There was a scene written into that episode with clarke getting ready and taking a bath before the kneeling. Might have also been filmed and is just a deleted scene but I can’t remember the details of it. So I’ve just decided to make that canon for myself. Clarke is all clean by the end of that night.

all jokes aside, i'm sure clarke did take a good and long bath (with several water changes) to take all that three month dirt out and all the berries from her hair. she was in polis and the commander was all sorts of smitten with her, she had access to baths and got herself cleaned often. maybe she didn't know how to use the hair oils and natural soaps that well, and that's why her hair looked all greasy and her nails were never fully clean, but she smelled all nice

i would, however, kill to watch that deleted scene
