The responses I see to changing the race of a fictional character feel so disingenuous to me at times because why is the first response, for the large part of what I see, wanting to make a character of color in the same media white? Ignoring how there are many white fictional characters in media to choose from, you seek to take away one of the few that are poc? Make it make sense to me because it doesn't.
#this goes for a lot of fandoms too#like halle playing ariel does not erase the og ariel (that never was the point) as she still exist and they can coexist#but the same cannot be said for if you make tiana yte bc that not only changes her entire story & the real life person she was based off of#but also takes away a huge form of representation to black and brown people#literally fancast set people off but so what? prior to my last point a desi rapunzel and the og can still coexist (expand your imagination)#same thing goes for annabeth you can prefer the og version without hating on the show version or other fancast of hers that exist#pls dni if you can't have a collected conversation on this topic#sure you can be upset over the casting not being as accurate as you'd like but don't act ignorant and try to erase existing poc characters#when there are so little to begin with#and what does changing their race do to their character? they are still the same#or is hard to connect with them now that they are a poc?
