Backstage at 20471120 S/S ‘98 “YIKES?” in Paris Ryuko Tsushin No.414 (Jan, 1998)
Born in Osaka and now an integral part of Japanese fashion, 20471120 is led by designers Masahiro Nakagawa and LICA. They recently returned from their first show in Paris, which was a great success.
What, 20471120 was at Paris Fashion Week? Many people may be surprised. However, designer LICA does not seem to think it is that big of a deal. “It wasn't that I was thinking "Paris someday," but rather that I had participated in Tokyo Fashion Week 6 times before and wanted to take a new step forward. I thought, "Well, maybe this time I will go abroad.”
In fact, this brand has been on the shelves of the popular boutique "Colette" in Paris since last season and seems to have gained a bit of a cult following among the young Parisian crowd. Masahiro, LICA, and seven other 20471120 staff members left for Paris, saying they had no idea this was happening. “I thought no one in Paris knew about this brand, so I was prepared for the fact that it would be my first time at the event and that the number of customers would be sparse. But for some reason, an amazing number of people showed up and the place was packed. I asked around and found out that it had become a rumor by word of mouth. I was surprised myself.” So on Oct. 20, the show was held at Galerie Paradis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The S/S98 collection, which was presented to great acclaim, was said to be strongly influenced by "Evangelion," which was a "big hit" for the 2 designers. Both in form and spirit. The theme of the event was hidden in a comic book that doubled as an invitation to the event: HYOMA, a brand character familiar to fans, woke up one morning to find that his tail had grown back and a flower had bloomed from his head….
"The theme is 'YIKES!'. English meaning 'What?' However, it leads to the question, “What does it mean to be normal?” Right now, we have this kind of body, but maybe this is a deformity... Thinking that it is normal is dangerous in itself. That's the message."

After adding a model Deinosuchus to my collection earlier this year, it was time to bring the equally titanic crocodylian Sarcosuchus into the fold and Rebor most definitely delivered! Nicknamed “Lica,” this 1:35 scale replica of Sarcosuchus imperator is based on the actual extinct reptile and measures almost a foot long. And as an added bonus, the Lake Version Deluxe Pack comes with the lifeless body of a drowned juvenile Nigersaurus for the killer croc to proudly display in its jaws!
Distantly related to modern crocodiles, Sarcosuchus translates as “flesh crocodile.” With the largest adults reaching over 30 feet in length, this massive predator stalked freshwater environments of both Africa and South America during the early Cretaceous period. And while scientists believe it had a generalized diet similar to that of the Nile crocodile, they also theorize that it was probably capable of killing and eating large dinosaurs as well! 🐊

Men get married at… checks notes… a rat hole
A new Chicago landmark has gone viral and is not your usual tourist spot. It’s a “rat hole” (or maybe a squirrel). But Raj Sarathy and his new husband took the craze to an entirely new level when the pair got married on the sidewalk in front of it. Related: These 6 marriage proposals will warm your heart Plus, we’ve added one cheeky honorable mention… A rat (or squirrel) shaped imprint in the sidewalk has been a neighborhood amusement for 20 years, but after comedian Winslow Dumaine stumbled across it and posted a photo on social media. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our daily newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Had to make a pilgrimage to the Chicago Rat Hole pic.twitter.com/g4P44nvJ1f— Gatorade Should Be Thicker. (@WinslowDumaine) January 6, 2024 “What I found was very much like Looney Tunes, I guess. Just a full rat splat in the wet pavement,” Dumaine told the local news. “I just busted out laughing when I saw it.” Within two days it had over five million views and dozens of visitors a day who left candles, weed, alcohol, food, stuffed animals at a shrine erected at the site. People tossed coins into the hole like a wishing well, a man proposed marriage to his fiancé, and hours later, Raj showed up with his soon-to-be husband, a wedding planner, and a balloon covered arch. “I wanted something that was very groundbreaking,” Sarathy told Book Club Chicago. “We looked at each other in the eyes and we said, ‘Why don’t we get married at the rat hole?’ That’s when I reached out to my wedding planner to make that actually become a reality.” Lica Sato-Keene, his planner, said the request was unusual, but so is Sarathy. So after a reception, the men headed to the sidewalk indent to make things official. When the entourage arrived at the rat (or maybe squirrel) hole, about 50 people were there and the crowd helped the couple to celebrate. “Everybody at the rat hole is literally the nicest person you’ve ever met,” Sato-Keene said. “As a wedding and event planner, you don’t usually move the decor. Once the decor’s there, it’s there. We had to figure out a way to break it into pieces, put it in the business van and transfer it there. There were people at the rat hole just helping us carry these [balloons] across the street. It was so funny and sweet.” Update: the Rat Hole shrine now includes a card, a piece of cheese, a lighter, and a framed memorial among other things. Two people came by and sprinkled some American spirit and a little bit of weed in the hole too. pic.twitter.com/GSG55lGhY9— Gatorade Should Be Thicker. (@WinslowDumaine) January 17, 2024 But neighbors aren’t that thrilled with the litter and noise caused by the fans. Along with coins and flowers, gawkers are also leaving tobacco, drugs, alcohol and condoms. And the food offerings can attract actual rats. “The shrines and everything are nice, but this isn’t like a historic landmark,” one neighbor said. “There’s no one designated to clean up after it, so it’s just been us and the neighbors next door that have been cleaning up.” “Rats run in packs,” she added. “So if one rat were to come and see that there’s fresh cheese here every day, more rats would come. They nest, they burrow. We just don’t want a nest of rats burrowing in the foundation of our house.” “I think the idea of treating it like a wishing well is kind of fun, and I think that might be the easiest way. If you want to toss a coin in, take a pic, I think that’s nice. The leaving of the stuff, it’s just someone has to clean it up eventually. And it’s being put on us, the community.” Sarathy and Sato-Keene cleaned up after the nuptials. Other neighbors have a different quibble with the newfound notoriety. They insist that the imprint isn’t from something as disgusting as a rat. Instead, they hold out that it’s the imprint of a different rodent. “Everyone who’s… http://dlvr.it/T1qVYS

While research can help us understand our generation’s new morality and its changed consumption habits, the impact that the Covid-19 crisis will have on how our future looks and feels remains the most unclear. While times of crisis are when clothes seem to matter least, the irony is that fashion has been making itself at home with the idea of apocalypse as an aesthetic for quite some time.
“Survivalism” isn’t a word one normally lumps in with others like “glamour” and “style,” but according to the strategist and writer Lucas Mascatello, the idea of braving a dangerous future is one that has been a central pillar to many trends for quite some time (and will continue to be). Here, he explores the myriad ideas of the apocalyptic aesthetic — from dystopian to utopian — in our past, present, and future.
What Is Survivalism?
“Survivalism is a mentality. More than the daily practice of preparing for some unknown disaster, war, famine, or disease, it’s a complete worldview unto itself. Survivalism is a kind of reasoning that invites paranoia in, hammering your senses for warning signs and cranking your adrenaline into hyper-vigilance. In nature, we see the armored hides of armadillos and the scales of fish as practical choices made by mother nature, tactical choices that create an aesthetic. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs introduced the concept of tiered values, saying that at their most base, people first satisfy physiological needs like food, water, and sleep. These needs are followed by safety needs (security and shelter), then belonging and love, followed by self esteem and, finally, self-actualization. As a luxury market, fashion largely considers this top tier need: How can I achieve my full potential and what does that look like? It’s a far cry from where we started, concerned with security and defense ideas that inform military design and created armored organisms like turtles, serpents, and dinosaurs.”
Thirst for Annihilation
“Thinking about the end of the world is a romantic idea. And similarly, believing that you are living in the end of times is a great way to add meaning to one’s life. Fashion trends such as chest-packs, camouflage, and tactical gear all gesture toward survivalism as an aesthetic, one that feels like a rebelling against the classic luxury object (even if it’s just as expensive). There’s a long menu of world ending possibilities, each inspiring designers, authors and artists to consider what it might look like if the ice caps melted, if an asteroid hit, if locusts wiped out the crops and we were forced to live off of dehydrated proteins. The thirst for annihilation has helped propagate an array of disaster-based looks.”
Cyberpunk and Tech Gibberish
“Dystopia has its own aesthetic, one reaching deep into fetish and counterculture, mashing sex against sexlessness, turning nerds into heroes, and flipping the paradigm. The incel-meets-BDSM style of The Matrix was the brainchild of costumer designer Kym Barrett. And now, violent models dressed in spandex at a Burning Man-style orgy is how we imagine dealing with a hostile future. In Hackers, costume designer Roger Burton created the most everlasting pop-cultural reality for cyberpunk, featuring club kids rollerblading through New York City. This idea of a post-apocalyptic youth culture would later be echoed in the work of Alexander McQueen, in particular his FW99 collection for Givenchy, a collection created for the eve of Y2K that explores the possibility of a post-human type of glamour. Even in the face of disaster, there’s optimism.”
Disaster Chic
“Trend forecasting is about predicting the future, or at least making a bet on outcomes. Yet style is almost always about being ahead of the curve. At a citizen level, many of us want to be first: stockpiling, prepping, or wearing a mask before everyone is else wearing one are different ways of signaling a truth to come that most are too stupid to recognize. Crises are always a surprise, and yet they always feel inevitable in a way that hangs over even the quiet times. And it’s not always as straightforward as Diesel’s famous 2007 ads Diesel-ifying global warming. Brands like Acronym, Maharishi, and Stone Island have made their bread and butter by sexing up survivalism as a type of high tech roleplay. The apocalypse is stylish because it communicates pessimism, irony, and indifference — like being a smoker or drinking hard because we’re all going to die anyway. Rather than the classic outsider stance of ‘Fuck the World,’ it’s infinitely cooler to say, ‘The World is Fucked.'”
The Dirty Future
“If you zoom ahead 20 years, it is very unlikely that we will all be Errolson Hugh-style cyber ninjas. For while the future is generally tied to the idea of progress — the notion that things develop over time in some cumulative type of way — the unfortunate thing is that beings tend to decay. Colossal world events create the kind of disruption that upends progress, causing fissures and deltas in place of what was once stable. Films such as Mad Max show a world filled with skin rash, poverty, and violence. Kanye West’s first Yeezy Season collections (despite their flaws) were an example of embracing this kind of back to roots, spartan future. Martin Margiela’s first runway show on a playground in Paris’ 20th arrondissement was arguably the first to propose this dirty future in the context of fashion, an idea that began as something romantic and would later spin out into heroin chic. The idea of fashion role-playing destitution is so seminal that it plays a central role in the most famous fashion parody of all time, Zoolander, whose creative director villain Mugatu is planning a homelessness-inspired runway show called ‘Derelicte.'”
Hypothetical Optimism
“Having spent considerable resources imagining the apocalyptic future in its various manifestations, generations of designers and thinkers have proposed speculative solutions that point toward an apocalyptic brand of optimism. Geniuses like Issey Miyake explored survivalism as a pure function through conceptual brands like Final Home and APOC — both dedicated to innovating adaptive solutions for the barren earth to come. Founded in 1992, by Lica and Masahiro Nakagawa, the label 20471120 epitomized Harajuku maximalism while showcasing a future aesthetic based in recycling old products, fighting industry waste, and setting up studios where fans could donate old clothes to be remade as one-of-a kind pieces. Yet even in their most earnest, these future-facing solutions were at best speculative, never made to scale and living firmly within the realm of academia.”
Conclusion: Predictions About Our Real Future
“In the face of our present global disaster, we find ourselves in a situation that feels as though we’ve skipped the bells and whistles of dystopia and gone straight into decline. Few would imagine that New York City would be enduring a shortage of medical supplies and pondering the creation of mass graves — and, for now, the future looks more like looted Wal-Marts and canned tuna than flying cars and floating cities. Today, we’ve become focused solely on what we know works, turning away from novel aesthetics and how things look and returning to our most basic instincts. The real future involves catering to our physiological needs, making masks from old dish towels, draping ourselves in plastic, and wearing latex gloves. These are the aesthetics of coping, one where many of us are considering our own survival for the first time. Rather than replace the expressive and aspirational elements of style, fashion will likely come to play dual roles — both as the expression of our fantasy self and as the reality of who we are today.”

Q&A with BLACKMEANS Yujiro Komatsu
How did you all start blackmeans?
-When I was working for a different clothing brand I was invited to leather factory to search for someone that specialized in distressing leather in which I brought 2 other people from the previous brand that I worked for to help me. During this trip as all three of us became closer we decided to start a brand at the factory that would go against the norm in using leather in which designers in Japan at the time would tend to stay away from. Our goal was to showcase to the industry that leather has so much more potential than what it was known for at that time.
Why did you guys name the brand “blackmeans”?
-We named the brand blackmeans, because we wanted to name ourselves after a group of people in Japan that were the original leather craftsmen in the Muromachi era during the 13th century. Their original name was “Burakumin” in Japanese in which in English would be translated as “blackmeans”. With this brand we wanted to conserve our Japanese heritage of leather craft making.
So what is the brand’s concept?
-We wanted to seek and showcase our Japanese heritage through fashion while also displaying our original style.
Where did the inspiration for the design come from?
-We collectively all took our inspirations from the music and culture that we love and formed our ideas into a cohesive product in which we reconstruct, repair, and renew original designs to our liking.
The brand blackmeans consist of three people who are Mr.Komatsu, Masutomo & Ani Ariga. What are each of their roles in blackmeans?
-Each of us individually come up with our own designs, but we don’t reveal to our consumers who designed which piece. Although we help each other in the mass production stage we each are responsible for the distressing and last touches of each piece we individually come up with.
What is your favorite piece from your catalogue?
-The Buddha jacket and the collaboration pants with Tora Ichi. Collaboration pieces usually stand out the most to us.
How did you come up with the concept for your most popular pieces such as the leather brass knuckle lighter case , coin purse, and the Sid Vicious jackets.
-We always want to create something that doesn’t exist, but that our consumer can use as a daily necessity. In terms of the Sid Vicious jacket we actually collaborated with a famous second hand shop in Tokyo called Berberjin and the concept was that if this piece actually excited in a second hand shop and what would it look it?
Most brands move their production overseas for cheaper cost in labor, however you guys tend to keep your production in Japan where it is expensive. Why is it important to you guys to keep the production of blackmeans in Japan?
-We wanted showcase and add value to made in Japan products to our consumers. Due to the never ending advancement of technology many of these overseas cheap labor factories are being able to produce high quality products in recent years. However for instance, the coin case that we created is constructed in a way that cannot be duplicated by others. When we started the relic treatment on our leathers no one else was doing this same process. So even if other brands were to copy our designs we are continuously creating new concepts for our work in which we are confident through our experience to always stay ahead of the pack when it comes to constructing leather for our products.
Even though blackmeans is inspired by punk rock there are artist from different genres such as Kanye West that wear your clothing. How do you feel about this.
-Its an honor! Not only speaking of punk, but also any sub-culture that has a rich history to stay conservative is important. However, staying conservative and close minded can stunt the growth of a brand from advancing through the time in which would leave you as only a part of history and not in the present. In order to stay relevant, collaborating with other brands and artists is important to prosper and be accepted by the public. Ultimately speaking thats how a culture exist through out time.
In 2013, UNDERCOVER had released its Crast pants through its SS “SCAB” collection and many other pieces that resembled punk. How did you feel about that?
-My first impression was that it ruined CRUSTCORE which was something that was special to me growing up. I always thought that this genre and fashion could never merge together. Through out time the popularity of CRUSTCORE was depleting however after the release of the collection I witnessed that kids became more educated on the culture of punk rock. Recently when I went to these live events I saw these kids and I asked them how did you get into punk some of them said that they were introduced to it through the “SCAB” collection. In fact after this collection I joined the UNDERCOVER team in which I was even more convinced that the collection was impactful to assist the culture in expanding.
I heard you guys are not only a leather brand, but also take orders from other clothing brands operating as leather OEM (original equipment manufacture). Which brand that you worked with stood out to you the most.
-There 3 types of brands that we operate as a leather OEM for. One of them are contemparary brands that we duplicate what they ask us for. The other brands bring us historical/vintage pieces to renew. The 3rd brand, we add our own creative designs to these pieces. The brands who ask us for standard items are more focused on the silhouettes. However, those who want the renewal version of vintage pieces are usually more knowledgable about details and fabrics yet outside of that they’re unaware. And lastly, those who ask us to customize vintage pieces are well knowledgeable on contemporary fashion yet are not interested in specific cultural concepts. With all that being said there are also brands that specialize in all of these aspects, but our favorite brands to work with are those that have the same passion for designing as we do.
Who are you the most influenced by?
- Masahiro Nakagawa, Lica, and Jun Takahashi.
What is your favorite brand?
-My favorite brands are the ones that I get to work with along with everyone else in this industry.
Now that you guys are gaining a lot of attention worldwide within this industry, are there any other brands in Japan that you guys look at as competition.
-As a brand we don’t look at other brands as competition, because we believe in remaining innovattve and staying in our own lane to showcase our best work through blackmeans.
For the future for blackmeans what are your goals and what kind of brand you like to be perceived as?
-Our goal is to educate not only the industry, but the world on Japanese culture through our brand along while remaining relevant and spreading peace. As a brand we want to be unique and in order for us to do that we would like to educate ourselves more on other cultures and values from around the world in order for us stay inspired and original.

How to remove hair after laser treatment
Laser hair removal is not always as difficult as you think! We have prepared answers to almost all questions about laser hair removal. You may consider these questions and the date of treatment including a certain treatment stage. So we should deal with it immediately. Preliminary guidelines for laser hair removal Patients should stop using retinol or bleaching cream for 14 days. Avoid advertisements for sunburn or insufficient sunlight within 14 days before treatment. If the victim has applied exfoliation or non-exfoliation treatment to their pores and skin within about a month, they should contact their doctor. The patient must shave the area to be treated in the morning or evening. If you do not shave before treatment, you may have to pay a fee of $25. Photosensitive drugs should be stopped approximately 14 days before treatment. Before stopping use, patients should consult their family doctor. Instructions for laser hair removal after treatment, after treatment, bloodless packs (now not frozen) should be placed to cool the treated area to reduce swelling and straightening. If the temperature is below 4°C, cold packaging of the substance is not recommended. You can use a 4 x 4 frozen bandage that has been soaked in water recently and put in a small plastic bag. In the first 4 to 5 days after treatment, care must be taken not to further damage the treatment area: do not take a hot bath, do not consume oxygen, do not knead, etc. Patients should apply a high SPF sunscreen (30-50 spf) every month after treatment and protect the affected area from sunlight. Darkening after treatment can promote the recovery of melanin, which leads to hyperpigmentation.
The biggest patient can use cosmetics after remedy. However, if the drug site fluctuates or becomes sticky, we advise patients not to use cosmetics. Pores and skin are always delicate and delicate. Removing makeup, especially difficult-to-remove makeup, can damage the skin and put the area at risk of disease. It is recommended that patients strictly observe the sterile indications of the treatment area within a few days after treatment. Patients are now advised not to play difficult video games or similar physical activities for a few days after treatment until the skin returns to normal. The victim should recover 4-5 weeks after treatment to evaluate the treatment site and establish additional remedial measures if necessary. In buzzwords, the c language cycle between drugs is four to five weeks. The speed of hair enhancement depends on the person receiving treatment and the vicinity of the body, sexual and hormonal status, physiological condition, and the time of year since the treatment is completed. If no additional treatment is needed, the patient should come back for a recheck after three to about a month, preferably when new hair grows in the treated area. During the hair removal process, the medication should be kept at the same amount. If the condition is severe, the patient should return for further treatment after four or about a few months. If no change is found, the treatment limit should be changed. What is an excellent laser hair removal tool? Of course, the answer to this question depends on your pores and skin type, as well as the doctor who treats you. Expert laser hair removal service provider guide you right way.
If the scientific service experts using the tool are not familiar with laser health and convincing settings, this laser hair removal hardware will produce an infinite variety of different results. A very important factor when choosing a laser is that in this exchange, we are discussing the type of laser and the laser logo. Lumenis lightsheer is a special diode laser. Cynosure's heyday was an excellent alexandrite laser, and its sciton profile was excellent because it was superior to the old nd:laser. We encourage you to take the test with your doctor, and we are also happy to roughly discover the mentality or joy of your healthcare professional. Finally, we are happy to suggest that the laser hardware you are looking for has been FDA certified. There are some companies on the market that use unregulated laser equipment to provide laser hair removal treatment, and patients should be careful.

Sećate li se nje? Sad puno košta! (VIDEO)
Let's block ads! (Why?)

If you're like me and can't tolerate skincare products packed with chemicals you'll love Lica Cole (@licacoleorganic)'s new range. Their products are all made in the California, USA 🌞 with organic, cruelty free🐰 and eco friendly 🌿ingredients. . They also smell great with their use of cold pressed essential oils. . Lica Cole gave me The Good Vibe Ayurvedic Smoothing Silk to try. It's a moisturizing serum packed with vitamins. It feels great on the skin. Nearly all the ingredients are plants and fruits with the main ingredient being matcha (green tea). Yum! It's practically good enough to eat. My camel seems to like it too! 😁🐪 . . .

Dream Inspired Speculoos Chocnut Banoffee Pie
Dream Inspired Speculoos Chocnut Banoffee Pie
I made this because I had a pack of Biscoff cookies, a can of condensed milk and bananas at home, then my friend Lica gave me two packs of Chocnut, and I ate a decent but not fantastic banoffee pie a couple of weeks ago. I love banoffee pie, so when I had some that didn’t meet all my expectations I guess I went home that night feeling unfulfilled. I dreamt of this, then I decided I was going make…

Foto: Promo/Reebok Nova lica retro silueta predstavljaju must have modele novih generacija kreativnih predvodnika.
