i feel like people take rick calling beth “rick’s daughter” in season 3 in a super chauvinistic way but i honestly always read it as his way of emphasizing that beth is an incredibly smart and capable person. like i feel like it’s fair to say “rlck sanchez’s child” holds a certain kind of weight regardless of gender as opposed to necessarily being about ownership esp in the context he was saying it

#it’s kind of what his whole point hinges on in that scene too but i’ve seen some people interpret it in the like.#daddy-daughter dance core type of way #come to think of it i’d think that part of his issue w the citadel would have to come from the morty breeding thing #like at least a little bit. that they’d intentionally hamper beth across so many universes by tying her to jerry #when she could realistically have avoided that #i feel like rick might not have been quite as contemptuous toward jerry if their marriage wasn’t across literally every possible universe t
