I have to admit I laughed pretty hard about biffing multiple notes in songs due to not being used to the rift S’s tracking yet and still flinging myself into new high scores due to the new “precise” scoring system in Beat Saber’s latest patch.

#lightsaber ddr straight to hell #'biffing' is 'screwing up' it's just another one of my weird non-word word substitutions #I don't remember where I got it or when I started saying it #I played a song I hadn't played in quite a while and I actually flung myself into first place on the leaderboard #which is genuinely bizarre #ironically boxvr seems to be helping my shoulders because they don't hurt quite as badly as they usually do after a long while of playing #had to take a wiggle break from writing my back was freaking out and I needed to move #I need to figure out a different spot to work in to keep my back from doing what it's doing

Okay, of all the things I was not at all expecting to make me emotional today, watching an in-game replay of me getting a full count and third place rank on the leaderboards for a song in Beat Saber is at the top of the list.

#lightsaber ddr straight to hell #it's Face My Fears mapped by BennydaBeast #who's almost indisputably the best dance-y mapper out there right now #but I'm not sure why it made me emotional #watching it I just got that big rush of 'wow look at that look what I can do now' feeling #like for years the joke has been that I'm not coordinated and my reflexes are sort of screwed up from head blows and med brain burning #and even though it's learning patterns and maps like all my favorite things it can be hard for me to execute on it #so actually getting to watch such a successful run of that map made me really happy #whoever added whatever it was to add in-game replays on your top scoring runs to the leaderboard needs to be given a thousand dollars #it's really cool because you can download other people's runs too!#I watched a guy absolutely kill a map my shoulders aren't up to and it was fantastic

If there’s a better example of me performing well out of sheer indignant spite than me looking at an A rank on a song I haven’t played in a while, getting miffed, and immediately getting a SS rank on playing it again, I haven’t found it yet.

Man, this week is the release of the first official song pack for Beat Saber, and if on the very, very, very off chance that there’s real maps for Starset in there somewhere, I will completely lose my shit.

It’s always really nice to hit the top ten on the scoreboard on my first try of a song, especially on a bad knee day.

It took me most of the day because I’m super finicky and I still have some tweaks to make in terms of note placement and such, but I am really really happy with how this map turned out.

Tonight I discovered the “go faster” modifier in Beat Saber, and I simultaneously discovered that the modifier works on custom songs.

POP/STARS sped up is a fucking riot to play.

The custom map for Bastille’s Pompeii is unexpectedly my favorite download of the night.

Whoever did the mapping on the two Starset songs available on Beat Saver should go sit in a corner and rethink their choices, they are both so bad that I’m contemplating learning how to create maps just for Starset.

While I think it is incredibly cool for the Beat Saber developers to actually get POP/STARS into the game legally with its own kickass platform/map area and a pretty fun set of maps, I will say I sorely wish they had picked other colors for the song’s sabers.

Like...not gold-orange and soft purple...please...

I made this literally because my old map made me so angry to look at that I couldn’t deal with it anymore. Yeah, I need more songs to exercise to, but of all my old maps, Telepathic frustrated me most.
