actually, might add an AU where i change the events of phantom menace slightly so that maul still kills qui-gon, but he never fights obi-wan (maybe qui-gon told obi-wan to leave naboo with anakin to get him to safety? idk, it's an AU so the details aren't hugely important tbh) which, in the big scheme of things, doesn't change much except maul would still be allied with palps and carrying out his orders and so on

#idk how things would work with dooku (and grievous) if maul hadn't been presumed dead in TPM #maybe they could have a mini dark council (grievous probably wouldn't be officially included but he might be present still)#i also honestly don't think it would be???? completely out of the question for palps to have two apprentices at the same time??#like from sheev's point of view he's obviously planning on them both dying at some point because his plan was always to have vader #as his “true” apprentice anyway #which is sort of related to why plagueis allowed sheev to take on maul as his apprentice. he was a tool not a real “apprentice” and thus #the rule of two wasn't broken so like... idk the same mentality could apply in this AU #(not that i think sheev genuinely cared about the rule of two... he introduced so much of the sith ideology into the empire anyway that #even if he upheld the rule of two it wouldn't matter because there as so much infighting in the empire between the non force sensitives)#not to mention the fucking inquisitors................... LIKE I REALLY DON'T THINK PALPS CARED or gave a shit about the ideologies of the #sith and empire at all.... he was just in it for himself and the ideologies served only as tools to further himself
