The Light Shop being the parallel to a hospital, ICU in particular, is kind of mindblowing to me. It's genius in the most bizzare way. Both as a transit spot for souls detached from their bodies. Both guarded places that will ask whoever is visiting without any appointment to make sure the visitor have a solid purpose to even enter at all. Both the brightest place to reach to through possibly darkest paths in some souls lives. One warms the freezing cold and the other drains the warmth out while also attaching lines of life support until it's time to depart. They're both never the place to let go, forever, despite remaining as two consistent places full of lights for as long as time allows them to, until they welcome another one of the lost ones

Light Shop (조명가게) K- drama - A short review:
Tumblr media
I had kept this drama in the backseat because I read that one of the themes of this show was Horror, and it is not a genre I prefer.
But I started watching the show yesterday out of instinct and curiosity and I have to say that it was a good decision to do so. To all those who are contemplating watching this show, I would recommend to please give it a shot, because this show is truly well made.
This mystery show with little elements of horror is about a group of strangers with different experiences who briefly encounter a "Light Shop" located at the end of a dark alleyway.
Tumblr media
Based on a webtoon by author Kang Full, this show starts off in a slower pace with an intriguing narrative that raises so many questions in the first-half. But if we continue watching, it unfolds into an emotional, moving story that introduces us to the aspects of life we may never have given so much thought about. The story is conceptualized so well using beautiful metaphors, laced in a mysterious aura that keeps us hooked throughout the show.
Tumblr media
The actors did a wonderful job in portraying their painful emotions having gone through such harrowing pasts. Ju Ji Hoon is one of the actors that I absolutely admire, his performance in Kingdom totally left an impression in me! He is the reason I started this K-drama and I am so glad I did because it engaged me a lot. Being in a bad place mentally and emotionally, this show came at a perfect time, teaching me and showing me things that somewhat soothed my pain and encouraged me to hold onto some hope.
It is truly an underrated show, and it gave me a new perspective towards certain things. I hope you all check it out too! 🤍

Finished watching Light Shop yesterday and it’s still rolling around in my brain.
It’s an 8-episode K-Drama on Hulu/Disney, with each episode under 45 minutes. It’s classified as a mystery/horror show, a genre I tend to avoid, but I’m glad I got through all 8 episodes, because the payoff despite one night of bad dreams was worth it.
The first four episodes are pretty scary. No jump scares, but the director does a great job building up tension and anxiety in viewers, and actor portrayals of pure terror, helplessness and feeling trapped sold the experience.
But the tone shifts from episode 5, and it becomes more somber and tragic. There’s a lot to cry about; the show and relationships are well written and heart-achingly bittersweet.
It’s a slow burn show where they don’t give everything away until you’re over halfway in, but it’s only 8 episodes long and worth hanging around to finish, and the reveal makes it much more poignant than anything I’d ever expect a horror-genre show to have

SO FASCINATING that the detective has been carrying his own light from the very start, which means he's been fated or chosen by the (in-between) afterlife to be the next guardian so the one who's been guiding him to the light shop can finally cross over

I think …it’s the beings in the alley we have to watch out for…none of the other schoolgirls actually interacted with her..aside from that one time when the other school girl was sleeping…but then she also saw the other ghost girl? I’m so confused
I need next week’s episode to try and make sense of things (or get more confused, lol)
But the girl, Hyunju. She's not in the ward... And she's not one of those alleyway Entity so what is she. And those other schoolgirls
I think my mistake is I've categorized them in in some boxes when I'm not even sure what they really are

Light Shop Review. Must Watch!!
Just finished watching 'Light Shop' that 8 episode drama was just what I needed. It has a good blend of a horror/mystery element sprinkled heavily with emotional characters and there connected storyline. All of them are connected in some tragic way. I hope Lee Jung-Eun wins a award for her performance. Having no lines like 90% of the drama and she just delivered such a emotional performance.
I will give flower when flowers are due and I must say this drama showed Seol Hyun in a different light. For some reason I kept confusing her with Son Na-Eun. I was kinda put off watching this cause I was confusing these two girls and thought SNE had this role and (that girl can't act for shite). I did watch Seol Hyun in Summer strike which I liked but I guess I was more focused on the mind boggling hate this girl got simply cause she moved in to get away only to be bullied by everyone an blamed for a death that had nothing to do with her....(deep inhale) Anywayzzzz she did a very good job she showed her range in this and the ending of that last episode..BAAABBBYYYYYYY she a Diva, she is a ROCKSTAR!
Hunty, she wasn't just sad, she was bitter, mad as hell and vengeful and honestly it's just. I truthfully felt like Hyun Min mother should have gotten like some really good karma her way cause she really is the one at fault. Who the hell tells a distraught girlfriend who for one witnessed the traumatic accident and was going to break up with him because of the MOTHER that her boyfriend is dead and he died because of her. Excuse me?!??!!?
Tumblr media
Love me some Um Tae Goo the minute I heard he was going to be in this I was ready to watch even tho I was confusing SH with SNE. Park Bo young yet again chooses another great drama to star in. I always look forward to what she start in.
If you don't have this put on your watchlist do it now! For some potential watchers that might ask is it scary? or does it have a happy ending? It's not jump scare scary but it is creepy in some episodes. It does have a good ending. (Yes I know I said good and not happy) I also love that everything is tied up there are no loose ends.

The way I went from watching Ju Ji Hoon in Light Shop to Love Your Enemy is just wild 😂 He has spectacular range! ♥️
Seeing him in a lighter, funnier role for the first time and it's a blast 😆
