i need to relisten to wolf359 bc it was YEARS ago so i don't remember much, but i have this specific idea about hera post-canon
i don't remember if they get her onto the escape vessel (im pretty sure they have to? she has the power of navigation being a literal slave station?) but when they get back to earth, in the chaos that ensues, jacobi makes sure to somehow... store hera? only her personality matrix, if that's possible. he could break into the high performance computing cluster of some university and store her in a little known spot, then "break her out" later.
i don't remember how much in character this is (he seemed a bit more chummy with the haephestus crew by this point), but i imagined him building either (1) a robot body (who knows how common that is on earth at this point) or (2) an eyepiece and earpiece for here's personality to exist in, so she can in SOME way go out, see the world and talk to them still once they're off the escape vessel.
i want her to still be with them even when they're not on a ship anymore.
first: you should absolutely relisten! and you should let me know your thoughts, when you relisten. especially if it's been years, i'd be really curious to know if and how your opinions have changed!
thankfully, you remember right - hera does go back with them, and the final scene and sentiment of the show definitely implies that eiffel, hera, and minkowski intend to stick together. they would fight for her to stay with them. which does get potentially complicated, from both a legal and practical standpoint.
(and i won't get into my thoughts about post-canon jacobi here, but i will say... he went to MIT and was friends with maxwell; he's more likely than eiffel or minkowski or lovelace to know people who know people who could maybe help hera. and wolf 359 loves to put characters in situations where they have to rely on people they don't particularly like. they've even done that with jacobi and hera specifically - ep 57. "sure. fine. as long as it's not jacobi doing it, it's fine." cut to jacobi doing it. of course.)
i don't think AI is actually that common in the world of wolf 359; hera is the first AI eiffel and minkowski have met, and even maxwell, working for the "best AI research lab in the country" was unaware of the existence of "full-minded" AI (however that's defined) until she was recruited by goddard in 2013. my impression is that it's, like, something people are aware of, but it's still very detached from the average person's life, and AI personhood is not even a consideration yet. having an android body would definitely make hera... visible, in some ways that she might not like.
maybe worth noting that goddard is also very into biotech, and there's some interesting... overlap with that and the dear listeners' duplicates in terms of what it asks about 'artificiality', in my opinion. wolf 359 is very much a show about humanity, and i think any post-canon extension of those themes would have to be about... learning to be a person on earth, with all that entails, and the way that applies to hera's situation is meaningful to me. all of which is just kind of a rambling way to say, yes, i'm also totally in favor of hera having a body. like, on one hand, because i think there's something to it as a discussion about disability and bodies in general, with the way it would re-contextualize her experiences on the hephaestus and the pain she's been living with - and that a lot of things she experienced without a body and felt were unique to her, she would still experience with one. but i also think it's the best option for her; i really think anything else would by design deny her autonomy and freedom of movement on earth. from a more sentimental standpoint, i just want her to be able to go to a real beach and put her hands in the ocean.

Got tagged by @ultkyu to answer some questions! Thank you dear, I'm so excited for this~🥺💞
1. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
× I'd be a cat, 100%. Cats are my love and my life, I've always wanted to be one, tbh (not in a furry type of way, but I feel like life would be easier if I was a cat, lmao). I love how cats take no shit and do whatever they want. They're very independent and individual and I'm all here for that.
2. What two anime characters or kpop idols are your type?
× Can I do both anime characters and kpop idols??
× As for anime characters, Jaeha from Akatsuki no Yona and Kirito from Sword Art Online are totally my type!!😍
× And in terms of kpop idols... omg,, how am I supposed to *only* name two?? Hmm, thinking about it, I guess not all of my biases are my "type" per se... but there's two that come to mind right now hhhh. One of them is Kevin Moon from The Boyz, he really ticks off (almost) every bullet point in my list for my "ideal type" and honestly, this list is freaking contradictory and has vvv high standards but Kevin is THAT boi, basically my imaginative ideal boyfriend personified. :') And the second one who I'd say is totally my type is Hwang Hyunjin from Stray Kids. I've always loved drawing him the most of all kpop idols and I still do tbh (but I can't fill my feed on my insta art account with JUST Hyunjin drawings,, you know,,,). His fashion!! I'm so here for it and vibe with it so well. Plus,,,idk,,, I feel like I could connect to him in some ways so ajxjsjdjjs yeah. There's just something about him and Kevin that inspires me so much, I really love these two bois.
3. Are there any writers or artists (art or music) that inspire you? If so, list 5.
× YES. I decided to name a few artists because I realize I've never talked about the artists whose artworks inspire me the most. They're all on Instagram, so I'll be naming their @'s
a.) @/shooky_dough: I'm probably not the only one who knows Nikki, hehe, but her art is SO amazing. She's got this really distinct style which I'd put into the category of semirealism. Her kpop fanart is soooo good and I used her tutorials to learn how to get better at sketching. If you look at the sketches I've been posting for the past few months on my insta art account, you'll notice that they're highly inspires by Nikki's art. She's definitely the artist I'm looking at most in terms of inspiration and improving on my own art.^-^
b.) @/angelganev: His art is sooo pretty. He does semirealism and I've found him by browsing through pinterest to find some art inspiration/references/tutorials. He also does drawing contests in which his followers can draw one of his work he selects in their own style and he gives a shout out to the ones he liked best. It's always interesting!!
c.) @/melmadedooks: This man can draw about ANYTHING, he's so talented. He used to draw lots of his 'dooks' and I've found him through seeing some of his works on pinterest (again, lol). I've actually redrawn two of his 'dooks' and posted them to my art account AND HE LIKED BOTH OF THEM, I WAS SO HAPPY OMG!!! He used to draw his dooks using only one coloured pencil, so I've also started experimenting with that and instead of using a graphite pencil, I used coloured pencils for my sketches and those gave off very different vibes that I really liked!!
d.) @/rezajeez: Probably *the* kpop fanartist I've been following for the longest of times. They are AMAZING!! They mainly do huge photorealistic portraits with INSANE details. It's funny actually, because their work is the complete opposite to shooky_dough's work. While Reza draws photorealism on a big surface (probably A3? maybe more??) and draws very detailed, Nikki focuses more on sketches/more semirealistic and "simplistic" art and it's usually drawn quite small, so seeing these opposites really broadens my horizon, I think^^
e.) Last but nor least, @/rossdraws: In my opinion, he's the modern day Bob Ross! His art is so freaking stunning, have you checked out his digital art landscape series?? The amount of talent this man holds in his pinky finger is more than I've got in my whole body like- OOF a huge inspiration to me!!~
4. If you could play any instrument, which would you play?
× The guitar!! I really want to learn how to play it~
5. If you could choose one anime to live in, which one would you choose and why?
× Either Ouran High School Host Club or Your Lie In April. The first one is just so much fun and I'd love hanging out with the host club members and as for the latter,,, I just really want to be here for Kousei and help him through his anxiety because I know so well how it feels like and I also wish I could sing while he plays the piano, we'd be a great duo✊🏻😔 (I'm sorry, I couldn't choose one)
6. This is a bit of an old DeviantArt fic trend, but if you received an Android of your favourite character from any anime/show/etc., who would it be?
× Hmmm... that's a great question omg there's so many amazing choices I could make😭😭 But I think I'd go with Kirito, I just really really love him ahhhhh
7. Is there anything you would like to do but haven't because your friends/family didn't want to do it with you?
× There's actually a few things I could name... first, I really want to go bungee jumping (preferably from the Macau Tower, as it's the highest bungee jump in the world😍) but my fam and friends think I'm crazy for wanting to do this but I'm actually quite an adventurous person which probably not many people know about me, so I love doing stuff like that.✊🏻😂
× I would also really like to travel with friends... it's not that I dislike travelling with my mom and stepdad but whenever I can't take someone with me, I feel like such a child ??? idk,, never travelling (I wanted to say "without adults" but then I realized I AM an adult) on my own with friends and always tagging along with my parents kind of make me feel like I'm not independent or mature/grown-up for it. But I feel like none of my friends want to travel with me... most of them have a travel buddy already but I just... don't akdjsjs
× and last but not least, getting more specific, I really want to travel to Hawaii and South Korea, but so far, I haven't made it there yet :c
8. What's your favourite flower?
× Cherry Blossoms all the way💞 but all flowers are beautiful and I really like roses, too.
9. What are some of your hobbies?
× My hobbies include singing, drawing, dancing, writing, reading, researching astrology, studying Korean, watching youtube videos/netflix, listening to music and OF COURSE DAYDREAMING✊🏻😔
10. If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island with nothing but the clothes on your back and a bag, what would you put in the bag?
× I'd definitely put food and water in the bag, my phone, earphones, a portable solar charger with a USB cable (so that my phone won't die and I could chill for however long I want while watching kpop mv's and then also use my phone to call for someone to rescue me from this island once I start running low on resources), all the books I still want to read, my art supplies and a few sketch books, some towels that I could use to lay on or use as blankets, a pillow and my teddy bear, and obviously a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush and a few hair ties and bobby pins (you don't want long sweaty hair stuck to your skin during a hot summer ewww), some soap to wash myself and my clothes, sunscreen and also some insect spray to keep the bugs away!! (it's a big bag, okay)
~
Sorry for writing such an essay omg!!
Here are my 10 questions:
1. What compliment you've received meant the most to you?
2. Would you rather meet your favourite celebrity/group/bias and realize they're not at all how you imagined them to be like (maybe they're not as kind as you thought, for example) or never meeting them in person but it turning out that they're actually the amazing, kind, sweet, generous, etc. person that you thought they were? (I hope that makes sense hhhh I think the ethics of this question are really interesting)
3. What's your current favourite song you always use to get hyped up to or a song currently stuck in your head?
4. If you had to write the book of your life, what genre would it be and what would you choose as a title?
5. Name your top 5 musical artists and your favourite song of each of them?
6. If you were invited to a big humanitarian event and had to give a speech on a topic you'd want to bring about a huge change for the better, what topic would you choose to speak about and voice your opinions/ideas? (Assume public speaking is one of your strongest assets and you'll ace this no matter what)
7. What is something (a skill, personality trait, or something appearance related, it can be whatever) you wish you had and/or you really admire in other people?
8. What's your favourite anime/show/youtuber (you can answer whichever you got an answer for, it can be all three options of course :D)?
9. In kpop, are you more into vocalists, dancers, rappers, maknaes, leaders, or visuals (or maybe a mix of some/all :'))?
10. What's your most beautiful/favourite memory?
oof I hope these questions will be interesting to answer🥺 hmm, Imma tag @littlefallenrebel @jinniesmeow @softpastelmx @yeonki @hanstagrams @marculees @chrryjin and anyone else who'd like to do this~💞💞💞

Reasons to Ship Markus & North (Marth/Norkus) 03.1
Tumblr media
They're Attached at the Hip
Almost from the moment Markus arrives at Jericho he and North seem to gravitate to each other. While it's true he shows affiliations and bonds with all his advisors/generals (North, Simon, Josh, and Lucy respectively), he and North share a special relationship. They spend the most time together regardless of which route you take (Pacifist, Violent, or Neutral), and almost never leave each other's side. This could be for many reasons. Such as them being selfless, natural born (made?) leaders, driven, unapologetically devoted to rights for their people, innate comfort or trust, or just plain physical attraction. Some of these I've already discussed (others I plan to), so let's delve into the moments of them together. (AKA: Strap in y'all cause this is gonna be a long one)
Tumblr media
Let's begin at the raid on the Cyberlife warehouse, shall we? While they're running towards the building we hear North calling Markus over to her. I'm not quite sure why she wants this newcomer at her side, but she does. Of course, the player doesn't have to follow her. The fact that she insists we do says something about her want for him to be near her. We also see that she protects him from detection using her arm as a block. The devs could have easily given that role to Simon or Josh, but they did not. Proof that even then they're sowing the seeds of a relationship. Jumping ahead a bit we get to Markus having the option to steal a key to get a truckload of biocomponents and blue blood. If you choose to go through with the plan, North eagerly volunteers to join him. When he succeeds she even rides shotgun with him. Again we see this dynamic very early of them wanting to be beside each other all the time. It's interesting and pretty sweet. I do wonder why North wants to be around him this soon. Perhaps it's admiration or that she lowkey liked him already.
Tumblr media
Next is the Stratford Tower broadcast. When Markus hatches a plan Simon and Josh hesitate, North doesn't. She's ready to roll with him whenever. Markus just needs to give the word. This goes briefly back to my last point of her probably already being into or at least in awe of him. During their break in (probably not the right word, but "heist" and "invasion" don't fit either) the first one Markus meets up with is North. He made this plan, so he could've chosen anyone else, but he wanted to work most closely with her. Even the game confirms this should you delve into the extras menu. It says Markus knew "there was only one woman for the job." He likely picks her for these reasons: she's down to ride for the sake of her people regardless of the consequences, she's another leader (see my Reasons to Ship 02 post), and maybe he admires her and likes her in the same way I think she does to him. I mean he checks on her after they scale the building before anything else, and if you as a player make any lapse in judgment she picks up the slack immediately, but I digress.
Tumblr media
There's also the scene where they liberate androids from the Detroit Cyberlife stores. We learn from Markus that he's divided the groups into teams to get the job done. Guess who he picks to go with him? North. As the boss he could choose anyone he wants, and he wants her. During the mission they stick together like glue with North providing much needed backup. She even remarks "What would you do without me?" It's a good question. What would he do without her? Probably be lonelier and lose the person who's essentially his partner in crime. We also see North riding shotgun once again when he steals the truck to break through the glass. I'm starting to think she likes it when he drives, but that's just me. Once the androids are freed we have an option to vandalize the park. Should you be more violent there are some nice Marth/Norkus moments in here. If you choose to destroy the bus stop, Markus struggles a bit until North strolls up from nowhere and chucks a cinderblock through it with a little smirk on her face. There's them working together to push or knock over cars. We also have them scaling the wall to put the revolution symbol on the side of the building. Its a moment that I really enjoy, because I think it fits their characters and their relationship ridiculously well. The two are standing above everyone, watching their dreams of freedom come to reality. It's like they're basking in the moment. They do this mostly in silence as too, which is pretty cool. The king and queen of the revolution staring down at their subjects is a powerful image in my opinion. When all of that is done the cops show up, and the androids flee. Marth/Norkus have a brief dialogue until she leaves him to catch up with the others. Upon hearing gunshots Markus runs to see what happened. There are the bodies of his people lying on the ground, but he hardly glances at those. He makes a beeline right for North. He doesn't check on the fallen, doesn't go to the mass of where the rest of the androids are. North appears to be his first priority. Pretty impressive, since this is one of the few times Markus puts his own emotional needs first. If this doesn't validate North's statement I don't know what will. He'd be lost without his right hand woman.
Tumblr media
We then have their iconic rooftop scene. This moment probably doesn't need much more explanation, but we're here to overanalyze (and it's precious af, how can we not spaz?) Markus clearly went there to be alone and gather his thoughts, but North shows up. She admits she was looking for him. It's really cute, especially since they've only known each other for a day or two. She likes him so much she can't stand to have him out of her sight even for a moment. I know you can be more distant with her, but I don't believe you can directly push her away (correct me if I'm wrong.) This in itself is extremely telling from a writing perspective as well. Based on everything else we've seen, you're meant to be in the camp of this couple and  totally on board with their relationship. Anyhow, Markus allows North into his space, and the two open up to one another. Markus reveals his reservations or confidence about the android rights movement and his past with Carl. We also learn that he kept his past quiet from everyone, and North is the first person he tells. It's a pretty important step, since he does so with minimal hesitation. An even bigger deal is North talking about what happened to bring her to Jericho. It's obvious from the way she talks that she's kept her previous life as well as how it affected her buried. How can anyone blame her? The woman was a sex slave who had her memories wiped every two hours until she had an epiphany that led her to kill a man. I can't pretend to know what victims of sexual assault go through, but I understand it's agonizing. The fact that she trusted Markus enough to tell him something she'd not told anyone else is huge. Especially when it's clear how hard it was for her. North is in tears and is ready to close herself off again the memories were so painful. Before I go on, let me say that if you're a victim of sexual assault, you don't have to tell anyone what happened to you to prove you trust them. You're valid in wanting to keep that part of your life secret or even regretting telling someone about it. Cope however you need to. In the context of the game I'm just saying it's a big deal in terms of North's character. Not for everyone in real life. After this, Markus goes on to comfort her by connecting their palms in a way that allows them to share memories. This is a huge moment. Imagine being comfortable enough with someone to let them see every memory you've ever had. That opens so much room not only for intimacy but to be taken advantage of. North knows this, which is why she flees after the fact.
Tumblr media
Continuing on there's the march. From the moment the four Jericho leaders enter the scene we're greeted by Markus and North standing side by side. It makes sense, as by this point they're official. I still find it adorably amusing that they are so compelled to be beside each other. When confronted by the police they end up being next to each other again. This is the point where I'm sure I'll deviate from some of you, because anytime I play this scene I choose to fight. So if I'm missing anything from the stand your ground option or if you had a different experience, I apologize in advance. Markus leads the charge with his advisors running with him. The battle is harsh and a lot of androids fall, but guess who doesn't? North. She's right with him almost every step of the way. They're covering each other, standing back to back with guns drawn determinedly pushing back their foes until their side is victorious. I could be wrong, but Markus doesn't have this perfectly in sync battle with anyone else. Simon and John can die for him, but as far as I know they don't get a grand scene with him like North does. As a side note, I really screwed this fight up the first time, so North and Markus didn't get the chance to work together like the above. When I saw it on my most recent playthrough the energy was high. Even if you don't ship them how can you not get excited with two warrior friends fighting side by side, perfectly connected for a noble cause? While not a very eloquent way to put it, that scene is so damn cool. It's heart pounding, and we want them to succeed.
I'm sorry this is so big. I wrote an essay, and I'm sorry. That's why I'm cutting it in half. There's so much to talk about. Way more than I planned, and I don't wanna make it a pain to scroll through the tag. The other part will be out in a few days.

Choosing the right technology for your mobile app
Tumblr media
Image Link
Let's assume you're an entrepreneur and you need to get a mobile app assembled.
You connect with a couple of top mobile app development companies in Singapore. They toss some specialized language into the conversation. They can fabricate your iOS and Android apps utilizing the most recent innovations: "Respond Native", "GraphQL", "NodeJS". Perhaps you've heard these terms previously. The cool children like Facebook are utilizing it, so it should be acceptable!
It's valuable to return a stage to see precisely how mobile apps are made. I'll just discuss Android and iOS stages, since they cover about 100% of mobile gadgets. I won't examine the subject of games, which are for the most part worked with various advancements. I likewise won't cover the subject of workers and data sets, which are another situation.
Prepare to gain proficiency with the contrast between:
local mobile apps
Xamarin apps
half and half web apps
half and half local apps
reformist web apps
Before we start, one significant point: "Java" and "JavaScript" allude to two separate dialects. Try not to get confounded when I allude now and again to Java, some of the time to JavaScript. They're probably as close as "vehicle" and "floor covering".
Local mobile apps (Java, Swift)
A local mobile app developed by top mobile app development companies in Singapore is written in the stage's true language:
- for Android: Java or Kotlin
- for iOS (iPhone/iPad): Objective-C or Swift
Notice that there are really two dialects for every stage. That is on the grounds that Java and Objective-C are fairly old dialects (Java appeared in 1995, though Objective-C was made in 1984!). Apple made Swift in 2014 trying to make life simpler for engineers. Google didn't make Kotlin, yet they decided to help it formally in 2017. Utilizing more seasoned dialects isn't really something terrible—they're more steady (Kotlin and Swift are as yet advancing, so your code could quit working later) and they don't run more slow.
As should be obvious, in the event that you need both an Android and an iOS local app, your designers from top mobile app development companies in Singapore should be comfortable with at any rate two dialects.
Your designers will likewise need to comprehend the APIs given by the two stages. What's an API? It means "Application Programming Interface". A similarity may help. The mobile gadget is a body. Your mobile app is the mind. The API is the arrangement of nerves that let them converse with one another. Without it, your application is incapable of busy. Lamentably, Android and iOS apps are inherent altogether different ways, so their APIs are totally extraordinary.
Practically speaking, most local app engineers from top mobile app development companies in Singapore are had some expertise in one or the other Android or iOS. At the point when you recruit an office to create local mobile apps, they will probably utilize two separate designers (or more). You will likewise wind up with two separate codebases, one for Android and one for iOS, each with their own bugs.
Local Xamarin apps
Xamarin is a Microsoft innovation. It takes care of one issue from local apps: the language boundary. Designers can utilize a solitary language (C#) to construct Android, iOS and even Windows apps. Sounds extraordinary, isn't that right? Shockingly, they didn't go similar to addressing the contrasts between the APIs of every stage. I won't accuse them, it's a unimaginable assignment. However, you won't get two apps at the cost of one. Designers will require time to make it work on every stage, in spite of the fact that they will have the option to reuse a portion of the code.
As far as execution, a Xamarin app is identical to a local mobile app.
Half breed web apps (Ionic, Cordova otherwise known as PhoneGap)
From the beginning, individuals got disappointed with the need to assemble a different app for every stage (Android, iOS, and in those days, Windows Phone and BlackBerry). Somebody had a flawless thought: imagine a scenario where we just indicated a website page that resembles a mobile app. This was the beginning of the "Compose once, run anyplace" theory.
Ionic and Cordova let engineers compose website pages that are explicitly intended to be installed into a shell mobile app. They approach highlights, for example, the camera, notices, and so forth They're written in JavaScript and HTML5, the very dialects that any web designer utilizes these days. That is acceptable, in light of the fact that web designers are a lot simpler to discover (and thusly cheaper) than Java, Objective-C, Swift or C# engineers!
One significant issue with these cross breed web apps: they can be moderate, particularly on iOS gadgets. Looking through an extensive rundown for instance can feel jerky. Mobile apps are not improved for showing site pages. Facebook needed to surrender this approach in 2012.
Disclaimer: the last time I took a stab at building a half breed web app was many years back. I've gotten with different engineers that exhibition has improved a great deal from that point forward, so they might merit testing, particularly on the off chance that you need an answer that additionally chips away at the web as well as on work area apps.
Half breed local apps (React Native, Weex, NativeScript, Titanium)
Half breed local apps are a more current classification. They actually use JavaScript, however they at this point don't show a site page to the client. Rather they utilize local code for the interface, which generally addresses the jerkiness issue.
To make that work, they require a "connect" between the JavaScript and local code. The scaffold can be very delayed in more seasoned cross breed local structures, for example, Titanium. These apps may feel too laggy for a client's taste.
Luckily, more current systems, for example, React Native (by Facebook) and Weex (by Alibaba) have tackled the lagginess issue on account of an idea known as "virtual DOM" which lessens the measure of information that necessities to go across the extension. All in all, you won't have the option to tell that the app you're utilizing isn't local.
Albeit these mixture apps are marked as "local", I for one discover the term somewhat tricky: portions of the app are in fact local, however it's constrained by JavaScript, which is for the most part not as performant as local code. However, it is sufficient for most apps developed by top mobile app development companies in Singapore.
Respond Native and Weex are fanning out quickly on the grounds that they depend on React and Vue, two significant web innovations. This implies that a great deal of web designers are currently beginning to fabricate mobile apps. Energizing occasions!
Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
To wrap things up, reformist web apps make up a different class. They are mobile sites that can be introduced on your telephone and become an app. They are fairly progressive since you don't have to visit the Play Store to introduce them. They can do the vast majority of the things that "typical" apps can do, because of the ground-breaking highlights of HTML5. Be that as it may, they are still sites, so they won't generally feel as smooth as a local app.
One proviso: at the present time, reformist web apps must be introduced on Android telephones, so it is anything but a reasonable answer for iOS. Nonetheless, there are solid gossipy tidbits that Apple will before long permit it as well.
Shudder apps
This rundown would not be finished without referencing Flutter. It's an open-source project sponsored by Google which utilizes a totally unique approach from all the other things I've referenced up until this point. It utilizes the Dart language, which is gathered to low-level local code to guarantee elite. It delivers the interface with its own equipment quickened innovation, so it doesn't experience the ill effects of similar issues as electronic apps.
While Flutter is a promising innovation, it's initial days and supposedly, no significant Google app utilizes it.
Picking an innovation
Since we've taken a gander at the various kinds of mobile apps developed by top mobile app development companies in Singapore, which one would it be a good idea for you to pick?
It's difficult to say, however here is my own stubborn guide:
Start with a half and half local app, unmistakably dependent on React Native or Weex. They're simpler and quicker to work than local apps. You will profit by a quickly developing populace of designers and a solid environment.
In the event that you truly care about execution, assemble a local app, however start with a solitary stage (Android or iOS). It's much quicker to emphasize on one local app than two. Keep in mind, each app will have its own code and along these lines its own bugs. There is nothing of the sort as an app without any bugs.
Keep away from half breed web apps (Ionic, Cordova) except if you need to likewise deliver your app as a site. Half and half local apps give a smoother experience in general.
Watch out for PWAs. When Apple gadgets uphold them, they will be the new fierceness. They may likewise be cheaper to work than different kinds of mobile apps, since they're simply sites.
Try not to utilize Flutter. It won't be full grown for some time and it has a little designer local area.
I don't think enough about Xamarin and its local area to offer an educated input. So I'll offer you an ignorant input: don't utilize it.

How Apple Card works
One of the most buzzy announcements on Apple’s stage this week was Apple Card, its in-house credit card powered by Goldman Sachs and Mastercard. Consumers, tech press, financial press and Wall Street were all intrigued for various reasons.
But there are still a ton of questions around the way it works mechanically, the terms involved for consumers and its overall benefits. Though I’m not a financial reporter, I did used to cover payments and I’m a huge points hound. Some of the benefits (and caveats) of Apple Card are worth examining a bit more.
In some ways, Apple getting into the credit card game was one of the tech world’s biggest finally’s. Once Apple launched Passbook, it became extremely clear that it was headed towards this end game, with stops along the way for loyalty cards, coupons, external credit cards and ticketing.
This week, we got to see what Apple thinks is a solid ‘version 1’ of its credit card offering. Yes, this is a V1, and Apple is going to be iterating on the concept with new features and benefits.
The basics
The basics of Apple Card are pretty straightforward. We’ve already posted the basics here so I won’t go over them at length. It’s a virtual card and physical card that can be used for both regular and Apple Pay purchases at any place Mastercard works. The app companion categorizes purchases automatically, shows you where they were made and has a design that makes it easy for you to see interest charges, spending and cash back. The physical card offers 1% cash back, the virtual card offers 2% cash back on Apple Pay purchases and 3% back on purchases of Apple products. The cash back is delivered daily to your Apple Cash balance or to the card monthly as a credit balance if you don’t have or want an Apple Cash account.
But beyond those basics, there are still a lot of questions about some aspects of the way the card works. Here are some interesting bits.
Activating a physical Apple Card will happen with a tap of the iPhone to the card. The activation takes place with a pop up view of the card and an activation button, similar to the pairing process of AirPods. You can see signs of this in the current beta.

There is no penalty interest rate on Apple Card. There have been some reports that Apple Card will charge penalty rates, largely due to some required regulatory legalese. Penalty rates are an increase of your interest rate if you fail to pay on time. That is not true. Apple Card has no late fees and no penalty rates. You will continue to pay your agreed upon interest rate on your outstanding balance, but that rate will not go up. It will impact your credit score, as Apple does do standard reporting, but neither Apple nor Goldman Sachs will increase your rate due to late payment.
Apple will place Apple Card users at the low end of their interest rate tier. While Apple Card’s interest rates fail to break the mold in any major way (they are roughly between 13-24%), Apple will place users who sign up at the lower end of the tier that they land in due to their credit score. This isn’t some incredible re-imagining of how to offer credit or an intensely low interest option, but it could shift you to the bottom of a tier when you qualify instead of paying a few points higher at your ‘exact’ score.
You can pay your balance via ACH from a bank account or via Apple Cash. Apple Cash is not required to pay your bill, though cash back earned or any other money you have in there can go towards your balance if you desire.
Apple Card does not require or display signatures. Neither the physical card nor the app will display a signature. A network change a few months ago means that signatures are not required at point of sale for any credit cards. Though some stores may still ask to see ID, lack of a signature anywhere within Apple Card’s system shouldn’t be a roadblock to using it.
The physical Apple Card does not support contactless payments. If you’ve got a tap terminal, you’re supposed to use Apple Pay.
Perhaps the biggest security feature of the offering is that Apple Card can generate virtual card numbers for online non-Apple Pay purchases. Though Apple said that the app would display your card info during the event, they weren’t specific on what that info would be so I got some more detail here.
The physical Apple Card, of course, has no number. The app displays the last 4 digits of the card number that is on the mag stripe of the card only, you never see the full card number.
Instead, Apple provides a virtual card number and virtual confirmation code (CVV) for the card in the app. You can use this for non-Apple Pay purchases online or over the phone. This number is semi-permanent, meaning that you can keep using it as long as you want.
But you can hit a button to regenerate the PAN (primary account number), providing you with a new credit card number at any time. This is great for situations where you are forced to tell someone your credit card number but do not necessarily completely trust the recipient.
Card numbers are manually regenerated only, and do not automatically rotate. There is, currently, no single-use number support or single-merchant number support.
Each purchase requires a confirmation code, a fantastic additional security feature outlined by Zack Whittaker earlier in the week. This makes it even harder for someone to use your card, even if skimmed or copied, to make online purchases.
I use a virtual card service called Privacy for transactions online where I don’t know the person or company that the number is going to well. Several banks and credit card companies like Bank of America and Citi also offer virtual card numbers currently. Apple Card, though, will doubtless be the largest body of consumers to ever have easy access to a virtual card number with an easy to use interface and will expose many more people to the concept.
If you use Apple Card for a subscription or ongoing service, by the way, it’s possible you’ll have to re-enter your info if you regenerate your card — though many, many retailers — especially if they have ‘Card on File’ systems already use account updater services. These services can pull the new number from Mastercard to make sure that recurring payments remain in place and Apple Card members will have nothing to do.
The physical card has a fixed number on the mag stripe, but you don’t know what it is. It’s important to note that the number you have in the app and the number that are on the mag stripe can be totally different and it doesn’t matter. You’ll only really know the last 4 digits of your PAN on the physical card. If your card gets lost or stolen you can get replacement cards for free, and you can easily freeze the card with the app in case of theft or fraud.
Because of the way it is set up, every purchase with Apple Card requires biometric identification aside from purchases with the physical card. That goes for Apple Pay and non-Apple Pay purchases online. I personally think it would be cool to optionally require a confirmation from your phone to let a charge go through, but that is likely a v2 situation.
When you get Apple Card the virtual PAN is pushed to auto fill in Safari. So when you sign up you’re going to automatically have access to the virtual card number Apple generates for you on Safari on iOS and Mac. It will just be there for you to use.
Replacement cards are free. Some people were worried that the flashy titanium cards would be expensive to replace. There is no fee.
There is currently no provision for multiple users or shared cards. For now, it’s one card per person, per account.
The exchange rate for foreign transactions is determined by Mastercard. There are no foreign transaction fees, but the rate of exchange is network determined, not a fixed rate or foreign currency.
Apple Card users must have two factor authentication set up to sign up.
Using Apple Card on Android is useless. This is kind of silly but people asked me. You can’t sign up for or administrate most of Apple Card’s features on Android — but if you were to switch to Android you could continue using your physical card and paying your bill — but without the majority of the cash back or security benefits why would you?
Goldman Sachs will not sell data for marketing purposes. This was on the keynote slide but there were some additional questions about it. The data that they see can be used for internal reporting but cannot be used for external or internal marketing or advertising. That goes for third parties as well. Though some regulatory or operational partners will need to see or transmit some data, all of that must be related to operating Apple Card only, not marketing or advertising.
Why cash back? There were definitely some questions that I got as well about Apple going cash back only. My assumption, which has been backed up by those I’ve spoken to, is that Apple wanted the simplest, most universal benefit structure — and that is cash. Points are by nature relatively opaque and can vary from day-to-day in value on the dollar. For this initial offering, Apple wanted to offer a straight cash benefit that can be accessed nearly immediately, transferred to a bank or spent like cash. Though the cash back is relatively competitive, it is not the highest percentage in the industry.
Apple Pay stuff. This is more Apple Pay than Apple Card stuff but some quick notes on the transit offerings coming to Pay.
The number of vehicles and transit systems supported will vary by operator.
Portland will include subways and busses, as will Chicago.
Chicago will support open loop and Ventra Card systems. Portland is a closed loop system.
New York will pilot Apple Pay on a couple of lines in the spring and then roll out to additional lines throughout the rest of the year.
Overall the Apple Card has some relatively unique and interesting takes on data transparency for users, who are getting what appears to be an information rich but easy to interpret interface that rivals the best apps (like the AMEX app) out there for consumer cards. It’s also got a solid set of security features that are missing only a couple of small improvements like per-merchant or per-transaction numbers that would make them the best offering in the industry.
With what are bound to be record low customer acquisition costs and a self-selected group of higher end customers, Apple Card is probably going to be a fairly solid hit for Apple. I just hope they continue to iterate for additional versions of the program.

Samsung Wants You to Love the Galaxy Fold… But Not to Buy It
Samsung
It’s finally here! Samsung’s folding-screen phone, the Next Big Thing that will ignite the imaginations and empty wallets all over the smartphone world! Or, more probably, not. The Galaxy Fold is an aspirational device, like a flagship supercar or an ultra-rare luxury watch. It’s the phone you drool over, but not the one you buy. Samsung knows this—it’s hard to imagine that they don’t, with a price tag that makes even Apple’s most expensive iPhone look cheap by comparison. And they’re fine with it. Because the Galaxy Fold is a massive gamble from one of the only phone manufacturers that can make it. And however this product cycle plays out, Samsung wins.
Buying the Mustang
Samsung gave the Galaxy Fold pride of place in its pre-Mobile World Congress press event, with both the event’s tagline and the lead position secured for the daring new design. But it isn’t the one that Samsung is actually invested in: that is, obviously, the Galaxy S10. Look no further than the presenters if you need evidence. The Galaxy Fold was introduced by a vice president of the marketing department. But when Samsung CEO DJ Koh came out, brandishing a brief demo of the Galaxy Fold hardware, it was the Galaxy S10+ that he personally introduced.
Samsung’s CEO personally introduced the Galaxy S10+, not the Galaxy Fold. Samsung
That’s because, this year as every year, Samsung’s going to sell a hell of a lot of Galaxy S phones. Even with the alarming price increases (roughly in step with Samsung’s only major competitor, Apple), carrier promotions and financing options will ease the financial pain of that cool new model. But even someone who might be able to justify a $1000 hit to their budget would be reticent to double it for the Fold. Want more evidence? The Fold uses a tiny (by modern standards) 4.6-inch front screen, presumably so small on such a large device because Samsung needed every cubic millimeter to cram in other hardware around that interior hinge and massive screen. And even so, the Galaxy Fold isn’t getting the best of Samsung’s newest doohickeys, aside from its massive interior screen. Ultrasonic fingerprint reader integrated into the screen? Nope, it has a side-mounted reader, like a phone from eight years ago. Reverse wireless charging that can give your Galaxy Buds a boost? Nope, not mentioned at all. While the S10 has a maximum of a terabyte of onboard storage, the Galaxy Fold is limited to 512GB, despite a massive 12GB of RAM. The phone doesn’t even get the Galaxy S10’s signature new feature, the “hole punch” for the camera—the interior screen just uses a massive cutout for its dual cameras.
Samsung
So what does all of this mean? It means that Samsung isn’t concerned with making the Galaxy Fold the be-all, end-all smartphone in every possible measure. Because it doesn’t need to be. The S10+ plus is the phone they’re marketing to enthusiasts, to people who want something on par with (or better than) the latest iPhone or Pixel. By contrast, the Galaxy Fold is a classic aspirational product: the one you want on everyone’s mind, even if no one can afford it. Or even justify it. Think about this in terms of cars. If you’re a car buff, you know about the Ford GT, the Dodge Viper, the Nissan “Skyline” GT-R. Those are the cars you drool over, maybe even take a test drive of the dealership’s loaner if you’re feeling daring. But even if you could scrape together the monthly payments, you know you’d regret it the first time you tried to actually put a full load of groceries in the trunk, or the third time you filled up the gas tank in a week. If you want something fun but at least somewhat sane, you buy the Mustang, or the Challenger, or (perish the thought) the Maxima sedan. The supercar is the one in the dealer window that gets you in the building. But it’s not the one you’re actually going to buy.
Ford wants you to drool over that GT…but it knows you’ll buy the Mustang instead. Ford Performance
So it is with the Galaxy Fold. This will be Samsung’s headline device in 2019, the one you’ll see in multiple commercials around September and October to get you thinking about how innovative and futuristic the brand is. And it’ll work: you won’t see anything like it for quite a while. But with a price tag basically twice that of a standard high-end phone, a thickness that will barely slip into your pocket, and the dubious utilitarian upside of a small Android-powered tablet, Samsung knows you’re not actually going to buy one.
The Galaxy Fold is for Bragging Rights
With the smartphone market sagging and profits down as users either balk at high prices or simply keep their older phones longer, there are only two companies that can make phones as outrageous and advanced as the Fold right now. Apple didn’t, because that’s not how Apple operates. Apple, for all its boasts of innovation and genius, is conservative: it has gentle, stable evolution of hardware. And Samsung did make the Fold—because that’s not how Apple operates. https://youtu.be/7r_UgNcJtzQ Samsung, with its market leading position by volume and its relative safety, can afford to make the Fold, even knowing it’s not going to be the money-maker that the S10 will. And it’s the only player in the Android game that can. OnePlus can’t blow hundreds of millions of dollars on research and development for a new form factor. Neither can Samsung’s in-country rival LG, or even the quickly-rising Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi gaining huge profits on a growing market. Google could probably afford it, but like Apple, they’re relatively conservative in terms of pure hardware. Samsung isn’t conservative. As yesterday’s presentation pointed out, they bet big on big phones with the original Galaxy Note, and started a trend that even Apple followed before too long. They’ve pushed now-standard features like AMOLED displays, wireless charging, and water-resistant bodies long before it was clear that there would be a demand for them. Samsung takes the risk. And though it doesn’t always pan out—how long did it take the company to finally admit that premium Android tablets weren’t going to come back to life?—it does mean they deserve the credit.
Samsung
So imagine that the Fold will flop, and that Samsung is aware that this is a strong possibility. Say the Fold doesn’t sell a tenth of the units that this year’s Galaxy S and Note models do. That’s okay. Even if the Fold is a critical and commercial failure, it’s worth the money to maintain Samsung’s position as a purveyor of daring design (at least by the standards of its closest competitors). Having that dazzling shot of the phone unfolding in a season’s worth of NFL commercials will be worth every penny spent bringing the product to market.
This Will Go One of Two Ways
But let’s assume for a moment that the Galaxy Fold does succeed. If it does, a remarkable conjunction of circumstances will need to occur. First, Samsung needs to absolutely nail the hardware. For a first-gen product in a brand new form factor, this seems unlikely. For all of Samsung’s boasting of “ten years of Galaxy S” at the presentation, the first two generations of Galaxy S phones were forgettable at best, and just plain awful at worst. Remember Google’s first forays into Android-powered phones, Microsoft’s original Surface, or even the first-gen iPhone with its 2G connection? Big changes mean big risks, and usually big mistakes. With that huge polymer-based display and oddly-shaped AMOLED screens, I doubt Samsung is even making these things at anything approaching its normal volume—note that it’s releasing six weeks after the Galaxy S10 trio.
Sasmung
If Samsung can pull a rabbit out of a hat there, they’ll also need to nail the software. This seems a little more likely, as they have the help of Google working with the latest versions of Android to handle multiple screens and folding screens elegantly. The demonstrations were certainly impressive, with apps transitioning seamlessly between two screens and working in a multi-panel interface. But don’t forget that they’ll also need developers, both of major apps like Facebook and Spotify and the smaller, more personal apps that users rely on, to take notice. And lastly, Samsung would need consumers to get excited in a big, big way. With a starting price of $1980, even more for the promised 5G version, Samsung’s marketing department would need a miracle worthy of an Old Testament prophet in order to get buyers lining up around the block for the Galaxy Fold. There was nothing in yesterday’s demo that showed why a very large but somewhat clunky screen, paired to a much smaller and less appealing one that you’d be using a lot of the time, would be worth two or three times the price of the phones we’re already comfortable with. Hey, Samsung: my phone already plays Netflix and works with Google Maps, and using three apps at once instead of “just” two isn’t worth a down payment on a car.

How Does Sleep Cycle Determine Sleep Quality
The following post How Does Sleep Cycle Determine Sleep Quality was originally published on Perspectief Blog
When you go to sleep, your brain and body do much more than simply enter ‘shutdown’ mode. Instead, there are five different stages of sleep that you go through during the average 7 to 9 hours of sleep that most of us need. You’ll experience some of these stages multiple times during a single night. At least that’s what should happen. The problem comes when you don’t experience every sleep cycle, or you don’t spend an adequate amount of time in each one.
A Brief Sleep Cycle Definition
The first stage of sleep is light stage sleep. This occurs right after you doze off and only lasts for a few minutes. The second stage is also a relatively light stage of sleep. To give some perspective, a power nap could be used to describe a sleep session that only involved the first two stages. It’s during the next two stages that move into a deep sleep. Finally comes REM sleep. This is where you dream and get your most restful sleep. During an ideal sleep cycle, you will experience this five or six times.
Deviating From Normal Sleep Cycle Patterns
If you don’t experience the various sleep cycles like you should, you may feel fatigued and find it difficult to concentrate. Your performance at work or school can suffer. You might even be at higher risk for being involved in a traffic accident. Spending time in each phase is important, so is sleep cycle length.
So, how do you fix that? Is it possible to learn how to reset your sleep cycle? As it turns out, there’s a sleep cycle alarm clock for iPhone or Android that claims to do just that.
How Does The Sleep Cycle App Work?
Your smartphone contains an accelerometer. This is the device that detects movement and rotation. The app tracks your movements to determine where you are in the sleep process. Then, it wakes you when it determines you are in the optimal place in your ‘wake up’ stage. Depending on your personal needs, you can set that stage to be anywhere from 10 to 90 minutes.
There’s another way to use the app. This involves placing it on your nightstand. If you use this option, the app will use the microphone for motion detection rather than the accelerometer.
Imagine that you set your alarm for 7:00 AM. With a standard alarm, you would simply begin to hear your alarm at that time. With the REM sleep cycle alarm, it’s a bit a different. Let’s say you set the wake up stage for twenty minutes. The app would monitor your sleep pattern, and wake you anytime between 6:50 and 7:10. While it may not seem pleasant being woken ten minutes early, in reality you’ll actually feel better being woken during light sleep at 6:50 than during a heavy cycle at 7:00.
There’s more to it than that, but this pretty clearly explains how the alarm works. We’ll cover the other features below.
Sleep Cycle App Review
In addition to being an alarm clock, the Sleep Cycle app also monitors your sleep, collects data, and then presents that information to you. The idea is to give you some insights into how you slept overnight.
How Data Collection Works During The Average Sleep Cycle
Keep in mind that this is not a medical monitoring device. You won’t get the same accuracy from this as you would a sleep study conducted by a professional. Still, it does give you some information worth knowing.
When you go sleep, you place your phone next to your pillow. As you sleep, it detects movements. These are then included in a graph that will give you a pretty good idea of your sleep patterns. You’ll know when you were asleep, in a deep sleep, or awake during each sleep period. The app then assigns an overall percentage rating the quality of your sleep. You’ll also learn the specific amount of time that you spent in bed.
How to Use Sleep Cycle Chart Data
You can use the data you get from the app for multiple purposes. The first is simply for your own education. As you use the app over time, you’ll begin to be able to answer questions such as, ‘how long are sleep cycles, when I wake up feeling rested?’
As you learn what a normal sleep cycle graph looks like to you, it becomes easier to identify issues. You can then look at different lifestyle factors to see if there is any sort of pattern that’s causing sleep disruptions. For example, you might find that poor sleep coincides with intense workouts very close to bedtime. Once you know, you can make adjustments.
This app can also be your first line of defense in helping you to identify more serious issues with your sleep. Imagine that your sleep cycle graph shows that you wake dozens or more time each night. This could be indicative of a serious sleep disorder like obstructive sleep apnea. To be clear, this is no diagnostic tool, and no substitute for medical care. However, it can give you some useful information to take to your healthcare provider.
Over time, you’ll begin to establish a baseline. Everyone’s sleep patterns are slightly different, so it’s good to know what your normal is. It’s not enough to answer how long is a sleep cycle in general terms. Instead, you can use the app to figure out your own norms.
Ease of Use
This app is exceptionally easy to use. The developers provide pretty clear instructions. Even without these, it’s intuitive enough to figure this out.
One thing that we did note during our research was that a few users had some complaints about the apps accuracy. There were a few claims that the app seemed to record movement when there was none, such as when the phone was left in an empty room.
While we have no way to refute these claims, we can say that we tested for this condition specifically. Our findings were that this did not happen to us. While probably not perfect, this app does seem to be fairly accurate.
Who Needs a Sleep Cycle Alarm
If you consistently sleep through your alarm, or wake feeling out of sorts, this app could be very beneficial to you. Because it finds the ideal time to wake you up, you’re likely going to have a much easier time. You won’t be jolted awake unpleasantly, and you won’t feel disoriented. If you know you’ve been having sleep issues, this app could be your first line of defense in getting to the bottom of it.
New Snore Detection Feature
The developers of the Sleep Cycle alarm have recently added a snore detection feature. As you may already know, snoring can disrupt your sleep as well as the sleep of those living with you. It can also be a sign of a much more serious issue. The app will now tell you if you’ve been snoring. You can decide whether or not you want to pursue the issue further with helpful snoring treatments.
Final Thoughts
We think this app is well worth a trial run. The alarm clock works significantly better than standard alarms. When you add in the data and insights, this becomes a pretty useful tool.
