Musical Mondays: Holiday Edition
Greetings and salutations,
I know, I know, I’ve been gone. I have a draft for a normal Musical Monday that I am currently working on right now, but in the spirit of the holidays, I had to put that off so I could find some new Christmas songs for you guys (How do you like the festive banner?). That added on to the wait for the next official update, but I had a big move happen recently and I am also catching up on work. My new school did not have an old class of mine, so I had to catch up on all of the notes, classwork, and tests in time for our grades to get put in. I have been pulling my hair out ever since. I do apologize for being gone, though. I don’t like being stressed out and not have the energy to write. Good news, I am back in action and all caught up so that’s fun. I am still working on my upcoming Jimin fic, and I also had a new idea pop up in light of a certain musical that I adore (wink, wink) and am in the process of mapping that out. Sadly, my Yoonmin AU is on a hiatus for the time being. It’s a decision I have made based on the fact that every time I try to write anything for it I absolutely hate it.
Now back to our semi-regularly scheduled program. Happy holidays! Tis’ the season, my dudes. 2020 is upon us, and for those who celebrate it, Christmas is only a few days away. I myself do love the holidays, and even though I have only had the pleasure of gifts for the last couple of years, it has made its way into my Grinch sized heart. Now, while I was searching far and wide for some Christmas music fitting for our ever-growing playlist, I realized that there’s not enough chilled out holiday music. Of course, we have Lo-Fi, but I’m talking about more than just an instrumental (I love Lo-Fi Christmas tracks, don’t get me wrong). So, I went on a journey to find some mellow holiday music. You have no idea how hard it was for me to compile this list and not include All Time Low- seriously. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Now, not all of these are centered around Christmas, though I did have a basic criterion for what songs qualified. It had to fit into at least one of the following categories:
Christmas themed
About winter or cold weather
Talk of gifting someone something
A remix of a Christmas beat
Cover of old Christmas song
It was a very broad spectrum, but it was much harder than you would think. I was also limiting myself to 10 songs, I could not use the same artist twice, and none of them could be anywhere close to the original songs that we know and love. For example, Baby It’s Cold Outside, recently covered by Kelly Clarkson and John Lennon was off-limits. Not only did I not really like, the lyrics were different, but it was far too similar to the original to add it to my list.
Another thing that’s different this time ‘round is the rating system! Usually, the rating system we use on Musical Mondays is based on how upbeat or calming the music is with 5 being the most upbeat and 1 being the most chill. Not this time. For our holiday update, we will be rating them from 1-5, with 5 being the most Christmas-y and 1 being the least. And without further ado, here’s our Musical Monday: Holiday Edition!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all the best,
Lex

Good evening my fellow sinners,
How is everyone? So, I know this sounds really weird, but even though Dirty Dancing only has a few reblogs and I’ve gained 5 followers since posting it, that’s still super crazy to me. I mean, the last time I got any sort of positive feedback on ANYTHING that I’ve written was a really, really, Really (did I say how really this was?) horrible 5 Seconds of Summer fic I wrote when I was in 7th grade on Wattpad. I would spend at least three hours writing on my rinky-dink, off-brand tablet that was like $35 at Wal-Mart, and I had over 200 reads and a good handful of regular readers. Alas to say, I am super embarrassed about it, and I can’t stand to go back and read it.
That being said, I know it’s not a lot. I’ve been on Tumblr for over a year now (my main account is where I reblog different fics that I really like or am interested in reading, but I wanted to make my writing blog a bit more organized) and I’ve finally mustered up the courage to post something. I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time out to read the first part of my new story and liking/reblogging it. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Now, I have some different ideas about what I can post in between each update:
I could do a weekly music recommendation where each week I compile new music finds that I really loved and enjoyed. Music for some reason has always made me feel like I know a person, so if that is something that you are interested in, definitely message me or just like this post.
I could also recommend some of my favorite books and give a basic rundown of why I loved them so much, and I can also throw in some books that I absolutely loathe. I know, I’m getting into murky water with that one, but I still think it could be fun.
I could make a small list of books that I am interested in buying and talk about why I find it interesting or worth the money, and it can possibly help you find a new book or tell me if it’s worth it or not. I love talking about literature and hearing about the kinds of things others are into. I will let this be the one and only warning: I love very disturbing, scary, or otherwise morbid novels. I find them extremely thought-provoking and it makes my brain work hard. However, I am a softie for a good fantasy novel and I have a secret crush on Rainbow Rowell books (you didn’t hear it from me). I’m not the biggest fan of romance novels, but I do like to keep an open mind about things, so if you can persuade me, I might pick up a copy.
I could have a specific day of the week where I answer questions from you guys and we can have a nice interaction and just chill out and talk about music, the boys, how stories are coming along, update days, books; basically any and everything under the sun! During this time I can maybe slip in some extra song recommendations or books that I haven’t gotten around to talking about in a post just yet to give everyone something extra while I’m getting my life in order. I love talking to people online, and I would really love to have a connection with my followers. I want to be friends, even if only through playing 20 questions once a week and responding to messages you send my way.
I should probably hold off on posting this until I get some more followers, but I think I want to post it now. 5 is enough for me. 5 people cared enough to follow me, and that makes me so happy. Thank you again. I really do appreciate it so much. I’m always open for a chat. If you want someone to talk to when you’re bored, or sad, or angry, or fangirl, or just to talk... just send a message and I’ll get back as soon as I can. I hope our little group can grow and we can all get along and be antisocial bookworms obsessed with BTS together.
Signing off,
Lex
