Museums should have the information about pigments and mediums and varnishes and substrates available to the general public like . We know the conservators know this information!!! I have so many questions that I don’t even know who to email about!!!!!!!
#I have become unsatisfied by “oil on canvas”#post sponsered by me setting off the alarm several times by leaning over the guard rail to get a better look at a Rubens#like I know of oil painters who can tell an exact pigment or resin by looking at something but I will not be there for many years#the best I can do is point out terra verte in the medieval Italian galleries bc it oxidizes like a motherfucker#Jesus will be green
