Miss Jacki’s top 30 SPN Episodes

#1 Who We Are 12x22
For me, this was as close to perfect as an episode can be!! Both Sam girls and Dean girls should have enjoyed this, and it was bibro Heaven!! Hellers probably still talk about it as the worst episode ever or something hehe.  For starters, we have the boys trapped with Toni Bevell in the bunker. Locked in, no electricity, water, and the air is being pumped out, so of course theres pending doom. After trying to reset the machinery with a spell that failed, the bros try bashing down a wall. This was an awesome scene!! Whats not to love about Sam and Dean in single layers, being all strong and macho??  Exhausted, they sit together, dirty, sweaty, and tired. What an absolute beautiful sight!! When the boys sit together talking, you always have my full attention. Theyre feeling a little hopeless. This really could be the end. Sam opens up, maybe he feels more than a little guilty that things got to this point. Of course, its not his fault really, he didnt know the BMOL were brain washing mom, or had plans to exterminate the American Hunters, he just wanted to help make the world a better place. Sam gives a confession, that once he was in, he just followed, because it was easier than leading. Dean nods in agreement. They both probably liked just being told where to go and what to kill much more than telling others what to do.  So now the boys think theyve lost, and its not the “blaze of glory” theyve always imagined... until.... THE GRENADE LAUNCHER!!!  Toni thinks the boys are lunatics, and well... they are :D Big Beautiful and Dumb!!  They couldnt care less that the whole building might fall on their heads, If they go out, theyre going out with a bang, and on their own terms!! The exchange of looks Sam and Dean gave each other was nothing less than priceless. The grenade explodes, Sam instantly goes looking for Dean. Theres a big hole in the wall,, and no Dean, so he must have gotten out!! But oh shit, the hole collapses!! Sam goes into instant panic mode!! DEAN??? DEAN!!???? He can barely see, the air is thin, and he collapses on all 4s as he sucks all the oxygen thats left by hyperventilating. Just then the door opens and Dean walks in with a bloody busted leg and Sams face lights up. Dean greets him with “Hey Lunatic”” and all order in Sam’s life is restored. We fast forward to Jody’s house where Mary is tied up for attacking Jody. Sam calls other hunters to come help them take out the Brits. Atypical of Sam, he has a pretty long speech, but, he finally gets a good tag line. For years, all we had were things like “I lost my shoe” or “Im a whole new level of freak” but now we have “I want you to follow me” it hits me in the feels when I hear him say this. He’s come so far and grown so much in the last 12 yrs, that he can say these words in confidence. Dean was so proud! This lead to one of my favorite brohugs, that tied in a little bit with my 2nd fav episode, Swan Song (which Ill talk about tomorrow) In Swan Song, Dean was letting Sam go to do his quest on his own. Sam told him “If I do this, and triple lindy into that cage, you know Im not coming back” and Dean says “I know” but this time, Dean is sending Sam off on his quest and hugs him, and tells him “You come back” and Sam says “Promise” (ugggh my heart) seal that with a Winchester “I love you” which was “Bitch” “Jerk” and just the pause and the sweet grin on Sams face when Dean said it, you knew he knew Dean just told him he loves him <3 So Sam goes off.... meanwhile, Dean is now trying to talk to mom while in her head. My heart was flipping seeing chubby happy baby Sam, cooing and playing with his blanket. When Dean goes over to see him, he just seemed so happy to show big grown up Dean his blanket!! The only thing that would have made me feelier, is if Dean picked baby Sam up and cuddled him, and maybe kissed his head (but then I woulda just died and couldnt write this so...)
Sams battle with the brits, was a little lack luster, but its ok because Dean’s scene was awesome. He’s laying it out to Mom, this is whats what.... and instead of making it all about him, he made it about Sam. Basically “you left me with a responsibility I couldnt handle and look what it did to Sam???” I was full on sobbing when he told Mom that Sam was posessed by Lucifer, Tortured in Hell and lost his soul. Some of you got angry that Sam wasnt the one to tell her, but hello... this is Sam we’re talking about. Its never his thing to lay his load on someone else. Sometimes, maybe a little with Dean, but he just wouldnt give all this to his mother. But Dean would for him. She needs to know and Sam wont tell her, so Dean will. He tells Mary he hates her... he says it more than once. I feel it, it comes from his gut. Not just a knee jjerk reaction to anger. He IS feeling this. And Dean Winchester has the most open, and honest moment hes had in a long time, maybe in the whole series “I hate you.... and I love you. I cant.. I cant help it... youre my mom” and without a word of lie, Im crying as I write this. I may be 100% in love with Sam, but Dean is my buddy. Hes messed up and too violent sometimes, but he is so full of love it hurts me, and him too aparently. I know he and Sam have felt exactly this for each other a number of times. It reminds me of what Jared said about Sam and Dean at SDCC2017 “Sam and Dean love each other as much as its possible for two people to love each other... even when sometimes they hate each other a little”:True love is huge and confusing and uncontrolable, and everyone does stupid stuff when they love big. If youre one of those people waiting for and expecting a love that wont ever hurt like hell, you wont ever really experience love.  *ehem* where was I? Oh yes.... ok so, Where Sam and Dean both are at this point, is kind of a role reversal, Sam is doing the fighting and Dean is doing the curing. And this is really cool IMO. And I dont know if youve noticed, but they both had to stop being “them” for a second, and be the other instead. Dean has to get mom out of her head, Sam has to finish off the Brits in the US. if Sam were standing were Dean is right now, what would he do? He would forgive mom, and this is what Dean needs to do. If Dean were standing where Sam is, what would he do? He would trust himself, Sam and his friends, and tell the Brits to fuck off... and this is what Sam did. Sam has issues with second guessing and not trusting his own instincts... but this time he becomes Dean and just says “pass” shoots the computer and Jody kills Hess. (Sam shoulda but oh well) Back at the Bunker, Toni is dead YAAAY and now the fight with Ketch, and mom wakes up and kills him (ish) big win for the Winchesters!! But then comes maybe my favorite moment ever. Dean and Mom are talking, and Dean tells her theyre gonna start over and do it right. Mom is worried, “What about Sam? Im scared.... what if he cant forgive me” Sam walks in, the man  that just took out the big bad BMOL is so soft, and so sad “Mom... you dont have to be scared of me”  OMG FUCKING KILL ME!!! Dont be scared of this huge hulk of a man that kills bad guys and monsters every day and scares the hell out of demons... dont be scared Mom because he loves you. Your deal made his life a living hell, but he forgave you a long time ago. You didnt know what would happen, and hes done the same thing himself. He knows as well as anyone what stupid things we might do for love.  Mom hugs Sam and Sam just looks like the biggest teddybear ever. And if thats not enough, Dean comes in “Im glad youre back man” and hugs him too. Sams face while being wrapped in all this love. All for him!! The whole damn series could have ended there and Id be happy!!  This is why Who We Are is my favorite episode ever!!

“It’s the hot cars that make me think it’s all a smoke screen,” you tried to explain your theory. “The throw away cars, the Hondas and Cavaliers, etc., they’re the diversion.”
“So, do you think there’s more than one person at this?” Jarry asked.
“With as many cars as were stolen and dropped in such a short amount of time each night, and then there’s the ones that were not recovered, it makes me think there were at least four people doing the throw-away cars and at least three on the valuable cars. One person drops them at the car they boost then pick up once they’re ready to ditch the car. The hot cars need more time to scope and plan but that was probably one person dropping off and one doing the boost. Sometimes the drop off is the lookout, but doesn’t have to be. The person doing the boost is probably the one orchestrating this whole plan, too. In a town like this, if they were coming from outside, that would get noticed, so they’re probably a local team.”
“Do you know anyone that looks good for this?” Jarry asked after considering your words.
Of course, Jarry knew it wasn’t you. Either she, or someone from her department, had been watching you since you arrived in Charming, only proving that Happy was right and she had surveillance on the Sons. With that kind of coverage, there was no way it could have been you and Jarry not know. Jarry had worked stolen car cases before and they never really ever got resolved. Those small cases were nothing in comparison to what she had to deal with regarding the high-end cars that were missing. In the case file, she’d included possible suspects for the thefts, all of which had priors for GTA.
“Out of the ones you gave me, only this one looks good,” you handed the mug shot through the bars. “He could be the one good for the high-end cars, maybe even running the show, hard to say. The other ones will be kids, probably no priors, get one of them, they can point you to the leader.”
A few moments passed as Jarry thought over everything you had told her. A look of resignation had crossed her face. She knew with certainty it wasn’t you and it was because she had the surveillance set up. Jarry had thought that when Filip had come back to her, it was because he still cared for her. She’d regretted letting him go and had spent a lot of time trying to get him back. She’d reasoned that the surveillance was necessary for the safety and well-being of the community since SAMCRO had quite the reputation in Charming. If she happened to find out Chibs’ whereabouts as a result, then it was just icing on the cake. You coming into town had thrown a wrench in the works.
“I’ll take all of this now,” she said stiffly. She was not happy at all. The scene that greeted her with the three of them sitting like a picnic pissed her off. Chibs was smiling at the bitch, not like she had said something funny, but like he was…proud of her? But ‘proud’ wasn’t the word. He looked at her with love in his eyes.
You gathered all of the papers and supplies and handed them back to her. It looked like Jarry was about to walk out without another word, but you weren’t that lucky. She stopped just as she got to the doorway and turned back to face you.
“It’ll never work between you two, you know that, right?” she asked plainly.
“Excuse me?” you said. How in the hell would she know?
“You’re too different. If you knew all of the things he’s done for and because of the Sons, you’d run for home right now. He would get calls while he was in bed with me and would go take care of whatever mess your useless cousin got them into, doing whatever it took to clean it up. We could never tie him to anything though. Even so, he’s been in prison for very serious offenses. And you, you’re just a princess with a silver spoon up her ass, moonlighting on the dark-side. Stupid kid stuff when you were younger.” She looked at you with pity.
You couldn’t believe your ears. Her impression of you was completely wrong. You’d stolen everything you could get your hands on up until the incident with Brandon, but you’d always been very careful. Your dad had been very successful as a businessman, but the wealthy part didn’t come until you were almost out of high school. You’d had to work hard for everything you had. You were no stranger to hard work, but you weren’t above taking a five-finger discount.
“Thought you should know before he breaks your heart,” Jarry told you and turned on her heel to leave.
Sitting down on your empty cot, you almost laughed at her assumptions. The container holding the brownie was next to you, calling out to be eaten. Leaning back against the wall, you ate the brownie your sweet boy got you and hoped to hell he called Jack.
“Hey kiddo, how are ya?” Jack answered.
“Is this Jack?” Chibs asked.
There was a pause on the other end, “Aw shit. Is this Chibs? Is she okay?”
“Yes, to both,” he said. “She’s in jail, though. Needs a lawyer, said ta call ye.”
Chibs could hear Jack sigh heavily on the other end, “Tell me everything you know.”
Chibs told him everything about what Jarry had been doing, watching the club, stalking him, the party and what had happened that day.
“Well, sounds like Sheriff Jarry is a clever one, hauling her in on a Sunday,” Jack grumbled. “Alright,” he continued, “I’ll be out as soon as I can. You know I have to tell Debbie, right?”
“I think the lass would prefer ye didn’,” Chibs suggested.
Jack outright laughed, “Yeah, I’m sure she would, but I would prefer to keep my head attached to my shoulders!”
“Shit,” he conceded. “Best o’ luck, bruv. Let me know when ye get in. Need a ride from the airport? I’ll have the lass’s phone.”
“Nah, it’s okay. I have it covered. Thanks, Chibs, see you soon.”
He didn’t know what to do with himself without (Y|N) and while he had to wait for Jack to fly in. It was barely after two on a Sunday afternoon, but he decided to take a chance on going to the clubhouse. There was usually someone in there. He put the phone in his jeans pocket, grabbed his kutte off the peg and made his way down the hall to the clubhouse doors.
Happy and Tig were sitting at a table, drinking beers, listening to classic rock, smoking and bullshitting. He was glad they were there. Tig saw him first.
“CHIBS!” he popped up from his seat and greeted his brother with the customary bro hug complete with the sound of hands slapping on leather backed kuttes. Happy soon followed. Tig grabbed a round of beer and they all sat down at the table.
“What’s goin’ on, Chibs, thought you’d be with that sexy badass gettin’ laid,” Tig asked. “Or did she figure out what a bum you are and ditch you?“
Tig wasn’t too far from the truth. He worried the lass was going to decide he wasn’t worth the trouble anymore. He took a long drink from his beer.
“(Y|N) is in jail. Jarry brought her in for questioning,” Chibs explained.
“What for?” Happy asked, instantly angry.
“Why didn’t she tell Jarry to fuck off?” Tig wanted to know. “Why isn’t she here if it was just questioning?”
“Jarry wanted her to look at a car theft case she’s working, thought the lass could help,” Chibs said.
Tig had a confused look on his face, “Why would (Y|N) be able to help?”
“The lass used to steal cars,” they both were still looking at him with blank expressions. “A lot. Everyday. Only arrested twice. Once on the first time, and once on the last when she wrecked the car. Jarry thought she could look at the case and give her a lead. Told (Y|N) if she didn’t help, she’d press charges.”
Chibs was sure his brothers had seen her leg, at the very least, at the party. It was hard to miss.
“I knew I liked that girl,” Tig said.
“It pissed off the lass something awful, Eglee said. But (Y|N) looked at the case anyway. The cars caught her eye.” Chibs wanted to drink himself into oblivion, but he needed a clear head for when Jack arrived and maybe he’d get to go down to the jailhouse to get (Y|N) out, too.
“So, she looked at the case anyway and Jarry didn’t drop it?” Tig asked.
Happy chimed in, “Want me to get her out, Pres?”
“Yeah Chibs, I don’t have a problem shooting that gash, Jarry. It’ll be fun, like old times,” Tig looked nostalgic.
Chibs considered their offers for a hot minute ultimately deciding against it.
“No,” he shook his head, “the lass needs us on this side o’ the bars.”
Happy sat back in his chair, a disappointed look on his face.
“I want to kill something,” he said.
“I know ye do, bruv,” Chibs empathized. He would have liked to shoot Jarry, too. The lass didn’t deserve being treated the way she was just because she was with him.
“Five years ago, we woulda done it,” Tig mused.
“Aye and five years ago, we would have been in there with her,” Chibs said. “We need to stay clean so we can earn clean. I’m not putting anyone in danger again.”
Bored. To. Tears. You were desperately trying not to over think things, but when you had nothing to do but count the bricks in the wall, your mind wandered (there were 492). Eglee had asked you about any tattoos or distinguishing scars that needed to be documented, which led to more photographs and more questions. You did cut Eglee some slack, she was very nice about how she asked.
Telling the story about how you wrecked the Porsche was easy enough. You had no memory of the actual event, just the burning pain and rehab after. You’d accepted all of the details about what had happened long ago. Bringing up Brandon and what he’d done was completely different and was almost impossible to talk about without being nauseated or crying. You remembered every second of what he did to you. You just let Eglee assume that it was from the crash, just like you let Filip believe the same. The cops had caught Brandon and he went to prison where karma caught up with him.
Eglee probably suspected you weren’t telling her everything but she just let it go. You didn’t want to tell her all of the gory details anyway. There was no way you were going to tell Eglee that part of your life before you told Filip. Lying through your teeth and keeping secrets was always something you’d been good at, but now, after being with Filip, it was like you were finally getting a conscience about it all. It felt wrong not to tell him.
Before Charming, you’d never had a problem being alone. Sitting in your cell, you were feeling very alone and you were lonely for Filip. The last week had been the happiest of your life and it was because of him. The attraction had been immediate, but it was more than just lust, you genuinely liked him and got along with him so well. Being with him was like going home, it was so natural, as if you’d always been together. You’d finally found someone that treated you like a queen, cared about you and it was all in jeopardy.
You leaned back against the cell wall and tried to clear your mind. If Filip called Jack, he would be on his way as soon as he could, you were sure of it, maybe even close to landing. Jack would call your mother, there was no question on that point. He’d been keeping track of you more than just to make sure you were okay. Your mother would have found a way to annoy the hell out of you if Jack hadn’t been the go-between. He was the one that relayed the details to your mother so you didn’t have to.
God, I hope she didn’t come with him, you thought to yourself.

Working Title: Forward, Back (10/?)
Summary:  Knowing what’s going to happen doesn’t mean Sans can stop it.  Maybe he could’ve put it off forever.  Sans decides to go.
Rating: T
Part Summary: Undyne takes a call, there’s breakfast, and Frisk heads out.
>>First Part<<
C/N: Mental Illness
Sans could hear Undyne talking loudly on the phone in the living room. Papyrus was rushing around the kitchen, trying to get food together for all his guests.  He looked happy.
"You were ill so recently--please, Papyrus, allow me to lend you a hand," Toriel said.
"I AM COMPLETELY FINE NOW," Papyrus said.
"eh, she'd make any excuse to help out," Sans said.
"WELL, IF MY ILLNESS WAS JUST AN EXCUSE TO FULFILL YOUR DREAM OF HELPING ME IN MY PREPARATIONS, I DO NOT SUPPOSE IT WOULD BE RIGHT TO DENY YOU," Papyrus said.
"Thank you, Papyrus."
Frisk had been inside before they went to drag Sans and Toriel in with them.  They'd already reassured themself that Papyrus was fine, but they were still inclined to stay in the kitchen with him.  They peered into the large pot on the stove, curious what Papyrus was making.
"How much?  I don't know, just estimate it!"  Undyne's voice carried from the other room.  "Wow.  Ok, that's a lot of puke, but we've seen more from that little vomit-cannon!  They're just letting you know they're worried 'cause I'm not there!"  She was quiet, for a few seconds.  "He'd run over in a second if you asked."
Grillby opened the kitchen door and joined the crowd.  He was burning low, clearly still exhausted.
From the other room: "That's really sneaky!  Alphys, you're brilliant!"
"Grillby, greetings," Toriel said.  "It has been several weeks, has it not?  Are you here to lend us your aid?"
It was too much conversation for Grillby, so soon after waking up.  He stared at her while her words sunk in.  "...yes?" he tried.
"of course he's helping out.  aw.  everyone's making breakfast for me. this is great," Sans said.
"You and Frisk can set the table, or you can leave the kitchen," Toriel said.
Frisk started getting out silverware, and Sans went into the living room. Undyne was making smooching noises at her phone, so Sans realized he'd made the wrong choice.  He settled down on the couch anyway.  He put his feet up on the coffee table.  Now that the excitement was over, he felt all that extra energy draining out of him.  He wanted a quick nap before he was woken up for breakfast.
Undyne sit heavily on the couch next to him.  She sighed, loudly.  "She's so great."
"yeah," Sans said.
"I told her to call Asgore over if it was getting tough, and she said she'd call him over for tea.  There's no way he won't volunteer to babysit.  She won't even have to ask!"
"smart."  Well, it was a way of avoiding asking, anyway.
"Right! I kind of put this on her out of nowhere.   Maybe she's right and five's enough, since it's getting kind of tough to watch 'em alone."
Five? "congrats."
"Don't tell anyone yet!  I want to surprise your brother next time he visits."
"got it."  Sans slid down a little more.
"He really freaked all of us out.  I'm really proud of him for defending everyone!  But...holy shit, if anything had happened to him..." She trailed off.
Sans risked a look.  She was shaking with anger, staring straight forward.
"that woulda sucked," Sans said, shrugging.  "but it didn't."
"That human still needs to get their ass kicked."
He couldn't disagree with that.
"A 100% non-fatal ass kicking!"
"right." Papyrus wouldn't want anything else.
"NGHAAAAA! Now that the brat's here, they'll get pissed if I try it.  I'd be really gentle!  It'd be more like a loving caress!  Just softly toss 'em into a brick wall!"
"heh. draw little happy faces on your spears."
"Perfect! They'll be GRATEFUL!  Or they'll SAY they are, when they're CRYING and telling me how they're never hurting anyone ever again!"
Sans didn't regret missing his nap, anymore.  "the kiddo's probably right, though."
"Yeah. But I've got to punch SOMETHING before I go home."
Sans moved a little bit away from her.
"Not you!  You're too flimsy.  It'd be like punching a pillow.  Not satisfying at all!"
"thanks."
Sans managed to get a nap in while she went down through a list of different things that could stand to be punched.
The number of people visiting made it feel almost like Gyftmas.  Sans was happy for Papyrus.  He had to see how important he was.  They'd probably be dealing with visitors from all over for the next couple weeks.
Tori set a platter of waffles on the table.  Yeah, like Gyftmas, except not one of the good ones.  One of the ones where the air was stuffed thick with anxiety.  Sans could see the worry on everyone's faces, and in the uncomfortable ways they carried themselves.
Sans wasn't sure what Frisk's plan was, or what Undyne was going to end up doing.  Things could go wrong very quickly.
Sans took his seat at the table and yawned.
"I do hope we are not interrupting your nap by bringing you food," Toriel said, laughing.
"man, tori.  you guys are rude."  He rested his head on the table, and Frisk sat down next to him and tried to balance a plate on his skull.
"The longer we sit around, the more time that messed up human punk has to get away!"  Undyne said.  She didn't act so rushed she was going to skip breakfast, though.  She sat down with them.
"ANYTHING WE ATTEMPT WILL BE MORE SUCCESSFUL AFTER BREAKING OUR FASTS ON THIS DELICIOUS MEAL," Papyrus said.
"You aren't doing anything!" Undyne said, sharp, and then pulled back.  She gave Papyrus a reassuring smile.  "You still have to recover, right?  Your doctor will kick my butt if they find out I let you go."
Frisk said they wanted to see if they could figure it out themselves, first.  Undyne had gotten a good description of the human out of Papyrus by getting him to brag about the fight, and from what they had heard, they thought they might be a kid.
"Someone needs to speak with that child's parents," Toriel said.
Sans closed his eyes, listening, but not wanting to engage.  Shouldn't other humans be going with Frisk?  They weren't technically a kid anymore, but they were still very young.  All of this was happening too quick.  Sans didn't think Frisk was actually there in any official capacity, despite their fancy clothes.
He sure didn't like this.  Humans were pretty good at killing other humans.  What if something happened to Frisk?  It was a pretty old worry, but the situation felt like the time he’d knocked a broken bone right when it was almost done healing.
Thinking it over, Tori was acting pretty strange, too.  She wasn't happy about whatever Frisk was up to.  Sans didn't think she would have run out to visit so fast herself once she was reassured that Papyrus was okay.   She would have stopped by, but she wouldn't usually just drop her responsibilities.
"I TRUST YOU WILL BE CAREFUL, FRISK," Papyrus said.  He sounded more and more like a mom every day.
Frisk nodded.  They said that they knew what they were doing.  They weren't going to kill anyone, and they weren't going to be killed. Their confidence reassured everyone at the table.
"cool line, kid," Sans said.
Sans ate what was probably technically more than his share of breakfast. Grillby left for work, already exhausted and moody.  He was going to be a lot of fun when he got home that night.  Frisk left after him, and everyone was a little bit on edge, again.  Half an hour after they left, Undyne went after them.  Toriel fussed in the kitchen and Papyrus walked back and forth from where Sans was napping in the living room, to where she was in the kitchen.  He wanted to follow Undyne, but he had made a promise to her.
Sans tried to distract both of them by sharing knock-knock jokes with Toriel.  Papyrus found them obnoxious enough to forget about following Undyne, at least for a short time.  Toriel quickly lost steam, though.
"I am going to...step out for a little while," she said.  "I would like to clear my head."
"i just use a cue tip but whatever works," Sans said.  He wanted to ask her if she was going to go after her kid, too, but decided to just let her go do what she was going to do.
"WHY DID EVERYONE RUN OUT SO QUICKLY?" Papyrus asked, nervous.  "I AM NOT WORRIED!  THEY KEEP SAYING THERE IS NOTHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT, SO I BELIEVE THEM!  BUT...THEY ARE ACTING IN WAYS THAT..."
"well, tori'll always be uneasy 'cuz she's frisk's mom," Sans said. "you know undyne just wants part of the action, even if there isn't any."
"YES, RIGHT."  He didn't seem reassured.  "I KNOW THAT I SAID I WOULD NOT GO, HOWEVER..."
"nuh-uh, bro.  there'll be a kid back from school soon, and you know if it's just me here i'll give 'em whatever candy i find for their snack and call it done."
"THAT'S SO UNHEALTHY!  I ALREADY PREPARED A NOODLE SALAD FOR THEIR POST SCHOOL MEAL!  AND IF THEY PREFER SOMETHING ELSE, YOUR FRIEND MADE THEM SOME...SNAIL THING."
"i've got half a packet of m&ms in my pocket, somewhere," Sans said.
"THIS IS BLACKMAIL!  FRAUD!  OR AT LEAST YOU ARE BEING KIND OF A JERK."
"maybe."
"YOU KNOW THEIR NUTRITIONAL HEALTH IS VERY IMPORTANT."
"yeah."
"YOU COULD JUST SAY 'I DO NOT THINK YOU SHOULD GO EITHER, BROTHER.'  I MEAN, 'bro.'"  He considered.  "BRO ACTUALLY IS A VERY COOL WAY TO SAY BROTHER!  IT NEVER OCCURRED TO ME THAT YOU MIGHT BE SAYING SOMETHING COOL, 'BRO.'"
"i do not think you should go either, brother," Sans said.
"IN YOUR OWN WORDS WOULD BE PREFERABLE, BUT I WILL ACCEPT IT.  I AM OUTNUMBERED!  MAYBE THAT IS EASY WHEN YOU ARE NUMBER ONE."
"it's tough work, being at the top."
"IT IS!  NOT MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE, HOWEVER."  He sighed.  "I DO WANT TO REGISTER MY PROTEST.  I WISH THEY WOULD ALLOW ME TO HELP."
"yeah. look, though.  you remember what you were like after grillbz got sick real bad, right?"
"THAT IS NOT..."  He considered.  "YES, THAT IS VERY SIMILAR."
"you'd get mad if you didn't think he was eating the right stuff."
"YES, BUT, CELERY, SANS!  THAT IS 99% WATER!  THERE IS NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE IN THAT FOR A FIRE MONSTER!"  He stomped his foot a few times, and then settled down, sighing.  "I DO ACTUALLY ALREADY UNDERSTAND."
"frisk'll go out and take care of this freak.  yell at their parents or something, i dunno.  then in a couple weeks they'll send some people down who'll be paid to guard this town, and you don't have to worry about doing it yourself anymore."
"...RIGHT."
"c'mon. sit over here with me."
Papyrus sighed and went over to the couch.  He sat down and sighed again, louder.  He crossed his arms and tapped his foot.
"you're so relaxed."
"EVERYONE IS EITHER ANGRY AT ME OR WORRIED ABOUT ME.  THEY SHOULD TRUST MY STRENGTH!  OR AT LEAST NOTICE THAT I AM STILL HERE, AND THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT."
"grillby's not that mad."
"THE EX-QUEEN GAVE ME AN EXCEEDINGLY LONG BUT SKILLFULLY DELIVERED LECTURE WHILE WE WERE MAKING BREAKFAST.  I BELIEVE SHE THINKS SHE IS ACTUALLY MY MOTHER?  I WAS NOT QUITE SURE HOW TO DISABUSE HER OF THAT NOTION."
"tori did?"
"YES! EVERY TIME FRISK LEFT THE ROOM WITH DISHES, SHE WOULD LOOK AT ME AND SAY 'Now one more thing, my dear.'"
"that doesn't sound that mad."
"I COULD SEE THE BARELY CONTAINED RAGE IN HER EYES!  IT WAS LIKE WITHIN HER SOCKETS WERE TINY ENCASED UNDYNES, WAITING FOR THE CHANCE TO BREAK FREE AND GIVE ME THE MOST PAINFUL NOOGIE OF MY LIFE!"
"oh no."
"AND OF COURSE YOU AND THE CHILDREN ARE VERY UPSET.  AND NOW EVERYONE IS WORRIED ABOUT FRISK.  BECAUSE OF MY ACTIONS, APPARENTLY."
Well, if the human had attacked someone other than Papyrus, Frisk probably wouldn't have rushed down.  That was going a little far in blaming Papyrus, though.  No one wanted Frisk to go, either.
"it's the worst, right?"  Sans sighed.  "doing what you think's right, and having it go bad.  they'll get over it, papyrus.  you don't monitor what grillbz eats anymore, right?"
"I DO NOT TELL HIM, SINCE HE FOUND IT SO IRRITATING."
"that's just as good."
Papyrus rapped his hand on the arm of the couch.
Sans patted him on the back.  "it'll be ok, bro.  i can feel it in my bones," he lied.
"NOW IT IS TIME TO PLEASE STOP TRYING TO CHEER ME UP."
"what? that didn't tickle your funny bone?"
"YOU WORE IT DOWN AND AWAY BY REPEATING THAT JOKE SO MANY TIMES!"
"maybe you should've gotten the doc to look at that, too.  if your bones start wearing down, one day i'll tell you a joke so good, you'll just fall to pieces."
"IF ONLY!"  He took the blanket off the back of the couch and dropped it on Sans' head.  "GO TO SLEEP!"
"i'm not a bird," Sans said.
"YOU MUST BE TOO EXHAUSTED TO SAY ANOTHER WORD."
"there's a bird under here, though.  be free, little bird."  He lifted the blanket up enough so he could flip Papyrus off.
"HAVE A PILLOW AS WELL!"
Sans felt one hit his head.
Papyrus stood up and started loudly pacing.  After a minute, he sat back down next to Sans again.  "HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?"
"let me check.  half past 'i don't feel like getting my phone out and i can't see the clock because there's a blanket on my head.'"
"SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TIME FOR SANS TO BE SO LAZY HE CANNOT MOVE A BLANKET OR TAKE OUT HIS PHONE.  IT IS THE SAME TIME AS EVERY OTHER TIME, IT SEEMS?  WE ARE FROZEN IN A MOMENT, FOREVER.  HOW TRAGIC."
"it's not that bad.  how long've they been gone?"
"IT HAS BEEN OVER AN HOUR SINCE TORIEL LEFT.  SHOULDN'T THEY BE BACK BY NOW, SANS?  I CAN'T IMAGINE IT TAKES THIS LONG TO RESOLVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS.  IT WOULD NOT TAKE THE GREAT PAPYRUS THIS LONG."
"frisk can try, but they can't live up to your standard."
"TRUE. BUT...THAT'S NO GOOD.  I NEED THEM TO GET BACK VERY SOON."
"yeah."
"MAYBE I SHOULD CALL."
"if you want."
"BUT WHAT IF THEY ARE CONCENTRATING ON AN IMPORTANT STRATEGY?"
"yeah. maybe you should hold off."
"OR MAYBE--"  He broke off and sighed.  "NEVER MIND."
"ok."
"...I WILL CALL IF THEY ARE NOT BACK IN AN HOUR."
"ok. if it helps, i don't think anything that bad happened to them." Time was still moving forward, like normal.
"AH, SANS.  EVER THE OPTIMIST.  OBLIVIOUS TO THE DANGEROUS REALITIES OF THE WORLD."
"that's me."
"NEVERTHELESS...I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT YOU ARE RIGHT!  THEY WILL BE BACK VERY SOON, AND I WILL MAKE EVERYONE LUNCH!"
Sans leaned against him.  The blanket was still over his head, but he was pretty sure he was leaning against Papyrus' arm.  "sounds good."
"YES!   I AM POSITIVE!"
"yeah." Sans felt a little bit of optimism leeching off his brother and into him.  Anyway, even if everything was going to go horribly wrong, what was the point in worrying about it right at that moment?  If something went bad and they went back, well, this was all he had, really.
Sans didn't think Frisk would reset if they were hurt--he just didn't think they wouldn't, either.  He didn't know.
Papyrus sighed and gave him a hug.  "IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR ME TO REMOVE THAT BLANKET FOR YOU, THEN I AM AFRAID YOU WILL BE WEARING IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE."
"i like it under here."
"SANS. OF COURSE YOU DO."
