he stripped her down and explored her body. She didn’t move, didn’t speak, hardly breathed as he did as he wished.

Her emotions turned off, the little she felt going completely numb as she lied there, staring at the ceiling as he moved in and out of her.

His hand crept up to her throat and pushed.

She felt like she couldn’t breathe.

But she didn’t care. She didn’t want to breathe, anyway.

“You like that?” he asked, grunting as he pushed, his hand around her throat tightening as he neared his climax.

Nesta said nothing as her vision began to cloud.

She closed her eyes, counting the seconds until it was over.

“You could have at least pretended like you were into it,” he hissed, once he was finished, as he crawled off of her and walked into the washroom. Nesta lied perfectly still, not bothering to wash him off her as tears slid down her cold, porcelain cheeks.

Feyre sat on the bleachers, watching potential cheerleaders gather on the gym floor.

She had walked away from Rhys that morning, determined to ignore him all day. She didn’t know what it was about him, but something about him rubbed her the wrong way.

She knew for a fact that it wasn’t because he was undoubtedly handsome.

“Are you here for cheer tryouts?”

Feyre blinked, realizing the blonde girl in front of her was talking to her.

“Oh, um,” Feyre began, struggling to find words. “No, I’m just waiting for my sister.”

She lifted a brow. “Are you sure? Open tryouts. We have a lot of spots we need to fill. Come on, give it a shot.”

Her smile was warm, and Feyre almost felt guilty when she said, “No, sorry, cheer isn’t really...my thing.”

The girl wasn’t offended. Her smile just brightened. “Fair enough. If you change your mind, feel free to jump in at any time.”

With that, she turned around and went to the center of the gym. “Hello, cheerleaders! My name is Mor. I’m captain of this squad and the one who’ll be deciding if you’ve got what it takes to cheer for VHS!”

Feyre spotted Elain on the far side of the court, brown eyes bright. She looked like she was doing okay. Elain was a fairly confident girl, and she was a great cheerleader. Realizing she didn’t need Feyre sitting there the entire time, she got up and quietly exited the gym, if only so Mor wouldn’t approach her again.

She seemed nice but awfully pushy. The halls were quiet.

Feyre liked the school better this way. She hadn’t had a bad day. It had really all been a blur. She had six classes, with lunch right in the middle. She had eaten alone, but she hadn’t minded that much, either.

Feyre went past her locker, down the arts wing. The art room was empty and, to her dismay, locked.

A sweet, soft sound traveled down the hall from the last room on the left. A guitar, acoustic, and a male’s voice. She couldn’t make out his words. It was as if he wasn’t quite confident in what he was singing, but Feyre was entranced.

She walked closer with quiet footsteps.

The door to the music room was open, but Feyre didn’t enter. Instead, she stood off to the side, peeking in as far as she could without being noticed.

There he sat, hunched over a black acoustic guitar, bangs hanging in his eyes as he sang a melody. His fingers moved expertly across the fretboard, picking the strings without fault.

Rhys. The grin he’d had during their two encounters was gone. His eyes were closed, his mouth softly hanging open as he played, as he sang.

His voice was beautiful, captivating, melodic.

Feyre leaned against the wall just outside of the music room and simply listened.

Beautiful.

It was beautiful.

She stayed there, listening, until the music stopped and she heard him walking across the room. Without another thought, Feyre ran back down the hall and into the girl’s room, where she hid until she saw him walk past.

His voice replayed in her mind for the rest of the day.

Nesta had left Tomas shortly after their encounter on the couch that afternoon.

She’d gone home, turned off her phone, and turned on a movie. When she realized she had no idea what was going on between the characters on screen, she went into her bathroom and filled the bathtub.

Now, she was lying in a pool of lukewarm water, staring at her forearms.

The skin was not hard to break.

She looked at her wounds and still felt nothing.

It was funny how quickly the pain faded. She went from numb, to crying from the sting of the blade, right back to numbness. That moment of feeling was short lived, but it was nearly the only time she felt anything.

Even when she was crying, even when she was screaming, she felt nothing.

Depression is strange.

You feel nothing at all while feeling everything at once. It doesn’t make sense to those who have never felt it, and Nesta envied those who had never felt it. It’s like a war going on inside of your mind at all times, but there’s never an ending, and there’s never a winner. Each battle ends the same way: in nothing but numbness. 

Emptiness.

Stupid.

Idiot.

No personality.

Worthless. She felt worthless. 

She had no idea who she was anyone, had lost the sense of who she was a long time ago.

She looked at her arms, at the streaks of crimson that would soon heal and scar.

And she hated herself even more.

Day 2: Recs!

Because Klaineship is a translator, this is in two languages so it’s long and I’ve needed to put it under a cut tag after the first one. But I really recommend clicking through!!

Okay, so let me start with the translation I am most proud of. It's @adiwriting​ 's 'Hearing Verse' about Deaf!Blaine. I collected all her Tumblr and AO3 posts and one inspired work by @justasmallbloginabigklainefandom​ into one big 63-chapter-piece (over 150.000 words) It's called 'Musik nur, wenn sie laut ist'

What I love the most about this fic is, that it tells Kurt's and Blaine's story from their first meeting through their whole life until they are both old men. In the beginning there is a lot of struggling on both sides to overcome the differences between their lives and experiences as a Deaf-Hearing-Couple. Alongside Kurt I got a deep insight into a world I didn't know existed. It's called Deaf Culture. I had to do a lot of research to get everything right and I really love the German title that came instantly to my mind, when I'd started reading this Verse. It's the title of a song from the 80s by the German singer and songwriter Herbert Grönemeier , that tells the story of a Deaf girl, who 'listens' to music as loudly as possible (as does Blaine in the story as well) to feel the beats of the bass guitar and the drums vibrating through her body.

It's hard to choose a favourite part from such a long story, but I'd say it's already in chapter 3 called 'Versprecher' (Fumbling). I'll add the original part for those of you who can't speak German. ;-) (the ASL signing is written in CAPS LOCK) and if you want to check out why Kurt's fumbling here you may read the footnotes of chapter 3. ;-)

U-M-Z-I-E-H-E-N ? buchstabiert Kurt und nachdem Blaine ihm die Gebärde für 'umziehen' gezeigt hat, nickt er und wird ganz aufgeregt, als wolle er ihm eine richtig tolle Story erzählen. 

ICH ZIEHE IM AUGUST NACH NEW YORK. ICH GEHE ZU N-Y-A-D-A SCHULE . ICH STUDIERE SCHAUSPIEL ! Er gebärdet mit solcher Begeisterung, dass Blaine ihm noch nicht mal wegen seiner schlampigen Gebärden einen Vorwurf machen kann, denn sein Enthusiasmus ist einfach ansteckend.

WOW , gebärdet Blaine, er muss die Tatsache erst mal verdauen, dass Kurt tatsächlich zum Ende des Sommers auch nach New York ziehen wird. Die ganze Zeit hat er sich ausgeredet, Kurt auf ein Rendezvous einzuladen, weil er sich kurz vor dem Abschluss nicht an jemanden binden wollte, aber jetzt gibt es dafür keine Entschuldigung mehr. 

GRATULIERE , fährt Blaine fort, als Kurt ihm seinen Kaffee in die Hand drückt. ICH ZIEHE AUCH NACH NEW YORK . ICH BIN AN DER N-Y-U ANGENOMMEN WORDEN .

WIRKLICH ? Kurt strahlt übers ganze Gesicht und Blaine liebt diesen Anblick. Er fragt sich, wie es wohl wäre, mit Kurt zusammen zu sein und derjenige zu sein, der ihm jeden Tag aufs Neue dieses Lächeln entlocken kann. ICH WILL SEX IN NEW YORK.

Blaine ist so überrascht und schockiert, dass er sich an seinem Kaffee verschluckt und sich heftig hustend an der Theke abstützen muss. Kurt eilt vor die Theke zu ihm, klopft ihm auf den Rücken und schaut ihn betroffen, aber vollkommen unschuldig an, so, als hätte er nicht gerade gesagt, dass er Sex sucht.

BIST DU IN ORDNUNG ?

DU WILLST SEX IN NEW YORK ? vergewissert sich Blaine noch einmal und betet, dass keiner seiner Freunde ausgerechnet jetzt durch die Tür hereinkommt. Sie würden ihn ewig damit aufziehen.

JA ? gebärdet Kurt, als wäre Blaine verrückt, weil er das so überraschend findet. Es ist nicht so, dass er sich Kurt nicht als sexuelles Wesen vorgestellt hat – seine Gedanken sind sogar viele, viele Male in diese Richtung gewandert, jedes Mal, wenn er die Duschen für sich alleine hatte – aber er hat Kurt nicht als den Typen eingeschätzt, der so offen darüber spricht.

ICH BIN ÜBERRASCHT DASS DU MIR DAS ERZÄHLST. ICH HABE ES NICHT ERWARTET , erklärt Blaine, und versucht, die peinliche Situation einigermaßen zu entschärfen. Kurt muss annehmen, dass er total naiv ist. Wenn er nicht vorher schon dachte, dass Blaine noch ein Kind ist, dann mit Sicherheit jetzt.

ICH WILL SEX IN NEW YORK ? JA. WARUM S-O-L-L-T-E ICH DORT ZUR SCHULE GEHEN , WENN NICHT LERNEN WIE SEX ?

Ungefähr in der Hälfte von Kurts drolligem Versuch, einen richtig langen Satz zu gebärden, fällt bei Blaine der Groschen und es dämmert ihm, dass da wohl ein Missverständnis vorliegt. Er beginnt zu lachen. SEX ? gebärdet er und wartet, bis Kurt nickt, dann buchstabiert er es: S-E-X ? WAS ? NEIN ! antwortet Kurt, er schaut sich hektisch im Laden um und wird feuerrot. DU HAST S-E-X GEBÄRDET , erklärt Blaine, und kann nicht aufhören zu lachen. DU SAGTEST DU WILLST SEX IN NEW YORK . NEIN ! Kurt schaut entsetzt und Blaine findet die ganze Sache absolut liebenswert. A-R-B-E-I-T . ARBEIT , korrigiert ihn Blaine und zeigt ihm, wie die Gebärde richtig aussieht, und während er noch vor wenigen Wochen ziemlich genervt gewesen wäre, ist es um ehrlich zu sein ein Fehler, der jedem unterlaufen könnte, der es nicht besser weiß.

SCHON GUT . ES IST WITZIG , gebärdet er, als Kurts Gesicht immer noch keine Anstalten macht, wieder seine übliche Färbung anzunehmen. WITZIG NEIN . ICH VERSUCHE DICH B-E-E-I-N-D-R-U-C-K-E-N .Blaine versteht sofort, was Kurt buchstabiert, aber irgendwo vorher muss er wohl was falsch verstanden haben. Wenn Blaine schon zögert, mit einem hörenden Jungen auszugehen, dann hat Kurt sicherlich kein Interesse daran, mit jemandem zu gehen, der taub ist. MICH BEEINDRUCKEN ? WARUM ? fragt er und hält den Atem an. DU BIST SÜSS .

* * M-O-V-I-N-G? Kurt spells and once Blaine teaches him the sign for moving, Kurt nods and gets excited like he’s about to tell him some really good piece of gossip. I MOVE TO NEW YORK IN AUG. I GO TO N-Y-A-D-A SCHOOL. I STUDY DRAMA! He signs so excitedly that Blaine can’t even lecture him for his sloppy signing because his enthusiasm is just so damn contagious.

WOW, Blaine signs, letting it sink in that Kurt’s actually going to be moving to New York as well at the end of the summer. While he’d been talking himself out of asking Kurt out because he didn’t want to get attached to anybody this close to graduation, he didn’t have an excuse anymore. CONGRATULATIONS, Blaine continues as Kurt hands him his coffee. I’M MOVING TO NEW YORK, TOO. I GOT ACCEPTED INTO N-Y-U. REALLY? He signs, his face lighting up in a way that Blaine just loves. He wonders what it would be like to date Kurt, to be able to be the one to make him smile like that all of the time. I WANT SEX IN NEW YORK. Blaine’s so shocked and caught by surprise that he actually chokes on his coffee and has to hold onto the countertop while he coughs heavily. Kurt rushes around to stand beside him and pat him on the back, giving him a concerned, but completely innocent look like he hadn’t just implied that he was looking for sex. YOU OK? YOU WANT SEX IN NEW YORK? Blaine signs again, praying that none of his friends will chose this exact moment to walk in the door. They’ll never let him live it down. YES? he signs like Blaine’s somehow crazy for finding that surprising. It’s not that he’s never thought of Kurt as a sexual being — he’s thought of him that way many, many times, whenever he can get the showers to himself — but he didn’t like Kurt was the type to talk about it so openly. I’M JUST SURPRISED YOU TOLD ME THAT. I WASN’T EXPECTING IT, Blaine explains, trying to make up for the amount of embarrassment he just caused. Kurt must think he’s completely naive now. If he didn’t think Blaine was a kid before, he certainly will now. I WANT SEX IN NEW YORK? YES. WHY W-O-U-L-D I GO TO SCHOOL THERE, IF NOT LEARN HOW TO SEX?” It’s about halfway through Kurt’s adorable attempt at signing a long sentence that things start to click in Blaine’s mind and he realizes that they’ve probably had some sort of misunderstanding along the way. He starts to laugh. SEX? He signs and waits for Kurt to nod before spelling it out. S-E-X? WHAT? NO! Kurt signs, looking around the shop frantically and turning beet red. YOU SIGNED S-E-X, he explains, unable to stop laughing. YOU SAID YOU WANT SEX IN NEW YORK. NO! Kurt looks horrified and he can’t help but find the entire thing adorable. W-O-R-K. WORK, Blaine corrects him and shows him the proper way to sign it and while several weeks ago he would have been annoyed, it honestly is an easy mistake for somebody who doesn’t know any better. IT’S OK. IT’S CUTE, he signs when Kurt’s face shows no sign of going back to its normal color. CUTE NO. I TRY I-M-P-R-E-S-S YOU, Kurt signs. Blaine understands what Kurt’s spelling immediately, but he’s still sure that he’s misunderstood somewhere along the line. As much as Blaine’s reluctant to date a hearing guy, he’s sure that Kurt has no interest in dating somebody who’s Deaf. IMPRESS ME? WHY? he asks, holding his breath for the answer. YOU’RE CUTE. Tell us what inspired you to translate this I just had translated 4 or 5 works up to that time and I loved the story and most of the chapters are less than 2000 words so I thought it was a good chance to see if I could go through with such a big project. I started posting in July 2016 when I was 10 chapters into the story with translating and managed to post at least once a week, so by March 2017 it was finished. What me inspired the most was the real life aspect of the story. It's an up and down of happy, sad, desperate, funny and every day family life with everything in between. And Kurt and Blaine as Dads of three girls are just priceless.

@flamingmuse is one of my absolute favorite authors when it comes to canon compliant stories (though I also love her 'Near Misses'-AU). We share an endless love for Kurt E.Hummel and the way she describes him is 100 % my head canon. For me the translation has been a big deal because it was the first time for me to translate explicit sex scenes. I didn't have a beta back then and I think I edited it a thousand times before I finally dared to post it.

Nur wenige Stunden später fällt es Kurt wie Schuppen von den Augen. Nicht wegen Blaine, der nach der Verkündung der Abschlussballkönigin im Schulflur unerschütterlich ist und unglaublich lieb auf der Tanzfläche, sondern wegen all der Anderen.

Menschen ändern sich nicht einfach. Er müsste es eigentlich wissen, denn er ändert sich schließlich auch nicht, aber er war so naiv gewesen, zu glauben, dass er auch in dieser Hinsicht anders wäre. Hoffnung kann so verführerisch sein.

Er betrachtet sich in seinem Ankleidespiegel, bevor er sein Abschlussball-Outfit auszieht und fragt sich, was seine Mitschüler sehen, das er nicht sieht. Ja, er trägt einen Kilt, aber das ist ein Kleidungsstück für Männer. Selbst wenn er das ein oder andere Teil aus einer Damenkollektion trug, war er darunter immer ganz klar männlich gewesen. Er hat niemals versucht, ein Mädchen zu sein. Er ist kein Mädchen.

Kurts Augen sehen Männerschultern, einen maskulinen Brustkorb, den leichten Schatten von Barthaar auf einem männlich markanten Kinn. Er hat die Frisur eines Mannes und seine sehnige Kraft. Er hat einen männlichen Adamsapfel, die Hüften eines Mannes und die ganz und gar nicht zierlichen Füße eines Mannes.

Seine Stimme, sein Stil und sein Herz machen Kurt nicht weiblich. Sie machen ihn nicht zu einer Königin, welchen Sinn man diesem Wort auch immer geben mag.

Aber wenn seine Umgebung ihn ansieht, wird ihm klar – erinnert er sich – dann sieht sie anscheinend etwas anderes.

The scales fall from Kurt's eyes mere hours later. Not about Blaine, who is steadfast in the hallway after the announcement of Prom Queen and kind beyond belief on the dance floor, but about everything else.

People don't change. He should know that, because he doesn't change, but he'd foolishly thought that he was different in that regard, too. Hope is such a seductive emotion.

He looks at himself in the full-length mirror before he takes off his prom outfit and wonders what his classmates see that he does not. Yes, he's wearing a kilt, but that's a man's garment. Even when he's worn women's pieces, he's still clearly been male beneath. He's never once tried to be a girl. He isn't one.

To his eyes, Kurt has a man's shoulders, a man's chest, and a man's faint scratch of stubble on a man's jaw line. He has a man's hair, a man's height, and a man's wiry strength. He has a man's Adam's apple, a man's hips, and a man's in no way dainty feet.

His voice, his style, and his heart do not make Kurt female. They do not make him a queen in any sense of the word.

But when the world looks at him, he realizes - he remembers - they must see something different.

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

When I first read this fic I'd been instantly captivated by flamingmuse's talent in explaining what's going on in Kurt's mind. Through her eyes I could finally understand why he acted the way he did. His brittleness, his snarky way, his closed-off-ness (is that a word?). She let it all seem completely clear to me. So this is why it's been one of the first stories I'd felt the need to translate, but because of said sex scenes I procrastinated it a bit and it took me half a year to finally post it.

# 3: Translation of another AU I instantly fell in love with. It's  @itslaurastone 's  'Where There's Smoke'  on AO3 about Firefighter!Blaine

Tell us what else you love about the story, and what you love about your translation of it

I come from a firefighter background myself, so it's been interesting to compare German and American firefighter-specifics and explain them to German readers. On my German fanfic account I gave it a German title. There it's called 'Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer'   .  This story had some tricky puns and quite challenging long nested sentences (can you say that? In German it would be 'Schachtelsätze') in a very poetic language that challenged my translating skills a lot and for those who know the story..... there is a poem I had to translate as well. Fortunately from chapter 11 on I had a wonderful beta, @klaine-rants, who also happened to be very knowledgeable about American Football and together we did quite a good job if I may say so. (including a hot shower sex scene  ;-))   an example:

Blaine got to his feet in one fluid motion, curling his body around Kurt's back to kiss and nip along the edge of Kurt's shoulder, giving Kurt a wonderful view of his long lashes, heavy with moisture and fanned out slightly across his cheeks. He felt his breath hitch as his heart clenched in his chest.

Blaine kam mit einer einzigen eleganten Bewegung auf die Beine und schmiegte sich an Kurts Rücken, um seine Schulter küssen und beknabbern zu können und er erlaubte Kurt einen wunderbaren Blick auf seine langen Wimpern, benetzt mit Wassertröpfchen und Fächern gleich auf seinen Wangen ausgebreitet. Kurt stockte der Atem und sein Herz setzte einen Schlag aus.

Kurt schnaubte verächtlich und drehte sich auf dem Barstuhl um, um sich weiter mit ihr zu unterhalten, während sie sich die Haare vor dem Badezimmerspiegel richtete. "Du willst ja nur diesen Feuerwehrmann, der dich wegen", er deutete mit den Fingern Anführungszeichen an, " 'einer möglichen Rauchvergiftung' genauestens untersucht hat, mit deinen überragenden Hausfrauenqualitäten beeindrucken."

Sie lehnte sich aus dem Türrahmen und fixierte Kurt mit einem sartanischen Grinsen. "Oh, fängst du jetzt damit an, Kurt? Denn dann werd ich dir jetzt auch mal was erzählen." Sie schob die Hüfte vor und zeigte mit ihrer Haarbürste direkt auf ihn. "Du hast gesagt, du willst, dass er wiederkommt und dich rettet."

Kurt stotterte: "Das hab' ich nicht! Ich habe nur gemeint ...oh, Gott!" Er verbarg stöhnend das Gesicht in beiden Händen. "Hab ich das? Ich weiß nicht, was in mich gefahren ist, er ist einfach ..... Ich steh nicht auf dieses 'Jungfrau in Nöten Ding', überhaupt nicht. Es ist nur .... Locken! Und diese Hosen. Und sein Lächeln, bitte sag mir, dass dir sein Lächeln aufgefallen ist?"

Rachel schaltete das Badezimmerlicht aus, kam die paar Schritte auf Kurt zu und nahm ihn fest in den Arm. "Er war wirklich süß und er schien nett zu sein. Ich versteh dich ja."

Kurt fuhr sich ächzend mit beiden Händen übers Gesicht. "Ich kann dort nicht aufkreuzen. Ich kann einfach nicht. Wahrscheinlich wird seine kesse, wunderhübsche Freundin hereinschneien, sie werden sich vor meinen Augen küssen und er wird ihr genau dann und dort einen Antrag machen und es wird ein weiterer Beweis sein, dass ich die schreckliche Angewohnheit habe, mich immer wieder zu Kerlen hingezogen zu fühlen, die ich nicht haben kann."

Finn, Sam, der gutaussehende, verführerische Spanier aus seinem zweiten Jahr an der NYADA, der unglaublich heiße, junge Mann aus Wyoming mit dem zähen Südstaatenakzent und jetzt ein Feuerwehrmann. Footballspieler, ein Ausländer mit Oldtimer-Motorrad, ein Cowboy und ein Feuerwehrmann – jetzt fehlten ihm nur noch ein Indianer und ein Polizist und er hätte die 'Village People' komplett.

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

There are two aspects that made me love this story from the beginning.

One is the firefighter aspect. It required much less internet research than the Hearing Verse, because I am familiar with the topic.

Second is the wonderful mix of utterly adorable, sweet and funny moments with really tough and hurtfull stuff. Kurt and Blaine fall for each other right from the beginning, but it takes them 3 1/2 chapters to finally go out on their first date. Both of them have been deeply hurt in the past and are very careful of giving their heart away. And then there is some Burt and Finn as well and that is a treat I could never resist.

It deals with the fact that Mr Schue has been elected 'Teacher of the Year'. Though we all know that Will Schuester is far from a good and inspiring teacher, Glee always wanted to tell us how great he is. And Kurt, though rolling his eyes at almost everything Will says in Glee during all three seasons seems to be perfectly happy with him being 'Teacher of the Year' as well. This story tells in a very comprehensible way Kurt's thoughts and struggles concerning the voting.

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

Like the other parts of my Missing-Scenes-Collection this story remediates the fact that the Glee writers often messed up gloriously. Sometimes due to time restrictions, or to serve the plot or the dramatic arc (like making Blaine a junior all of a sudden) or maybe because they just forgot (like Blaine's Sadie Hawkins-trauma). I don't think I could love this show as much as I do, if it just was the Glee story and nothing else. It's fanfiction what made the Klaine story so precious to me. All the little glimpses into their heads and hearts, all the missing scenes, comprehensible explanations of completely unlogical actions ..... all the inspirational sparks those authors came up with.
