A girl who has everything

Perception is a funny thing. We see everyone's life through rose tinted glasses. How is their life so perfect? full of adventure, love, and success.

Well mine isnt. Or at least that's where my thoughts are at.

I have everything right? A successful husband and soul mate of near 15 years, leading a life of adventure across the otherside of the world, A home, a car and a job I love but yet I have a son who knows nothing of my motherland that sadly 7 years on I still long for & an extended family he has never "truly" met.

My issue is I long for my old life, I long for going up town and heading to the local markets. I miss going to the big city for a shopping spree dash, I miss thinking can I really afford that? but getting it anyway.

but is that just an excuse as to why I feel so numb. would I feel this way if all those "normal" things were still normal. yes I probably would and I would just blame something else. (lack of money, adventure.....)

I think my point here is be kind always. Everyone is fighting their own battle. A battle of just getting out of bed every morning.

If you too are feeling down I just want you to know it's normal and while it doesn't feel like it. This too shall pass! x

My strategy to move forward is to get my head in a better space through gratefulness and recognizing each moment for what it is. For bashing my stress levels on the head with exercise. All ideas gratefully received!

Hoje completo um ano que cheguei em Auckland - NZ! Nessa semana pensei bastante sobre tudo que aconteceu nesse tempo e percebi que mts sinapses foram formadas!! Sério, vivi na mesma cidade durante 27 anos, conheço cada cantinho, cada restaurante, todas as linhas de buzão e mts pessoas😁😁!! Já tinha viajado, mas por pouco tempo. Dessa vez realmente o meu cérebro teve que se adaptar em um lugar novo, abrir mapas, aprender a falar, aprender andar a pé sem ser atropelada, aprender dirigir na mão inglesa, viver com o namo, aprender a cozinhar e mt mais... É verdade que a melhor coisa é deixarmos de comprar "brusinhas" e passarmos a comprar experiências, algo que nos faça realmente feliz por um longo prazo. Tenho certeza que foi um ano incrível, porém não é fácil viver longe do seu país, longe dos amigos, da família, mas sei que nesse ano aprendi a valorizar as pequenas coisas que tanto ouvimos, como a comida da nossa família e os momentos juntos, e ver que nosso país é maravilhoso, mas que nesse momento está difícil viver lá e que devemos ter esperanças, sempre... #lifeinnz #instagood #auckland #newzealand (at Victoria Park, Auckland)

Because I'm too anxious

I’ve got tons of books I wanted to purchase but I’m afraid I can't as dad refuses to, and for some reason, he thought there are more important things to buy. I guess no one in the house appreciates how much I love reading.

Each time I visit Whitcoulls, I can’t help but see more and more books I like. But then I knew dad wouldn’t let me have one so I’ve decided to chill myself at the bookstore by staying there for hours while my family shop for clothes.

G-E-E-K. Need I say more?

I heard that when items are on sale, they suddenly drop their prices so I guess I just had to wait for that particular event. And that’s what I despise the most—waiting. Patience is a virtue but time is gold. So there you go, fella.

Just now, I realized dad had this application on his iPad… I forgot what it’s called, unfortunately. There he saves some of the many comics he downloaded when he was still in the Philippines. I asked him if he could search for Times Squared by Julia DeVillers and add it to his app.

“List down the book titles and I’ll see what I can do,” he told me. My grin reached my ears when I heard dad say that. But as a mischievous daughter, I acted like a broken plaque telling him to add those books in the iPad since it’s free. In the end, my naughtiness paid off.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you the 'just anguish of buying books because I'm weird' part of me.
