Some TGWDLM Headcanons
Alright guys, now let me get this straight, I’m not, and I love what the Langs (and also Jon and Lauren) did with Emma and Paul in tgwdlm. Their chemistry was just awesome and always interesting to watch as the two tried to stop the end of the world, but what if it was gay?
My mlm Headcanon!!
Emma would be a guy named Emmett, who is still stuck working at this coffee shop full of theater girls. He doesn’t get along with them because they just assumed that because he was gay, he’d be all femme and they all wanted to make him their gbf, so naturally he’s all like “uhh, no?” so things are kind of tense at Beanie’s.
Emmett tells Paul about his treatment from the other Baristas while he is complaining about his job towards the beginning at Beanie’s.
He was absolutely still in Brigadoon in highschool, and he absolutely fucking killed it, except this time he was Frank instead of Bonnie Jean.
When Ted talks to Paul about the “Latte Hotte”, he knows that Ted’s definitely talking about a girl and not Emmett, so Paul blatantly denies that being his motivation instead of half heartedly denying it.
When Paul is like, “The.. latte hotte” later, its basically just his awkward way of confessing to his crush on Emmett. Ted and the others are like ‘oh’ for a minute because they didn’t know that Paul was into men, but they quickly come back to their senses and Ted, being the office asshole stil says “you grabbed the wrong one! you grabbed the one who doesn’t sing when I tip him!” with no mention of his gender being apart of the problem.
Ted absolutely still decides to flirt with the crabby barista later whether he’s actually into dudes or not. He’s an asshole and he’s bored, ok?
(Also I like to think Paul is canonly bisexual in general because in “what do you want, Paul?” he uses the phrase “partner” rather then wife when referencing his very normal desires. Only us bisexuals will use wording like that usually)
At the end they still change his name to Kelly, and he still complains, although he can’t think of anything similar to Emmett.
My wlw headcanon!!
Paul’s name is Paulina, and she is a butch lesbian who still wears nice suits to work all the time. Her nickname is Lina
“What do you want, Paul?” is still what that song is because Mr. Davidson always calls her Paul for some reason. He still thinks she’s a boy, the nutter.
Everyone at the office knows she’s a lesbian, which is why Ted accuses her rightly of going to Beanie’s because of the “Latte Hotte”. She still shakily denies it.
When she brings up the “Latte Hotte” later, she’s less worried about Ted’s reaction, and more worried about Emma’s. She has no clue if Emma even likes girls or if she even approves of gay people. Emma’s a basically reacts the same as last time, and she’s a bit confused, but she dismisses it quickly. Lina learns that Emma is not homophobic so that’s helpful.
Later, when they’re walking through the alleys, when Lina basically asked Emma out on a date, she adds “well, if you like girls, oh and me.” onto the end of it, thinking she made a colossal fuck up. Emma’s just like “yeah, I’d like that, and you that is.”
Anything that I did not explicitly change stays the same, and if there’s anything else I should change on account of it not making sense with the genderswap, just add it on to the post or reply and let me know!
