Exene laughed under her breath, watching Juliette peel a whole potato with one swivel of her wrist and knife.
"You will have to admit, one day, that you have been domesticated."
"Bite your tongue!" Juliette quipped at her.
Both healers glanced off towards the changing environment. The air was cold, not just crisp, and soon, the snows would come. They were bundled in wool blankets and fur lined cloaks, with their hair long and loose, swaying with the biting wind.
"Are you sure you want to stay on?" Exene asked, yet again.
Juliette smirked as she looked Exene's way, "These lands remind me of Thrakir..." she began and shrugged her shoulders, "Those memories..." and shook her head, "They do not relive themselves here."
"I suppose that means Lord Cantaville will be staying on as well."
"He will, and I get to smell a whole plethora of men roaming about as well." Juliette added.
Exene raised a hand and two large unpeeled potatoes landed in her outstretched hand. "You will get used to it."
Juliette huffed softly and stared at her friend. It was so different to see her at peace, content even, and half-smiled. "Binding yourself to that always-frowning brute of yours...suits you."
Exene said nothing for a moment, peeling the last of the potatoes and watched as the basket of freshly picked carrots move towards them. "I like what I see when it comes to you and Lex."
Juliette chuckled softly, and bit into the carrot she had just peeled, "Surprisingly....he can keep up."
Exene noticed their men, off conversing quite possibly about them, then glanced to Juliette. "I have liked having you here."

Arbor.
Juliette thought the place reminded her of the forests in Thrakir, her home land.
It was barren, but lush all the same. Children were rare and celebrated, and the people were welcoming, even when it came to her telekinetic 'sister' Exene and libidinous 'sister' Lorna.
It was the unity, the understanding that this war on this generous land needed not just it's residents, but outsiders like herself to assist.
She had promised she'd give Helena grief for sending the three of them off to fight a family battle. Yet, Juliette was drawn to the fighting, almost enjoying it.
The Tree People were better archers than she had first expected, and with the tutelage of not only herself, but that of Alynne and Alden and even the Cantaville brothers, their arrows were true.
It was the aftermath of each battle though that Juliette and the other healers excelled.
She cursed Lorna for getting hurt, her wounds were serious, and she had to wonder about that magical blade that Lorna had been hit with, wondering of its effects later on. "A glowing blue dagger, that already has magical implications." she had mentioned to Lorna.
When the time came, it was Lex and herself that worked together, going from injured person to the next, quickly tending and wrapping open wounds and breaks and alerting Exene who had taken command of who needed to be sent off, who could stay and those close to crossing over...she let Lexington handle, but not alone, she remained there, holding hands, calming the last throes of frantic energy before they crossed over.
"May the light find you on the other side." She would whisper and feel their warm hands slacken slightly.
Juliette knew then, knew that the paths from the forests of Thrakir, to caves in the willows, to Hillside, to Barley, to its outskirts, and to Arbor...that she wanted Lex close.

"We need to go." Juliette began.
She had had little chance to explain not only what she had seen and just how important it was that they leave, but also how she had seen what she had seen.
She had always believed her own 'magic' was simply the bow and her healing. Despite being so standoffish and sullen, she had always been able to win skeptics over with her skills, not her attitude.
She had taken to pacing as she showed Lex the scroll she had received.
"Lorna saw what I saw. Exene as well. They are traveling, placing themselves in positions to assist and I....we shall as well. Lex? We go to The Stony Hills, tonight."

They might not have been together, but something awoke, and it 'called' to each of them....
Juliette awoke, startled and panting, looking around in the darkness, and touched her chest. Whatever it was, was not present, it was simply an alarm, warning her, and reached for Lex's arm. "Something is not right."
Exene had been staring into the fire Eris had built for them, short legs huddled close and warding off the rain. Oh, it was pouring around them, and everywhere else in the forests of Juniper Hills, but they were being spared, when the fire flickered and suddenly her concentration was lost and the rains poured down on them. She concentrated, trying to focus on what energy, what was calling for her attention in such a drastic way. "Eris...we have to go...now, we have to go..." and hurriedly packed up. Standing before him, she took hold of his tunic to make sure they were looking each other square in the eye. Dark eyes peering into his. "Whatever happens, I need you to know...." and offered him a small smile, and decided against it, "just stay close."
Lorna was wandering about the orphanage, amusing herself and a gargle of little ones who thought her little 'magic' tricks were far better than listening to the postulants when she caught her breath. Brows furrowed as she searched for the source, and turned her green-grey gaze towards one of the young nuns and clucked her tongue at her, "Watch them will you?" And stepped out into the cold wind, the rain pelting her. Unphased, she walked, as the rain touched but eventually flitted off of her, and she as dry as before. Pausing before the door of the tiny cabin, she glanced about, and knew Helena had returned but could she lay such dire news on her, and grimaced.
She would give her tonight, but at first light she would return.
Lorna closed her eyes, attempting to hone in on the aura and shook her head, walking off in a huff, "....shit."

He had left abruptly, yet she had taken it in stride. If the Northlands of Barley were where she was going to live and assist the people, she would. But the second letter caught her off guard, and she clenched her jaw as she read it, thinking about the fact that suddenly her partner would not be returning. She grumbled and shook her head, tossing the letter aside and glancing at the scatters of her belongings in his home. So, she cleared out. And took her satchel, medicine bag and was off. Her own adventure had yet to start.
