Being the new girl was the worst. New town, new people, same drama. Y/N had decided that, this time, she would keep to herself. She was sure that her parents would just pick up and move her again before the school year ended. She was sick and tired of moving, but there wasn't much that a sixteen year old girl could do.
“The town with pep? Is this town serious?” Y/N scoffed as they passed the sign. Her parents had already moved their furniture and important boxes, so they only had a few more boxes to bring in and unpack.
“Could you, maybe, try to be happy?” Her father scoffed.
Her voice dripped with sarcasm, “Oh my god, this town must be absolutely amazing.”
“Y/N, please, behave. We will be in this town for a while, get accustomed.” Her mother pleaded.
Y/N rolled her eyes, “Like I haven't heard that before.
...
The first day of school was always strange for Y/N. Maybe, she was just used to being the new girl, but it was never as awful as everyone made it out to be. Luckily, there was a murder over the summer, so all of the students were talking about that, instead of the new student.
As Y/N was eating her lunch alone, she was drawn to a table that was filled with laughter. A raven-haired girl caught her eye. The girl was stunning. She was wearing a burgundy top with a black pencil skirt. Pearls hung elegantly around her neck. She wasn’t from this town, Y/N knew that much. The only other person who dressed remotely similar, was the twin sister of the boy who was killed.
The raven-haired girl kept glancing at Y/N, admiring her from afar. She knew what is was like to be the new girl. She got up and sat at the table Y/N was occupying, “Hi. I’m Veronica Lodge.” She jutted out her hand towards Y/N.
Taking Veronica’s hand in her own, Y/N smiled, “Y/N Y/L/N.”
“Where are you coming from?” Veronica asked.
“Oregon.” Y/N sighed, “New York, Washington, Texas. Literally everywhere. I don't stay in one place too long.”
“Military family?”
“Nope. Just parents who don’t like to stick to a job.” Y/N scoffed, “Or a budget, for that matter.”
“That’s rough.” Veronica placed her hand over Y/N’s.
A sense of relief took over Y/N, as if Veronica was the ocean, washing away all her worries. As cliché as it was, it was what she felt.
“Well, while you are in Riverdale, friends?”
“Sure.” Y/N knew she had promised herself that she would keep to herself, but something about Veronica felt different.
...
Y/N and Veronica walked through the hallway together, heading towards their first class. Veronica Stopped walking when she got to Betty’s locker, “Y/N, this is Betty Cooper. A really good friend of mine.”
“Hi, Betty.” Y/N awkwardly smiled.
“Hey.” Her blonde ponytail swayed behind her head.
The three girls continued down the hallway, side by side.
...
Four weeks later, Veronica had managed to get Y/N to be friends with Betty, Archie, Jughead, Kevin, and even Josie.
Y/N enjoyed their company, but she would much rather be spending her time alone with Veronica.
As the weeks had progressed, so did her feelings for Ronnie. Though, she was unaware that Veronica was starting feeling the same way.
The two longed for each other in secret, wishing the other would make a move first.
“Hey, Y/N!” Veronica called for her friend.
Turning around, Y/N smiled widely as Veronica glided towards her, “Hi, V.”
Veronica linked her arm through Y/N’s and pulled her along with her down the hallway, “So, I am going clubbing tonight and would like you to accompany me. Before you say no, I get that you are shy and hate club atmosphere, but I could come to your house beforehand and do your makeup. What do you say?”
Surprising both herself and Veronica, Y/N laughed, “Let’s do it.”
...
Later that night, Veronica was standing in front of Y/N dusting highlighter on her cheeks, “You know, you are absolutely beautiful. I mean, you just look good.” Her eyes flickered towards Y/N lips, “I just think you're wonderful.”
Y/N stood up, her face mere inches away from Veronica. Without a second thought, Y/N closed the space in between them, kissing Veronica. After a few minutes, they pulled apart.
“Wow.” Veronica sighed, a smile appeared on her face.
“Wow.” Y/N mimicked.
