I feel like "A Fandom" has begun mainstream and i think that was a bit detrimental to fanspaces at large
#im thinking of the idea of someone joining a fandom to be a bnf or try and 'win' at being a fan#does that makes sense?#i feel like today fandom promotes hopping from big fandom to next and idk if thats all that healthy for A Fandom at large#like i feel back in the day being apart of a fandom means sticking close to something and being a fan for a extended amount of time#and now its like... i dunno. i feel this is a rambly 'back in my day' kinda post#its just. fandoms use to feel more permanent than it is right now and i kinda miss that#i think this stems from rapid consumerism of The Public and the realization that there is a market to fandoms yknow#like 50 shades being a twilight fic. that one reylo book. the commonness of fanfics turning to movies and books and such#its just.... aughhhhh#i wanna go back to fics being a labor of love and people creating out of joy removed from the idea of getting famous#i guess thats what im trying to say
