watched a video on someone sneaking rekrap undercover on an smp he 'owned' while others didnt know it was him (except for 2 other people) and enjoyed it. then a few minutes later got rekrap's video on it where he talked about it, his experience and how it felt recommended and watched that.
its really fun to see it from both perspectives, rek being treated as someone else and not just the youtuber he is. well, people knew he was someone else, but they didnt know it was him, exactly. to them he was mostly just another person, but to 4c and the other people with rek that knew he was rek. i mean. yeah they knew it was him. but it's so interesting to see how…. yeah, they're really just people. it was so interesting to hear rekrap describe it as just becoming friends with the people as he got to know them because they treated him as just another person and not all "omg youre rekrap i love your videos :o"
i dunno. to me it's really interesting to see how people treat someone when they don't knwo its someone they look up to and how it just makes it so obvious that theyre just normal people like everyone else, just like someone you're friends with. listening to rek talk about it too was so interesting. i always find stuff like this so fascinating
i mean, another example (kinda) is. most people know clownpierce from like, lifesteal, deadliest player etc etc. well in the newest season one of his friends that werent in the prior seasons is there now, but like, that friend is someone who (by her own words) is bad at pvp, unlike a majority* of the rest of the lifesteal cast. and hell she knows he's just a big dork (again her own words)
and it's so interesting to see her view of clownpierce when playing lifesteal vs others, because they're so distrusting of him in lifesteal (of course theyre all great friends behind the scenes) so they end up villainising him, whether accidentally or subconsciously, or intentionally (with no malicious intent of course, it's lifesteal afterall), due to past seasons but she knows who he is as a person and knows that he's not just the lifesteal villain or whatever, so she trusts him way more than the other lifesteal members.
i dunno. im rambling. i find stuff like this interesting, the way people think of and treat eachother depending on context is so fascinating. i suppose it's because i have my own experience in this, kinda, being a rw artist on tumblr with a decent(?) following, and how people were (by their own words) either scared/anxious, intimidated or both by interacting with me, before i follwoed them back or they got to know me as just the dumbass catbeast that i am
