Because Legtat blocked me and I can’t reblog your post
@nyxelestia
I’m glad that you were able to distinguish me –a member of the sterek fandom- from the rest of the fandom. I’m glad that even though I’m a self-proclaimed sterek, it’s possible for you to say something is true for me and ONLY ME because  it is completely unthinkable that the sterek fandom could possess any form of nuance or have separate opinions on a particular matter. It feels good that you have grouped the sterek fandom into two groups: Bita and Everyone else.
Because that’s exactly what you meant when you said:
To you, yes. But not to the Sterek standom. According to Sterek standom, Stiles is an affectionate Pack Mom who cooks for the pack and gives them a shoulder to cry on and heals the injured and sick (traits which, not coincidentally, Scott has in canon, but rarely ever has in fanfic)
I read the article you linked and it’s good that the author said those things and it would have been nice to read it before I watched the series because a lot of things shocked the hell out of me. I was very disappointed because I preferred the fanfics to the show. But that’s just me. That’s my preference. I have a right –like every other sterek- to like what I want. If Pack Mom Stiles is for me, then it’s for me. I’m the one wasting my time on it. I’m the one reading it. I’m the one creating art for it. Why should anyone care if the entire “Sterek Fandom minus Bita” chooses to think that Stiles is the Pack Mom and that Scott is a dopey puppy, according to the article?
I am not very sure, but it almost sounded like you were saying canon Scott is the shoulder everyone cries on and heals the sick and injured. You’re saying Scott is the Pack Mom. See, that’s your prerogative. That’s what you want to believe. But why is that so different from any of the stereks who wants to believe the same about Stiles? I mean, in my opinion, Scott may be all about not killing anyone but I don’t see him having a heart to heart with anyone about anything. Maybe except Stiles (Or Malia in the 6B which I haven’t watched) but still. If Stiles isn’t Pack mom material, then neither is Scott.
BUT THAT’S JUST MY OPINION!
Stiles does care, a lot. But Stiles isn’t a nurturing or feminine figure.
I’m wondering, what is feminine in 2017 where lines are blurred between genders and everyone has an equal right to be both sides of the coin? I mean, I’m a girl, but it’s been a while since anyone referred to me as feminine. So if we’re saying a guy isn’t feminine, is it that he is not feminine like I am, even though I’m a girl? Or is it that he’s not feminine like feminine people who may include girls who act girly and boys who act girly? It’s a slippery slope going down that road. But if you want to define what femininity means so that I can understand why Stiles would be excluded from that category, please go ahead.
He’s contorted that way to fit into a heteronormative fetishization of a gay relationship, in a manner which conveniently also robs Scott of many, if not most, of his character traits.
This statement is the definition of your fear, in my opinion. When you say “in a manner which conveniently also robs Scott of many, if not most, of his character traits” I’m wondering why you must believe that two people can’t have the same characteristics. There are people who are friends and behave the same way. Contrary to popular belief, it is not only opposites that attract. If Stiles is portrayed as something, there is no rule that says Scott cannot be too.
However, you must be careful so that you won’t be accused of policing fandom behavior. Because even though I’m sure not all Scott Stans are that way, most of you that I’ve interacted with so far are guilty of thinking that you can control how people write and what they want to write. Even if Stiles and Scott are the exact same person in my head, if I’m writing a story about Stiles, then guess what? MY STORY WILL BE ABOUT STILES.
If the show is really about Scott McCall, the Teen Wolf, and I want to write a story about my fave, why would I spend time writing about Scott when he already has a show? Anyone who wants to talk about Scott and how feminine and nurturing he is can go write their own fic and leave me to my delusions.
@princeescaluswords, go easy on the newbie. :P It’s not their fault the BNF Meta Circle sound more logical and reasonable than they actually are and have gotten very good at disguising their anti and racist rhetoric behind a disguise of nitpicky rationality.
Once again, I’ve been accused of not being able to think for myself and that’s okay. I’m sure I seem really stupid because I like a non-canon ship made up of self absorbed white men and I’ve been brainwashed to neglect people of color, even though I’m a person of color. Even though I have witnessed people of your circle nitpick and choose which part of a story they want to tell, I’m supposed to be silly for deciding not to think like you do.
I have watched the show. I have read fanfiction. If I still like fanfiction better, it’s probably because the fanfiction authors do a better job… or maybe the fandom is just full of people capable of interacting with me without calling me silly and expecting me to make informed decisions at the same time.
