FF7 - Dust - Prologue

In the end, it was all for nothing. Sephiroth had succeeded in his destruction of everything, leaving Gaia a decimated mess in which nothing existed in a normal state any longer. Mutations seemed to take over the Planet. She was a ruined amalgamation of simply /mess/. Some parts of the Planet seemed to wither away, consumed by a darkness that was both tangible and not, whilst others flourished in a way that was all encompassing, plants growing at such an alarming rate that it was easy to be dragged in and reduced to nothing more than nutrients. Animals changed in ways that defied all known sciences, fish growing wings, birds developing gills. The state of balance was lost and the hierarchy was overthrown in favor of a free for all, wildlife devouring wildlife with no regard for natural order.

I got a clue where they're going / They want a break / They want a break

It was as if rules no longer pertained to anything at all, breaking free of the mold the Planet had seemingly set in stone, only to see that very stone wither away like it were nothing in the first place. Every living thing had seemingly decided that they wanted a freedom they initially had no way of achieving, and thus, it was like Chaos had become the new normal.

All the lucky ones kept fucking it up

Sephiroth's plan worked, but only to a certain extent. Things didn't quite end up the way he wanted them to and it resulted in the Chaos Gaia was now forced into. The Planet would attempt to heal Herself. Time flowed in no single direction and thus the destruction was witnessed many times, attempts to halt it only resulting in failure, and once again, Chaos.

Threatened our lives, but it wasn't enough / Didn't want to sit down, couldn't listen to 'no'

He was unstoppable in his pursuit of a goal that was impossible from the start. Godhood didn't exist. You could reach for the stars all you wanted, but the only thing that would come from it was a burning brightness that left you scarred and blinded. Sephiroth had already ascended from humanity, but he made them suffer in his attempts to become something more, something greater. My voice was loud, the loudest of everyone who attempted to force him to listen, but nothing came of it. Nothing was strong enough to beat a stubborness fit for someone who believed their worth was beyond that of any other living being.

Body, so everybody went out of control / Thrashing in platinum dust

There were human survivors, of course. Even against someone akin to a mad king, humanity had its own level of stubborness that aided in their never ending battle with the inevitability known as extinction. To fight against inevitability was to drive yourself insane due to the sheer impossibility of ever winning against something that was both an unstoppable force and an immovable object, as abstract and paradoxical as it was. In a Chaos ruled Planet, there was nothing left to do but join in on the disorder. Minds would break, and everything fell away to ruin.

Damage that can't be undone / Tragic falling weapons / They want a break

Regardless of the attempts the Planet made to bring order back to Gaia, nothing worked. It was like this had been the true plan all along, hidden away from the eyes of the Planet Herself, known only by the greater Universe who found humanish's pleasure in watching the destruction of something it could easily create another of. In a useless attempt to protect Herself, the Planet spawned Weapons that were far greater than the ones initially made to fight against Jenova all those years, decades, centuries? ago. Their arrival simply added to the Chaos as it brought the Planet closer to Her final demise, some even developing a level of sentience that resulted in the internalized destruction of Themselves as they came to the conclusion that 'winning' was nothing but a delusional idea.

Everybody went to outer space / The second that the sun exploded

Everything came to a peak. Destruction grew to catastrophic level and the Universe watched as it wrapped its hand around the sun itself squeezed. There was little to no time to process the change. The sun exploded and everything reliant or it's existence was snuffed out. Those who were only human were the first to go, gone in a flash so quick, it was like their existence had been nothing but an illusion the whole time. Those slightly less human, infused with cells that should have never been mixed into the DNA of humanity, lasted just a bit longer. Long enough to watch the sky turn black and then red. Long enough to see the rest of the Planet be engulfed in a five that was so hot, it was like there was no sensation of all. Humanity ceased to be, returning to wherever it came from in the first place.

I'm the only fool that stayed

In the end, the Universe played a cruel trick on me. It left me alive, or at least, in a state of existence so utterly painful and simultaneously painless, there was no way I could be dead, though living wasn't quite the term that could be used to describe the plane of existence I was on. During this time, I could hear the Universe laugh, so proud of Itself for the terror and ruin It had caused, toying around with the Planet like She was nothing more than just a plaything, and Her inhabitants simply pawns in a game of make believe, like the Universe was a child constantly on the edge of boredom, finding new ways to entertain itself. Gaia was gone, eradicated in a way that no miracle could bring Her back, and that had been the Universe's plan all along.

Earth is so strange. Similar, but utterly different. Nothing is the same, but occasionally, I see something in the corner of my eye that reminds me of a past I should no longer be able to remember. Things feel deceptively peaceful here, even if Earth has its own brand of terrors. However, there's no pull from the Planet. She's gone, and Earth doesn't even come close to the overwhelming entity She used to be. I can feel my memories slip occasionally, and it's almost more terrifying than having witnessed the destruction of an entire timeline. So, I write it down, to remind myself that I'm not insane. I see people I recognize who look at me like I'm familiar to them as well, but they continue walking like I'm nothing but a stranger, and here on Earth, that's exactly what I am. But still, I keep watch over them just because I can. Because it's my job now. The Universe has a twisted sense of humor, because the Demi-Human who strived toward Godhood was reduced to a librarian with too much time as his hands, and the human who strived for peace of normalcy was given a power he in no way wanted. Cloud Strife ceased to exist in the way that people knew him when the Planet died, but not everything about him was erased. Instead, the Universe made him a Guardian. The Universe made me a Guardian. And I'll keep them all safe this time.

From reading your theories it got me thinking about MoM's fixation w/Kingdom Hearts (as we've seen in the Yozora ending). If the world the characters currently live in is of the MoM's design. What if he made this story/reality FOR KH? I don't believe he made KH at all. Why would you long for something you made. Chi/Union was originally told as a fairy like tale to Kairi. Even if it was a history lesson it was still told in a way anyone would think it was a made up story. That's kind of a theme-

2 in KH overall when you think about. Things, places and people that are important, special and real are initially presented or accepted as unreal (age of fairy tales. Nobodies. Data worlds/people Ect). The Keyblade Worldline reality could have been created by MoM to get to Kingdom Hearts. That mysterious entity/realm that everyone wants but no one actually really knows fully about. I don't know if it was here or elsewhere but there are theories of MoM wanting to find a way to defeat these-

3 dark inhuman entities he referenced in Union. The way he chose was to create his own story filled w/good vs evil to, as you've stated, find wisdom and understanding of the heart. The one thing needed to open KH and combat those unknown entities. It might be why Y!Xehanort decided his destined actions were nessecary after the MoM revealed to him whatever he did. MoM needs to weed out the weak from the strong. To find someone who can be a 'King' of hearts. Unlike Xehanort who wanted to open-

5 KH himself. MoM needs a champion to do it for him. I think that's where Sora and Yozora come into play. What if Yozora comes from a reality that KH3's reality was loosely based off of. Only the entities are already there and there are no Keyblades. The MoM is using the KH reality to create the nessecary avenues to combat this gradual darkness in Yozora's reality (which does seem quite darker). It's the testing ground to see what kind of reality is most compatible for summoning KH. What kind-

6 person can do it. Sora and Yozora might be the only qualified options MoM has found. Both are a existence that's considered fictional yet real. Sora thought Yozora was a game character and I wouldn't be surprised if Yozora thought the same about Sora. Sora came from a 'fairy tail' reality while Yozora came from a 'reality based on fantasy' reality. Now both are existing on the same plane. Both of them are having weird thoughts if anything is real. These 2 might have always had a understanding-

7 there's something not quite right about what they're experiencing. It's possible Yozora is going to be hugely important to the whole next saga. Even if he doesn't appear too much. Verum Rex means True King after all. Both have been taken from their realms but they've also literally ascended to the heavens. If the MoM has no intention of having them compete for 'King' title of whatever. Then he might see them as lock and key to KH. One w/wisdom of the heart. One w/knowledge of royalty. -

8 Together they make up the nessecary ingredients to open up and use the true KH as intended. Which plays into his designs. But a lot of this is assuming Yozora is similar to Nomura's original idea of Noctis. Yozora and Sora might have this complicated soul brother thing going on due to reality shenanighans. MoM creating the current KH reality possibly pleased him when Sora emerged and proved he was different from the cycle. Sora defied him and was rewarded as Y!Xehanort said. Harsh Reality.

9 Oops sorry forget one thing I think I didn't explain well. In Conclusion. MoM is in another reality. Maybe he created the fairy tail that is Kingdom Hearts to teach others how to better fight the evil he was facing (they say you learned best as a child through stories). Yozora's reality is the place where the true KH can or should be summoned because that's where the dark entities originated. MoM took all knowledge of the Keys to KH reality to hopefully make a King of hearts: tada Sora!

Hmm okay anon. I actually think we are closer to the same page than I initially suspected. So you’re essentially saying this meta-experiment of “Kingdom Hearts” the game and potentially the fictitious “Verum Rex” game are creations of MoM intended on acquiring some supreme concept of the figurative heart. A sort of crafting of a vessel or ruler-- a king-- of this proverbial domain so that he can obtain it via proxy? 

Cause I sort of am thinking along those lines (which means I could have projected in that summation and I’m completely off). My big difference is I kinda look at this as an introspective piece by and for an author. You ask why would a creator covet his creation and I think there’s a lot of reasons why. Think of themes like escapism and the like. Creating your ideal in the midst of reality. An author struggles with never truly acquiring that which they created. It isn’t real. It’s fake. Within the narrative, Kingdom Hearts has been about making real that which isn’t and I think it’s through MoM that such a theme can be applied to our understanding of reality. A theme that essentially speaks of the importance of fantasy. 

MoM in my understanding strikes me as a jaded and desperate creator-- and/or perhaps bored and unimpressed. Creating a swashbuckling adventure with magic and heroes and fun only to find a persisting evil and darkness in the very foundation of his story. Something he would want to vanquish or maybe a force he’s resigned to defeat. It’s a never-ending cycle for every tale and for reality itself. How can his story defeat evil? I refer to my Figurative Language post because I think the manifestation of Darkness in human appearance is more the realization of truly evil people-- figurative monsters in human skin that we may experience in our very real life. Therefore there’s a bit of a child’s coping mechanism at play… but I also get “change reality with fiction” vibes from that. Can fantasy make a difference in his real world? So KH is an experiment toward that. Can the feelings, the essence, the heart of his Kingdom Hearts make a real difference? So he covets that quintessential heart. Sora as the protagonist and the proverbial king of the story is the key to that discovery. 

I steer clear of Yozora in this case because as far as I’m concerned he’s simply a tool being used to indicated the level of fictionality Sora resides with. That is until ReMind gives me some fresh knowledge. (there are too many theories flying around). But considering his relationship with Nomura there is a fine chance that he’s going to be a second strand of thought to this theme. He is the brother creation. A second experiment and/or attempt at attaining this ideal. And as you said, the two kings then must discover who will be MoM’s champion. 

KH is so uniquely poised toward a theme like that because it always talks about hearts connecting and it can be a commentary on how the audience (and the creator) has connected with the heart of Kingdom Hearts-- and all the pros and cons involved in that special, questionably real friendship.

Magic and Power in the Shells

The end result of gaining too much power and importance in the world is to be forced, by conscience or your peers, to ascend to a higher plane of existence. But the paths to that power are many.

Some are given power, commonly known as sorcerers, warlocks, adepts, or witches. Whether from blood or from bargain, they have a large piece of a mightier being’s power, and as long as they stretch the muscles of their soul, they can strengthen it to enlarge their spark over time. Frequently this strengthening is part of the point, for the greater being; whether by eventually giving the power back with interest (for benevolent and/or fair-minded powers) or by being consumed or subsumed by the ancestor/patron (for malevolent or alien powers); they get an increase in power without needing to fight their peers for it.

Others are given power by a different means; worship. By doing deeds in a god’s name and aligning their mind well with their god’s cause, priests can earn a gift of the god’s power. Unlike sorcerers, this gift is not a lump sum given and then slowly built, but a steady stream supplied, and can be cut off at any time. However, handling large amounts of power does build up their own spark over time, so a priest who loses faith does not entirely lose power, and one converted to another religion will be much more powerful than a novice.

Druids of the old faith are much like priests, and generally use the power of a nature god rather than nature’s power itself. However, if they fall out of their god’s trust they retain much more than would another priest, since their divine cause is as much a force as a being. In theory, priests without gods could do the same for any cause - freedom, wealth, brotherhood, theocide, or anything else - but in practice it takes more force of spark to empower one of these causes than anyone in the outermost shell can manage; priests of causes are an oddity even in the higher Worlds of Mastery, but (apart from the occasional druid) are totally unknown in the First World.

The best known path is the studious path; wizardry. Apprentice wizards learn fragments of the magical laws of the world by rote, and practice mental exercises and meditations to put into practice their knowledge to create spells. As they gain in power and understanding, they incorporate more and more of this knowledge intuitively, and can work at higher and higher levels of abstraction in their manipulation of the world. Unlike the other paths to greatness, this one can, slowly, be walked in reverse. Most other methods of increasing your spark make it something you are, but wizardry is almost entirely something you do. Because of this, it is possible, and not excessively rare, for master wizards to decide to remain and study the subject academically, but cease to put it into practice. Through inaction, they cease to reinforce their spark, and so can - albeit slowly - let it recede. They do, however, usually retain the long life characteristic of those with a strong spark. This is a factor in the reputation of wizards as old, wizened scholars who are scatterbrained and have no practical ability to do anything; strong wizards who desire not to push themselves beyond the world’s ability to contain them must, necessarily, fall out of practice in advanced spellcasting despite keeping their practiced inclinations toward study. The portion of wizards who choose to ascend deliberately attempt one of the known rituals which require the next level of mastery to carry out, and in so doing ascend.

Noticeably distinct but in many regards similar are the martial sages and monks. Their object of study is the self and body and their magical properties, but in many ways the path is much like wizardry, and the scholarly-inclined among the martial masters can produce effects around them very much like a wizard’s spells. They likewise can acquire notably extended lifetimes, and have none of the frailty that wizards acquire with age, and in many cases maintain eternal youth. However, since most of their mastery comes in the form of controlling their body to become a better mystic channel, it is considerably more difficult for them to step back from the edge of ascension. Frequently, an honored master who has attempted to remain in the world will be approached by their students and asked to leave. Some choose to do so by executing a single great work of martial mastery, while others opt for a spiritual quest, with the most traditional being to seek out and confront a great demon and battling until one of them dies or they ascend to the next world, in so doing bringing a menace to a world where it is less dangerous.If a selfish master warsage refuses, their students, even if equally selfish, will band together to fight their teacher.

There are also less studious paths to martial power. Some orders of knights, and various notorious soldiers and explorers, gain power through mastery of their own body, without study. Through willpower, practice, and force of personality, they build their physique into metaphysique. Through integrating their soul with their body, they gain the ability to surpass the common law of the world through their actions. They are perhaps the most self-made of the great, and the ones with the greatest likelihood of becoming dangerous to their surroundings without noticing the progression, and so the ones who must be sent off to die or ascend with the least notice. For this, communities across the world have developed the same solution; the tradition of the dragonslayer. A great warrior who is observed to warp the world around them, as the too-great do, is, if noble, sent to find the nearest vile dragon, and to fight it to the death. If they succeed, the concentrated power of the dragon will almost certainly push them past the threshold of greatness, and if it does not, bathing in the dragon’s blood or eating its heart - frequently also part of the dragonslaying tradition - will for certain. For the black knights and other evil sorts, either an alliance of the just will meet them at war, or a noble dragon will enact the traditional story, with the same two possible endings.

Not all those who achieve too much greatness for the world are noticeable. It’s certainly much easier for a combatant to test themselves in the sort of contest that stokes their spark, but there are slower paths, though no less difficult. Great skill in crafts can do it, as can skill in deception, acrobatics, spycraft, lore, or a number of other fields. For many of these, we can observe that they reach the threshold but not how they cross it; this is particularly notable for the dangerous and secretive professions, which produce greatness almost as reliably as outright warlike ones, but much less visibly. Great craftsmen often ascend in the completion of a masterwork, which may or may not pass inward with them. Performers sometimes do likewise, and the compilation of lore can be a masterwork in this sense. But for many skills, we see only that they begin to warp the world around them, and then they vanish.

One conjecture, linked with a common theory of draconic transit, is that there are portals to greater worlds, invisible and unusable to us but accessible to the mighty, if they can find them. This suggests that the skilled spies and thieves prove their ability by locating and reaching one such portal, and then pass through it. This stands as the most likely theory raised to date, but remains uncertain

HG Headcanons - General Structure and Rankings

Fair warning that this is going to be a long and likely kind of confusing to read headcanon set. And there’s gonna be more after this one. Trust me.

The Higher Plane (abbreviated HG for simplicity) is a plane of Angels that exists outside of conventional time and space. It exists on a specific frequency that overlaps with all possible realities, though because the HG is technically infinite and there are only a theoretically finite number of angels, not every universe is paid attention to. The HG primarily concerns itself in universes that natively contain a UG or one with a high enough concentration of Imagination that a UG would be beneficial for the HG’s overall plan to push humanity away from its perceived individualistic, isolationist nature.

Residents of the HG are known as Angels. While some Angels are entities originally from the HG itself, a large number of them are not. Ascension to Angelhood does happen. Generally, those that Ascend are Composers that were able to completely let go of their inherent individuality to become one enough with the city that their power and mind began to seep across their city’s borders. Composers with such ability are Ascended and a new Composer is selected. Most Composers, however, remain too attached to their city to expand their horizons out their far and refine their Souls to such a level. Generally, Reapers with a high level of potential are Ascended instead. Sometimes Players are directly Ascended after their Games based on their raw potential.

Angels themselves have a slight hierarchical setup, determined by relative level of Soul refinement and vibe. The highest ranking are those natively from the HG, while from their rank is determined by ability. The lowest ranking are the newest who are still developing into their powers, or those whose skills are valued but that still cling to their individuality (in the HG’s words, some Angels have no desire to completely give their identities up to the Angel collective). Angel Vibes are so high above the base level perceptible by anyone, even Composers, that only Producer vibes are detectable to Composers, any ranking higher than that would not be perceptible. Think of it as standing in a forest and trying to see a single tree, that’s how lost in an Angel’s Vibe non-angelic individuals are.

Due to the base sheer power level of an Angel, the HG exists in a sort of hive mind form. It is impossible to conceal thoughts while int he HG everyone’s Vibe is so strong that everyone is essentially scanning all at the same time. Some Angels embrace this, others do not. It is not seen as a crime to not fully embrace the nature of the HG. In fact, due to the need for Producers, it’s not even frowned upon, though attempting to conceal one’s thoughts while within the HG is considered to be extremely rude.

Despite the hive mind, each Angel still has their own individual Soul. Opening up one’s borders to such a level doesn’t alter base Soul composition, but it still grants Angels higher level abilities than most Composers could ever hope to attain. Most Angels spend most of their time, if not all of it, within the HG, unless sent out on another assignment. The exception to this are Producers, who spend most of their lives, once they are assigned to the rank, outside of the HG.

Producers are Angels selected to oversee the Game. Appointments as Producer range from temporary for certain games to permanent. Angels selected to be Producers tend to either be on the younger side  - and, therefor, less anchored in the shared mind of the HG, having a better sense of individuality despite their inclusion in the HG’s hive mind - or the older side so that they aren’t going to play any favorites in Games with special circumstances.

The Game, to the HG, is a means of pushing humanity toward unification, which is seen as an ideal scenario, the pinnacle of the potential of any number of Souls. Each Angel has their own views on the Game itself. And, as the HG has the ability to create UGs (though this is quite a complicated process and takes some time, and only replies to an area of a universe at a time, you can’t split an entire universe into multiple planes all at once), the HG is going to ensure that as many possible Games that work toward this idea are set up. Universes where Soul doesn’t quite work ideally - the HG is very picky about the nature of eligible Souls - are ignored entirely by HG as a whole.

I know that was a bit of a word salad but I’m just trying to get ideas out. Also, the general structure of the Angelic hierarchy is as follows, and does not reflect the spheres of literature:

This is one perception of karma, and one that will free you from the karmic cycle of "I kill you, now you kill me" type of karmic dance some souls are involved in for many lifetimes. When both halves of the Soul become strong pillars on their own, have healed and resolved karmic ties in the present life, then they can unite to fulfill their Divine purpose, but the challenges do not end. There is an intensity that can be frightening when dealing with your mirror, your weaknesses and strengths magnified, unresolved issues and wounds painfully open to push you to further healing, or cause ego to run from the relationship in fear. If there is karma from past lives to work out between you, it will be apparent and consciously worked out. If you or your twin is committed to another relationship, you will respect and honor that bond and realize the tests of unconditional love. Meeting your twin soul challenges you to grow spiritually, heal mentally, emotionally, physically, and to see beyond time, ego, and physical limitations. You will be driven with the desire to be the best manifestation of your soul on earth. In my own experience, the man I believed with my entire being of being my twinflame, turned out to be a karmic soul mate, and one of the most painful lessons of my life. Thus, this article has been rewritten eliminating some of the original text. After these few years of reflection, I've come to see that there are no guarantees in life, in all our lessons we are called to learn unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness, a meeting with a karmic soul mate can be the ultimate test of your spiritual evolution. Many people have written me, asking me to somehow confirm their belief that they have met their twin soul. Life is about love in all forms, how can we truly grow without trusting in the wisdom of the Universe to bring to us those which will teach us best? Love is not about expectation, love is without condition, but relationships on this Earth are all about conditions. I would advise anyone who believes they have met their twin, yet is in such pain from that meeting, that perhaps the time for union is not right, or that they are enmeshed in a karmic soul mate or "near twin" relationship. Only in "letting go" can we be prepared to receive what is truly ours. There are some that believe the "reunion" with our twinflame is truly within, that we carry the essence of our beloved within our soul, and we are challenged to manifest that love in all we do, without attachment, without expectation, we become ONE.
