Punks who want to style hair into mohawks and spikes:

There's so many things to use that isn't hairspray. For a look done with hairspray, you can easily use up a full can, depending on your hair texture, volume and length, and it doesn't even have to work.

You can use sugar water, beer, cola, clear soap or a PVA glue from the hardware store, and if you're buying, then the best stuff is got2be hair glue. This stuff varies in quality, strength, washability and wasp attraction, so watch out.

Ask someone to do it for you, if it's the first time for you or if you don't have the arm strength to hold em up and tease the shit out of your hair. If you have punk friends who have experience, ask them to help you, if they don't have experience, ask them anyway - it'll look stupid but who gives a shit, it's so much fun.

If you don't have punk friends, turn your other friends punk, or ask a punk who isn't your friend. At festivals and concerts, I see many people who sit and have someone to fuck their hair up for even an hour at a time, they will love to help if you just go and ask.
