Can we talk about Turntail? Like I knew Queen the First (fifth? Miss Birdsong? Do you have a nickname for her that I’ve misremembered…) obviously had the voice of an angel, but these RUNS she is doing on this song?! They are so convoluted but she sings them so TIGHTLY?!?! And PRECISE?!?? How do I get more heart eyes over her, holy hell what a talent
You know what. It's currently past 3am and I'm playing Zelda because I can't sleep (running on sick hours over here), so yeah absolutely we can talk about Turntail 😌 Also, I don't really have a nickname for her, I just call her Miss Ma'am hahaha. Miss Birdsong is great, I'll borrow that.
(okay it is now past 4am i spent WAY too much time gushing over them sorry lol)
HONEY. THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING. If you think she sounds amazing as a BACKVOCALIST, then you're in for a treat to hear her as a main vocal of her OWN BAND HELLOOOOO.
I remember a few months ago in one of their (live? Q&A? one of them) instagram things, someone was commenting on how great she sounded, and one of the guys was like "yeah, and she didn't even get training, isn't that so annoying?", it was hilarious 😂 Miss Ma'am is a natural - no wonder Vessel got her (and the babes) to back him 💅
Turntail is fantastic, I've had it on repeat since Thursday. Their music is so interesting and unique, and a great of it is because of her singing. She does this crazy runs and unexpected intervals like it's nothing, and her tone is so so SO clear and stable. Her lows??? Like, honey can go reeeeal low and smooth and real high and crystalline in seconds just like that??
This song in specific, I super appreciate the eerie, melancholic vibes. It's such a great successor to The Collapse (their previous single), but somehow even better. And can we talk about that sexy bassline??? Johnny boy went HARD on it (like he always does. Same with my drummer boy Matt, he's fantastic. Also he writes a lot of the lyrics alongside Lyns, he's fantastic). I love the breakdown bridge and that last chorus so SO much. And the piano??? They always have the most heart-wrenching, soul-crushing, beautiful piano melodies, and yet I get pikachu faced everytime. What can't the queen do. Also, this is the first time they're using a voice effect-tune-thingy so, interesting choice there. The babes sound beautiful as ever too 💖
While my favourite thing from them is still the 1st ep (The Thing With Feathers - please please PLEASE go listen to it. The Downpour and The River are my favourite songs of them, they're so amazing, please I am begging you, you'll love it), you can absolutely hear how much better they get with each new thing they put out. I'm so so excited for when they finally release a full length album, it's been a long time in the making.
If you listen to their latest ep, Dancing In The Face Of Danger, you'll see that they went for a more upbeat vibe (notable on Pyre and Ever The Optimistic), so it feels great to hear the Sad Vibes™ again. Nothing against upbeat stuff (Pyre is one of their best songs fr), but I am an emo at heart sooo... yeah. Miss Birdsong sounds like an elf or some other woodland creature - idk if its just me but you can hear traces of folk music in it and ugh what a combo.
Super super reccomend you hear them live. There are a few recordings on YT, and some of them do feature one or both of the Espera babes too.
(not gonna talk about how once again i missed their concert 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 it was today/yesterday 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 i'm fine really not salty at all 😃😃😃😃😃😃)
Also - do not sleep on their Diamond Eyes cover. Genuinely does NOT feel like a cover AT ALL. Covering Deftones is so daunting because of how unique a they are, and by god those beautiful bastards did it. I do very much prefer their version to the og, she really shines vocally there.
#I am SO SORRY about the word vomit but I really do love them#i've been listening more of them than Sleep Token these past months lmao#it makes me sad that they still get so little views/traction (in comparison). obviously numbers are whatever but#they are genuinely such a uniquely talented band. they deserve a billion streams on every single song and video#their my babies 🥹💙🥹💙#i'm always down for some Exploring Birdsong discourse (should you ever want to talk some more *wink wink*)#ngl i do miss when they used to open for Sleep Token. obviously that's not *really* a feasible option anymore#and i guess they'd want to have that separation anyways since she is publicly on both things. which makes perfect sense but#ya know. i would've love to see them both at the same time. but whatever i am NOT missing the next show. no sir.#big huge ginormous hug for this because they've genuinely become one of my favourite bands and i love talking about them#darya answers#exploring birdsong

I thought the same! It sounds like there's some kind of effect on his voice and I wish there wasn't because I love his voice so much as it is. I hope we get to hear his voice properly on the album and it isn't all like that.
I had loads of asks so I’m just gonna put them in one so I’m not spamming! I’ve listened to it on proper speakers now but it’s still not the best recording although it does sound so much better. I agree about his voice 100% it’s similar to Showtime, and I wish it stood out more.
Aww that’s totally okay, I don’t think you should feel bad. Just because you’re a huge fan of a band you don’t have to be crazy about everything they put out. No one come for me but I never really listened to The Car much as I wasn’t keen on the new direction of their music but I love AM still!
I hope we get to find out next year. I really want to hear Van singing them live. Always wonder how they’d do Showtime live with the piano bit - a backing track I suppose?
Me too! Need him screaming “tell your sister to wait” into the mic!
Yeah it sounds like way. I really hope it’ll be released soon as I need to blast a full proper version. He’s got such an amazing voice, when you hear him live singing acoustic with just his guitar it gives you goosebumps so I’m hoping we get to hear it much clearer on other tracks.
It’s a big change for them and I get why people are unsure about it if you’re wanting that huge heavy sound and big guitar and drums. For me I quite like the upbeat and summery vibes, I think it’s going to grow on me massively when it’s properly out and it’ll be a tune that gets stuck in my head. I like that they’re trying something new, it’s a huge thing for Van. It does show how the other musicians in the band influenced their music though. Again don’t feel bad! What did you think of Showtime?
I kinda get this 😂
Do we think it’s going to be a single or just made for FIFA? Feels kinda weird being a single and coming out this way
Yeah it’s not clear but the recording’s not the best either. Anyone tried to make out the lyrics yet? I’m only getting snippets but might try and listen again later and write them down. Can’t wait to hear the whole thing… wonder how it starts!
Sorry if I miss any asks out btw xxx

7, 8, 11, 18 pls!!
okay, definitely putting a readmore lol
7: Favourite live performance of a song
Okay, I'm definitely biased on this one, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the demo version of wonderful woman and I don't even want to know how often I've watched this video, but it's this 1983 performance of "What do You See in Her":
https://youtu.be/W9ktxjzC_4A !
The way Morrissey sings is SO incredibly emotional, and you notice how personal those lyrics are to him - this is what people mean when they say "he poured his heart and soul into it". Wonderful Woman is among the most underrated Smiths songs for me, but honestly, I'm still sad about the lyric change.
I also have to dedicate a honourable mention to this 1986 performance to The Queen is Dead: https://youtu.be/-o76TepMrJI. Though i was first completely put off by Morrissey's random gurgling and gagging, and disliked this performance when I first saw this video, it has now definitely grown on me. Though I wouldn't listen to this version when I just want to hear the song, it definitely fits the vibe of the song: it's not only meant to be an easy listen, but also convey a message, while ALSO being witty and ironic. Also, LOOK AT JOHNNY PLAYING THE GUITAR WITH A DRUMSTICK??? i LOVE this man so much.
8: Best cover of a Smiths song
I don't know if this is a basic answer, but I really like the Deftones cover of "Please, Please, Please, Let me Get What I Want". The band brings a completely different sound to the song and changes your eperience listening to both the original and the cover, and I think this is what a great cover is supposed to do. Also love the recordings with Sandie Shaw, but I'm not sure if they count as covers haha
11: Theory I'd like to share
This one is a bit far-fetched, but here goes:
So, I know that "This Night Has Opened my Eyes" is at least partially based on "A Taste of Honey", but I do think that it is also based on another play called "Faust" by german author Goethe. Actually, the only thing keeping me from 100% believing that theory to be true is that Morrissey has never admitted to being inspired by Goethe, like he has with other great authors. I'll summarise the play here, but fyi, in it, themes of pedophilia/grooming and a dead baby are discussed, so if you don't want to read about this, please skip this one! :)
To sum up the play "Faust" as short as possible, there's this guy ( around 50) who is really booksmart, but doesn't know anything about real life, so he basically makes a bet with the devil, who makes him younger (about half his age) and helps him get with a 14-year old girl called Gretchen, which is obviously very creepy, but at the time people thought it was normal. She comes from a poor household, her mother is sick, she basically had to raise her own sister when she was still a child, and her father isn't around - and now there's this older guy, who also seems to have some money, taking an interest in her. She falls for him, thinks he loves her too - which he doesn't, it's implied that he just wants her for her body (also she's 14 and he's 25! let's not forget this fact). He gets her pregnant and leaves her, and now she's on her own, with no way to support the child, and being outcast by the people in her village, so she sadly drowns the baby. She then goes to jail and dies there, but her soul is saved by god and she goes to heaven. Pretty crazy stuff, honestly.
You can probably already see where this is going: The first verse of the song discusses drowning a baby in a river, which is exactly what Gretchen did. The line that goes "a grown man of 25, he said he'd cure your ills, but he didn't and he never will" also makes a lot of sense through this lens, and by singing "save your life, cause you've only got one" Morrissey could be referencing her soul being saved.
18: How did you first get into the Smiths?
Honestly, completely coincidentally. Last winter, I was just opening up YouTube and looking through my recommended videos when I saw a video titled "There is a light that never goes out". I had heard the name of the band this song was by once or twice, but never really checked them out, but for some reason, I just clicked on the video, and that was it: I was completely enchanted. Naturally, I checked out some other songs and was even more impressed with this band. They became the first band whose full discography I had listened to in the correct order. I just got the urge to find out more and more about them, and they became more and more important to me over time- and now I'm here, with basically almost my whole tumblr account dedicated to this band!

Ten-10 for Pen-pen
Got another 10 in the pike for y'all. Which, to think of it. Why pike? Who puts anything in a fish? Aside from fish food? i guess?
youtube
Talked about this a few weeks back. Short. Sweet. Well, mostly sweet? It's mostly just short, to be honest.
youtube
There are some really nice set pieces in this one, yeah. Loved all the giant zombie-ghosty things. The castle, itself, is a really nicely done environment, tho' i feel like the cameras are really a touch to herky-jerky at times. Gameplay was fun enough, even if a few bits don't totally gel; that bouncy floor bit really didn't quite work for me. The major fly in the ointment is the "This Is Halloween" or whatever it's called playing on loop the whole damned level. Even if it were a good song (and this version of it definitely is not), it just can't sustain 7minutes about of gameplay.
youtube
It's funny how you'll never hear of a creator, and then you blink and suddenly they're everywhere? And they're actually really good? This one is not a perfect recreation of Skulldozer, but it approximates it quite well, while putting its own spin on the proceedings. i am always a little bit wary of the Temple as a level kit, 'cause it feels a little bit of a kind of way towards Indian (subcontinent India, that is, not Native American) folx? i don't know. It's not my place to get angry about it, but it does tend to ping my "is this going to be gross?" radar. Anyways, Joja28 has a tonne of levels, and they all seem to have come out fairly recently, and they're all pretty good. i hope i didn't make that sound suspicious, because it isn't really. Sometimes folx just get on a whole tear in create mode.
youtube
This is another one, like the Snake Temple level above, that got picked up for a Team Pick right after i recorded, but before the episode went live. Hate that. This one's really fun to look at, but not quite as much to engage wiv. If you get out of the score bubble sections, it's really difficult to get back up, so you're just stuck on the boat forever watching the level go by. But the level does, at least, look nice, and it has a lot of character; it just feels really long when you can't engage wiv it.
youtube
The first of Chronos' Neon Dimension series, and already just strong right out the gate. Can we step back and appreciate this was made 12 dang years ago? Chronos was just a wee babby. And he just throws this together, like, oh, yeah, i just had this in my back pocket. i remember playing this the first time and thinking how cool it was that the level just kind of put itself together as i went. That was my benchmark for "is this level really special" for a couple of years when i first started reviewing, and it came from seeing it the first time done well here.
youtube
i think this might be my favourite "HARD" levels, tho it doesn't really bill itself the way those ones do (seriously, a lot of them just have hard in all-caps right in the title). This one's really tricky, and some bits take a fair amount of finesse, but it never feels unfair, and it never feels like it's rushing you along before you're ready. Add to that an excellent presentation, an extremely chill vibe, and a great choice of music, and you've got a real masterclass in level design. i tell you, no lie, i was so proud to beat this one way back in the day.
youtube
Yooo... what is this even? It is so fluid! The animation, it's like, i know it was done in LBP3, but i don't think i've ever seen anyone pull off something that looked quite as good or as well-done as this. The creator said on the title page they might or might not have gotten around to finishing it, but they were publishing it anyways just to have what was completed out there. i'm not familiar wiv the song, so i can't say yay or nay to that; but what we did get is honestly really special.
youtube
We're not also posting this to the subreddit, so i can say more honestly how i feel about this level. Fuck this level. Fuck it right in the ear wiv a big metal dick. Gods. This was actually anti-fun. It actually went out and removed fun from the world. It probably shit on a baby's ice cream while i was playing it, powered by my deep frustration and loathing.
youtube
There are some cute touches in this one, even if i don't feel like it really needed to be as long as it was. i really liked the skiiers and their bits of animation. The setting had a bit more pop in colour than we usually see in snow-themed levels, and i appreciated that as well. But, to be honest, there isn't really too much that sticks out in my mind either? i know that's kind of shitty, but there you go.
youtube
Tell you what, i was not expecting this level to be like this. Like, i've played LaDIDa72's levels before, and they can be tricky, but they always felt tricky in spite of themselves, you know? Like, a little playtesting and polish and they'd work better? i guess i didn't realize that street goes both ways. You can take wonky bits and polish them to be harder. This has got some of the fiddliest, most bullshite platforming i've played in a while and i loved it? It never felt unfair, just always just barely not do-able, and that makes all the difference. Plus, there's little that's dependent on things outside your control, and that, i feel like, is super important to keep players engaged wiv this kind of level. Make someone feel like the fuck up is on their end, and they will beat their heads into the wall trying to get past it, but let them think for a moment that the fuck up was on you as a creator, and they will bounce right out. It super helps this level is pretty as fuck. Like it is just super pretty. Which is half the reason i wasn't expecting it to be a hard level. A lot of times those are just dogshit ugly. Fun fact! i can't watch this video on my own YouTube channel thanks to Song 2 being in the level. Thanks a fucking lump Sony Music Japan! You're total fucking peaches!
---------------------
So that's another ten off the top then. Your usual mix of good, bad, and ugly, but alright enough for all that. It feels like it's becoming my day off refrain, but i got stuff done today, but not what i needed, and not what i wanted. Well, a few things i needed, but not, like, needed-needed, you know?

Day 6/100 - 100 days of productivity 🕊️
🕊️ I prayed the rosary on the train.
🕊️ My brother and I went to a Palaye Royale show together. It was his first time seeing them live. We were standing in the front row as we planned (we were 6 hours early - luckily, waiting for the show always passes quickly).
• The first support band (Bruklin) was imo mediocre. A typical Polish rock band. They didn't stand out in any way.
• The second one (Wiśniosz) was much better. As a person, he didn't make a good impression on us. I DON'T LIKE HIM PERIOD, he behaves like an edgy emo teenager, but I think his music is very good by Polish standards. He really feels the music with his whole being. I love this trait in artists. You could clearly see that in him unlike the band that performed before him. Bro got a picture with him when he came to us off stage.
• We loved the last support (The Hunna). Loved their energy, loved their music. The vocalist has a little bit of Kurt Cobain vibe. They praised Polish beer of course and promised that they will headline a show in our country soon. I'll gladly attend!!
Palaye Royale was excellent as usual. I was so close to the stage at their show for the first time, and I have to say it was a completely different experience. My brother recorded the best videos. I find two of them very funny. Unfortunately, I can upload just one here, but I'll link the second one in a separate post. Sebastian came off the stage to us a few times. Remington goes wild. Nothing new. With Emerson, I just get the feeling that sth isn't as it used to be. He acted as if he didn't care about the performance at all. I'm glad they replaced the bassist (I felt like the previous one was trying too hard to copy Lyn-z). I really liked the live version of "Lonely". Piano version of "Oblivion" was just as great.
After the show we got the pics with Seb 🤍 Definitely my fav. None of them cares as much about connecting with the audience as he does.
Definitely the best concert in the last few days. Maybe even the best of my entire life??

"Good morning, young master, it's 1882..."
The early years of Paul McCartney's post-Beatles group Wings have been on my mind for the past few weeks, even before the untimely passing of the one Wings member who stuck with Paul and the late Linda McCartney through thick and thin: Denny Laine.
15 years ago... Early 2008...
By March, I was scalp-deep in the solo output of McCartney. I had already went through a Beatle-obsessive phase, now I was onto Paul's stuff. His first two albums and such, the first couple of Wings album, just endlessly fascinated by a lot of it...
One day, I had come across a bootleg of a song called... '1882'...
It was in its home demo form, taped sometime in mid-to-late 1970. Presumably a little after the release of MCCARTNEY... The song, in any form, wouldn't see an official release until 2018...
youtube
... and this one fascinated me the *most* out of the unreleased material.
1882 would later be turned into a dreary near 7-minute epic in the studio in 1972, and a similar take was played live throughout the Wings Over Europe tour that took place from July to August of that year. At several points, a live recording from Berlin was to be used on Wings' second album - and Paul's fourth overall - RED ROSE SPEEDWAY, which was released in April 1973 after being cut from a double-LP to a single-disc.
Anyways, where was I? Winter 2008... January-March, precisely... Life was rough. I don't want to get too into it, but my brain was in a very low place... It was small special interests like these that got me through such miserable days, and probably made worse by the bitter winter conditions. New England isn't particularly nice during this time of year, you get some truly bitter days mixed with some inexplicable near-summerish ones. Something something Mark Twain-
And when I heard 1882 for the first time... I felt like, for a moment, after so much going on... It's like I woke up in 1882... Like the opening lyrics of the song... I had such a vivid picture of waking up in a vintage old house in the woods.
At the time, I frequently saw my father on the weekends, when he was living in a city. His house, that he got from his parents, was largely not updated since around the early 1980s I want to say? It still had wood-paneled walls, green shag carpet, '70s wallpaper on a vintage stairwell, and the room I slept in... I might as well have stepped into a bedroom from the 1960s. Like how Thomasin McKenzie's lead character, when she stays in that apartment, in LAST NIGHT IN SOHO.
I honestly miss that house sometimes.
But that all just rammed home the vintage-ness of the song, especially in its home demo form. It sounds like Paul recorded it on his Scottish farm, a bucolic and remote setting far off from Liverpool and London. For sure. I feel that sleepy farm life, a post-Beatles wind-down and restart, is captured so beautifully on MCCARTNEY, RAM, and WILD LIFE, and there's some of it left on RED ROSE SPEEDWAY. (It also helps that two songs on that album are RAM leftovers.)
I also really enjoy the studio and live versions, too, but the home demo fits the time period nicely. It's almost a vivid picture into a mundane, if not grim life in the late 19th century. It really inspired me to write stories set in the late 19th century, British period pieces, stuff like that. Not necessarily Victorian ones, but ones set in the countryside, quaint and relatively uneventful, but very much full of feeling and vibe. Almost like an early Disney film or a Miyazaki film. To this day, I still incorporate those kinds of aesthetics and ideas into what it is I do... It's just endlessly fascinating to me, and I do wonder how a song like this would've been received had it come out when it was supposed to.
And even to this day, sometimes, when all feels like a flurry. An utter tornado, a rush of emotions, happenings, and anxieties... I create a mental black out in my head, and then imagine a character waking up... And it's 1882... Somewhere in the countryside...
(The oil painting is apparently titled A VIEW IN HEREFORDSHIRE, Thomas British, fitting name, made around the 1880s)

Hello! Long post warning. When we infodump we INFODUMP.
First up, I'm Yuno, the one who wrote most of this. Some others chipped in too though, they're in the tags!
So we have three-ish hosts. I say "ish" 'cause Forrest isn't as active anymore? He still has all the abilities of our other two though. Cloud could be considered the "main host," the other two co-hosts are Jonathan and Forrest.
Cloud's been around forever basically, and Forrest is pretty old too but not one of the "originals." Jonathan's been here like a month but we love him <3
So we're a mixed origins non-disordered system, we don't have amnesia barriers and we're monoconscious. Also probably mediple? We haven't reached a consensus on that yet.
We're uhhh VERY fictive heavy! I'm a fictive, Jonathan's a fictive, lotsa fictives here. As far as other introjects go, we have one songtive (lagtrain) too! No factives yet but I assume we'll get one someday probably.
Our system's like. Medium sized? Probably on the large end? Somewhere in the 50-60 headmate zone last I checked. It seems to keep growing though-
Our innerworld is very big and hard to talk about and honestly that would be half of the post if we tried! But I'll try to give the cliff notes version. Our innerworld is basically a massive island separated into different sorta districts.
(The rest of the post is literally just innerworld stuff <3)
There's the beach, sea, and impossible city, all grayscale places, the water is pure black. The impossible city is made up of strange towering buildings that are, well, impossible! Think monument valley if you've played it? Or any of those visual illusions with impossible shapes/geometry. Under the sea is a coral reef and a deep trench where Nix used to live. There's also a little deck that goes out over the ocean, which is our fronting area! It's more of a suggestion than a rule though...
From there there's the fields, which have a sorta dreamcore-y vibe? The sky is always clear and blue, the grass always short and green. There are a buncha doors that just kinda stand alone which can lead into pocket areas, like Cloud's house. This area is also home to one of the NPC groups in our headspace, which we call "the neighbors." They're basically just random silhouettes that walk around in the fields and don't do much?
Uhh then the forest, which kinda has two subareas. There's the darker part of the forest, with coniferous trees, it's all cold there, plus lotsa bones everywhere for some reason, that's where Forrest and Alba live. Then there's the lighter area, that's basically all maple or birch trees, lotsa red leaves and stuff, it's pretty nice.
Then there's the. Other Field. This one's a lot more normal, it's just got a lot of pretty flowers. Morri and Aether live there I think.
There's also the other city, it's very colorful and bright, and in the center is a big circus tent run by Jes. A lot of our entertainer headmates hang around there, you can go see them put on shows. It's really neat actually.
There's also the underground market, which is, well, a market that's underground. It's got a very nice vibe, lots of shops and warm lighting, usually crowded with NPCs.
Then, of course, there's the central mountain, smack dab in the middle of our headspace! It's a towering snowy mountain, originally it looked a lot like dragonspine from genshin impact but not as much anymore. It's hollow on the inside, where Opal lives. That's also where our system's gateway is located! Big door in the middle of the mountain.
Some other notable locations are:
The archives, where Jonathan hangs out, wonder why /sar (He is a TMA introject). It doesn't really seem to have a defined location in the headspace, but it's basically where he keeps all of his records on... Basically all of the system's inner-workings.
The prison ruins, from that one time one of our headmates decided a prison was a good idea without asking the rest of us first. That was... A day. Long story short Cloud blew it up and now we have some sick looking ruins.
The train! Big train that connects all of the areas together. The conductor is one of our headmates, Rook. It's a very fancy and nicely furnished train, wish stained glass windows and really comfy chairs. There are also. A lot of crows. Probably because it's run by Rook.
Rook's sanctuary, basically where Rook hangs out when he's not running the train. It's a big domed greenhouse with perches and bird houses hanging from all over the ceiling. It's like... Way bigger than anyone else's house lmao
And that's. The abridged version of our headspace? Still pretty long.
Wow that turned into a PROPER infodump- sorry most of it was just innerworld stuff
Uhhh ask us anything!
this is an official request for any and all systems / plural folk to info dump about their plurality to us
#💋 || yuno (she/her)#also a little bit#🌨️ || cloud (he/they/it/xe)#📼 || jonathan (he/they)#🔷 || John (they/he/it)#🌠 || Ichika (she/they/he)#basically it was a team effort!

French musicals recs (aka my previous special interests listed in one post)
Actually I wanted to make a post a while ago, since there're some nice musicals that mostly go unnoticed by tumblr even though they are really cool (and have a DVD records)! Before I start I wanna say that these are very different from what Broadway or West End usually stages, so I advise you to just relax and enjoy without purposefully comparing the two together. I bet this gonna be a pretty big post, so clock on "read more"! @machine-without-feelings, hope you'll have fun!
I'm a little extra so it took quite some time to write, so please join me in my weird interest leave a like/rb. Under the read more you'll find:
1) My excited rambles
2) Links to these musicals (proshots with English subs)
3) Some songs to vibe check whether it's something you'd enjoy listening or not
1) Notre-Dame de Paris! Gonna start with this one since it was one of the main reasons I've started to learn French. There was a time where I would watch it every single day. I probably watched it a millions of times by now and was obsessed with it for a good couple of years.
About: What can I say? It's a Hunchback of Notre Dame adaptation that sadly usually goes overlooked when English speakers talk about the book. Which is a shame! Cool French-Canadian cast, good grasp of the original, really nice lyrics and music. Love from the first song for me.
Where to watch: here with English subs, the quality isn't the best, I have a better one on my google drive so you can DM me for link. Plus there're some DVDs of different productions (notably Italian one) just waiting in the internet for free.
Songs recs (to get the vibe of the musical): Actually it's hard to choose, because I love the thing so much, but here're some.
Classic Belle, Le Temps des Cathédrales, Ma Maison C'est Ta Maison, Pretty Guys In Pants In The Background song, Song after which I became Daniel Lavoie fan lmao could add some more but you haven't got all day, just check the whole thing.
2) Le Petit Prince! I said that I wanna promote it and I will. As I said earlier I really liked Daniel Lavoie (aka the guy who played Frollo) and here he plays the pilot!
About: A very very very good adaptation of The Little Prince book. Literally quotes the book in most songs. The music is written by the same composer as NDDP, so it's good. The set and costume design is amazing! It's very colourful and inspired by author's illustrations. I cry each time I watch it cos it gives me FEELS. Also a good musical for beginner French learners imo, not as hard as NDDP, can be an addition to reading the original book. Wholeheartedly recommend, it's criminally underrated.
Where to watch: There's a playlist with English subs, French subs are also to be found on YouTube if you want them.
Songs: Dédicace, C'est un chapeau, Apprivoise-moi.
3) Well, cannot avoid mentionning Roméo et Juliette. Kinda a classic, to be fair. Was probably the 2nd French musical I've heard. More active in terms of music, some tunes gonna stuck in your head for days.
About: Well, it's obvious from the name. Kinda cool actually? Weird in some places but not in a bad way. Good musical to have a fun time (well. at least act 1 is fun, right?). The costumes are a bit cheesy, but that's not important. Still sad the pandemic ruined its tour I hope to see it live one day.
Where to watch: Actually it has two DVDs of different versions from different productions. Some songs changed, I vibe with the earlier version more, but the newer one is nice too.
Songs: Oh these slap, haut my mind since the second I first heard them. Kinda pop. But not that boring pop that modern French musicals have, it kinda has its style. Here're some of my favs: Vérone, Les Rois Du Monde, Aimer (aka the song I can listen for hours).
4) Starmania. Speaking about classic. To be fair, never watched it, only listened to the albums, but I mean it's still looks more like a concert.
About: deppressive cyberpunk and anti-utopia. A lit of bandits. Evil capitalist included. A classic. If you were interested in French songs you've probably heard some of these multiple times.
Where to watch: here
Songs: SOS d'un terrien en detresse, Le Monde Est Stone, Le Blues Du Businessman
5) Le Roi Soleil. Ok, I cannot explain why I like this one. Can't say I was obsessed with it, but I liked it a lot. I like the songs, enjoy relistening from time to time.
About: Louis 14. That's it, that's the musical. Kinda about his romantic relationships and king issues. A bit about La Fronde. But mostly about romance, lmao.
Where to watch: boop
Songs: Être à l'hauteur, Contre Ceux D'un Haut, Un Geste De Vous.
6) Mozart L'Opéra Rock. Was kinda hesistant to add it to the list because I mostly wanted to mention least well-know stuff and it feels to me that Mozart is kinda hype-ish? But I got that it may be not so well-known for the English speakers and it's worth checking out!
About: Well it's about Mozart and it's rock! The songs slap! probably will get in your head and you gonna whistle Le Bien Qui Fait Mal or something. Also Mozart and Salieri are pretty gay.
Where to watch: here! and the quality is great!
Songs: L'Assasymphonie, Place je Passe, J'accuse mon père, Bim Bam Bim Boum
Ok, I'll stop there cos this post took me a few hours to write, I could have added some other musicals, but I guess I need to rewatch them first, cos I barely remember them.
#me being me#musicals#french#french musicals#le petit prince#notre dame de paris#mozart l'opera rock#le roi soleil#starmania#romeo et juliette#my recs#i'd say that nddp and le petit prince are an absolute must-watch#others I like but these two are in its own league

Wang Yibo Song Recommendations
This is a way overdue post. I've been meaning to do a follow-up post to share my favourite Yibo songs after my previous 'Can Wang Yibo Sing?' post.
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Singer XZ but I do enjoy many of Yibo's songs too. For the purpose of this list, I will not include Bu Wang cos it's a given. Obviously everyone likes it right?
1. 说剑 Saying Sword
This is the theme song of the online game Moonlight Blade, released in 2019. Is it weird that my favourite WYB song (aside from CQL's) is a game song? His voice is perfect here and I love the overall richness of the song. The oriental tune, complemented by the poetic lyrics and juxtaposed against the rap verses. The MV is also a treat in itself with the beautiful imagery and Yibo doing the sword dance.
youtube
2. 年少心事 Young Mind
The theme song of the 2018 animated film Crystal Sky of Yesterday, in which Yibo was the voice actor of the character Qi Jingxuan (who's kinda similar to him - cool, slightly bad boy, doesn't speak very much but has a soft core and cares very much for his friends). I like the positive vibes of the song. It speaks of reminiscing one's youth, of chasing dreams, of growing up, but also looking ahead even if one's life doesn't turn out to be as expected.
I'm sharing this clip because it has bts and student Bobo is cute as a button. Full song here. He also performed this song on DDU. Link to the full movie if anyone's interested.
youtube
3. 无感 Wu Gan
Out of Yibo's four singles, Wu Gan is my favourite of the lot. Disregarding the awesome dance choreography, the song itself is great. I don't usually listen to rap music and although Wu Gan is very catchy, it's the lyrics that really enhanced my love for this song. The first time I really looked properly at the lyrics, I remember feeling very touched. At first glance it may seem like a declaration to haters, like you can try but nothing you say is going to hurt me, I don't care. I'll do me. But it's actually deeper and more nuanced than that - it's a summary of his journey, his innermost thoughts, reflection of his past hurt and insecurities, the lessons he learnt over these years. I would go as far to say that from this one song alone, I was able to learn more about Yibo than from some of his interviews. He really is mature and self-aware for his age and despite all that hate and setbacks, his heart is pure and he harbours no resentment. This bit is what touched me the most from this song. Comparing this song to The Rules of My World a year later, I got the sense that there's a shift in his mindset. More determined obviously, but his heart seems a little more...hardened? Not that it's a bad thing and it's understandable given what they went through in 2020. Maybe I'll do a proper analysis of Wu Gan some day when I'm in the mood.
youtube
4. 熹微 Xi Wei
Well, this song needs no introduction. I was deciding between this and the song from Gank My Heart but ultimately decided on Xiwei (which refers to the first light of the day) cos of the criticisms the song received when it was first released, which I felt was totally unwarranted. I haven't watched Legend of Fei but I loved this song when I first heard it, even without looking into the lyrics. The song itself is brimming with affection, of a deep-seated love. It's a love confession written like poetry and presented as a song. Yibo's soulful rendition is the cherry on top.
youtube
5. 二次初 Once Again
The theme song of the 2017 romantic comedy of the same name. This was one of the few duets that Yibo has done to date. It's a bittersweet love song and the MV is cute (I want a cuddly baby Yibo too). It tells the story of a young couple who still miss each other even after they are separated. Even though time has passed, the sweetness of their first love is still deeply etched on their minds and never will be forgotten. Feast your eyes on soft idol WYB cos we'll probably never see him like that again, judging from the acting projects that he has chosen in the past 1+ year.
youtube
BONUS
In my XZ song recommendations, I included my fav XNINE song so I will share my fav UNIQ song here as well.
6. Monster
This was the last song recorded and released by UNIQ. Sadly, there was never an official MV for this song and the first and last time they performed this song was during the 2019 Yue Hua family concert. Even then, the full UNIQ wasn't around and because of that, Yibo had to take on the role of vocalist in this live rendition. He did well and looks super good while doing it. I'm featuring the concert clip for obvious reasons but please check out the studio version. Yixuan penned the lyrics to Monster and it was said to be inspired by Twilight, which I found amusing. Xuan-ge, are you a twihard?
youtube
7. 男孩 Nanhai
This isn't a full song and not even a proper performance but I just needed to include it in my list. Will we ever be blessed with a full version of Yibo singing Nanhai in the near future?

Heartbreak is Enlai's 2nd mini album. It was released almost a year after his first one, on December 15th, 2018, and only digitally. The main track, 888, recieved a simple music video and was promoted for 2 weeks. He didn't get any wins, many views or sales, but he was happy that he could release something for his fans, who are yet to recieved a fandom name.
Tracklist-
888 • Devil Town • Sweet Tooth • Boys Will be Bugs
888 M/V
The video was mostly in a monochrome tone, and it gained color by the end. Numbers appeared from time to time on the screen, especially the number 8. It had very lonely vibes but by the end it felt more like a good type of loneliness.
Era Styling
There wasn't anything new in the styling. He kept his straight blonde hair and comfy clothes. The makeup was very simple, he still hid his freckles.
Era Details
Almost no promotion again on God Royal Entertainment
He got a new guitar tho!! It has a lot of cute stickers he gets from the albums he buys so now everyone knows which groups he stans
He also didn't do many lives this era for no reason other than he was lazy akfjskf
But he did try to get into as much stuff as possible so he could promote his song
His new guitar went viral bc "look a multifandon idol isn't that cool" but not many ppl actually checked his music out so :/
He got to record a fan chant guide but the company decided not to post it for whatever reason
And once again, his fandom has no name so he keeps calling them babies or any pet names he can think of or just... guys skfjfk
The Zona $ul boys did cover a version in Portuguese of 888 so this got him some attention
Even tho it's still pretty small, his fandom grew a lot this comeback

I feel like showing off my vinyl collection, feel free to show me yours!
I'm an avid 70s/80s/90s collector, and deeply wish I could've been alive for all of that, most of my vinyls are 70s/80s, some older, some newer. Some are 100% vintage, others are newly made/released. My dad (who brought me up on literally everything 70s and 80s) got me a record player for Christmas and helped me start my collection, since then it's grown rapidly.
First I must show off my RDR2 vinyls, with Marty Robbins' "Gunfighter Ballads", his songs are perfect to listen to while playing RDR2, "Big Iron" being one of my favorites.
Dad got me all 3 of my Queen albums for Christmas, as he knows that Queen is perhaps my favorite band of all time, I've been trying to find vintage vinyls of their albums rather than the newly remade ones, haven't had much luck yet but we will get there. :)
Did I mention that my dad and I are diehard Gordon Lightfoot fans? "Summertime Dream" and "Sundown" are perhaps my favorite albums. Lightfoot's song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" holds a special place in my heart. While the song is based off of a true story, about the tragic sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior, this song has a deeper connection with me. My dad, my Uncle Rob, and my Uncle Rodney, they loved this song so much, they would sit and listen to it on repeat for hours and hours mesmerized by the story that it told, along with Lightfoot's iconic voice, and the instruments itself. This was their group song essentially. Unfortunately, on July 25, 2019 (a year ago this coming Saturday), my Uncle Rodney lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), he was only 49 years old, a year younger than my dad. It was something we would never expect happen to any of us, let alone him. Uncle Rodney went out of his way for everyone, he'd help everyone whenever he could and would never ask for or expect anything in return. He put his family first, he loved and cared for his kids the best he could, he worked his ass off hand crafting furniture out of cedar wood, and adding onto his home and designing it just the way a true country boy could ever want it, he was dedicated to his job, his family, and his friends. Hard to believe it will be a whole year this weekend, not a day goes by where I don't think about him, he was like a second dad to me, and I greatly wished that I'd had more time with him, especially hugs, he gave the best hugs.
However he'd want me to carry on and continue to be happy, and it was hard the first few months after he passed, I went into a depression spell, and starting coming out of it in February, and then I met the man who is now my boyfriend. I don't know if it was just coincidence, or if Uncle Rodney had a hand in all of it, but I shit you not, my boyfriend reminds me so much of him, including my dad. My family absolutely loves him and has taken him in already, and I've never been this happy. But alas, this isn't supposed to be my life's story, but some of these records mean so much to me, and Lightfoot's records will forever hold a special place in my heart, for the very sole reason you just read about.
Moving on! These are some great records I found on a clearance rack at a record store, all under $5 a piece! My grandpa is a huge John Denver fan, so he very much appreciates it when he stops by our house and hears me blasting that album from my room haha. My boyfriend loves The Oak Ridge Boys, and let me tell you, he can sing the oom poppa mow mows in the song "Elvira" perfectly, and I melt everytime haha. Rosanne Cash, her music gets played constantly whenever we are having a party at my Uncle Rob's house, so when I hear her voice, it makes me want to go down there and have a great time. The Outlaws, I only recently discovered them but I really enjoy this album in particular, "You Are the Show" is perhaps my favorite song on the album, I sing this one a lot no matter how terrible I may be at it, I can't help it lol.
Ah yes, more classics. My dad really enjoys when I decide to blast my CCR album (a birthday present from my boyfriend). "Fortunate Son" is probably my dad's favorite CCR song, and it is definitely his theme song. Boston and Molly Hatchet are two of my other favorites for sure, including Chicago, it has been awhile since I listened to them, but they sure are fun.
Oh these three here I love talking about. I mean, who doesn't love Footloose and Dirty Dancing? The Footloose record is vintage, the Dirty Dancing one is a newly released version, but I ended up buying it anyways as the record itself is that purple color of awesomeness. The Quiet Riot one I found at an antique store, my favorite album of theirs, and because it's a picture vinyl, I had to have it. It looks kickass watching it on the record player.
Any Fleetwood Mac fans? My witchy sisters, this is our music. I can actually sing Stevie Nicks pretty decently, my boyfriend absolutely loves it when I do. "Tango in the Night" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac album, I listen to this record religiously. Once I listened to it on repeat for about 3 days straight, and my dad eventually had to tell me to switch to a different record because he was ready to hear some other great music 😂 The song "Twisted" which Stevie sang with Lindsey Buckingham, was part of the 1996 movie "Twister" with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. My favorite movie, and my favorite Stevie Nicks song, might I also mention that I'm a weather nut and also studying for a degree in meteorology? Yeah, I also chase tornadoes, hence why "Twister" is my favorite movie.
And last but not least, these two little guys. Tiësto is perhaps my favorite DJ of all time, his classic hits and even the new ones, always give me such a vibe that is so enjoyable. My favorite mix of his? "Silence" by Delerium with Sarah Maclachlan, this was one of Tiësto's "In Search of Sunrise" mixes, and I still get absolute chills hearing it.
Oh yes, I forgot to add, a bunch of the vintage vinyls I bought, I got at Guestroom Records in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma while I was there back in May. They have a giant clearance section with records under $5, and of course they have all the newly released music, and even full collection sets. My favorite part? They also have a beautiful kitty cat that lives at the store and he/she is such a lovely kitty. So if you're in OKC and wanna buy some vinyls? This is your place.
So that's all of my vinyls I have so far! I hope you enjoyed seeing my collection, and reading about why they mean so much to me, I hope I didn't bore you too much with them haha. Again, feel free to show me some of yours! Tell me why they mean so much to you! :)

2018 - semifinal 1
originally posted 5/13/20
Thoughts before watching Alright, we're heading into more familiar territory for me. I've heard the studio version of a number of the songs in the 2018 contest and I've liked a lot of them. I didn't watch this show live, so I don't know anything about the hosts or whatnot, and have only seen a couple of the live performances. I'll be watching the 2018-2014 shows through the German Eurovision website. They're available there with German commentary. I speak some German so this is a fun exercise for me lol. Azerbaijan Song is very... standard Swedish export. It's not bad and Aisel is an OK singer live. If I remember correctly, this was the tougher semi and this ended up falling through. Staging was weird - I liked it at first but there's an awful lot of running. Iceland A disappointment from Iceland. I like a lot of their less-popular entries but this is just boring. Ari is a strong vocalist, but my issue isn't with him so much as it is with the song, and with the underwhelming staging. Albania I'll get hate from the fandom for this, but I'm not crazy about it. Eugent's a good singer and he gets props from me for keeping his song in Albanian but it just doesn't click with me. Belgium This one's underrated. Not great but I feel like it doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. Sennek's got a great voice and a decent stage presence, and the song is actually pretty good. Staging killed this one IMO. I think using the main stage could have saved this - seeing Sennek being serious and as elegant as she could be in that dress, against the backdrop of the fans, was a little jarring. Czechia I need to establish first that I LOVE this song. I listen to the studio version all the time. And I love Mikolas as a performer and I know that he'd been injured and that the staging was adapted. But it's just not as fun live! Once Mikolas starts moving he really is fun to watch and gets everyone excited but I feel like too much of the performance was him standing there. I know Czechia did the best they could trying to change the staging in such a short time (he literally got injured at the jury rehearsal) but idk I feel like he could have moved around a little more. The fun of this song isn't in the vocals or the lyrics it's in the VIBE, the fun you have while singing or listening. I love dancing to this song and making a fool of myself while doing it and it's a shame that Czechia wasn't able to show that off this performance. Lithuania This was good, fight me! Staged really well and an absolutely beautiful song. My only problem with this performance is that Ieva seemed to move between vocal quality very awkwardly, sometimes sounding timid, sometimes not holding back, sometimes really pushing her sound into the back of her throat. Israel Oh, Netta. I want to start by saying that that staging was an EYESORE. I'm not going to make a judgement on whether it was cultural appropriation, because I'm white and it's not my place, but it sure was not the best to look at. For the most part, I like songs and stage performances I can take seriously, and this just wasn't it. I think Netta's a good singer and Toy is an alright song, and I found the use of a loop machine actually really clever (but I'm not sure if she actually used it... maybe her backup singers were doing the sounds? I feel like that somehow breaks the rules about recorded vocals). It simply isn't for me. Belarus Seriously disappointed by this one. Belarus usually does an OK job with staging but this just sucked. As I understand the song underwent a pretty significant revamp that hurt its chances badly. The chorus is nice to listen to, though, and I wish Alekseev had allowed himself to belt more instead of trying to be tender. Tender is OK sometimes, but didn't work for this song. Estonia This was so fucking creative. It's definitely different, a standout, and it was staged really well. Estonia did a great job with what they had (that is, a less-than-conducive stage design). The dress effect was really cool
and I don't think I've seen anything like it. Moldova's 2013 entry comes close but that dress was cool in a different way. The musical style isn't my favorite to see in Eurovision (and I just generally don't like opera) but Elina has an amazing voice and the song was generally well put together so I think it worked. Bulgaria This is another one I listen to a lot - probably one of my favorites of the year. It's a really well composed song with good live vocalists and a pretty good stage performance too. Great song, didn't trainwreck live. What more can you ask for? Macedonia I enjoyed this one. The singer has a great voice and it was staged pretty well all things considered. The song did feel like it was two songs stitched together - the verses one and everything else another - and that outfit really did suck, but I actually don't hate it. Croatia Franka is really fun to watch. She has a lot of presence, staging was decent, song was good. I love me a good triple meter. Her voice isn't my favorite, though. All in all I don't dislike this one, definitely a solid entry for Croatia. Austria Pretty good. Cesar has a very pleasant voice and the song is fun. Staging could have been done a lot better. Don't hate it. Not crazy about it but definitely one of the better entries of the night, I think. Greece I can't figure out exactly what I dislike about it. The song is pretty, the live vocals are okay, and the staging is okay, but something about this doesn't vibe with me and leaves my impression of the song solidly mediocre. I guess I feel like Yianni's vocals weren't right for the song? Finland I like it! Saara has one of my favorite voices so far and the song is good. I don't have strong feelings on the staging. Armenia Kinda underwhelming, but it's a nice song and I really like the staging design. Switzerland Can't believe this didn't qualify! Strong stage presence from Corinne and overall a really great song. The fire sparkler was a nice touch although it did fuck up the lighting, I think? Ireland Another of my favorites. A very sweet song that's genuinely just nice to listen to. Definitely the best entry from Ireland in a while. Cyprus So, I hadn't actually heard the original version of the song before now, only covers. It's alright. Definitely a really strong performance and a fun song to listen to, even if Eleni's live vocals leave something to be desired. My personal qualifiers Bulgaria Ireland Switzerland Finland Lithuania Czechia Cyprus Belgium Austria Estonia Miscellaneous thoughts Filomena is really funny in the green room! I like her a lot. Mikolas rapping was also priceless. Love the guy. I was on my way out of the Eurovision fandom in 2018, but I feel like a lot of people said this was the hell semi? I don't agree. Like, I know the top two of the whole contest were in this semi but overall I was really disappointed by the songs and performances. In my opinion this is only the hell semi in that a lot of the songs were so solidly mediocre that it was really just a toss-up to which ones would get through.

I see your "Murdoc cringes so hard at 60s vampire Stu" and I raise you, "Murdoc was a 60s fanboy in the 80s (EIGHTIES), never shuts up about how he was born in '66, and is based on Keith Richards." 60s Stu with his novelty shirts is Murdoc's wet dream. Murdoc is dying to live in his fantasy version of 1960s Britain where he gets to wear bell bottom jeans with heels. In fact, I'd argue that Stu hates this weird straggler who never shuts up about his ahistorical fantasy of playing in a blues rock band, but he's the only one who doesn't make fun of him when he pulls up with his Jaguar MkII, so he puts up with it
Anonymous asked: Also, Jaguar MkII is the car of working class villains in 1960s bank heist films and I think that works perfectly with the vampire image and Stu begrudgingly appreciates that Murdoc's the only one who clocks it from all of his 60s VHS films. Cue dodgy, slapstick comedy where Murdoc finds out that Stu is a vampire because he keeps dropping really vague 60s hints Hannibal-style that only Murdoc picks up on because his obsessions work in the absolute worst way. Stu still keeps his synth keyboards because he got turned at 19 in a pre-D-Day moment and he's fascinated with technology as a guy who basically stopped growing in 1959. So, it's just Murdoc being endlessly irritated by how fascinated Stu is with flip phones and synths ("Murdoc, do I have to pay money to subscribe to a YouTuber? It's asking for my password. Why's it asking for my password?") while Stu has to take a long breath through his nose any time Murdoc says something like, "Rock 'n' roll basically stopped the Vietnam War" because he's already been down this road and nothing's going to budge whatever Murdoc's decided to make a part of his fantasy that day
Alright, sign me up for front-row seats, I'm officially putting in my bid. You've honestly hooked me, I'm very into this dynamic. My weakness in an AU isn't any supernatural element but the mundane, hyper-specific details that place them in like, a clearly defined real-world cultural timeline. From the Jaguar Mkll pull alone I'm totally outclassed in the understanding of British 60's pop-culture ephemera, and that's a good thing; as someone who knows so little about so few things, I really appreciate when someone clearly knows their onions, and the refs here are absolutely bringing some colour to the setup & it feels really good and correct. Love the clash of the titans here, wherein the titans are two horrible little men who've individually refused to grow into middle-age and be socially appropriate. (That's just their vibe in any iteration.)
I would kill to see the two of them together in Rick Black's Record Shack in 1997 Soho, both wearing a mixture of 60's/70's long-collared patterned shirts tucked into bell bottoms or corduroys, potentially a matching waistcoat for Stu, potentially a leather jacket for Murdoc, boat-length wingtips on Stu, heels bordering 4 inches on Murdoc, 80's teased out new wave hair on Stu & a greasy 80's/90's mullet on Murdoc. They're drawing attention arguing too heatedly over their very disparate music choices, neither of which are chart-relevant in 1997.
Anyway, very good images, I don't have much to add but I'm a fan.

Okay now that I've calmed down enough to talk about it- this project was A JOURNEY. I've never done anything like this before, I was doing pretty much everything here for the first time and going in blind.
I only have one item with a microphone- my trusty old wired earphones. They're in-ear, so that was fun (aka terrible. Bandlab made the strange decision for you to actually hear what you're recording live).
I also had an awful cold for a good portion of the recording lol
I learned a few things about recording through this project:
Standing up is the most comfortable way to record
Either my microphone is shit or I don't know how close/far to hold it while recording- some of the main vocals sound crunchy for that reason
You can actually fix the problem posed by point 2 by simply placing a tissue over your mic while recording- and I just realized it while recording the last 3 backing vocals :pain:
You have to sing LOUD. Which normally isn't a problem for me, but I do live with other people and recorded this at home which felt awkward AF
There is apparently a range you sound best at. This song is lower than my range, but it sounds better than I expected considering. (the backing vocals worked far better in my range tho)
Taehyun was onto something when he said they recorded their version of Tinnitus shirtless. I was initially recording in pajamas, kinda slouchy and happened to be in front of a mirror, and the vibe just wasn't it. That got fixed by a costume & hair change though :P
What is audio editing. WHY IS IT SO HARD. wtf
Having a sped up version around highlights where things aren't quite right, making changes faster and easier (bonus: it makes you feel like you're in a tiktok edit)
Backing vocals are fun and awesome and complete a song like nothing else. Also they're the best to play around with (I added a couple of my own for additional flavor)
Major shoutout to the amazing people who extracted the background music
Another major shoutout to the amazing person who extracted the hidden vocals of the Korean version- I would have never been able to guess the backing vocals and replicate them on my own
Music production and mixing is really hard. It takes training, skill and practice- honestly, I appreciate everyone who does it a lot more now
Okay, I'm done for now. Bye for real y'all, see you later
The blursed cover is finally up B)

Lolol I had st first thought maybe you were busy so I didn't send right away but then it was getting long with time so I tried once, then twice and another until I gave up thinking either the app doesn't like me or maybe I annoyed you djajdjajdsj BUT you made that post and I gasped. Quickly sent an ask which you got so yay!! *happy dances* i must ask how are you doing!? I hope well, I see you made another sideblog hehe. I support
Now onto our beans!! First monsta x, ahhhh just, perfection. Literally monsta x always delivers with perfect style and music. Legit if you want some mafia themes with some sxhmexy spice then monsta x is for you lol. I'm a bit sad to shownu didn't join the promos *sigh* but i understand! Hyungwon and jooheon did a great job covering his part (which I was surprised to hear their vocals because usually in my experience they would either lip sing to the backing track or leave the spot empty for the missing member so to hear them sing was a surprise!) No wins sadly but its alright, the boys did amazing nonetheless and am proud of them! Fjakdjak me with secrets as well. I'm bopping and am thinking 'wait, why do I understand what they are singing' then I noticed it was in English as well haha. Gambler is on repeat alot I just cannot get enough of it
Now onto exo, the kings. The legends, the boys are back *insert the boys are back from hsm3* this comeback is everything. I legit cannot say anything bad about the title track nor bsides, they are all great and fun to listen to! No skips, the fact they even worked on it to make it like a gift for the fans. I'm going to cry ndkajdja. CAN WE TALK ABOUT LAY VEING FULLY HERE LIKE !?!? HELLO MISTER LAY, WELCOME BACK! I legit thought this would be like tempo but worse because while news was saying a 'full' exo comeback, no news for lay for a while and while I was happy to see his teasers (forever am salty we only have one album of lay at all which is the jewel case version. I understand things might be tricky but still ya know?) I was fishy lol. I had no trust with sm but to our surprise we hear lay more properly. Sure he could have more lines but he isn't pulling an nct winwin so I'm not complaining!! I will take this over tempo lol. Apparently they shot the mv during minseok and his bday so that made me extra soft, exo won over butter so I'm happy dancing. As they should, as they should. Records were broken so all I can say is stan exo for a better life I guess.
Now seventeen!! Its finally comeback time so thoughts on the comeback? Ngl I at first didn't bop to ready to love, I feel bad because always their comebacks were ones I always enjoyed and liked right away but yet, this time around I watched the mv and listened to the song and was sitting there confused like ??? That was all, I felt a bit like there was something missing within the song but I couldn't tell what and it was bugging me for a week njdjajd. However, I had the song on repeat and it grew on me!! Which is very much ok I think, while I did feel bad, im human and we all have different tastes and not everyone will like title tracks! The chorus is super catchy and the guitar? I think it is the guitar lol, that you hear is fantastic. I still think the song is missing something but this might be just me being nit picky. It is a huge summer bop, very much fitting for seventeen.
Ok that is all for me, I shall be going! Let us hope this also sends or else I am fish slapping my phone lol
I did... for pentagon... lord help me 🙌 good thing they're not releasing anything anytime soon so i can focus on my OTHER sideblogs fuihdiufhif
yeahhh it's a pity he couldn't join promotions :(( but anything for his health and wellbeing (but maybe they could have let him do the naiver now lives and fan signs but 🤷🏻♀️) it was so cute seeing him go to the concept store thingy and getting his albums and photo cards and visiting his boys during music shows pls he's so endearing i lov him!! I feel bad they couldn't even get one win with gambler bc it's sooooo good omg it's really one of the best title track releases this half year but since music show wins don't care about quality but only quantity...yeah SAD but I it's nice seeing jooheon so happy with his baby song I hope he's super proud of the masterpiece he's made!
EXO. SEXTUPLE MILLION SELLER EXO. They did THAT! without promotions whatsoever and without stepping a foot inside any music shows!! sciuhsdicudfvb legends only 💅🏼 same! i'm glad we could hear yixing in all the songs omg sm could have made it worse so i'll take what i can get and i'll cherish it! and now we've got THE KYUNGSOO making his solo debut!!!! aaahhhhh I can't wait to listen to all his songs omg i bet they're all so nice and good 🤧 also apparently he filmed his mv back in his hometown and with kids and stuff so yeah PREPARE THE PAPER TISSUES!!
ONTO SEVENTEEN NOW.
WELL. I don't really vibe with this comeback tbh idk RTL sounded good in the teasers but then the mv dropped and the album dropped and I- idk i wasn't feeling it (not gonna lie and say i haven't been singing the "runaway" part on repeat in my head FOR DAYS) but idk it doesn't feel like a seventeen song if that makes sense??? as for the rest of the album...I only like Anyone tbh...I feel bad for not vining with the rest but as you said we're human so all we have to do is wait for the next comeback! not gonna talk about the mv bc it was pretty meh for my taste tbh (coming from home; run... now they give me super saturated images, no story and a rain scene that makes it impossible to even see the members...) but yeah also it's so sad all that's happened during this comeback period... first minghao not being able to participate on the choreo, then the covid and quarantine thing not allowing them to step out of their rooms for ten day right after they had their first offline fansign with carats and now coups falling and injuring himself and not being able to end promotions on a high note... this comeback feels kind of cursed :(( but after all they seem happy so that's what really matters! (I'm living for seungkwan's ending fairy moments tbh lmaooo)
That's it for today! sorry for taking so long to answer fiuhfguyfhn i'll be fast next time I promise! I hope you're good! 🥰💕💖
