I believe youroldragdoll聽nailed it. I think it is slime聽mold and I love it.
Happy Fourth of July lichenland lichenlovers. This post is a request for assistance from my fungi followers. The stump in the first eight photos has been featured on this blog before being consumed by turkey tail fungi. What in the world is going on now? The yellow is wet and squishy and the Orange is dry. Was the orange yellow before? Is this a fungus? Does the stump not realize the traditional colors for the Fourth of July are red white and blue not yellow orange and brown? The leaf and the cone. Did the leaf grow around the cone or did the cone fall from high in the tree piercing the leaf then becoming stuck half way though? Lichen on!

Long ago in lichenland, I posted a image of a tree that had a yellow fungus growing out of the base of its trunk. I would love to say I scoured the archives to repost the photo but I'm much too lazy for that. The tree was cut down a couple of weeks ago and photo number one is a picture of the stump. There is the yellow fungus growing within the stump. Then another inter-stump fungus. I returned to the French school for our walks and was again overwhelmed by the beauty and the Jim-bitchin' lichen. Photo 4 is a palm-sized beauty I took home. I couldn't help myself. Then we have a decorated rock, a long and winding 'shroom path and last up a tree on my walk. If that is the bloom I can hardly wait to see the seed carrier that develops. Lichen on!
