out of character. I know I insult Toshiro every now and then (playfully! Playfully, I promise!) but it has to be a lowkey pet peeve of mine when people can't compliment their character without in turn putting another character down. Inherently, yeah, shounen manga/anime are big about power comparisons and such -- I fall into that, too, because it's fun to imagine how Gin could do vs. other characters not shown to ever fight or need to fight in canon. But I dunno, I think it's more classy to lift up the character you're saying your character's better than. It's way more badass of me to say 'Gin killed Aizen when Aizen couldn't be made to bleed by anyone else' -- instead of me saying 'Gin killed Aizen because Aizen's slow as fuck in comparison and a dumb SLUT' ... is Aizen, in fact, a dumb slut? Hell yeah. But Gin sounds way cooler when I leave that part out, y'know? Anyway, we all want our blorbos to sound cool and all and that's fine, but remember that y'can make them sound way cooler if you make their opponents sound cool, too.
