Good morning and happy Tuesday.

This week, with the debate of "who's more senile" coming, possible Supreme Court rulings coming, costumed supporters spewing hate, religious doctrines being forced upon children, and ungodly heat (at least in the north east US), this song has been playing in my head. The optimist in me says things can only get better, the truth is I don't know. I guess all WE can do is be good to each other, maybe it will catch on.

Much of modern life is filled with interactions through digital interfaces which simulate the antiquated face-to-face interactions of yesteryear, yet, in reality, they constitute a world of smoke and mirrors. Liquid Modern's reimagining of @joewalshofficial 's "A Life of Illusion" features electronic instruments, such as synthesizers and drum machines, rather than the rock band instrumentation used in the original version. The electronic production lends a more modern and polished sound to the song, while the message and melody remain unchanged. This version of the classic track includes some elements of synthwave intertwined with ambient soundscapes which create a dreamy, hypnotic atmosphere in the midst of the upbeat rhythm section. Kojette's naturally delicate vocals are processed in a way that makes the voice seem like it is reaching out from the depths of an electronic mainframe in an attempt to help you break free of this technicolor hallucination. Overall, their version of "A Life of Illusion" brings Liquid Modern's genre-bending style and a retro-modern energy to the classic rock song!

I consider James Gang-era Joe Walsh to be superior to any other Joe Walsh. This song, though, was a welcome relief to the fucking omnipresent dreadful “Bette Davis Eyes,” that summer. My fondest memory of it is when my sister was driving us somewhere and this song came on - she hadn’t heard it yet - and nearly drove us off US 27, from laughing so hard at the mariachi trumpets.

May 15, 1981: Joe Walsh's There Goes the Neighborhood is released. This is the video for its single "Life of Illusion."  It's basically a behind the scenes view of the album's cover shoot, but in 1981 the concept of the music video was still in its infancy.
