Okay, so I really like sorting things into Hogwarts houses based off the aesthetic/vibes they give me, and I decided to do this with the StarKid musicals, because why not? Halfway through I decided that just one house for each wasn’t going to work, so I decided to go with hybrid houses (eg. Slytherdor, Ravenpuff, etc.) These are the results.
(Note: I tried to keep it so that it was spread out, and so not all of them had the same house. There’s 6 possible combinations for hybrid houses, which means 2 of each. Due to this, some of them don’t fit exactly right, but the one that suited them best already had 2 I was even more sure of, or it was just one of the only ones left and I decided to just go with it.)
StarKid Musicals Hogwarts Hybrid Houses
A Very Potter Musical: Slytherdor (Slytherin/Gryffindor)
Okay, I’m not 100% sure of this one, but I feel like it fit best. I don’t really have much of an explanation for this one, except it has Gryffindor vibes (maybe it’s just because it’s Harry Potter, but we’ll ignore that), and I feel like the snarkiness is very Slytheriny (look, I just made up a word). So yeah, no real reasons for this one, just vibes.
Me and My Dick: Ravenpuff (Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff)
Yeah, once again, not much reasoning behind this one, but I feel like it fit best. Actually, you know what, I have even less reasoning for this one than AVPM. It’s soft (in a good way), which makes me think of Hufflepuff, and idk about the Ravenclaw, but anyway. Also Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are the most underrated houses, and MAMD is one of the most underrated musicals.
A Very Potter Sequel: Slytherclaw (Slytherin/Ravenclaw)
What? It’s about Harry Potter? Shouldn’t it have Gryffindor? Well, guess what, I don’t care. This one gives me Slytherin vibes for no particular reason (maybe it’s because Malfoy is trying to manipulate the past?) Anyway, the whole time-turning thing gives me big Ravenclaw vibes.
Starship: Gryffinclaw (Gryffindor/Ravenclaw)
Okay, this is the first one that I’m actually sure about, and actually do have reasoning for. The whole thing being in space is incredibly Ravenclawy, and when I think of the Ravenclaw traits, some of the things that stand out to me are open-mindedness and acceptance, which Starship is centred around. The Gryffindor comes in with the adventurousness and exploring themes, and together, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw just seem to fit Starship really well.
Holy Musical B@man: Slytherdor (Slytherin/Gryffindor)
Okay, I think the main reason I picked these two is because of the theme of good/bad (I’M NOT SAYING THAT ALL SLYTHERINS ARE BAD! SLYTHERINS ARE GREAT!) Both Gryffindor and Slytherin see things in a very black and white way - people are either good or bad. All superhero stories also have this dynamic, which also applies to HMB. Honestly, apart from that, I don’t have much reasoning except for vibes.
A Very Potter Senior Year: Gryffinpuff (Gryffindor/Hufflepuff)
Okay, out of all three AVP musicals, this one is definitely the most like Harry Potter aesthetically. The whole thing is about being brave enough to face your fears, not always having to be in the spotlight, and loyalty to those you love, which are all very Gryffindory and Hufflepuffy. Once again, since it is about Harry Potter, it gives off Gryffindor vibes, and the themes of love in it are very Hufflepuff. (Also, the song Sidekick is literally the epitome of Hufflepuffs)
Twisted: Gryffinclaw (Gryffindor/Ravenclaw)
The whole moral of the story is doing what’s right, even if it means you will be hated forever, which is incredibly Gryffindor. Bravery and courage play a big part in this. I think it’s the most obviously Gryffindor of them all. The Ravenclaw comes in with the idea of logic and science vs belief and dreams, which are BOTH Ravenclaw things. Anyway, yeah, this is one of the ones I’m most certain about.
Ani: Ravenpuff (Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff)
Once again, no particular reason. Just the idea of following your dreams is very Ravenpuffy. Also, once again, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are underrated and so is Ani.
Trail to Oregon: Gryffinpuff (Gryffindor/Hufflepuff)
The whole thing is very family orientated, which immediately makes me think of Gryffinpuff. The Gryffindor part is the whole part about making it to Oregon, as well as being brave enough to acknowledge your mistakes (Jack Bauer and Slippery When Wet both do this). The Hufflepuff part is obviously doing anything for the people you love, and having the patience, tolerance and kindness to work with them, even when you’re so different. Also Gryffinpuff gives off big dumbass energy, and so does TTO (no disrespect to either of the houses)
Firebringer: Slytherpuff (Slytherin/Hufflepuff)
The whole thing is about ambition. They want to change the world for the better, and find better ways to do things, which is a very Slytherin thing. The Hufflepuff comes in with the need for hard work, and also having enough patience and tolerance and dedication to make things work. The whole Slytherpuff aesthetic is working hard to achieve great things, which is sooooo much like Firebringer. (Also, Zazzalil is a Slytherin and Jemilla is a Hufflepuff, and you can fight me on that).
The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals: Slytherclaw (Slytherin/Ravenclaw)
The whole science of the show, the whole alien thing, it just screams Ravenclaw. It is really the most scientific of the shows, and figuring out how the apotheosis works is a very Ravenclaw thing. The Slytherin part is the determination, and also the whole ‘outsmart the aliens’ thing. Slytherin is a very survivalistic house (is that the right word?) and when they’re trying to survive the apocalypse, this really shows. Also, a major theme of TGWDLM is wanting, which is otherwise known as ambition, and that’s also a Slytherin trait.
Black Friday: Slytherpuff (Slytherin/Hufflepuff)
The Slytherin part is really how Wiggly is manipulating everyone, how the whole show seems like a giant game of chess. Linda’s ‘wanting to be adored’ thing is also quite Slytherin, and also, Lex Ethan and Hannah are ambitious in wanting to get to California. Also, as I said in TGWDLM, the whole ‘survival is key’ theme. I’m not as sure where the Hufflepuff comes in, but I feel like it just fits well. Idk why it gives me Hufflepuff vibes.
So yeah, I just spent way to long on that, but tell me what you guys think! Is there any you would switch around? Did that make any sense at all? Am I crazy? The answer to the last one is yes, but feel free to share your opinions!
