my dad and i have been really into watching women's basketball together the last few months and so i follow all the accounts on instagram and stuff and something that will never cease to piss me off is all the men who have probably never played a sport in their entire life commenting under every single video "i NEVER watch ANYTHING related to women's sports EXCEPT for caitlin clark!" as if it's a compliment that they've never branched out from only ever watching the same mediocre men's team they've developed a strange, cult-like affection toward for probably double my life span, as if every single woman will fall down in awe to their apparently very brave admission that women are actually talented and competent, which because THEY THEMSELVES didn't realize it until watching caitlin clark must mean it wasn't true beforehand. as if they themselves in all their self importance are the only possible reason that a women's sport should be relevant.
