I think that if anyone says someone can’t REALLY be x or y identity just because of their stance on poorly constructed supplementary fan media, then they really need to like… touch grass??

If people don’t like a piece of media that’s literally their business. It’s not a federal issue and it’s not a personal attack either. Calling someone a cishet republican/otherwise invalidating their personal identity, however, IS a personal attack. I don’t get the logic!!
