it’s unbearable to talk about even basic political matters with one of my brothers (the other one is a communist, so). I asked whether the current taiwanese gov were more liberal or conservative and he said it was less right wing so I said oh so liberal then. and he goes on saying no no it’s democratic they’re pro-lgbt they’re leftist and I was like loads of liberals are pro-lgbt. and then I looked it up and it turns out they’re centrist/centre left and he says no they’re much more liberal than that they’re liberals. and he was basically hush shouting at me at this point saying he knows what a liberal is they’re liberal. and I was like that’s what I was literally saying before……….. then he said the chinese gov are fascists and even my mum had to step in then and say she wouldn’t quite call it fascist 😭

what is up with this brand of crazy anti-chinese sentiment lol. talking like a robot like ‘no no they’re democratic you know they vote you know people can vote unlike china in china it’s fascist’ you can’t even break in to disagree. I was about to say there’s various different political elements in the CCP some of which are more socialist, some more neoliberal but I was like well. better not. and people pretend it’s my communist brother you can’t have a reasonable political conversation with hdjdjjd
