Amazon getting along with predominantly kids, at least in the first 13 episodes or so, and in fact having probably his most important side character be a child in Masahiko is a really interesting choice to make for the sort of character Amazon is. Amazon is an adult, he’s still somebody deserving of autonomy or respect (like everyone does including kids but you get what I mean), he doesn’t have a “childlike” worldview really, but he is still someone who due to intense culture shock and growing up without other humans around him, is not Used to the world that people his age deal with daily. He doesn’t understand at least initially the whole song and dance adults do, and they are often people who actively don’t WANT to recognise his perspective and get pissed off because he's not fitting into their preconceptions. Whilst kids can still be cruel, they are often times much more respectful of Amazon and are much more open to the idea of just accepting him for like, Who He Is, and going along with it, or trying to help him navigate a confusing and often extremely cruel world. I don’t think it’s meant to be infantilising, and I think through Masahiko especially, I think the idea is that a youth like him is generally more kinder and empathises better with Amazon's situation- being a child, apart of a group often looked down upon, and which also have to navigate and learn the same scary world- and that through Masahiko, Amazon has a safer and more reliable way of being able to familiarise himself with a world he isn’t accustomed to and to be able to slowly feel more and more comfortable.
